Plot/ Summary: Hye Mi has always tried to be the perfect daughter to please her stepmom, which means she's never actually had fun before. Dongwoo has been her friend for years, although her stepmom hates him, and he has a huge crush on her. Dongwoo asks Hye Mi out on a date, which surprised her, to do all the things that Hye Mi's stepmom would never let her do. The thing is they have to sneak out and not get caught.

Hye Mi’s POV~

“Hye Mi! You are not going out of this house like that!” My step-mother scolded me. I looked down at my crisply ironed summer school uniform, my black shoes that I polished last night, and my hair falling straight down my back.

“What is it umma?” I ask in confusion. She only comes toward me and straightens my back.

“Don’t slouch! It’s bad for your posture.” She states with no emotion in her tone of voice and I can’t oblige. I’ve tried my whole life to be the perfect daughter for her and nothing seems to please her.

“Yes Umma.” I reply in a monotone voice. She suddenly brightens up and tells me,

“Don’t forget Hye Mi, you have a piano lesson after your classes today.” I nodded in response and headed for the door. My summer classes are basically prep classes for college. I know what you’re already thinking, why would a 16 year old go to college prep classes?! May I remind you of my mother?

“Have fun sweetie!” She says giving me a peck on the cheek, but then looks disapprovingly and wipes away her kiss.

“I forgot I was wearing makeup.” She comments and when I open the door I find Dongwoo standing there with his fist raised in the air, as if about to knock on the door. He moves back a couple of steps and bows formally at a 90 degree angle.

“A-annaseyo Mrs. Lee.” I can’t help but smile at his formalities. Will this be the day my mother finally accepts him as my friend? I look over with a hopeful expression….nope. She has a forced smile upon her lips and simply nods. Before she can add a snarky comment I take Dongwoo by the hand and drag him across my front lawn.

Dongwoo’s POV~

“You never learn do you?” She states puffing out her cheeks. I could only chuckle at her childish act and pat her head,

“I just thought you’d wanna hang out today. It’s a beautiful day out in Seoul …” I trail off and realize what she’s wearing -.-

“What?” She retorts placing her hands on her hips. Usually that would make someone seem strong and huge in presence. Yet it does the complete opposite for Hye Mi. It just makes her look more vulnerable.

“You have classes again?” I ask pointing to her shoes that are blinding my eyes with their shine =3=

“I always have classes on Mondays, you know that.” She replies rolling her eyes at me. I lean in and whisper,

“Did you ever have fun in your life?” I leaned back and saw her thinking for several seconds before finally understanding my joke. She aims a fist at me but I dodge it.

“Yah are you implying that I’m boring! I’ve had tons of fun! I’m cool! I’m hip!” At that last statement I was literally rolling on the floor laughing my off.

“Cool people don’t say hip Hye Mi!” I wheeze in between laughs. After several minutes she helps me up and I wipe away some tears that escaped after that hilarious moment.

“Did you ever defy you mom?” I ask randomly. She turns to me as if I told her Voldemort was her father.

“Do you WANT me to die?” I snicker at her honest answer and felt our hands gently collide as we were walking side by side.

I took a quick glance at her and couldn’t help but be amazed at her innocent beauty. The way her brown hair cascaded down her back, her eyes full of determination outlined by long lashes that graze her cheek bones, her cherry red lips that always have a snarky comment to my question, and her porcelain white skin illuminated by the grazing sun. I was entranced by her beauty when she suddenly looked my way and made an old man face b scrunching her nose and squinting her eyes -.- And that was the end of my fantasy.

“Hey Hye Mi, do you wanna go out somewhere with me? Today?” I asked and couldn’t help but smile at her shocked expression.

Hye Mi’s POV~

“Wait. What?” I ask in confusion and shock. He gently taps my forehead with his forefinger and says,

“Pabo, I know that brain of yours heard me the first time. Date with me, today.” I felt my cheeks turn a pink rosy color and I replied,

“Out of all the things you suggest, this should get my step-mom’s in a twist.” He gently leaned in and I can smell his spearmint gum wafting from his breath,

“Chicken?” I met his gaze and, even though my heart was pounding against my rib cage, I replied,

“No.” He gave me a cocky grin and replied,

“Great, so come on. Our date begins!“ He began running off toward the park ye I stayed where I was, tapping my foot on the ground.

