Wedding

Not Another Fairytale

Thursday morning, Hee Rin went to the university to get her things there. The Queen called the university two days ago about Hee Rin leaving the school.

She doesn’t want to leave. But she couldn’t protest. Myungsoo doesn’t give her a chance to explain herself…

“Hey…” Jihae greets her as she steps in their room for the last time. She beams at her.

“you’re quite popular now huh” Jihae snickers as she nodded at the students watching Hee Rin in an amused face and was murmuring something to each other as they gave her a head to toe look. Hee Rin politely smiles.

“Your engagement was the headline in the newspaper” Jihae informs and Hee Rin bites her bottom lip. She saw it too… She saw the newspaper earlier and a part of her was happy and sad too. She was happy because she’s going to marry the one she loves and she knew she’ll be happy with him in the future.. But she’s sad too, knowing the fact that she has to sacrifice things that she loves to do in order to please the Royals…

She wants to protest and tell the King that she has her own choice and that she doesn’t want to stop schooling and that she doesn’t want to abandon her dreams like that since she worked hard for it for a long time… But she knew she can’t do it, because marrying the man you love means you have to give respect to the people he loves too… Even if it means you have to sacrifice your own happiness.

“You’re one lucky girl” Jihae grins while pointing the paintbrush at Hee Rin, earning a playful slap from her.

“I will miss you Jihae” Hee Rin suddenly croaks and pulled her friend for a hug.

“Hey! It’s not like we’re not going to see each other often after you got married!” Jihae chortled and patted her friend’s back. “We can still hang out” She added and Hee Rin couldn’t help but frown.. She wishes she can hang out with her often after her marriage… She wishes that it was that easy… But she knew it wasn’t and all she could do is to move on.

What Hee Rin realizes is that when marrying someone, you have to make big adjustment in your life… And she swears it wasn’t easy… It’s like you’re going to begin your life again from the very start.

After she did her things in the university and bade goodbye to her friends, she was called by Myungsoo’s assistant that she needs to be at the shop where she’s going to fit wedding dresses for her… She tries to call Myungsoo and was wondering if he’ll be there with her but he’s not answering his phone…

When she arrives at the shop, she couldn’t help but to smile at the most elegant dresses she have ever seen in her whole life… She feels like a princess surrounded by countless wonderful dresses and she couldn’t help but to dreamily gaze at them… Thinking if her wedding dress will be as elegant as these.

“Ms. Hee Rin” A voice called from behind and Hee Rin spun around to see the man wearing a suit. His hair was in dark brown and he has a very cute smile. She her head to the side when she noticed that he was staring at her with wide eyes and mouth ajar.

“Are you okay?” She asks and the guy blinks at her, regaining his composure. *What the hell! I didn’t know she’s this pretty in person! Master L should be careful* Taemin thought.

“Hi. I’m Lee Taemin. Prince Myungsoo’s assistant” Taemin grins and offer a hand shake which Hee Rin happily accepted.

“Nice to meet you Taemin” She smiles and peered behind him. “Where’s L?” She asked with furrowed brows and Taemin looks away, unable to find a perfect reason for his absence.

“He has a very important meeting to attend so I’ll be the one to accompany you” Taemin reasoned and frowns as Hee Rin nodded in understanding. *He’s not here to help you choose your wedding dress and you still understand him?!* He thought to himself. *He’s dating his true girlfriend now you stupid!* He wants to tell her.

“Well… I guess you have to help me choosing the best wedding gown then Mr. Taemin” She gave him a smile and drags him towards the big wardrobe full with gowns.

Hours have passed and they were still choosing a wedding gown. A lady whom Hee Rin assumed as the designer was suggesting Hee Rin the most expensive and beautiful gown but she doesn’t want it.

Taemin would nudge her and would whisper. “You should choose the one with that long gorgeous veil, it sure suits on you” He says, tired of eyeing anymore gowns.

“I find it too captivating and expensive too! I just want simple and cheaper ones” she slightly pouts and Taemin rolls his eyes. This girl.

She could’ve chosen the expensive ones! She’s marrying a prince for goodness sake! What kind of fashion sense does she have? Taemin would wonder and can’t help but to roll his eyes at every gown she’s eyeing.

Soon enough, Hee Rin finally agreed to the designer and chooses the simplest yet elegant dress she has laid her eyes with. Taemin nods in amusement when he saw the sketch of the dress and gave Hee Rin thumbs up.

Hee Rin was happy to choose her wedding gown, but she could’ve been happier if her groom was there to help her.

