Chaeyoung’s POV

 

I woke up with fingers intertwined with mine. I slowly opened my eyes as the owner of the said fingers lay on my arm. I blinked slowly, trying to adjust to the brigthness of my surrounding.

 

“I miss you…….” She said softly.

 

It took me a few seconds before I could speak.

 

 

“I missed you too.” I replied. Gosh, my throat…

 

She sat up fast.

She looked at me, shocked. So I smiled at her.

 

“Chae!” she cried.

I opened her arms to Mina.

She jumped onto me and cried.

 

“You ing scared me…”

 

“…”

 

“…”

 

“Don’t you have to call the nurse? Now that I’m awake?”  I asked after a minute of her not moving.

 

 

My throat…… so dry…… is there water here…..

 

 

And as if Mina have read my mind, she took the water bottle on the table and gave it to me.

 

“You really need that.”

 

I then took the bottle and drank it. While Mina returned into her embrace

 

“Better?” Mina asked

I nodded.

“You really have to call the nurse.”

“I don’t want to.”

 

 

I chuckled.

 

 

This girl….

 

 

We remained in the same position for a few more minutes.

Feeling comfortable in each others arms and all.

How many days have I been sleeping?

 

“Mina! I brought you………… Ameri…..cano…..” Dahyun dropped the coffee when she saw me.

Good thing Tzuyu was there, she caught the coffee.

“Yah! What’s the matter with…..you…..” Tzuyu was also stunned when she followed Dahyun’s gaze.

“What’s the matter?” 

 

Was that Mom?

 

“Chae!” Tzuyu and Dahyun ran towards me.

 

 

Wait. Are they serious! NO! ! These two!

 

 

“No… No… No! NONONONO OOF” 

 

! So heavy!

 

 

“What’s the matter with you all! Can’t you see that I’m on a hospital bed!” I grunted. 

 

Aish. Really, these two.

 

I giggled

“I missed you too guys.” I hugged the 3 of them. Really, I don't know what happened, It felt like I just took a nap........

 Then I heard sniffles.

 

“ you! And your stupid !” Tzuyu said.

“Language.” A deep voice interrupted them from their group hug.

 

 

I Looked at the source.

 

He was paler.

 

He was thinner.

 

And definitely, looks weaker.

 

 

“Dad…..”

 

 

How long did I really sleep for him to get to this condition?

 

 

The 3 then slowly detached themselves from me as Dad walked towards me.

He then hugged me tight.

 

“Good thing you’re awake..”

“Dad…. Are you….. are you okay??” I asked as he pulled from the hug.

“Better than ever.”

“But you look-“

“Baby.” My mom that was standing from the other side of the bed then hugged me.

“You scared us….” She then pulled.

“Don’t do that! Ever again!” she said sternly.

I smiled. 

 

Then the doctors and nurses came in.

They checked my condition, doing this and that.

They concluded for me to stay for 3 more days, before they discharge me.

I spent the last two days going back and forth to my room and some sort of…. I dunno… but yeah, it’s to examine my health.

Anyways, the gang visited me one time and filled me with happenings at the uni while I recover.

 

 

I also learned that Mina hasn’t gone home since…… you know……. 

So I insisted that she go home and just come back when I get discharged in which she, finally! Accepted.

And I thank God that she left. Somi and Uncle came to visit me.

 I still don’t know how to explain that Somi, is apparently, my Cousin.

And I am sure as hell that she will lash out before I could explain a thing to her.

 

 

Anyway, today, is my last day here.

I was about to wear my shirt when a pair of arms slipped onto my waist, hugging me from behind.

“I’m sorry……” she said.

I tilted my head in confusion, then I realized that I still have bandage rolled over my body. Covering my wound.

She must have felt guilty when she saw it.

 

“Hey… hey…..” I turned around.

“You’re not at fault here.” I cupped her cheeks. “Okay? So I don’t ever want to hear your apology over this, ever, again. Okay? Mina?”

 

She nodded.

Then the door suddenly opened.

 

“Chae! What’s takin- OH GOSH! GET A ROOM YOU TWO! NOT THIS KIND OF ROOM!” Dahyun 

“Wha- what’s happeni- oh wow!” Tzuyu appeared whistling when she heard Dahyun screaming. 

 

Mina slowly detached herself from me and cover her face in embarassment.

I tilted my head in confusion when Dahyun silently took her phone out.

