Plot/ Summary: jungkyun and tae hee have been friends and neighbors since they were kids. they had promised that they would always be there for each other when in need and will never forget their friendship. but as time goes on, jungkyun slowly began to distance himself from tae hee which made her sad and in her opinion that he had broken their promise. even though that he did broke their promise, she kept her side of the bargain as to be there for him when he needed her and somehow fallen in love with him while patiently waited for jungkyun to return but he didn't. she had given up and began to be hang out with other guys and started to date yujin who is kind, sweet and funny. jungkyun on the other hand only realizes his mistake and his feelings when he saw the two together spending time together and having fun as he had in the past with her.

Extra: the ending is that yujin knew of tae hee and jungkyun's feelings for each other and decided to let her go as he knows that he could never beat jungkyun when it comes to knowing her habits n etc very well.

Tae Hee’s POV~

“Jungkyun! Wait for me!” I yelled out grabbing onto the soft soil underneath me. Once I was close to the top of the hill, I saw Jungkyun standing above me, holding out a hand.

“I’m sorry Tae Hee. I just wanted you to see this view.” I nodded and gladly accepted his hand.

“Wahhh!~ It’s so beautiful.” I exclaimed overlooking the city below us.  The street was usually busy with people yet, up here it all felt so serene.

“Ne Tae Hee?” Jungkyun asked giving me such a warm smile.

“Ne?”

“Promise me something, will you?”

“Anything! He gave me such a pure smile that made me trust every word of his,

“Promise me, that we’ll both always be there for one another when in need and we will never forget our friendship.” I held out my pinky and he shook it with my own.

“I promise.” We both said simultaneously before our foreheads gently tapped one another’s.

My alarm clock woke me up the next morning and I couldn’t help but gasp.

“It was just another dream. A childhood memory.” I muttered to myself, slowly getting a sense of reality.

My alarm clock startled me yet again when the snooze button seemed to have been activated.

“Alright Tae Hee, time to get up for school.” I muttered to myself and stood up, stretching.

“Tae Hee! Would you be a dear and fetch the morning paper!” My father called from downstairs -.- Really? You’re already downstairs and I just woke up, did you seriously just ask me to get YOUR morning paper? I don’t really have a voice in this so I put on a light jacket and head outside.

I opened my front door and saw him picking up his own paper. The way he bent down so gracefully and brushed off some dirt. He looked up toward the sky with distaste, noting the clouds gathering.

“M-morning Junghyuk.” I say and give him a smile and wave. He simply stares at me for a second and heads back inside.

Why have you gotten so distant Jungkyun? Every morning you used to greet me with a smile. As time flew by, you only nodded toward me. Yet now, I don’t even get an acknowledgment. Heck, this is one of those days where he even looks at me.

“Did you really break your promise?” I muttered to the sky, and as if on cue, the rain slowly began pouring onto my face.

Jungkyun’s POV~

“Hey, the place’s is about to close up soon. You might wanna finish up.” The bartender commented and I gave him a lazy nod. I’ve been drinking here since noon, not caring how I probably lost all dignity and am only covered in shame.

“What are you doing to yourself Junghyuk?” I muttered yet ended up slurring more than half of the sentence. I paid for my drinks and decided to head home, only to find the ground shaking beneath me and everything spinning.

“Tch. Today just isn’t my day.” I cursed under my breath before I heard an all too familiar voice calling,

“Jungkyun? Is that you?” I looked up and if I squinted enough, I saw Tae Hee’s concerned look staring me down under the street lamp.

“Yo.” I said before I quickly ran off to a dark corner puking.

Tae Hee’s POV~

I stood behind him and gently patted his back once he had calmed down and regained himself.

“You ok?” I stuttered out and he gave me a weak nod. I gently wrapped one of his arms around my shoulder, and held his waist.

“Sorry I can’t carry you the rest of the way home. Let’s sit for a while.” I said and led him to a nearby park bench. I gently placed him down and the minute his bottom hit the wood, he slumped forward and covered his face with his hands.

“You must think I’m pathetic right?” I sat down next to him and gently moved his hands away from his face,

“I would never think so lowly of you.” I couldn’t help but stare at him again. His defined jawline, his eyes that now seem so sad and lost, and his full lips. He gave me a weak smile, something I haven’t seen in a long time. I felt my heart skip a beat.

Look at you Tae Hee, you’re the one who’s always there for him huh? You’re the only one keeping your side of the promise.

Why do I continue to keep my side you might ask? It’s a simple reason.

I fell in love with him.

Jungkyun’s POV~

I was out front by my front porch, it’s been a week since the incident and I haven’t visited that club/ bar ever since. My mind’s been to occupied with Tae Hee. Why is she always on my mind? As if God knew I was thinking of her, there she was, coming around the corner.

“Tae Hee.” I whispered to myself and couldn’t help but stare at her. I was expecting her usual smiles yet, she quickly turned around and was pulling on someone’s arm. Who is it? Must be one of her friends. Yet, she pulled up a boy that looked around her age. They were both smiling so brightly, and she had such a radiant glow surrounding her. I didn’t see her smile that bright since we hung out.

That was such a long time ago.

