I've Only Known You For A Day And I Hate You

It's Complicated

My alarm clock woke me up at six in the morning. I quickly got up and took a shower. After that, I dressed up in my casual sweatpants, my plain shirt and my sneakers. I packed up a lot of clothes, my iPod, earphones and speakers. Today is the day that I meet my manager, hopefully. After packing up, I went downstairs for breakfast.

"Well isn't someone early today?" Dad said, reading the newspaper.

I giggled. "I have practice today."

"You got into YG?" Mom said, entering the dining room.

"Yes!" I screamed. "I was supposed to tell you last night but you were sleeping." We talked about how my day went yesterday, the surprise party with Big Bang and 2NE1. I also told them about my afternoon practices during weekdays

"Well, I hope you do well today. But don't overwork yourself." Mom reminded me as I gulped down the last of my orange juice.

"Thanks for breakfast! I'll go now!" I said, giving them each a hug. It's pretty stressful for a parent to send his daughter back to training, so I try not to worry them that much.

"Good luck!" Dad said as I raced outside the house. I took the usual bus to YG Entertainment where I see Young Gi talking to a woman about her age. Is she my manager-or-assistant. I practically ran to Young Gi, who greeted me.

"Good morning," I said, bowing to each of them. "Jiyonn," Young Gi said. "Meet your manager, Kim Na Young. She'll monitor your activities and performances starting today." I nodded and bowed to Na Young, who was smiling at me.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Jiyonn Lau."

"Hi Jiyonn. So, I will be your stalker from now on, eh?" She said jokingly, the three of us laughed as we entered the building. Na Young dressed more like a trainee or a choreographer rather than a manager; sweatpants, a tank top, a pair of skate shoes and a baseball cap.

"Well, I'll be off to my office now." Young Gi said, heading off.

"So, how does it feel being back to the studio?" Na Young asked as we walked.

"I had a bit of difficulty adjusting, but I'll soon get myself back in shape!" I said, giving her a two-thumbs-up.

"That's the spirit!" she replied, giving a two-thumbs-up. I greeted the people I met in the way and said hi to my 2NE1 unnies.

"Looks like you're good friends with them," Na Young commented as we entered my practice room. I gave her a smile and said, "They were my first friends since yesterday."

"So, you'll have dance practice then, vocal training in the afternoon. You'll get an hour of free time later at 12" She asked. I nodded in reply, taking out my iPod and speakers. Somehow, Na Young looked a bit like Rino Nakasone, a famous choreographer. They both had short hair a slim built.

"Are you a dancer, too?" I asked while doing some warm-ups.

"Sort of. I was a trainee before, majoring in dance, and I was given a slot to debut, but I turned it down." She said, looking at me.

"Why?"

"I felt like I had less determination than the others. It's pretty much of a long story, but then YG sunbae offered me a job as a dance instructor and just not long ago, he gave me a job to be your manager."

"Wow," was all I could say.

"Shall we get started?" She asked, checking out some songs on my iPod. "Ah, here. Get ready."

I danced some freestyle, modern jazz and hip hop, and she'd dance along with me and study my moves along the way. After the last routine for hip hop, she commented on my dancing.

"Not bad, actually. You still have that spark in you," she said, winking at me. "Really? Thanks!" Then I went back to practicing, sometimes, following her lead. She's really good in dancing, and I wondered what she meant by not having enough determination. I think she could be a match for Minzy with her fluid moves.

"Water break, five minutes." She smiled, handing me a bottle of water and my towel. "Thanks."

"So, Jiyonn," she said, indian sitting on the floor. "I head you were from SM, no?"

"I am. I mean, I was from SM." I looked down, sitting on the floor.

"I know you're probably tired of this, but can you tell me what happened? From what I heard, you were supposed to debut."

I sighed and hesitated. But from how Na Young looked, at me, I couldn't help but tell her. Even if I only knew her for some hours, I felt like she was a trustworthy person. "I was about to debut, with The Grace. But, three weeks before our official debut, I encountered an accident. I was on my way home from practice when I fell down a flight of stairs."

"Oh my," she said, covering .

"I was hospitalized for a very long time. I didn't even think I'd be able to survive. Surviving was pretty okay, but knowing that my accident caused a halt in the groups debut, I couldn't help but make decisions. I felt bad about myself and practically blamed everything on me. The debut was anticipated, so I felt bad if they had to postpone it, considering the teaser MV was almost done. So I had no choice but to withdraw from it; the debut, the group, my life as a future artist."

Na Young came closer to me and rubbed my shoulders. I didn't realize I was shaking recalling that.

