Confrontation

Let's Take A Picture

Confrontation

_____________________________________________________________________________

I woke up facing the darkness which like always was a part of the shift between day and night. My phone, which was placed beside my pillow, was showing that the clock was 2AM and that I had received a message. Without any kind of hesitation I grabbed my phone and opened the message.

‘It’s a deal’

I couldn’t help, but smile a bit satisfied over the answer and got out of bed without making much noise. In a quick tempo I opened my closet and grabbed some random clothes, before I quickly slipped in it and headed towards the door. I grabbed the doorknob and opened the door only to stand face to face with Kris.

His hands immediately fell onto my shoulders as he began to walk and push me back into the room. Why was still awake at this time? And second, and most important, why was he here?

“Where do you think you are going?” He asked as he kept walking forward. It shouldn’t be a secret, that I feared my back would hit the wall and we would be standing in front of each other like in those dramas where the two main characters starts kissing each other and stuff… Oh God.

“I just needed a glass of water,” I lied and grabbed his wrists and tried to pull his hands of off my shoulders, but even if I tried to pull it was like his hands didn’t move at all.

“And you really need to be fully dressed to do that?” he asked and looked down at me, his eyes full of disbelief.

I had no idea about what to answer him, so I ended up nodding like a crazy person.

It was easy to see that he didn’t believe me, as he finally let his hands fall off my shoulders. He placed them by his sides and looked down at me like I was some kind of kid, who just had smashed a vase or something. I couldn’t help but look down, as I felt his glare on me. I felt a bit bad for lying him directly into the face and don’t keeping my promise.  Quilt, was eating my up from the inside.

He took a few steps back before I heard him sigh.

“Nana,” He started as I slowly took the courage to look up. “Where are you going at this hour?”

I looked around, in an attempt to get some kind of inspiration for another lie. My eyes fell on the window, where I just barely could see the threes move in the wind, and the snow falling down towards the ground. Everything was frozen and cold, the wind which never seemed to disappear, didn’t make it any better, but it was enough to give me the inspiration I needed.

“I just needed some air,” I said and finally looked up at him, my eyes meeting his. If there was one thing I had learned was it that if you looked a person in the eyes as you told a lie, your lie would seem more true and believable. But, if you were only of those people who unknowingly looked to the left or raised an eyebrow, you couldn’t do that.

He looked at me for a few seconds, before he nodded and turned around to leave the room, only to stop as he reached the door.

“I’ll come with you,” he said and looked back at me.

I could feel how my entire facial expression turned serious and almost threatening as I nodded and walked past him towards the hall, where I grabbed my jacket. I could hear him following me through the bookstore and outside, where he was the one to lock the door behind us.

I was about to zip up (?) my jacket as a pair of hands grabbed the edge of my jacket before I even got a chance to grab the zipper myself. I looked up as the sudden attention made me feel awkward. The sound of the zipper running up made me look down, as I noticed Kris’s hands just right under my chin.

“Thank you,” I mumbled and started to walk down the road with Kris just right by my side.

“Where exactly do you want to go?” He asked as he stopped his hands into his pockets.

The street was painted in all different kinds of dark colors. The light poles was throwing their orange lights on the ground and made everything seem nice and comfortable, it reminded me about those movies where a couple was walking down the road and suddenly some robbers or something would attack them and the man would save the woman and then they would kiss in the rain that randomly showed up out of nowhere.

“I don’t know,” I lied and pulled my shoulders, before I stopped my own hands into my pockets so they now were protected from the cold air and snow.

We kept walking for a few minutes, until we reached the park. I couldn’t help but curse about the fact that I had let Kris follow me. I should have asked him to stay home or told him to go to bed in that second he walked through the door.

As we started to reach the park I stopped and turned towards Kris, who stopped when he noticed I wasn’t following him any longer.

“I forgot my phone at home,” I said and closed my hands around the phone in my pocket. “Do you think… You mind going home and get it?”