 

 

*kachak*

 

“Wha-“

“I will send it to you later Mina unnie. And Chae… get you ing shirt on. We’re leaving.”

“Wha- ho-“

“Just get your freaking shirt cub.” Tzuyu then left.

 

Dahyun went inside to pick up the bag.

“I will wait outside.” 

Mina and I looked at each other.

 

“I will meet you outside….” She smiled and went out.

 

…..

 

Did Dahyun just took a picture of me?

 

I shookt my head in disbelief and continued wearing my shirt.

After that, I checked the room, if ever I forgot something, then went out.

 

There, I saw them standing, waiting for me.

I ran towards them and took the bagpack from Mom. 

“Let’s go!” I enthusiastically said and started walking.

 

 

*Cough* *Cough*

 

 

I sigh. “I told you Dad to take car of yourself.” I said without looking back.

 

 

The coughing intensifies.

 

I stopped when I heard Mom shout.

 

“YEOBO!?” 

 

 

I turned around and saw my dad…….. lying on the floor, blood coming from his mouth.

 

 

I Felt like my heart stopped beating at that moment.

Mina has covered.

While Dahyun and Tzuyu called for the doctors and Nurses.

Then I snapped to reality and quickly ran to his side.

 

 

“DAD! DAD!” I softly slapped his cheek.

“Can you hear me!” 

 

Then a doctor came, along with some nurses.

 

“Excuse me miss, but I will have to check the patient.” As the doctor gently pushed me aside.

“What is wrong with him!” I shouted.

 

The doctor then signaled the nurses. 

They carried dad and placed him to a bed and carried him.

 

“Please wait for further explanation. But it seems like your Dad had a Heart attack right now. After some.check ups we will place him in a room. So please wait patiently”

 

Then they went away.

I never even step a foot outside and then this happened.

My mom gently hugged me. And I hugged back.

I was kinda taller than her so I rested my chin on her head.

 

“Everything’s going to be okay sweety.” My mom started.

“Tzuyu, Dahyun, please contact your Dads. Just tell them where we are and tell them that it’s time.”

 

Mom then pulled from the hug. I can saw her wiping her tears.

 

“Time for what?” I asked.

She just smiled.

 

 

Weird.

 

 

The feeling is here again.

 

 

That uncomfortable feeling.

I cursed in my mind as I wait for the doctor to arrive to know my Dad’s condition.

I haven’t even set a foot outside this hospital…

I was holding dad’s hand. 

I looked at my Mom. She was weirdly calm with all of this.

 

But it doesn’t mean that she’s not hurt, I can clearly see the tears threatening to fall from her eyes.

 

“Mom. Are you okay?” I asked.

 

She was on the other side of the bed so I stood up and backhugged her.

She leaned into the hug and hummed.

 

The only sounds that can be heard is the sounds of the machines that can be heard.

Then mom, suddenly out of nowhere, called my name.

 

“Chaeyoung, baby.”

“...Yes mom?”

“I know that you are a Papa’s girl. That’s why I want you to be strong okay? For me. For Mina.”

 

I pulled from the hug and looked at her, confused.

 

“Wha-“

 

Then, the doctor came.

Both of us stood and bowed.

The doctor nod to acknowledge us.

 

“I’m sorry, but Son really has to take the surgery, if not, he will not last any longer than a day.”

 

Mom then just silently cry.

While me? Yep. Still confused.

 

“Wha- ho- why- what?”

Then the doctor faced me and smiled, “You must be Chaeyoung, Son’s Pride and joy. I believe we haven’t met.” He held his hand out. “I’m Myo-“

“Dad?” 

 

I looked at the direction of the source and saw Mina at the door holding a bag of takeouts.

“Ahhh Mina.” He held out his arms, welcoming Mina into his embrace.

“What are you doing here?” She asked while hugging his….. dad…

“I am the assigned doctor of Son.” 
She pulled from the hug. She blinked.

"That explains the closeness……….” she mumbled.

 

I fake Coughed.

 

“Ah. Chaengie. I forgot. This is my dad.”

 

He extended his arms again and I shookt it.

 

“Good morn- ah good afternoon sir. May I know the results of my Father’s check up?” I asked.

 

He then looked at mom.

“It’s time.” Mom said after she nodded.

 

“Chayoung ssi. I have a lot to say. So please Join me this lunch so that I can explain your Father’s story well. My Mina here, can stay with your Mom.”

