Setting: Sunset Powered Park at their first anniversary

Plot/ Summary: Kikwang has been ignoring Jaeyeu's calls and her voice when they started going out. He never called her once when they even started dating. Kikwang, a popular and well known man, has been making fun of her when she was at the age sixteen, but only got interested in her when he saw her with out glasses. The whole time she wears them, Kikwang gets embarrassed and always says stuff like he is not going out with her.
She one day found a photo of Kikwang and some queenka kissing. A drama starts at a dark and rainy day when Kikwang and her face together for once. On their first anniversary, she has been left with a broken heart. To make it worse, she get's hit by a car. Kikwang suddenly has been called to the hospital and soon realized what he did. Regretful, he promises he will never leave or hurt her.

Jaeyeu’s POV~

The number you have called is currently unavailable. Please try-

I closed my phone shut and held it to my chin. Why won’t he pick up with phone? I squinted my eyes at my calendar hanging on my wall.

“Our first anniversary is in two days and you don’t even talk to me.” I know it’s late, but I know he usually stays up at least until mid night. I look at the clock, 11:11 PM and couldn’t help but smile at my childish thought.

“I wish Kiwkang would call me at least once.” I mumbled and couldn’t help but stare at my phone for a minute of hope.

Nothing.

I sighed out loudly and plopped down on my bed, hugging my pillow with my knees to my chest. Kiwkang and I have been dating for a while now and yet he never calls me.

“Aigoo~” I whine when my eye starts hurting.

“I need to clean my contacts.” I muttered and headed to the bathroom. I washed my face first and then cleaned out my contacts. I would usually wear glasses, yet Kikwang doesn’t like them.

“Hey look, it’s four eyes!” I turn around and almost bump into our well known school bully, Lee Kikwang.

“Where’s your group of thugs?” I challenge noticing how alone he is. He slams my back against the lockers and his hand bangs against the cold metal next to my head in a threatening manner.

“I don’t think you have the right to know my business.” He said breathing down my neck. I tried to muster as much courage and managed to push him off, putting a little distance between us.

“Funny, I never saw you up close but you’re not as half bad. Just get rid of these!” He yells and snatches my glasses.

“G-give them back!” I yell in protest and fumble around with my blurry vision. I make out his figure and once I take them he has a look of shock.

“You should get contacts.” He says with a smirk.

“I don’t like them, glasses are more convenient.” He grabs them from my face and steps on them, breaking both the lenses and frame.

“Looks like you don’t have a choice. Aw, don’t pout. Even though you do look cute when you pout. Here, how about I give you payment for them.” He said and stole my first kiss.

“Aish! These were my only pair.” I whine when one of my contact lenses rip in half.

Kikwang’s POV~

I was sitting on the edge of my bed, lost in my own train of thoughts when I heard my phone ring. I couldn’t help but have this annoyed look slapped across my face. Jaeyeu. Out of all the people in my contact list it’s always Jaeyeu. I hit the ignore/ reject button and toss my phone onto the night stand.

“Why are you so mad oppa?” Our school’s queenka asks wrapping her arms around me.

“How could I be mad when you’re here?” I ask bringing her face closer to my own.

Jaeyeu’s POV~

I was sitting at my desk, surfing the web and browsing social network site’s when I heard my phone ring next to me. I instantly hope that it’s Kiwkang but it’s only my friend Yoseob.

“Yobseyo?” I ask. I hear a slight hesitation in his tone of voice before he says,

“Jaeyeu , I think Kiwkang’s cheating on you.” I gulp down some bitter saliva and let out an awkward laugh.

“This is a joke right? I mean, I know you usually don’t joke Yoseob.” He sighs into the line and tells me,

“Just, go on our queenka’s Myspace. She uploaded a new picture.”

“Um, I don’t have a Myspace account.” I say sheepishly, I never liked that website.

“I’ll give you mine.” I nod and in about five minutes, I’m on Yoseob’s account and I drop my phone onto the floor when I see our queenka’s newest default.

Kikwang’s POV~

I wake up groggily to a text message, who’s it from? You guessed it, Jaeyeu.

