Sehun’s POV

 

Ahhh… The day I turn 15 has finally come! I said as I stretched my arms and stood from my bed

 

I hope that this day will be good!

 

I had woken up early on this special day. I am that excited.

 

I immediately fixed myself for school before going out of my room.

 

After a full 30-minute preparation, I am now wearing my uniform that is neatly ironed, my hair combed well and a big goofy smile on my face.

 

Perfect! I exclaimed as I checked myself on the mirror

 

I went downstairs and headed to the dining room. The boys must be there already

 

When I reached the dining room, I peeked in slowly and I saw D.O-hyung & Lay-hyung cooking some waffles in the kitchen; Kris-hyung is sipping coffee while reading a newspaper, Suho-hyung is reading a physics text book, while Baekhyun-hyung and Chen-hyung are setting the table. I snickered. The others must still be asleep! Even my Dara-noona isn’t here yet! I thought

 

I inhaled deeply before entering

 

“Good morning, my Exo brother-hyungs!” I greeted cheerfully while tilting my head on the side

 

One by one, their head turned towards my directions and they gave me a smile

 

“Good morning Sehun-ah…” Suho-hyung greeted me back and I stared at him. I was waiting for him to greet me for my birthday but it didn’t came

 

Aigoo, he had probably forgotten about it since he’s got lot to think about recently. I thought as I glanced at the other guys in the room. I wonder who would greet me first.

 

“Sehun, take a sit so you could eat breakfast and leave early for school” Kris-hyung commanded me. I stared at him meaningfully and he just looked at me.

 

“What?” he asked with his usual monotonous voice

 

“Nothing hyung!” I said as I made my way towards a free chair. Well, he’s not the type of person to do greetings anyway.

 

Baekhyun-hyung suddenly shoved a plate with waffles in front of me.

 

“Eat up Sehunnie” he told me with his charming smile on.

 

I stared at him and he stared back

 

We stared at each other and I was startled when he suddenly went nearer, our noses almost touching

 

“What’s wrong with you, Sehun-ah? Why are you staring?” he asked me

 

“Nothing hyung! I’ll eat now!” I immediately diverted the conversation. Even Baek-hyung hasn’t greeted me yet! I’m starting to feel bad!

 

D.O-hyung, Lay-hyung and Chen-hyung sat down and went ahead and ate. I looked at them as they ate in silence and they were not even looking at me.

 

Did they really forgot about my birthday? I could’ve understood if it was Kris-hyung and Suho-hyung but why the others too?

 

We ate breakfast in silence. Not only was I eating with a heavy heart, I was also eating with the most quiet people in the house.

 

Chanyeol-hyung and Xiumin-hyung, the mood makers are not yet here. Kai-hyung who often cracks some nasty jokes is not here as well. Tao, who goes to the same school as me is still asleep. My Dara-noona might be coming late for school again. And Luhan-hyung should have been—

 

Wait, Luhan-hyung? Where’s my Luhan-hyung?!

 

“Uhm, have you guys seen Luhan-hyung? Doesn’t he usually wake up early?” I asked my hyungs. It’s unusual for Luhan-hyung to wake up late. He is a good student and he was never late nor absent in school, except of course when he is really sick.

 

“Luhan? He went out early. He was saying something about going to school early for a project presentation” Lay-hyung replied

 

I was really hurt. Hyung should’ve greeted me before leaving. Before, he would be the one to greet me first. Now, not only did hyung left without greeting me, the other boys had forgotten about it as well.

 

I lost my appetite.

 

“Ahh… Is that so? I have to leave now hyungs. I need to be early for school today too. Please tell Tao that I’ll meet him in school” I said as I stood up. This is the first time that I was not able to finish my plate. I’m sorry D.O-hyung and Lay-hyung, I’m really not in the mood to eat anymore.

 

“Tao? He said that he’ll be going to school at the second period. He was complaining last night about not being able to sleep because of drinking too much coffee while studying. So I guess you’ll meet him in the afternoon” D.O hyung answered me.