“You pabo! How am I supposed to ignore my summer classes?” He made a sharp U-turn and ran back. He scratched the back of his head in embarrassment and had a (I hate to say this) adorable thinking face. He suddenly brightened up and said,

“I’ll go to summer classes with you, but we’ll have to sneak out.” My eyes widened in horror and he saw my reaction and challenged me yet again.

“Is the princess afraid to sneak out of the tower?”

Dongwoo’s POV~

We were already 30 minutes into the class when I glanced over at Hye Mi and she already had 3 pages of notes filled out O.o WTF?!?!?! I threw a note in her direction and saw her terrified expression. She quickly scribbled down a reply and tossed it back to me.

I’m gonna create a scene, and you’ll take me to the nurse, arasso? That’s our escape plan.

NO! Make up a better escape plan!!!! >///<

I couldn’t help but chuckle at her nervous expression. She looked at me from across the room and had a pleading look on her face. I simply saw the teacher stand before his class and ask,

“Any questions?” I gave Hye Mi a two -V sign and tumbled to the floor.

“Aish! It hurts so bad!”

 Hye Mi’s POV~

“Yah come back here!” I heard Dongwoo yell behind me and I could only laugh at the air and run even faster.

“It was you who wanted to sneak out! I had to make up something!” I yelled as he finally caught up to me and held me in a bear hug.

“That meant to make up a reasonable excuse! It doesn’t mean you announce to the whole class that you thought I had explosive diarrhea!” once I heard that come out of his mouth and see his blushing face I ended up laughing even more. The whole class snickered and the teacher had a grief stricken look on his face. We both were excused and then I ran for my life after seeing Dongwoo’s enraged expression.

“It’s ok, we both got out ne?” I say after a fit of giggles and he said,

“That deserves a punishment.” I looked in horror and thought, oh no, he’s going to dump me into the river. Or worse, he’ll stick me in a kiddie slide and get me stuck/ wedged there TT^TT I knew I shouldn’t have eaten all those bagels this morning. I squirmed out of his grasp and made another run for it, only to have him chase after me yet again :d

Dongwoo’s POV~

We somehow ended up walking to a nearby park and walked around the whole day, talking about some of the most random things possible.

“So are you having fun?” I asked her after I finished my cone of vanilla ice cream. She still had half of her cone left to go.

“Yah, I asked if you had fun.” U said and gently pushed the cone toward her nose, causing some of her vanilla ice cream to leave some of itself on the tip of her nose.

“Aigoo! Cold!~” She squealed and quickly wiped away at her nose.

“Revenge!” She yelled out and stuffed the ice cream toward my own face.

“Oh, you so should not have done that.” I say in a joking manner and she crosses her hands over her chest.

“Because I still owe you revenge for the classroom excuse.” He eyes widened in horror and before she could run away yet again, I quickly pulled her in close and gently placed my cold lips onto her own.

Hye Mi’s POV~

His lips were so cold, yet soft and I still tasted a hint of vanilla. When we broke apart I covered my face with my hair and muttered,

“Pabo.” Yet, I felt my heart fighting it’s way to burst out of my chest, dancing with joy.

“Come on princess, we gotta get you home. It’s getting late.” He said and reached out for my hand. Even though we just ate ice cream, his hands were so warm and welcoming, They fit perfectly over my own.

Dongwoo’s POV~

Once we were a block away from her house, I gently let go of her hand and told her,

“I don’t think your mom would wanna see me this close to her princess. I’ll see you tomorrow, arasso?” She gave me a small smile and nod before she turned around and began walking home. I stared at her back for a few seconds before she turned back around, ran up to me, and gently pecked me on the cheek.

“Thanks for today. I had fun….for the first time.” She added the last part in a whisper before running back home.

Hye Mi’s POV~

I was hoping my step-mom wouldn’t be home, yet all the blood was drained from my face when I saw her standing on our front porch, arms crossed over her chest.

“Where have you been young lady? Your piano teacher called and said you didn’t show up today.” Oh fudge, I forgot about my lessons, I was too lost on my date with Dongwoo.

“What are you smiling for Hye Mi?” My step-mother asked me in a confused yet serious tone. Just the thought of today brought a smile to my lips and I could only reply,

“Just, I remembered something that’s all.” She took my wrist and dragged me back inside, yet nothing could ruin today for me.