"I left the stage without a word being said. I didn't even say goodbye to my sunbaes and co-trainees, but we keep in touch nowadays. After healing from the accident, I spent the years as an average girl; studying, going out with friends.."

I told her about how I saw the video which became my ticket to YG, leading me here; she said she'd seen it and she never thought that person was me.

"Thanks," I said, standing up. "Five minute's over. Dance practice again."

She laughed, getting up. "You got determination and discipline. Glad to see that." This time, we did some ballet dances, which was pretty challenging, but I didn't fail it, I guess.

"Well, since this is the first time I've seen you practice, I can say that you're very versatile, but you need to work on your flexibility and stamina. I've noticed that you get tired easily. But since you're sorta new to this, it's okay. Just practice some more." "

Yes, sunbae," I said, bowing.

"Oh no need to call me sunbae. You can just call me unnie." She smiled. "So you can have lunch now. Be back here at around 1, and you'll have vocal training. I'll be around teaching some trainees, so is it okay if I don't go with you for lunch?"

"No, no, it's okay." I said, fixing my things,

"See ya." She said, leaving the room. I locked the door and went to a corner to change clothes, I feel too lazy going to the changing rooms.

"You just went home like that last night," Ji Yong said when I opened the door, causing me to scream. "Ssh." He said.

"Well you told me to take the bus or whatever so i took the bus." I said, walking ahead. "Aren't you supposed to be practicing right now?"

"It's lunch time," he replied, following me. "want me to join you in eating?" He asked, smiling earnestly. For a second, my heart skipped a beat, but I shook my head. "Shouldn't you eat with someone else?" and I walked away as fast as possible.

I was starving by the time I arrive at the canteen. Since I was really, really hungry, I ordered kimchi fried rice, kimbap and a bowl of jajangmyun. I didn't care about gaining weight, anything just to satisfy my hunger. I went to an empty table and started eating. i felt like I was in heaven eating. The feeling of having a heavy meal after hours of practice was just indescribable.

"Easy there, you might choke," someone said, handing me a bottle of water. I looked up and saw Ji Yong. I swallowed the kimbap and took the bottle.

"Gee, thanks." I took the bottle and continued eating. He sat in the same table.

"I didn't tell you can eat with me." I said.

"I didn't tell you I was going to eat with you." He smiled triumphantly, opening his soda.

"Aren't you gonna eat?" I said, offering my almost-empty bowl of kimchi.

"No thanks. That might be not enough for you," he said, pushing the bowl back to me. "I might be kind all of a sudden eating that."

"Hey, I'm being civil, okay? Hmp, suit yourself." I said, eating the last spoonful of my rice. But I couldn't eat, much less drink. I'm only staring at the last spoonful; I feel so awkward right now.

"Why aren't you eating?" Ji Yong asked. I frowned.

"Ignore me while I am eating. Don't mind me, don't look at me." I said, but I guess this person here follows reverse psychology. He stared at me with a curious expression.

"Why? Because I'm good-looking?" He asked, and I lost my appetite completely.

"That's it!" I said, walking towards the trash can, throwing the plastic bowl and the bottle. "Get lost. I have vocal training."

But he was following me around, complaining. "But I have nowhere to go."

"Then," I said, rummaging for whatever ideas just to keep him away from me. "go to practices, do whatever. I'm busy." I arrived at my practice room with him still following around.

"Sunbae, go back to your practice room and stop bothering me." I tried to give him the best death glare I can do. But I guess it wasn't that threatening since he was laughing.

"You look cute rather than threatening," he said, pinching my cheeks and leaving. All of a sudden, my heart started to beat like crazy.

"YOU BIG-HEADED STUPID IDIOT!!!!!" I shouted and cursed in English after he left the room and closed the door. "I don't even know why I called you 'sunbae' in the first place." I changed my shirt and fixed my things, but my hands were shaking, I don't even know why.

"You look cute rather than threatening." What is wrong with you Jiyonn? You don't have time to fall in love, especially now. You can't; you just can't. Na Young soon arrived and assisted me to the vocal training room.

"Are you okay? You look nervous?" She asked.

I laughed an awkward laugh. "N-No, I'm okay."

We soon arrived at this so-called vocal training room. It was some kind of a studio, and since I was new, I had to meet the trainer personally for him to assess my abilities. There was also some musical instruments like this piano, guitar and more. I was sort of feeling confident until I saw 2NE1 and Big Bang in one corner.

"Why are they here?" I whispered to Na Young, trying to hide.

"I don't know. Supporting you, maybe?" She laughed. We entered the room and I greeted my sunbaes. Ji Yong gave me an "I'll-be-watching-you" look and I returned with an "I've-only-known-you-for-a-day-and-I-hate-you" look.

It's true anyway.