 

Even Tao, my bestfriend?

 

Tao and I are of the same age and we attend the same school. Before, all of the Exo boys attend the same school but ever since the other hyungs entered high school, they chose to enter a school of their own preference.

 

Tao, Kai-hyung and I attend the same school

 

Chanyeol-hyung, Baekhyun-hyung and D.O-hyung are enrolled at a school near our home

 

Luhan-hyung, Lay-hyung, Chen-hyung and Xiumin-hyung chose to go to a public school that was known to produce successful students.

 

So I’ll be all alone in the morning huh. What a good way to start this supposed-to-be special day, I sadly thought

 

“Is--, is that so? I’ll be leaving now then. Please tell him I’ll meet him in school. I’m going now, see you later hyungs” I bowed and tried to sound as normal possible.

 

“Okay. Be careful on your way, Sehun” Kris-hyung reminded me. I only nodded at him and headed towards the door. This day

“Finally he’s gone! If he stayed any longer, I would’ve hugged and greeted him” D.O said as he covered his face with his hands. “Aigoo, did you see how sad his face was?”

 

“I was also feeling a bit guilty. But this is necessary to make the surprise better” Baekhyun responded

 

“Sehunnie surely can’t hide his feelings well. He was trying to act normal but you know that he was really disappointed” Lay added

 

“Well, Baek is right. What we did was necessary; it is included in our plan anyway right, Kris-hyung?” Suho stated

 

“Yes, so you guys better do your part for the plan well. I don’t want us failing on this surprise arasso?” Kris stated firmly.

 

“We surely will!” the younger boys exclaimed

 

 

We’ll be sure that Sehun would never forget about this day, they thought

Author’s POV

 

Sehun stared at nothing in particular while munching on a red velvet cupcake.

 

He was feeling really down and being alone at the moment isn’t really helping

 

It was a good thing though that his classmates had remembered his birthday. As soon as he entered his classroom in the morning, his classmates had greeted him cheerfully. Even some of his fan girl classmates had prepared presents for him. Most gifts were sweets like cupcakes and cookies. He appreciated their effort and he tried his best to give them a warm smile. Even though he was really sad, he tried his best to act that he was happy.

 

He stared at the gifts that he received. I’m really thankful for my classmates. If not for them, I would’ve cried already due to extreme sadness, he thought. Ahh… Really! Where is Tao when you need him?!

 

Lunch break is almost over and the second period is about to start. Sehun was waiting for Tao but there is still no sign of him.

 

Suddenly, Kevin, their class president tapped his shoulder.

 

“Hey Sehun, Tao asked me to tell you that he won’t be coming to school today because his head really hurts. He also said that you take care when you go home” he said making Sehun gasp in shock

 

“How did he tell you that, Mr. President?! Tao doesn’t even have a cell phone!” Sehun exclaimed

 

“Well, I was really surprised too when Ms. Han told me that I have a call from Tao. According to Ms. Han, he called her and told her that he won’t be coming to school, and that he wanted to talk to me” he explained then the bell rang. “I’ll be going now Sehun, my job is done. Better keep your cupcakes too since the second period will start soon” he reminded as he walked away.

 

Sehun stared at his retreating back. Why did Tao called him and not me? Really! This day just keeps getting worse by the minute, he murmured as he pulled his hair in frustration

 

I really want to cry now!

 

The day went on and still, no words from the Exo boys.

 

Sehun’s class ended at 5 pm but he didn’t want to go home yet.

 

He walked aimlessly not knowing that he reached a familiar place,

 

Their old house

 

He stopped in front of their old gate and wondered

 

Should I enter? What if there are ghosts inside?! Aigoo, what am I thinking?! Of course there are none. Luhan-hyung, Dara-noona, Tao and I often visit this house and we’ve never encountered any ghost before! He smiled.