 

I just nodded. 

Everything is too much to process. Everything that haplened so far is too quick for me to process.

“…. Then your dad declined to sign. Everything is already prepared actually. We already have a good heart. We just need his sign.”

I blinked once.

Then twice.

“Did he also tell you why he didn’t want to sign?” I asked weakly

He shookt his head. “Whenever I ask him to, he just smile or changed the topic.”

“I….. I….” I sighed.

 

 

Advance heart failure....

 

 

This is more serious than I thought.

 

 

I feel like screaming ang crying. But I don't know why I am so calm right now.

 

 

I stared into nothingness....

“Thank you, Mr. Myoui.”

“It’s fine, and drop the honorifics. Your dad and I are quite close. Just call me Uncle.” He smiled.

“Thank you. Uncle.”

“And please take care of my dau-“

“DAD!?”

Both of us turned our heads to the panting Penguin.

“He’s awake.”

We hurried to the room when we heard the news.

 

 

“DAD!” I shouted as soon as I reached the door.

 

 

And there he was, smiling ear to ear, like he doesn’t have an illness at all.

“Honey, would you please leave us for a moment. We have a lot to discuss.” He asked mom.

She nodded. She stood up and gave my dad a chaste kiss.

She also hugged me and whispered encouraging words before going out and closing the door.

 

 

“Dad…”

“No. “

“I haven’t even asked my question yet.”

“You’re going to ask me to sign didn’t you?”

 

I gulped.

 

“Why?”

He shrugged. “I am pretty contented with everything. I feel like it’s really time for me to go.”

 

I approached him and sat beside him.

I felt my heart shattered to pieces.

He was talking like death is just like another normal day for him.

 

“What about me? Or mom? Dad. We need you.” I was already getting teary.

 

He just smiled. He then patted my head.

 

“You grew up pretty well.”

Just that one sentence, made my tears burst wildly.

He hugged me then said nothing. He just hugged me.

 

After calming down a bit.

“Who will walk me to the aisle then?” I asked.

He chuckled. “I am pretty sure you will be the one waiting, not walking.”

 

I pulled away.

 

“She sure is beautiful, isn’t she?”

I nodded. Knowong that she is talking about Mina.

 

“I know you, chaeyoung. I am pretty sure you are holding your feelings back because of the company right? And I already know your reason, so I am not gonna say it. But Chaeyoung, I don’t want you to inherit the company like that. The 3 of us, Kim, Chou, and I decided to expand the company to get you guys a secured future. Your profession would not go to waste. We don’t want your happiness to get ruined just to give you guys a wealthy life. So please…”

“Sign the operation first.” I boldly asked.

“Wha-“

“Get a heart transplant.”

 

He opened his mouth and closed again, then opened again, then eventually, he just sighed.

“Fine. But on one condition. I already settled this with the other two. We decided to not let you guys handle the company for 5 more years. My brother, your uncle Jeon, will take over me. So don’t do anything company related for 5 years. You cannot mingle anything at the company until the CEOs says so. Now. Go back to your usual routine. Attend your school regularly. I already talked to the Dean, so-“

“Fine. Just take the operation, please.”

He just smiled again. He took the pen and the paper at the side table, wrote something. Then shouted.
"MYOUI! YOU WIN! NOW GET YOUR DAMN PAPER HERE!” 

 

“Language, dear.”

 

 I looked at the door and saw Mina, Uncle Myoui, and Mom. 

Uncle Myoui was grinning victorously “the operation will be tomorrow Son, everything is already prepared.” He approached and took the Medical documents in dad’s hand.

“See you tomorrow, you already know the drill so…. Yeah… bye!” He then left.

 

Mom approached us.

 

“Are you really taking the operation?” 

 

He nodded.

Then mom engulfed him into a hug.

Then sobs could be heard.

I know that mom wanted Dad to stay here longer too.

 

 

“SON!”

The door slammed open and there, standing, 2 panting adults.

“Oh god…..”

 

Mom detached herself from dad.

Then the 2 hurriedly went towards dad and hugged him.

 

 

 

Dejavu …

 

I Don’t know how and when did these 3 became like this. 

 

Seriously, they we’re almost like the 3 of us. Me, Dubu, and Tzu.

 

 

 

 Mina and I decided to go out. Just to have the adults some privacy.

She was fidgeting beside me.

I was just waiting for her to tell me on what is on her mind.