--

A month and a half have passed when the wedding day has finally arrived.
Everyone was so excited that they even anticipate for the actual video of the exchanging of ‘I do’s’ of the most trending couple this past few weeks.
The nation was very excited and was sending their greetings to their beloved prince. All over the news was rather the picture of the couple or the updates of their wedding… It was grand. They believed that it was the wedding that everyone can be envious of. But what they didn’t know is the wedding that they were anticipating… is just fake.

Hee Rin tightly grips on her Dad’s arm as they stand in front of the big doors that will soon open for her to enter. Her lips were trembling and her hands were sweating out of nervousness. Cameras were all over, waiting for the entrance of the soon to be wife of the second prince.

“Hey” Her dad softly calls as he patted her hand. She looks up at him behind the veil. “You know, you still have a minute to change your mind” He smiles and Hee Rin chuckles as a tear started to appear in her beautiful eyes. She inhales.

“I’m not backing away dad” She says at the same time when the door opens and the orchestra begun to play… Flashes of cameras greeted her entrance and the guests stood up as they watch her every step towards the altar. Though she was happy that the place was full of guests, she couldn't help but to feel a bit sad. She didn't know almost everyone in this place. Myungsoo and the Queen was the one who invites the guests and they didn't gave her a chance to invite her friends... They said that the president nad other VIP families should be the one invited in this kind of occasion and not just some people.

Her wedding dress was very simple yet it compliments her beauty, that’s what most of the guest thinks of as they eyed her with amazement. She was stunningly beautiful; everyone knows it… even the one that awaits her at the altar. Myungsoo couldn’t help but to smile, though he doesn’t love her, he couldn’t help but to feel his pride as he noticed every man in the crowd eyeing his bride dreamily.

“See these people.. You barely knows them yet they were here to celebrate your special day” Hee Rin’s dad says as they slowly walk on the red long carpet. She looks up at him and he was staring blankly ahead.

“You have to know that after an hour, when you’re finally tied with the prince, you have to learn to know this people and get along with them” He advices while caressing her hand that was circling his arm. “I want you to know that what you’re going to enter isn’t a happily ever after but a battle” He says and Hee Rin notices that his lips were trembling and he wasn’t blinking.

“Dad…” she calls and he hummed. “I want to thank you for everything… For taking care of me” she says and smiled up at him. He didn’t reply nor did look at her but a tear escaped his eye. He purposely makes their walk slow, good thing the place was so big and the pathway was rather long.

“Dad… We’re actually taking the whole time with this walk” she points out with a slight laugh and her dad painfully smiles.

“Let them wait. I want to cherish this remaining time with my princess while she’s still mine.. Cause any moment you’ll be in someone else’s hand” He croaks and tears started to welled up in his eyes.

“I still remember when your mom was the one walking towards the altar beside her father. I was stunned by her beauty that moment that I didn’t realize her dad was trembling more than her” He tells. “I didn’t know it was this painful” he says and Hee Rin took a deep breath. She realize that she never really heard her dad talk about this kind of things before.. In fact, he never really talked that much.

“Your mom was the most beautiful girl I have ever seen and I never thought that time will pass quickly when I will watch my another beautiful princess in another man’s hand” he laughs as a tear rolled down his cheek. 4 steps till they reach the altar.

Hee Rin was speechless. When they reached Myungsoo, her father faced him in a manly way and gave him a warning look before giving her hand to Myungsoo. “Thank you sir” Myungsoo says with a smile as he take Hee Rin’s hand.

“Myungsoo” Mr. Park speaks as he encircles his hands on Myungsoo’s and Hee rin’s hand. “Promise me that you will treat my daughter special and that you will never hurt her” He orders and Myungsoo tries to give him a smile. “I love her with all of my heart and the last thing I want is to see her cry” He finishes, letting their hands go… At that moment, Myungsoo suddenly felt guilty. Because he didn’t understand how a father can love his child…

“You have to be brave… I love you my princess” Mr. Park smiles as he nodded at her with a satisfied smile. Hee Rin finally cries and tears started streaming down her cheeks… She never knew she would miss her father this much… She realizes that they haven’t been bonding before and she barely remembers the time when he plays with his children since he was always busy and serious… She didn’t know that her Dad can actually cry…

Somehow, a part of her wants to run away and spend some more time with her family before she gets married...

“Let’s do this” Myungsoo whispers and Hee Rin snaps back into reality while sobbing. She looks up at him and saw her future in his eyes.. She knew she will be happy with him and prayed to God to guide their relationship.

In that, the ceremony has begun and the exchanges of ‘I do’s’ has finally arrived… Everyone erupted in a loud cheer…
But what they didn’t know is that this couple standing in front of the altar will soon be taking the attentions of the nation again, not because of their perfect life but because of the life they thought was perfect...