 

But when he remembered Luhan, Dara and Tao, he felt his chest tightening. It was really painful when your loved ones didn’t remember you on your special day.

 

He decided to enter. He was surprised to see the house clean.

 

Wow! It’s sparkly clean! Did Luhan-hyung or Dara-noona go here to clean? He wondered as he had temporarily forgot about his sadness.

 

He walked around and when he reached the living room, he found his most favourite picture of their family.

 

It was taken at Lotte world for his birthday. He turned five years old that day. His father was carrying him and his mother was holding the seven-year old Luhan’s right hand. All of them had a bright smile on their faces showing how happy they were at that time.

 

 

This picture… This was the first and last time I went to Lotte World. It was really memorable and I had fun. He picked up the picture frame and stared at it sadly. Who would’ve thought that this was the last time that I would celebrate my birthday with my parents? We were a happy family and my parents were good people. No one would have thought that our parents will die early.

 

As far as I remember, my parents were both warm people. My mom is a very cheerful person and she was surrounded by a lot of friends. Meanwhile, my father was really a silent person. He didn’t talk much but he treated me and hyung very well.

 

It was supposed to be a normal afternoon for me when our parents died. It happened all too quickly.

 

We only knew the story of their death from our relatives

 

They were in the mall that day and they left me and hyung at home.

 

That day, it was all too unfortunate that they had encountered a lunatic at the mall. He just suddenly went crazy and attacked any person he sees. The cops decided to take action to get rid of him but they couldn’t because the lunatic held a hostage

 

My mother

 

The police tried to negotiate with the man. After a while, he became calmer and he was slowly releasing my mother.

 

They thought that it was already okay but one of the police made the wrong move.

 

He immediately went to tackle the lunatic even if the man had not yet fully released my mother.

 

It was a struggle and the man grew more aggressive. My father tried to approach them to save my mother but it was too late.

 

The police had caught him but was it was too late. The man had stabbed my mother in the neck, hitting her carotid artery. The man had dropped my mother on the floor and my father went to kneel in front of her immediately.

 

He couldn’t believe it.

 

My mom was not breathing anymore and gushes of blood continued to flow through her neck

 

My father was frozen as tears burst out from his eyes.

 

He was frozen on his own world and he didn’t notice that the man had escaped from the grip of the policemen.

 

There and then, our parents died, in the most drastic way.

 

 

He wiped his tears that poured out from his eyes. He was now sitting on the bed of his old room

 

I can’t believe I’m being this sentimental on my own birthday. I should be happy that I am still able to live up to this day. But my heart really hurts. I know that I shouldn’t feel this resentment towards my current family, but I can’t help it. Moreover, I can’t accept the fact that my very own brother had forgotten about it. He promised me that he would always celebrate it with me. Even Dara-noona who promised me that she’ll always protect me and be my noona forever had forgotten about me!

 

I’m being childish but it really hurts! I always wanted to have a happy birthday because that was the last gift that my parents had given me. I don’t to be alone on my birthday!

 

That did it

 

Sehun wailed loudly not minding if he was being too loud

 

“I don’t want this! I don’t want this! Luhan-hyung and Dara-noona lied to me!” he wailed endlessly. He punched the pillow on his bed before he threw it on the bedside table making the lampshade on it fell.

 

He stopped crying when he knew what he did

 

“Oh my God! I destroyed the lamp shade! Hyung said never break or change anything in this house because everything holds a special memory!” he panicked as he tried to pick up the broken pieces. While he was busy cleaning his mess, he noticed a piece of paper below his bed

 

It was a paper with a drawing of three people. He picked it up and smiled at the way it was drawn

 

It was drawn by Dara the first time they had visited their house after Grandma Tae Hee took them into her care.

 

 

“Alright! So this small kid in the middle would be Sehunnie, the one on the left holding Sehun’s hand would be Luhan and I am the girl holding Sehunnie’s right hand!” Sandara proudly declared as she showed them her drawing.

