seeing that byulyi’s attention was on her notepad, yongsun stood by the door and took a deep breath, smoothing the creases on her nightgown, she tried to look nonchalant. 

“baby,” yongsun called out. she didn’t miss how byulyi was openly checking her out when she turned around. 

“yeah?” byulyi extended her arms, inviting yongsun to sit on her laps.

yongsun’s arms found its way around byulyi’s neck and the latter’s hands found their way around her fiancé’s waist. 

“i need help finding a gift for my, uh, cousin.” 

“yeah? which cousin?” 

“oh you don’t know her, i’ve never mentioned her to you and the younger ones before. but she’s uh same age as you, around my height and has a small face. she’s quite slender as well. do you think she’ll like jewelry, car or something bigger like a football team?”

“hm, that depends. are you close with her?”

“very.” 

“i don’t think she’d like any of that.”

yongsun’s eyes widened, not expecting byulyi’s answer.

“oh, uh, not even this Tiffany&Co ring? or this Louis Vuitton ring that Taeyeon-nim wore in the new campaign? or—or the Jeep that you—everyone—is talking about?”

their eyes met for a few moments before byulyi burst out laughing. of course she could tell when yongsun is lying. byulyi knows yongsun’s entire family and even met them, there was no way the older woman has a secret cousin that she doesn’t know about. 

“unnie, you’re pathetic and you at lying.” byulyi tightened her arms around yongsun’s waist.

still wanting to try until the last moment, yongsun feigned ignorance to byulyi’s comment. “what are you talking about?”
