The Proposal

A Double Take

“Hold up, both of your parents are down there – what do you think you’re doing?” She stopped him midway.

“You’re still putting up an act – is this like a test to see if I can tell the difference?” He asked.

“How do you know which Luna is which if you don’t even know the real one?” She asked in return.

“The Luna I’ve been after is the same one I’m looking at right now.  The real Luna will only blush at the sight of me.  The Luna I want is worry about me.  The Luna who cares is the only one that will ask questions when in doubt – so what makes you think I don’t know you from the other?” He sternly clarified.

Luna blinked several times unsure on how to continue.

“And before you make up another lie, I knew you were Luna the moment I opened the door – your scent is a big giveaway,” he stated.

Frozen on the spot, she began to look around for another door to possibly escape from but it doesn’t look like there was one.  She had to somehow get pass him.  She can’t do it again.  Why must she reduce herself to this level when confronting against him?  He’s like a block of stone that is immovable.  She truly does have feelings for him but if she was to settle down, she wouldn’t be able to do what she wants to do anymore.  Yeah, so her job is dangerous some of the time but it’s what she lives for – can he accept that?

“What are you thinking?” He asked.

“About how perceptive you are when you think you’re right,” she shrugs.

“So where is the other Luna, the one pretending to be you earlier today?” He asked.

“Why do you ask?” She wondered.

“Because I only wonder for your sake.  But to be honest, I don’t have any feelings for her.  It comes off cold and distant whenever I go near her,” he simply answers.

Probably not the answer she wanted to hear but that was the best he could do for now until he gets to the bottom of this.  If he could pull her away from this job, he would do it instantly.  But knowing her she would fight him all the way therefore not a great idea.  Maybe if he offered her a job with his company – how would she take that?

“How about you marry her?” She asked.

“Why would I want to marry her?” He asked in return.

“We look alike.  Think alike.  Dress alike.  And no one would know so why not?” She offered.

He took a deep breath and continues to stalk toward her while she backs up until she hit the wall and could go no further. Luna was caught off guard.  This was supposed to be her turf.  How did it reduce to this with her wanting to run away?  Oh, that’s right, she disappeared on him again and he doesn’t like it when she does that – and none of her friends are here to help.  Again.

“You may look alike to others but to me you, you two look nothing alike.  Yes, I agree the two of you think alike however you put others before yourself.  Style wise, you’re more casual than her and definitely my style.  And others may not know but I will always know,” he responded softly.

“It wouldn’t make a difference,” was her only last hope of getting away.

“Would you sleep with two Kris’s if there were two?” He asked.

“No!” She shouted.

“So what makes you think I would?” He continues to ask.

“What point are you trying to make?” She asks.

“Whether there a gazillion of you around the world, I will always know which one is the real one.  Yes, I may have fallen for her looks the first time I’ve seen her but it was you who I want,” he stated gently.

“Won’t you regret losing a fashion diva as a life-mate?” She asked sarcastically.

“No.  Why would I?  I would actually save more money,” he chuckles.

She tried to push him away but no avail – he was not budging.

“Look, our parents are down there and it would be highly in appropriate for us to be up here alone,” she tried to talk some sense into him.

“And we’re having a romantic dinner – they would be pleased,” he shrug.

“But we’re not even eating,” she pointed out the fact.

“Would you like to eat?” He then asks.

She nodded slightly.

Knowing her, she already had a plan building up behind those beautiful eyes but he was not going to let her get away.  Pulling her along, he situation her against the wall while he took the seat closer to the door.

“Eat up,” he smiled.

How irritating.  I feel like I’m an open book for some reason.  I can’t seem to pull the tricks anymore on him.  Why?  If the other Luna was here, she would have came up with something.  I’ll just eat up till I can think of another excuse.

After clearing off dinner, Kris suggested a shower but she just waved him off.  He laughed to himself as he entered the private bathroom.  This was her chance to escape.  However the doors were locked and she could not figure out how to unlock the door.

“Seriously!” She uttered in frustration.

Ten minutes later, he came out wrapped in nothing but a towel.

“Still can’t figure out how to unlock the door?” He asked.

“Of course not,” she wanted whack that smile off his face.