 

Luhan tried his best to supress his laughter because she didn’t want Dara to feel bad.

 

Dara may be intelligent but her artistic skills are below human capacity. It was the only thing that could crumble Dara’s confidence. She was really sensitive about her lack of creativity

 

The three of them were silent not until Sehun couldn’t contain his laughter anymore

 

“What is this Dara-noona?! Are these really human?! They look like sticks with a bun on their head!” he laughed loudly as he pointed at the drawing

 

Sandara pouted

 

“What’s wrong with my drawing? I do think that it is really cute…” she defended. Her voice full of sadness

 

Luhan and Sehun felt that something was wrong. Luhan nudged Sehun and gave him a meaningful look.

 

“Uhhmm… err… I take back what I said noona. Your drawing is really amazing!” Sehun beamed while smiling cheerfully

 

Sandara smiled in return

 

“Okay! So you see, this will serve as our contract” she said

 

“Contract? What for, noona?” Luhan asked

 

“Well, this would serve as our lifetime agreement that the two of us would always protect and take care of Sehun. A good noona and a good hyung for our baby Sehunnie!” she explained cutely

 

Luhan flushed and Sehun can’t help but smile

 

He was really happy that he had met Dara

 

“Then, should we put our signatures on it? Like what the older people do?” Luhan asked her and grabbed a red crayon

 

“Of course! That is important to seal our agreement!” Dara exclaimed as she signed the paper. She wrote her name Sandara Park and the other two did the same as well.

 

“Done! Here you go Sehunnie! Keep this!” she said

 

“Noona, I want this to be posted here in my room. So every time that we visit our house, we will be reminded of our agreement” Sehun suggested

 

“Good idea!”

 

After a few minutes, Dara’s drawing was posted in the wall of Sehun’s room.

 

“Alright! This will be here forever. How about we head home now? Grandma and the other boys must be worrying already” Sandara said as she grabbed the hands of the two boys

 

“Let’s go!” both exclaimed as they went out of their old house happily

 

 

Sehun smiled as he remembered the story behind the drawing.

 

“Noona is really dorky when she was younger. Dorky, adorable and cute” Sehun murmured as he picked up a tape on his bedside table. 

 

He reposted the drawing and made sure that it was posted well and won’t fall off.

 

“Aigoo, enough of this drama already! I should just be happy that I’m still with noona, hyung and the other Exo boys!” he patted his face as he calmed himself

 

Okay! I can go home now! Adorable Sehun is back! he thought. He also noticed through his window that it was already dark. He checked his watch and it was already 7 pm. Crap! I didn’t notice the time! They might be worried for me now. I need to go home immediately.

 

He was about to grab his bag when suddenly, the light in his room went off.

 

Is this for real?!

 

It was totally pitch black and he can’t see anything.

 

Sehun started to panic.

 

No. no, no! This can’t be happening! There are no ghosts! Ghosts are not real! Ghosts are not—

 

He was startled when he heard the door creak.

 

Oh my God! Did someone  just opened the door?!

 

He was really scared. He flailed his arm in attempt to reach any weapon that could protect him.

 

Unfortunately, there was none.

 

Cold air passed by him as he felt something, or someone getting near him. He couldn’t tell where the footsteps that he was hearing coming from

 

“No please! I’m still too young to die of heart attack! Holy cow, I just turned 15 this day and I still want to live! Please don’t eat me! Please don’t kill me!” he begged frantically while crying.

 

He was moving from side to side when he felt someone grabbed both sides of his shoulders from behind.

 

He froze.

 

He was about to turn around to face the creature but what it did shocked him

 

He felt the creature’s head getting closer to his left ear.

 

He was holding his breath until the creature opened his lips

 

“Boo”

 

Sehun’s eyes widened in surprise

 

 

At that moment, the silence of the night was disturbed by an ear-splitting scream of a very scared boy,

 

Sehun