He looked at bit suspicious at me, before he sighed and looked more serious than he used to. I could feel my heart beat faster and faster as I waited for his answer. I needed him to go, I needed to do this alone, without him standing behind me and protecting me from things he didn’t need to get involved into.

“Please,” I said… To be honest, I was pretty sure on, that he would tell me to forget about the phone, and tell me that we just should keep walking. I needed to think fast, if I wanted him to go.

“Is it that important?” He asked.

I nodded and looked down at my feet to avoid his glare. I heard him sigh again before he reached his hand out towards me: “Give me the key”.

I quickly found the key in my other pocket and gave it to him.

“Promise me that you’ll wait here,” he said and pointed at me like a strict parent. “And wait ‘till I come back, alright?”

“Alright,” I said and gave him a little smile. “Thank you, Oppa!”

He only shook his head and mumbled something before he started to walk away from me. A strange feeling spread across my chest as I saw him walk away. It felt like, he never was gonna come back, like he left me here alone forever, where I had to take of myself and fight to get through the days.

I felt tears running down my cheeks as his figure disappeared into the darkness of the night. I bit my lower lip, before I quickly turned around and started to run as fast as I could. The cold air hit me like a wave from the ocean, snow made everything seem more blurry than it already was. The silence was broken from the sound of my shoes hitting the snow under me, apart from that everything was silent. You couldn’t hear the cars and the noise from the city, it was just pure silence.

The park disappeared beside me; the same did the city, only to be replaced with a small bridge and trees. The silence was now gone and the only thing you could hear was the sound of water.

I walked out onto the middle of the bridge and turned around a couple of times to take a look at my surroundings. It could be a beautiful picture, with the trees which almost hung over the lake, the branches filled with white snow and the white skies above us. The grayish water underneath, with rushing water which hit the edges everything the wind showed its power.

“Admiring the view?”

I looked to my right to find MiYoung standing beside me. Her blonde hair hung around her head and shoulders as a dark beanie, which already was filled with snow, covered her hair. She wore gloves and a thick jacket which kept the cold away.

“I am,” I answered and looked down for a moment, before I once again got the courage back to look up and meet her dark eyes.

“So…. Nana,” she started as she began to walk towards me with elegant steps. “What exactly is it you want from me?”

For a few seconds I felt anger built up inside of me. She made it sound like I was the bad guy and she was the angle who tried to remove all the evil from this planet. My hands turned into fists as I turned towards her so I now was facing her completely.

“Stay away from Luna and Kris,” I said and stared into her eyes in an attempt to get some kind of hint of emotion. “They shouldn’t be involved into this and you know it”.

A smile slowly covered her lips as she kept walking towards me.

“He really means that much to you?” she said and placed her index finger on her lowers lips, like she was some kind of villain in a superhero movie.

“He’s important to me,” I said and looked down as her glare suddenly reminded me about Kris at the first time we met him. “He means a lot to me and I don’t want you to involve him into something there is between you and me”.

I hadn’t noticed how close she had come, until a pair of hands grabbed the collar of my jacket and I was lifted a few centimeters off the ground. My hands found automatically up to her wrists as I tried to prey them off me. My nails were digging into her skin, I scratched her over and over again, but she just seemed to feel no pain as she started into my eyes.

“Don’t say that he’s not a part of this,” she said. “If you just had stayed away as you promised, these things would never have happen”.

“Let go of me!” I said, as she suddenly let go and I feel to the cold ground under us.

She sat down in front of me and grabbed my chin to make me look up at her. “Listen to me JiMin… I’ve warned you a couple of times now, this is going to be the last time, understand? Stay away from Kris, or things are going to turn out pretty badly”.

She stared down at me for a couple of minutes, before she slowly got up and started to leave.

This wasn’t a part of our deal!

Without even thinking about what I was doing, I got up as fast as I could and ran towards her. It was like everything was going into slow motion as my hand made contact with the side of her face. I felt a hand lock itself around my arm as I was pushed to the other side.

I couldn’t help but notice the way, the adrenaline was rushing through my veins as my back hit the stone wall of the bridge.