“It’s a sensor touch screen meaning without my finger, you cannot get out,” he smiled wickedly.

“I’m sure my parents are ready to go home by now,” she reminded him that the adults were still downstairs.

“But you didn’t come with them therefore why would they wait for you?” He pointed out.

Darn it!  He got me there.  Great!  What’s my next excuse?  I don’t want to spend the night here.  No way!

“What do you want then?” She asked sounding very angry.

“How about you go wash up first?” He suggested.

“I can do that home,” she grunted.

“Go wash up nicely or would you rather I do it for you?” He gave her two options.

If she could only beat him – physically of course but since that was out of her league, she marched into the bathroom and slammed the door shut.  He was laughing silently to himself.  Luna was usually cautious but if it wasn’t for her true personality – he would have never seen through the fake one.  Sure, the two looked so much alike but his Luna had larger eyes and her cheeks were a bit chubbier than the other.  But the best part – his Luna already gave him the best gift therefore he is not willing to let her go.

Thirty minutes later, she opens the door wrapped in nothing but a towel since her clothes were apparently missing from the bench.  And of course, there were no locks on the door so he could have entered and taken it without her even knowing.

“Where are my clothes?” She asked not too happy with him.

“Not here anymore, I sent it down to the laundry room,” he smirks.

“And exactly what am I to wear out of here?” She asked bitterly.

“Tomorrow your clothes will be ready but tonight, you can sleep comfortably with nothing like me,” he flashes his smile that would weaken an old lady’s heart.

“I am not spending the night here,” she stomped.

“I already told your parents that you were,” he shrugs.

“You what?” She almost shouted.

“We’re going to get married so why spend our nights apart,” he tried to reason with her.

“And my parents didn’t say anything about that?” She was astonished.

He shook his head.

“Come on, lay down, I’ll give you a massage,” he patted the bed for her join him.

“I do not need a massage,” she grumbles.

“You must be feel stiff since you’re shoulders are too straight,” he commented.

“My shoulders are just fine!” She wanted to throw something at him.

“I’m asking nicely, do we have to do this the hard way?” He warned her again.

Him and his threats.  Seriously!  How did she even fall for him in the beginning?  Oh, that’s right – she was too easy.  Or at least that’s what the other Luna pointed out.  She gave in too easily.

“Why are you doing this?” She could not cry in front of him.

“Doing what Luna?  Taking care of you is a crime?” He asked in return.

“I don’t need to be taken care of – I’m doing just fine,” she disagreed.

“Lay down.  I’m going to get the oil,” he patted the bed once more before running into the bathroom.

Luna could only sigh.

Kai’s Private Condo.

“Master Kai will be with you in a moment,” the butler announced before excusing himself.

So the only way she could excuse herself from the contract she previously signed, she would have to meet him face to face in order to break it.  Or so his secretary announced when she tried to call into HR.

“Good grief,” Krystal sighs.

Ten minutes after finishing her cup of tea, Kai makes his way down to the sitting room carrying a file in his hand.  He sat across from her with a grim expression.  At least she knows he’s not a violent person otherwise, she would be defenseless.

“You wanted to see the contract?” He asked.

“I wanted to cancel the contract,” she corrected him.

“It’s non-negotiable,” he stated firmly.

“All contracts are up for negotiation,” Krystal retorted back.

“Most are with an exception to this one,” he agreed.

“What is different about this one?  Wouldn’t it be the same if you were to fire me?” She asked.

“Luckily for me, you didn’t read between the lines Krystal.  It’s a non-negotiable contract,” he restated again.

Krystal, who was calm ten minutes ago, was no longer calm but frustrated with him.  Out of all the times she has been under him, he has never given her a hard time until now.  Why?

“Okay, so what is so different with this contract that I cannot negotiate myself out of?” She finally asks.

He placed the contract in front of her.  “Read it.  I was nice enough to highlight the important parts in yellow,” he sighs.

Krystal grunted not so kindly and began to read the contract.

Highlighted in yellow:

Hereby signing this contract of agreement, I Krystal Jung agrees to the following conditions:

  1. As an employee, all communication must remain confidential and disclosed among the party members.  If disobeyed, a fine up to $100,000.000 can be upon the individual.
  2. All companies property must be well maintained, if damaged, as the individual can pay up to $500,000.00 for damages if found responsible.
  3. By agreeing to this contract and all conditions, I revoke my rights as an individual to appeal and/or put my employer under any scrutiny situations.