She opened then closed it again.

 

 

All right. That’s it.

 

 

“What is it?” I asked. 

“Umm… I- uh-“ she stammered.

 

She then breath deeply and looked at me more serious than ever.

I gulped due to the intensity of her gaze.

She then looked down and mumbled something.

 

“What?” I asked.

“Nothing. I just want to ask if you’re going to attend the university normally again.”

 

I Blinked.

She got nervous for wanting to ask me that?

 

“I actually already finished the courses this semester. I already took the exams in advance, just to be precautious and they said that it’s way too high and told me I can take the rest of the semester off.”

She looked at me, surprised. “When di-“

“Before the accident” I cut her off.

She just nodded.

Then everything went silent again.

 

 

I glanced at my watch. 

 

 

6:32 pm

 

“Do you want to go eat dinner with me?”

She looked at me with widened eyes. She opened

“Just bring her home before midnight, Chaeyoung.” 

 

I was startled by the voice that suddenly arised behind me.

I looked back and smiled shyly.

 

I bowed. “Ne, Mr- Uncle Myoui.”

“I will inform you parents about this. You can go now.” He made a shoo gesture and went inside Dad’s room. He poked his head out again.
“Don’t do things married couples do okay?” and winked, then went back inside.

 

Unbelievable..

 

I looked back at Mina and she was as red as tomato.

 

I chuckled.

 

‘Adorable..’

 

 

I held out my hand. “Let’s go.”

She looked at me. Then at my hands. Then back at me again.

I sighed and rolled my eyes.

I took her hands and led her out.

 

 

This is the first time I felt like teasing her.

 

 

'OH boy, this is gonna be a fun night.'..... i thought as I forget all the problems i had for a moment.

  

 

3rd POV

Chaeyoung doesn’t have any mod of Transportation since she was supposed to go home today……. If not for her father’s accident.

 

So Chaeyoung hauled a cab.

“Where to? Miss?” The driver asked as soon as both girls settled theirselves.

“Where do you want to go? Mina?” Chaeyoung asked.

Mina grinned. “Surprise me.”

Chaeyoung was amused. A challenge indeed.

 

She looked at her watch.

 

 

6:56 pm

 

 

Too late for THAT place but too early for THAT one ……..  she thought.

 

 

She looked at Mina who was also looking at her. Then, a certain place have crossed her mind.

“That place indeed.” Chaeyoung mumbled.

 

 

She quickly took her phone out and typed something.

 

 

Mina tried to peek but Chaeyoung didn’t let her as she quickly pulled the phone and held it tightly to her chest.

So she pouted.

Chaeyoung was actually already squealing inside due to her cuteness.

 

“It’s a secret.” She smiled, showing her dimples.

 

She moved a little bit further from Mina and continued typing.

Then she showed it to the Driver, and he nodded.

He started the engine and started driving to what address Chaeyoung have shown him.

Chaeyoung looked at Mina and found that she was still pounting. She chuckled.

She scooted closer and took her hands. She kisses it lovingly. “It’s a surprise, Just wait a little more Minari…”

 

 

Mina turned her head to the side and fought her smile hard. Especially when her love called her nickname lovingly. 

Both then, silently waited till they reach to their destination.

 

 

As Chaeyoung fished her phone out again, and started typing something, Mina was starting to get conscious of their interwined hand.

 

 

‘Omo omo omo, she is still holding my hand, freak freak freak’ Mina wildlessly thought.

 

After a few minutes, she unconciously squeezed Chaeyoung’s hand, causing the latter to whip her head to her direction.

“Mina? What’s wrong?” she asked.

Mina snapped from her thinking and as she quickly looked at Chaeyoung, she was surprised as they we’re only and inch apart.

 

 

‘Too close too close too close.’ 

 

 

Mina can’t handle the embarassment as she quickly turned her head the other way.

 

 

"Mina?"

"......"

“Minariiiiiii~”
“…….”
“Minarrrriiiiiiiiiiiiii~”
“………”
“I won’t stop till you look at me.”

 

“I’m sorry to interrupt your sweet time missus, but we are here.” The driver then bowed.

 

 

Mina observed their surroundings. “This is…”

Chaeyoung chuckled as she pay the driver. “Yeah it is.” She opened the car door. “Let’s go.”

She pulled Mina, who is still in awe, out.

“Wow….. I can’t believe that nothing changed here at all……” Mina gushed out.

