The Boys Admit To Themselves
Sunflowers Under the Sun
Yoon Ah had lunch with the boys, strumming her guitar and after, when she got up to leave, Yi Jong pulled her arm. “You haven’t slept, have you? Come here.” He said and she tried to pull her arm away.
“No, you’re going to put me to sleep.” She protested and he pulled her harder.
“Only because you look like an adorable zombie.” He said, pulling her into the chair next to him.
“I have never been adorable. You should be grateful I look as good as I do. I spent two days cooking your little feast.” She complained and he laughed. She punched him and he tugged her hair playfully. “You never appreciate me.” She said and he almost felt guilty. She had worked day and night to help them, with little reward for herself.
“Keep still, I need to finish working on this song.” He said, opening his notebook and he started rubbing her ear. It was a trick he had learned in primary, for when the brat wouldn’t sleep at nap time. It had actually become a soothing action that helped him think as well. She protested, but he ignored her, until he felt her head on his shoulder.
He looked at her as she slept and smiled. He had missed her. She was dressed funny today, but he supposed he didn’t mind too much. She looked like, well, a girl and that was strange. He pushed her hair out of her face and she nuzzled into his shoulder. He looked at the song he was writing and then back at her. She looked pretty in makeup, but he didn’t ever remember her wearing it before.
That meant she probably hadn’t. Ji Yong hadn’t forgotten much about Yoon Ah, not since they were little. They had been by each other’s side for all their lives. She had been there every time he needed support. She had always been his rock, but to this day, she had only asked for his support once and he had failed her. Her parents had just divorced and she had come to him, crying. He had tried to comfort her, but at such a young age, he couldn’t.
Seeing her sad had made him cry until he had no more tears left to give her. She had ended up comforting him. Even in her darkest, saddest moment, she had been his rock. He wanted to be that for her. He wanted to be able to hold her and tell her everything would be okay. He wanted to let her live in a world where she never had to worry; where she could relax.
Young Bae saw Yoon ah asleep on Ji Yong’s shoulder and jumped up. “If she was that tired, she should have gone home.” Seung Hyun said and Yound Bae couldn’t help, but agree. There was no reason for her to be out in public, laying on Ji Yong’s shoulder like that. It was unseemly and made him uncomfortable, for some reason.
Young Bae picked Yoon Ah up and Ji Yong’s head snapped up from his notebook. “I’ll put her in our room.” Youn Bae said and Ji Yong blinked for a moment before nodding. She was clearly dead tired and having her sleep sitting up was ridiculous. Young Bae waked off and Yoon Ah opened her eyes for a moment.
“Young Bae?”