In smaller prints below the agreement she adhered to was another statement that she also signed to: Krystal Jung agrees to marry Kai Kim upon reaching a marital age.  By signing this line, the individual revokes her rights to negotiate and/or cancel this contract of agreement upon employment.

Krystal looks up and sees a not so happy Kai looking back at her.

“I don’t recall this line,” she stuttered.

“Because of this one signature, I’m not allowed to date anyone else therefore the contract is non-negotiable,” he stated.

“Your father must have tricked me into signing this,” she tried to defend her actions.

“Look, you can’t blame him if you didn’t read the contract clearly yourself.  The only person to blame is you,” he corrected.

“Why would there be such a line in a contract like this?” She argued.

“Apparently you don’t know our family history but my mother was my father’s previous intern signed by contract too,” he shared.

“Huh?” She was caught off guard.

“However, after he married her, he hired the new secretary, Mr. Lee, who is now under him.  So their reason for marrying was hidden from the public but luckily for my father, my mother loves him too,” Kai explains.

“Did she fight him on the contract?” She wondered.

“For the first hour or so but after that, she agreed,” he smiled.

“Why?” She asked.

“There was no point of prolonging it since she was in love with him too,” he shrugs.

“But I’m not in love with you,” she pointed out.

“Not right now but eventually you’ll be,” he corrected her.

“How conceited?  I wonder who could love someone like you.” She retorted back.

That hit below the belt.

“Same goes to you,” he tossed back at her.

“Well if we agree why don’t we just break the contract? You know, just rip it apart,” she suggested out of the blue.

“Why don’t you ask my father then?” He suggested.

“Fine.  I will,” she stood up to leave.

“Good luck at getting a hold of him then,” Kai stood up too.

“Where is he?” She asked looking around.

“How would I know?  They’re retired and enjoying their belated honeymoons while I’m running the corp,” he shrugs.

“You mean, you have no idea where they are at right now?” Krystal was shock.

“Hate to burst your bubbles but until then, you’re stuck with me and if choose to set a date, you have no choice but to agree,” he sternly reminds her.

“You cannot make me marry you!” She fumed up with rage.

“Wanna bet?” He joked.

“I will not marry you.  My parents would be so upset with this kind of arrangement,” she argued.

“But you cannot tell them or anyone about this agreement otherwise you’ll be fine and worse – behind bars,” he warned her.

“You are much worse than Kris,” she grunted in frustration.

“So I’ve been told,” he agreed.

“I will find a way out of this,” she promised before storming away from him.

But he already knew she was not going to get far after seeing her cup of tea.  He followed her footsteps and at the front door, she was slumbered against the door.

“Master Kai,” the butler made his presence known.

“You may take a leave for a few days. I’ll take care of her,” Kai waved him off.

Lifting her up, he carried her up to his room to begin the next action plan at getting her where she belongs – as his wife.

“I’m sorry Krystal, your faith had leaded you to me and if you think I’m going to let you walk away – think again my gem, you’re here to stay,” he gently soothes her.

Laying her on the bed, he slowly removed all her clothing along with his.  Using his phone, he took plenty pictures of the two together that he’ll use later to back up as evidence.  Although this was not the best approach to a proposal but if he didn’t do it now, she’ll disappear just like Luna.  He needs to make sure he has a good strong hold onto her.  One Krystal is enough for him.

“You’ll hate me for this but I promise, you’ll be enough for me and only me,” he possessively promised.

Dimming the lights low, he held her while she slept.  Because when morning arrives, it will be nothing but a peaceful welcoming.

Wu Family Home.

“Talk about bossy,” Luna muttered gently.

“But at least I’m thoughtful,” he chuckles carrying the extra towel and body oil.

“Then after this, I can go home …. Maybe?” She tried to make a compromise.

“Not a chance beautiful but feel free to make yourself comfortable,” he gently ushered her lay down.

Luna could only pout.

“And after that maybe you’ll return the favor?” He asked.

“We’ll see how well you do first,” she teases him.

“We’re on!” He was gamed.