 

“Of course nothing would change.” Chaeyoung laughed. “It’s only been, what? 2? 3? Years since we’ve been here.” She then dragged Mina. She turned around, walking backwards while holding her hand “And I know you love THAT place.” Chaeyoung smiled, showing her dimples.

 

THAT place……. Mina thought.

 

After awhile she gasped. She trotted  beside Chaeyoung. “THAT!” 

Chaeyoung just smiled and nodded.

 

“Daebak! Never thought you would still remember.”

“Surprised?” Chaeyoung cheekily smiled.

Mina nodded. “A very pleasant surprise. Thank you Chaeyoungie.”

“Hep! The night is still young. We’re not done until the day is over. And it’s currently…….. god it’s almost 8!” she then started jogging. “Hurry up! Minari! Race you to the diner!”

 

 

Mina could only laugh as she follow the younger’s tactics.

 

 

 

They reached the diner panting.

“HALMEONIIII!!!!! ANNYEOOOONG!” Chaeyoung excitingly waved at the old woman behind the counter.

“Aaaah! Chaeyoungah, Minayah! It’s been a while.” The old woman smiled.

 

 

Mina looked around.

The vintage vibe is so strong in this place. The diner literally looked like it came from the 90’s. The Music box that still works till today. The neon lights. The booths. The emlody being olayed at the moment. So calming and relaxing. Wow. Just wow.

“Mina!” Chaeyoung called her from the booth beside the window.

 

Our usual seat. She thought.

 

 

She approached and sat on the opposite side.

“Sup Chae!" The waitress slapped Chaeyoung, causing her to flinch since her shoulder is still not healed"

"Sorry!" she apologized when she noticed Chaeyoung's pained face.

"Mina! The usual?”

 

The two turned their heads to the waitress and was stunned.

“What? Never saw a woman with long hair?” the waitress asked.

“No! It’s not that!” Mina buffled.

 

Chaeyoung laughed.
God! I never thought you will grow your hair!”

The waitress smacked Chaeyoung’s head.

“Sorry! Ahahaha Mian, Sunmi unnie. You looked good by the way. Better than the old pink hair of yours.”
Chaeyoung gave two thumbs up.

“Yeah yeah. So, the usual?” Sunmi asked.

“Still as chic as ever. Yes please. Plus the…” Chaeyoung raised her hand and blocked Mina’s view to he mouth and whispered “my special order.”

Sunmi smiled. “So you finally found….” She looked Mina from head to toe. “Never thought it will be her.” Sunmi mumbled sarcastically to tease Chaeyoung. 

“What?” Mina asked politely as she noticed the girl observe her appearance.

“Nothing.” Sunmi chuckled. She put the pen and small notepad in her front pocket.

“It will take just abooooouuuut……… 30 minutes. Yeah. Sooooo help yourselves with the water and juices over there, Nana said it’s free for the two of you since it’s been a while since you to dined in here.” Sunmi then left.
“Wait here for a sec. I will just catch up with halmeoni!” Chaeyoung stood and went to the back, where the staffs work.

 

After a good 35 minutes, she went back.

“That was fast.” Mina said as she pulled out a hanky when she noticed that Chaeyoung was sweating a lot and wiped it.

“Thank you.” She dimpled smiled.

Mina then looked at Chaeyoung. “I still can’t believe that you brought me here!”

Chaeyoung just shrugged. “I just miss our hang out place, the vibes.” She smiled.

 

This is one of the things Mina found amusing in Chaeyoung. She doesn’t look like the person who would love old, vintage things, but here they are, at a place where everything came from the 90’s.

 

“Yeah……. We almost lived here.” Mina chuckled.

“Remember that one time! When……” and the two was absorbed into their own world.

Their never ending chat didn’t end. Even if their food came, they just thanked Sunmi and continued chatting while eating.

 

Mina was actually surprised by what is served. It’s their usual order, A frapuccino with whipped cream, strawberry frappè, large fries, a hamburger cutted in half as requested, and their all time favorite, the diner’s special, plus!  A dish that she has never seen before.

She was observing the dish. It looks like a japanese food, but she thought that why would they serve japanese food here.

 

Sunmi slipped her a note smoothly without Chaeyoung’s notice while she was still curious about the dish.

She looked at Sunmi and she just winked and mouthed “read it.”

