Sandara’s POV

Seven hours had passed and I am still with Lee Donghae

We are currently at the park observing plants and everything that we could utilize for our project

My eyes wandered around the place

It was beautiful… and really peaceful

My eyes lingered on and unconsciously, they landed on Lee Donghae

I observed him as he seriously did what I told him to do

I asked him to take pictures of anything around the place. Anything that would be beneficial to us

I’m actually really surprised since he is doing everything I ask him to do.

So he is really serious about the project huh?

But I shouldn’t fall for his hard-working exterior. Who knows, this guy must be thinking of something bad. He is Lee Donghae after all

I recovered from my trance when I heard clicking sounds. I unconsciously blinked as I saw his camera lens directed towards me

“What are you doing?” I asked, confused by his actions

“Nothing, just taking a picture of you” he replied.

I frowned at his response. Of course I knew that he took a picture of ME, but what I wanted to know was why. Sigh

I chose to ignore him and was about to go back to what I was doing when he suddenly spoke

“Hey, Ice Geek!”

“What?” I answered him without even looking at his face

“I’m hungry! Can we grab some snacks before we continue?” he explained. I looked at him and I saw him rubbing his abdomen. He must be really hungry, I thought

I checked my watch and saw that it was already past 5 pm. The last meal that we had were just burgers that we took out from McDonald’s during lunch time. No wonder why he is hungry right now

After thinking about food, I felt my stomach grumbling. I guess I’m hungry too… Sparing sometime for snacks won’t hurt. We gathered a lot of data already anyway…

“Okay. Let’s grab some food before we continue our work. But where should we go?” I asked as I looked around the area searching for some food stands

I can only see an ice cream stand and I’m quite sure that our stomachs won’t be satisfied with just ice cream

“How about we go to the northern part? There are a lot of restaurants and snack houses over there” he said as if he read my mind

I nodded in response. It’s better than nothing right?

We went ahead and walked towards the area he suggested. It is actually surprising that I am here right now, walking peacefully with the person I hate the most. Although I still don’t trust him, I’ve decided to give him the benefit of doubt just for this day. It is for our project anyway. I’ll just have to stay alert in case he will do something nasty.

We were walking in silence when he suddenly stopped in front of a nice-looking café

“Hey! This café is good! They serve great tasting frappes and their pastries are really good too!” he exclaimed excitedly. From the way his eyes beamed as he saw the café, I can pretty much say that what they sell is really good

“You want to eat here?” I asked. He really looks like a kid right now wanting some candy making me chuckle. He looked like Sehun when he wanted something. How cute

“Did you just chuckled?” his head instantly turn towards me with eyes widened. I felt embarrassed so I fake a cough

“You must be imagining things, you’re hungry anyway. So, here?” I diverted the conversation hurriedly. I can’t believe that I just thought that he was cute! I even compared to him to dear Sehun!

“Okay!” he excitedly exclaimed. Good thing that he is too excited right now or else…

“Okay, let’s get inside. I want to fini—“I was not able to finish my sentence when I saw a very familiar person inside the cafeteria. I immediately froze from shock and just as bad as it is, he looked towards our direction

OH. MY. GOD

Out of panic, I grabbed Lee Donghae’s arm immediately and dragged him away from the cafeteria. I do not know whether the person saw us or not but still, we had to go.

“He—hey! What are you doing Sandara Park?!” Donghae shouted making me stop. I surveyed the area and we were already on a safe distance away from the cafeteria

“Why did you drag me away like that? Is there something wrong?” he asked, confusion evident on his face

“There’s nothing wrong.” It’s just that I don’t want to be seen with you…

“Sorry, Lee Donghae, but I really need to go home now. Please eat on your own” I told him hurriedly

“Why? You told me that we would still be working after we eat. Why the rush now?” he asked, confused of my actions

“Change of plans. Let’s talk about this some other time. I forgot that I need to be back home early” I answered him vaguely as I hastily turned my back away from him and walked towards the direction of the park. I really need to get farther…

“Yah! Sandara Park! You’re a really confusing person! Aisht!” I heard him shouting behind my back.

I chose to ignore him and ran away as fast as I could

Sorry Lee Donghae, but I really need to go.

After a few minutes, I arrived in the park, heavily panting from being tired with all the running I did

I immediately walked towards an empty bench and sat on it. I stretched my legs and I inhaled deeply and exhaled to calm myself

I felt sweat falling from my forehead and so I searched my bag for my handkerchief but it wasn’t there. I searched in my pockets next but still, it was not there.

Aisht! I must have dropped it somewhere! Why am I so unlucky today?

“Ahhh… Really tiring! It’s been a long time since I did some serious exercise” I muttered as I closed my eyes and rested my head on the back rest of the bench, letting my sweat fall behind my head

I was slowly catching up to my breath when suddenly, I felt a cold object touched my face

I yelped in surprise and my eyes opened instantly.

“Hey! What was th—“ I was about to complain but I stopped immediately as I saw the person standing on the side of the bench

“You!” I gasped in surprise as I pointed at Suho who was holding two canned lemon juices

“Hi noona!” He greeted me with an overly friendly smile on his face

Oh no. I smell some serious questioning happening in a few seconds.

