Mr. Wolf or Mr. Zombie?A week before Christmas. Hyejung’s mother insisted to go shopping with her and Hyejin. Hyejung was completely healed now and Hyejin didn’t have any plan. So, there was no reason for them to refuse their mom.
The three of them walked around the mall with some shopping bags hanging on their hands. Hyejung felt so refreshed after about a month isolated in hospital and her house. She loved breathing the air outside. Even though the mall was crowded from so many people preparing Christmas she still loved it. At least it’s better than jailed inside house 24/7.
Hyejung noticed her mother checked her watch on her wrist several times. She looked like had a thing to do in a certain time. Some times she checked her phone, just like waiting someone calling. Her face seemed so uneasy. Hyejung asked more than once if she was okay. But, like usual, she always said she was okay.
“I have to go somewhere. You two can search for lunch. I’ll have my lunch by my self so don’t wait me. If you wanna go home, just text me. Okay?” Hyejung’s mother suddenly said. Hyejung and Hyejin couldn’t say anything, surprised for a sudden leave. In less than 5 minutes their mother disappeared in crowd. They looked at each other, didn’t know what to do.
“Mall cafetaria? Pizza? Or another fastfood?” Hyejung offered her sister.
“Fastfood,” Hyejin replied shortly. They headed to nearest fastfood and order some lunch for them.
“Do you know what happen with mom?” Hyejin asked as she chewed her french fries.
“No idea. I have asked her for thousands times and she always said she’s okay. I can tell she was lying,” Hyejung shook her head. They both sighed heavily. “I’m so worried about her. I don’t know if her health is okay or no, since she had some bad habbits lately,” Hyejung continued. Her mind was far away remembering everytime her mother came home late at night, drunk, of course when her father was far away.
“Bad habbits?” Hyejin asked with confused expression. Hyejung cursed under her breath. Hyejin never knew that her mother came home late and drunk. She was fallen asleep by then. Hyejung thought better if Hyejin didn’t know so it wouldn’t be a burden for her.
“Nothing.” Hyejung shrugged her shoulder tried to end their conversation. They continued their lunch in silence.