 

She looked back at Chaeyoung who was currently telling her stories about what she did while she was out of school while her gaze is focused on the food.

 

She opened the note. 

 

And that made her love Chaeyoung more.

 

‘She cooked that dish, specifically for you.’

She smiled.

 

Then Sunmi approached them again.

“How is it?” 

“It’s good!” Chaeyoung exclaimed.

Then Sunmi looked at Mina. She leaned in and whisper. “She specifically requested for us to use our kitchen to made this recipe and told us about it since she failed with the taste. It’s actually hard since the method of cooking is different when she showed it to us, but when we succeeded in making it, she said that she will only order it when she finally had her crush say yes to the date. I guess after years of trying, you finally agreed huh.” She then pulled back and smiled teasingly. 

 

Mina blushed.

“Yah! What did you tell her!” Chaeyoung shouted

“Nothing. Im gonna go attend to other customer now.” Sunmi left again.

 

 

Mina was still processing what she heard.

What? She thought.

 

“Yohoo! Mina to earth?”

 

Still no response.

She waved her hand in front of her. And when she still got no response, she scooped some whipped cream with her finger and pasted it on Mina’s nose, causing her to react with the sudden cold.

 

“Uh.. what?” Mina blinked fast.

“I told you to taste the dish. Tell me how it taste.” 

 

Mina obliged. She took her fork and gracefully took a small part of the dish and ate it.

 

 

 

She was stunned at first. She blinked slowly.

 

She then took another bite.

 

And another one.

 

And another one.

 

‘She remembered….’ She thought.

 

 

Throwback.

Mina and Chaeyoung are at their usual hangout, eating and chatting happily. Until their topic came to foods.

“You know, there is this our neighboor, an old woman,  way baaaack when we we’re in Japan that I am very close to. Since mom and dad was so busy back then, I never tasted mom’s cooking. She cooked this dish that I never tasted before. I don’t know what kind of dish was that, but I wanna taste that again.” Mina rested her chin to her palm.

“Can you describe it for me?” Chaeyoung asked.

“It’s....”

 

 

Present time.

It didn’t exactly tasted like what the old woman cooked, but still, it made her want to cry. The taste is different, but there is something that made her feel the same while eating the specific dish.

 

It made her feel like home.

 

Yes, her parents now cook. But somehow, when she tasted the old woman’s cooking back then, it made her feel like home just like how Chaeyoung’s recipe tastes. Chaeyoung’s cooking.

 

“I can’t describe it. But this is one of the best dish I ever tasted in my whole life. Thank you.” Mina smiled.

 

 

Chaeyoung then grinned and now ate peacefully.

She was staring at Chaeyoung like there is no tomorrow.

She can hear her heart ramming in her chest, wanting to escape. 

 

 

She never thought that she will fall for her best friend but here she is, head over heels for the girl in front of her that was sipping on the strawberry frappè

 

When Sunmi passed by them, she noticed the cream on Mina’s nose and pointed it out.

 

“Mina yah…..” she pointed at her nose.

 

Mina burrowed her brows, then touched her nose and felt something soft and wet.

 

When she looked at her finger, she saw a white substance.

Whipped cream.

 

 

She glared playfully at Chaeyoung who we’re now trying to hold her laughter back

 

 

“Yah!” Mina whined and playfully kicked Chaeyoung under the desk.

 

 

“What?” Chaeyoung asked while trying to stop from laughing.

“You’re mean.” She pouted.

“All right all right! Hahahaha Im sorry.” She picked up some tissues and wiped the cream off of Mina’s face causing the latter to blush.

“Now eat your food, we still have one place to go.” She dimpled smile.

They now finished their food in silence.

“Thank you halmeoni! See you again later! See yah! Sunmi unnie!” Chaeyoung waved goodbye at the two as they leave the diner.

 

 

They were now walking to nowhere.

“What now?” Mina asked.

“We’ll walk to nowhere.”

“What?”

“We’re just walking to waste energy.”

“Chayoungaaah….”

“kidding. Just keep walking.” Chaeyoung said.

 

 

Mina kept quiet as she walk.

 

 

Then she started to feel familiar with the place.

 

Have I ever been here before? She asked herself.

 

Unknown to her, Chaeyoung quietly slipped out and ran behind the trees, meeting her best buds.

 

“Thank you, Tzu, Dubs, I owe you one.”

 

“It’s fine. Just make Mina unnie Happy.” The tall one handed her the bouquet of Penguin plushies.