They must’ve been more than friends. I saw him whisper something into her ear which caused her to blush. She saw me and gave me this pleading look that only lasted a mere second before she turned back to her guy friend and nodded.

In response, he pecked her on the cheek and I felt my hands tighten into fists as I gritted my teeth in frustration.

Why am I feeling like this?

Tae Hee’s POV~

I lay in bed that day replaying what happened a few hours ago.

“Ne, I really like you Tae Hee. Do you like me?” Yujin whispered into my ear. I felt myself turn a bright crimson color and I felt a pair of familiar eyes watching us. I looked over and saw Jungkyun. I quickly turned away and reminded myself,

You gave up on him, remember? I looked up into Yujin’s eyes that were so kind. He always cared for me and made me laugh.

I felt myself nod in response and he gently leaned down and kissed me on the cheek.

I simply hugged my pillow to my chest and couldn’t help but wonder, did I make the right decision?

Jungkyun’s POV~

I heard the café’s door chime and I looked over out of curiousity and met the eyes of Tae Hee and her boyfriend.

“A-anneyong.” She greeted me and her date gave me a nod.

“Sup.” I replied and went back to reading my book.

“Do you mind if we join you? The place is kind of crowded.” She said a little meekly. I looked around and it’s true. My table was the only two seats available.

“Go for it.” I said quickly looking at her boyfriend and going back to my reading.

“Thanks.” He said and pulled out the chair for Tae Hee. I saw how they both smiled at each other and anger took over me, I crumpled my coffee cup. I felt some of the remaining coffee drip onto the table and before they both could notice what I did, I wipe it away.

Tae Hee’s POV~

Aigoo, this is all so awkward. I feel so self-conscience because I’m on a date with Yujin, yet my gaze drifts off to Jungkyun.

“Do you know anything good on the menu? It’s my first time here.” I whisper to Yujin, not wanting to disturb Junghyuk’s reading.

“Want me to order for you? I know some great dishes.” Yujin says and gives me a wink. I felt a blush creep onto my face and I replied,

“That’d be great. Thanks.” After several minutes of talking, I saw Jungkyun getting up.

“Are you leaving?” I asked almost too quickly. He gave me a weird look and replied,

“Bathroom. I’ll be back, I guess.” I felt myself blush even more and once he was out of ear shot, Yujin asked me,

“So you guys are pretty close, huh?” I almost choked on my cappuccino and quickly wiped at my mouth.

“Why do you ask?” He gave me a knowing smile and shrugged,

“You both stare at each other and I feel like something’s going on between you guys. BUT, I won’t judge. Oh look out food’s here.” As soon as the plate hit the table, I quickly jammed a load of my appetizer to avoid any more questioning from Yujin.

“He’s coming back.” Yujin whispered in a teasing manner, yet I wasn’t paying attention to that. My throat felt itchy and it was slowly closing up on me.

“Hey, are you ok? Here,drink some water.” Yujin offers yet I wave a hand in front of him. My hearts racing and I can feel myself burning up.

“Tae Hee? What’s going on?” I turn and see Jungkyun giving me a worried look on his face. My throat’s walls were clenching and I saw Jungkyun taste my food before I passed out.

Jungkyun’s POV~

Clams. Out of all the things on that menu, she had to digest clams. She knows how allergic she is.

“It was my fault.” I looked up and saw Yujin giving me a guilty expression.

“I didn’t know she was allergic. I should’ve asked before I ordered for her.” I sighed out loud so he could hear me. But then I could only shake my head and reply,

“It’s ok, don’t blame yourself too much. She should’ve known herself.” The doctor came out and Yujin and I both sprung up to our feet.

“How is she?” I asked.

“Will she be ok?” Yujin followed by. The doctor looked between the both of us and replied,

“You’re lucky it was spotted early. If you had gotten here any later, she wouldn’t have made it out so well. She’s fine now but she needs some rest. One visitor at a time however.” He stated firmly and left us alone. I felt Yujin’s hands rest on my shoulder and he gave me a weak smile before saying,

“You win. I leave her into your hands. Let’s face it, I’ll never beat you dude.” I gave him a small smile and nod before he left. I walked into her room and saw her lying on the bed.

She looked so fragile and delicate, with the wires attached to her arms.

“Tae Hee, I’m so sorry.” I whispered to myself after I sat beside her, and wrapped my own hands around one of hers. I silently sobbed into the white bed sheets before I felt someone brushing my hair.

“Please don’t cry.”

Tae Hee’s POV~

He looked up and quickly wiped away at his tears.

“Tae Hee, I’m so so sorry that I haven’t always been there for you. If it wasn’t for that, I don’t think this would’ve even happened. Please forgive me.” He said in such a weak and pleading tone, that I felt his pain along with my own. I brushed away some hair from his forehead and gave him as strong a smile as I could muster.

“Pabo, I don’t think I can ever be mad at you.” He gave me such a warm and genuine smile, something I haven’t seen in the longest of time.

“I miss that smile.” I commented. He caressed my cheek and leaned in, gently locking lips with my own. The kiss was so soft and gentle, it was as if a feather only grazed by, yet I felt every single emotion behind it.

“I love you.” He whispered and I could only smile and reply,

“I love you too.”
