“Oh so you’re a pilot now? You’d grown up. I’m so proud of how your mum took care of you both all by herself.” Mum said to Dongwoon and Dongha, as she poked on her salad.

So here I am. Sitting at a round table in our dining room with Dongwoon and Dongha.

I could NOT believe that Dongwoon is my cousin.

Like, cousin?

Now that just doesn’t sound right.

Okay. Here’s a little flashback:

Me: What do you mean mum?

Mum: Oh honey, don’t you remember Aunt Kim? Dad’s younger sister?

Well I remember I almost faint when she said that.

And I go, “NOO! It can’t be!” In shouting mode.

“Mika, you okay?” Dongha sat beside me asked, with a concern look.

“Oh—ne’ gwaenchana.” I faked a smile.

I felt my stomach churned.

We continued our dinner until it’s time for them to leave.

“Why don’t you guys stay here? We have plenty of empty room though. And it’s late already.” Mum offered.

“It’s okay, aunt.” Dongwoon bowed, “We’ll be safe.”

After they left, I stomped into my bedroom. Feeling all depressed and---hopeless?

How can he turn out to be my blood and flesh freakin’ cousin!? Andwae! This is just a nightmare. I’ll wake up tomorrow and I’ll be back at China’s hotel room.

I couldn’t sleep.

But then it hit me, if she’s Aunt Kim, why doesn’t she look like her?

I mean, she used to make my favourite kimchi when she visited us. I remember her face clearly. But, that women lying and begging me to take care of Dongwoon, she is so not Aunt Kim that I remember.

I flipped open some album and found a picture of Aunt Kim. Just like what I remember.

See. That’s how Aunt Kim supposed to look like, tiny eyes, thin lips and pointed nose. Not that doubled eye lid eyes, thick lips and—okay maybe they have the same nose. But...
