Awkwardness engulfed the both of them.

The other fiddling and urged to say something.

The other just want to hug the person opposite to her tight.

Yeri came with a mug of Americano, a strawberry frappe and banana smoothie.

“The waitress said she will bring the cakes later.” and sat beside Chaeyoung.

Then, she too was engulfed with their awkward atmosphere.

She coughed, breaking the tension between the two.

“Are you okay Mina?”

“huh? ah… yeah…..”

“Are you tired? I mean, they literally bombarded you with questions…”

“Yes. I’m fine. Thank you. Yeri”

“......”

She noticed the two in front of her both whispering to each other.

She noticed how close the two have become.

When they noticed the look on Mina’s face, they looked at each other once more.

“All right…. I uhm…… just gonna go and let you two talk” Emphasis on the last word while Yeri looked at Chaeyoung sternly.

“Don’t hold back anything. Both of you.”

And with that, Yeri left them.

A few minutes of silence have passed before a word have left both of their mouth.

“Chae-”
“Mina-”

They both stated at the same time. and followed by

“You go first.”
“You say it first.”

Eventually, they broke into a small laughter.

“Seriously though, you go first.” Chaeyoung smiled.

Mina took a deep breath. Still a little shaky from what happened.

“Tell me this ‘promise’ you two are talking about?”

5 hours earlier.

“Don't go…” she weakly stated.

“I'm not leaving. Not anymore.” Chaeyoung hugged tight.

A police officer approached the both of them.

“Sorry to interrupt, may I ask for Ms. Son for some questioning? Regarding the-”

“all right all right!” Chaeyoung panickly interrupted.
“I will come with you, just a second.”

She looked at the figure hugging her tight, not wanting to let go.

“Mina-”

“No.”

“Just a few-”

“No.”

“The police-”

“No. I don’t want to.”

She sighed.

Another police officer approached them, now asking for Mina, regarding the incident happened tonight.

She was reluctant to let her go, but eventually did, since the both of them have to answer some questions.

When she was done, the first thing she did was look for Chaeyoung.

When she passed the ambulance, she saw her silhouette between the two police cars, so she walked there quickly, but hid behind the car when she heard her yell.

“You ing ! YOU! BROKE! YOUR PROMISE!”

“Chaeyoung, calm down” Yeri tried to stand between the two.

“How can I? HE ING TRIED TO HER! THIS IS NOT ON OUR TRUCE! YOU ING PROMISED !”

“Oh yeah? Did I say ‘I promise’? I didn’t, did I? What I remember correctly is that you let yourself be beaten for 3 weeks. Threatened me with papers, that I have to agree to something you proposed.”

“YOU AGREED!”

“I did. But you didn’t do your side.” He smirked.

“I left her!”

“You didn’t break up with her.”

When Chaeyoung gulped, his smile got wider.

“You think I will stop following her?” He scoffed. He stood up, his hands cuffed behind him and slowly approached Chaeyoung.

“I thought you did your assignment on me.”

Now, both of them are face to face.

“Thank Yeri for being stupid that you have to go back today. I would have marked mine.”

She can see Chaeyoung clenched her jaw and fist.

“Imagine, me, being inside her. Ugh-” And with this, Chaeyoung punched Bambam in the face.

“You’re rotting in Jail. Kunpimook.”

And this is the first time she saw Bambam rage.

He pushed the smirking Chaeyoung and pressed her into the car.

Due to the commotion, the police came.

They peeled him off her and pinned him to the ground.

“Don’t you ing call me by that name!”

“Why? Isn’t that your real name?” She scoffed when she saw Bambam struggle from the police.

“I just want to ask one question though.” she crouched down and took his chin.

“Do you want to rot in jail? or the mental facility? Kunpimook.”

Bambam started to struggle more.

“You promised! You ing promised!”

“Oh yeah? Did I say ‘I promise’? I didn’t, did I?” She imitated.

When she saw his eyes filled with rage, she chuckled.

“Yeri….” she held her hand out.

Yeri quickly searched in her backpack and gave a thick folder, thicker than what she gave Mina.

She stood up, Bambam watching her movement.

She was smirking when she gave the folder to one of the officer.

“NOO!” The Police started to drag him away.

“You’re ing paying for this! I WILL NOT STAND DOWN! I WILL KILL YOU!” He shouted while he was getting stuffed into the backseat.

Mina just stood there. Not moving a single inch.

The police left, leaving the 3 of them.

Chaeyoung still has her jaw and fist clenched when Yeri nod her head towards Mina.

Chaeyoung whipped her head and saw Mina standing still.

“Uhm…….. Do you……………. Do you want to get some coffee?”

Back to the present time

She can sense that Chaeyoung was hesitating to tell her the truth or not.

“Chaeyoung. Why are you with Yeri?”

“She- uhm..”

“Why did Bambam know the both of you? How much do you know about him?”

“He-”

“What is the deal that made you leave me?”

“Mina!”

She held her hand, causing her to stop rambling questions.

“Chae…. I have so many questions! I- I-”

“And we have all day.”

Chaeyoung smiled.

“I will tell you all of it then.”

She was continuously beaten up by some guys Bambam hired.

It was what? the 3rd week? She lost count on how many days she tried to pursue Bambam into leaving Mina alone.

Ever since she received that call, she worked so hard. Knowing what he can do to her.

For Mina's sake.

And at last. The information she has been gathering for the last few weeks is done.

She barged into his office and landed the thick folder on his table.

“what is this?”

“Read it.”

After a few minutes, he abruptly stood up.

“Where did you get these?”

“I don’t know. Why don’t you ask your parents. Bhuwakul.”

He suddenly grabbed her collar.

“What the do you want!”

“Calm down you psychopath. I only want one thing. Leave Mina alone.”

He scoffed.

“No.”

“Guess I will just send this to the police then.”

“Not until you also leave.”

Chaeyoung looked into his eyes and saw his seriousness.

“You have to ing promise me.”

“So do you.”

Chaeyoung scoffed and left him with the folder.

“Why did you do that?”

“He’s a ing psychopath! Mina! You don’t know what he’s done!”

“I do!”

“You don’t! I didn’t send all of his files.”

“You didn’t sent what file?”

“The one I told Yeri to give you.”

Mina gasp.

“You’re the one who gave me that?.... then the pla-”

“Was mine.”

Saying that Mina was hurt was underestimated.

“Why didn’t you tell me directly!”

“I have to. It worked didn’t it!”

“Do you not trust me!”

“I do! it’s just that……..This is for you! damn it! Mina. He won’t leave you until I do!”

“You still could have told me!”

“And what! Mina! Everything would go wrong if you know it! You would have different mind set if you knew!”

“But still! Chaeyoung! How did you know that the outcome will be different!”

A single tear have rolled out her eyes.

“At first. You ing tried to leave me without! a word! just because............” she scoffed “Then this! Is my love for you really that doubtful!”

“No Mi-”

“Chaeyoung! THINK! WHAT WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU WE’RE IN MY SHOES!”

“I-”

“Is that how you thought of me? Am I that kind of person in your mind? Am I that Faithless to you?”

“No! MINA!”

“ you! Chaeyoung. If this is how you think of me as your partner, then this relationship is done! ”

She stood up and turned to leave. But Chaeyoung held her wrist.

"You haven't heard everything!"

"I heard enough. I don't want to see your face, ever again."

And with that. Mina left Chaeyoung in the cafe.

What happened between the call at Mina's birthday and Chaeyoung's Birthday is still a mystery.