Suho’s POV

I was serving my last customer for the day when my eyes suddenly landed on the glass window

I got surprised when I saw a familiar girl outside the café I’m working at. She was with a man that I’ve never seen before

Dara-noona…? I muttered as I saw her staring at me with wide eyes. I was about to come to her when she suddenly broke our eye contact and grabbed the man away from the café

I frowned in confusion. I’m sure that who I saw was Dara-noona… and she was with a man… Hmmm… but why did she have to run away from me? I’m positive that she saw me… hmmm… now that is weird…

I was lost in deep thought when my manager suddenly called my attention

“Suho-yah! You may go now. You did good today as well. Keep it up!” he said as he handed me my salary for the day

“Thank you very much manager-nim! I’ll be going now!” I responded with a smile.

I hurriedly fixed myself and grabbed my things. I went out of the café and decided to search for Dara-noona. They would’ve not gone that far… it had only been a few minutes anyway…

I searched left and right when a man suddenly bumped me

“Oh mian—“I was about to apologize to the man but I was surprised to see that it was the same guy that Dara-noona was with a while ago

He looked really mad and confused at the same time. So, where is noona now? Why aren’t they together?

“Excuse me, but ha—“I was about to ask him but he glared at me and walked off even before I could finish my sentence and without even apologizing

What an extremely rude guy… Now I’m curious why Dara-noona is hanging out with a guy like him… I wondered as I made my way towards the direction where the guy came from.

 I don’t like judging people but I can pretty much sense that he is no good. I need to talk to noona about this…

I was a few meters away from the park when I saw Dara-noona sitting alone on a bench. Her head was lying on the back rest and she was breathing heavily

She must be tired… I chuckled

I went to the vending machine near her location and grabbed two cans of lemon juice. I quietly made my way towards her, making sure that she won’t feel my presence. She was panting really hard and she was sweating a lot. Why did she have to run away from me anyway…?

I raised one of the cans and pressed it on her cheek making her yelp in surprise

“Hey! What was th—“she immediately opened her eyes and when she saw that it was me, her eyes widened

“You!” she gasped, obviously flabbergasted by my presence

“Hi noona!” I greeted her with an overly friendly smile on my face.

Noona looks really funny right now. She looked like a person caught stealing, a housewife caught cheating and a kid who got lost!

I chuckled and chose to sit beside her. She is obviously avoiding any eye contact with me as she is staring at the ground right now. I can also feel an awkward tension between us

“Noona, what is so interesting about the ground? Can’t you see this handsome man sitting beside you?” I joked, trying to lift the tension. She raised her head and blankly stared at me. I winked at her and after a few seconds of probably holding her laughter, she chuckled

“Aigoo, Suho-sshi, are you flirting with me?” she said in between her laughter. I joined her for a while when I suddenly remembered the question that I need to ask her

“Uhm so noona, if I may ask, who was that guy with you a while ago? Is he your—“I was cut off when noona suddenly covered my mouth with both of her hands.

“No, Suho! Don’t say it! It’s definitely not what you think! We are definitely not in that kind of relationship!” she said, obviously startled with what I was about to say

I gently removed her hand on my mouth and gave her a smile. I know that Dara-noona is older than me and I know that she already knows what she is doing, but still, personally seeing her hanging out with people like that guy a while ago is a totally different topic.

We continued staring at each other for a while until she broke off our eye contact.

“Suho-yah… That guy is my classmate and we just met because we were assigned as partners for a project…” She started explaining without looking at me again. “I don’t even consider him as a friend so if you’re thinking that we were in some kind of ridiculous relationship, please stop” she added with more conviction in her tone

I can’t help but chuckle. She is acting all defensive even if I had not said anything yet. But it is really a good thing that they are not in a close relationship or whatsoever. I don’t want his jerkiness to rub off on to noona

“Hey Suho! Why are you laughing?” she asked while pouting

“Hmmm… Nothing noona! I just thought that you’re really cute!” I exclaimed, making her blush instantly. Aigoo, she is really an adorable noona.

“Aisht, this guy! Stop teasing me okay!” she said while patting her face. I saw traces of sweat on her forehead so I grabbed my handkerchief to pat her forehead dry making her flinch

“Aigoo, noona! You shouldn’t let yourself be all dried up with sweat! You might get sick” I scolded her like how a father scolds his child

She frowned. “Suho, I’m older than you! Why are you and Kris always acting like you’re both older than me…? Ah really, I should be the one scolding you and taking care of you, not otherwise!” she exclaimed

That’s the exact reason why Kris-hyung, me and the other boys are so protective of you… it’s because you are doing everything for us not only when Grandma Tae hee died but even before…

“Tsss, noona. Don’t say that. You know that Kris-hyung and I have a reason why we scold you. It’s not for our own pleasure but for you…” I explained as I stopped patting her forehead and looked away

An awkward silence enveloped us not until she spoke again

“Suho-yah… I’m sorry okay… It’s just this noona doesn’t want you and the other Exo boys to worry about me…” she said in a soft tone

I sighed. Noona is always like this… thinking about others rather than herself…

I chose not to answer her and looked around the area.

I was suddenly hit by a realization.

This exact place holds the memory of my life before I came to Grandma Tae Hee’s home!

I gasped unconsciously making Dara-noona stare at me in concern

“What’s wrong Suho-yah?” she asked worriedly

I smiled at her and heaved a deep sigh.

“Noona, I think that I haven’t told you yet and the other boys why I am with you guys right now… Can I share my story with you…?” I asked her

I saw that she was shocked from what I said but eventually, she relaxed and gave me a sincere smile

“Okay, please tell me, Suho” She said with eyes full of warmth while tapping my shoulder gently