I force myself out of bed and head toward the bathroom. Just a glimpse outside of my window and I can already see that it’s dark and raining.

“Wow, what a way to foreshadow today.” I muttered to myself with a smile.

Jaeyeu’s POV~

I sat on the park bench near the fountain and held the umbrella over my head.

“Hey.” I turned around and smiled shyly at Kikwang.

“Hey.” I replied. He had a black umbrella over his head and my gaze instantly turned to his lips. I couldn’t believe that picture, I thought I’d get the actual answer from himself.

“Hey Kikwang? I was wo-” I began but he let out a disapproving hiss and took my glasses,

“I told you not to wear these ridiculous things. They’re so embarrassing.” He comments and snaps them in half. I was forced to squint to catch his figure, even though he was standing right in front of me.

“Sorry, my contacts ripped.” I said in a meek voice. I saw him scratch the back of his head before his words hit me,

“Let’s break up.” I gripped my umbrella handles tighter and gave him a weak smile,

“You’re joking right? Why is everyone joking with me lately? First Yoseob and now you…”

“I’m serious. I’m through with you. Have a nice life.” He said in such a monotone voice and left me sitting there. My whole body felt numb and I lost my grip on the umbrella. The cold rain was a calming thing as it’s cool drops hit me. I looked around but couldn’t make out much. I was simply a lifeless ghost walking around the empty park. I made my way toward the road and couldn’t read whether it was green light or red. I looked both way but heard no cars nearby so I took a chance. It was as if God heard me and wanted to end my misery. I heard a car honk and a blinding light before I was knocked out.

Kikwang’s POV~

I felt the queenka’s soft lips over mine and I was lost in her essence when my phone rang.

“You’re gonna get that?” She asked with an evil smirk on her lips.

“Just to tease you.” I commented and picked up, not even realizing the blocked caller ID.

“Yobseyo? This is Dr. Cho, is this Lee Kikwang?”

I gulp down and feel my adam’s apple bob,

“Yes. May I ask what this is for?” He says in a serious tone,

“It appears a Kyung Jaeyeu has been found hit by a car around noon today and we are currently holding her in Seoul Hospital. She just got out of the operation room and we found your number as her most dialed contact.” I didn’t need to hear anymore and I grabbed a nearby jacket and was about to race off before she grabbed my hand.

“Are you gonna leave me like this oppa? If you do, I won’t come back.”

“Go ahead leave, I need to see someone more important and worthwhile.” I hiss and head off.

I ignored the glares I received after I shoved past multiple people and patients.

“Where’s Kyung Jaeyeu?” I hissed at the counter lady. She gave me a small glare and pointed the room down the hall. I marched over there, trying to push back the nauseating and guilty feeling I was getting. As if on cue, a hamper rolled in contained a pale and fragile looking girl.

No, that can’t be. She was fine when I last saw her.

I felt my knees grow weak yet, I continued to push myself toward the girl. The girl who’s chart said she was Kyung Jaeyeu, yet I couldn’t believe it.

“She can still hear you, we just don’t know how long she has before…” The nurse drifted off, not bothering to finish her cruel sentence after seeing my eyes fill to the brim with tears. I tried to look up and smile a little, so they wouldn’t fall. Yet like everything else that’s gone wrong today, my tears streak my face and I lean over Jaeyeu’s bed, sobbing like a pathetic child.

“Jaeyeu, I’m so sorry!  I didn’t mean for this to happen! Please, just forgive me! All I ask is for your forgiveness; I don’t want to live the rest of my life filled with regret.” Stop thinking about yourself, that’s what got her here in the first place.

“I want you to go off, living your life clean and without regrets! I don’t care if I live with this gaping hole that will never be filled if you’re not here. Please, give me a sign, anything!” I know you must be giving me the look that I’m completely insane, but I waited for several seconds. I expected a simple movement from her; a finger twitch, her eyes opening, anything.

“I love you.” I whispered to her and kissed her cheek. And before the doctor placed the sheet over her head, she gasped out one final phrase that I knew was directed to me,

“Liar, you never truly love me.”