“By the way, what made you thought of asking her………. To be…….. you know……. Your girl. Just before the incident you were reluctant to ask her out.” Dahyun asked her next

 

 

Chaeyoung smiled. 

 

 

Back at the hospital just before Mr. Myoui starts to tell her about her dad’s condition

He just returned from ordering their lunch.

They were peacefully eating until Mr. Myoui broke it.
“You know, I took your dad as my patient because I know you were her daughter.”

I choked with the food I was eating.

He helped me with the water as he laughed slightly.
“Don’t worry we don’t object. That’s actually the reason why we became close.”

“I’m sorry sir but I-“

“Scared?”

“No! No sir. Just……”

 

He sighed and smiled at me. 

 

“Your dad really knows you.”

“What?”

“I already know the reason why you don’t want to pursue her. Don’t hide it, I know it’s my baby girl, Son said so.”

 

I cursed dad under my breath for being talkative.
He chuckled when he heard me mumble.

“Don’t worry, I like you for my daughter.”

 

His face suddenly became serious.

 

“Chaeyoung.”

she gulped.

 

“Yes sir?”
“Your Dad wants you to pursue your happiness. He said he's not happy if you’re not. He knows you’re reluctant because of the company, he knows that you don’t want to commit because you think you won’t be able to treat her right. He knows you so well that these are just some of the reason he told me why he thinks you offered to work under him.”

He sigh. Again.

“He only have one wish. Chaeyoung. Your happiness…”

Back to the present.

 

“It’s both mine and Dad’s dream.”

“Your dad……… dreamt of you being with Mina?” Tzuyu asked.

“No.” Chaeyoung replied.

“Wha?” Tzuyu buffled.

“He dreamt of my happiness. And my Happiness and dream is Mina.”

 

 

 

When Mina noticed the absence of presence beside her, she looked around and find no cub following her. She suddenly felt anxious.

 

“Chayoungah?”

 

 

“Yep, that’s the cue. See ya guys, I really owe you one.” Chaeyoung bid her farewell

“Sure, Goodluck cub.”  Dahyun waved and left with Tzuyu.

“Chaeyoungaaaah!!” Mina shouted slightly

 

Chaeyoung Breath deeply. She then went behind Mina quietly.

She planned on calling Mina normally but a sudden plan ran through her mind.

She tiptoed her way to Mina’s backview and………

 

“Boo!”

 

 

“AAAAHHH!?” Mina quickly turned around, shock evident to her face.

 

She slapped Chaeyoung on the arm.

 

“You stupid Little cub! You scared me!” she exclaimed, putting a hand over her chest.

“Sorry, I just felt like teasing you today.”

“You’re really mean today. I hate you.” Mina pouted and started to walk away.

 

 

Chaeyoung chuckled.

‘So adorable.’ She thought.

 

 

She ran and caught the girl’s hand and turned her around.

She was surprised.

 

Mina was crying.

 

‘Seriously!?’

 

 

“Wha-eh! Why- wha- Why are you crying?” Chaeyoung baffled.

Mina only sniffed.

“Did I really scare you that much?” concern is evident on Chaeyoung’s face.

 

Mina nodded. With a pout. 

 

Chaeyoung felt like she was witnessing a kid crying over an ice cream the fell on the ground.

As she doesn’t know what to do with the overwhelming feeling, she hugged the girl.

 

“I’m sorry okay? I wont do that again.” She kissed her crown.

Mina sniffled. Then replied “I was scared because you left.”

 

Chaeyoung pulled from the hug.

 

“You were gone the moment I turned around. I thought you ditched me.” Mina continued.

“Wha? Why would I do that?” Chayoung thought that the girl was ridiculous.

“I don’t know……”

 

Chaeyoung chuckled.

Mina then turned her head to the side. “What is this?”

 

Chaeyoung suddenly remembered her plan.

She looked around first and smiled to herself.

She then looked at Mina in the eye. 

 

Mina gulped at the intensity of Chaeyoung’s stare.

Then, Chaeyoung smiled widely.

 

“Do you remember this place?”

 

And now, it is Mina’s turn to observer her surrounding while wiping the remaing tearstain ln her face.

She widened her eyes. She turned around to confirm her suspicion

 

“Burnham park”

 

Her heart suddenly beated faster than before.

 

This is the place where She and Chaeyoung first saw each other.

She turned around, and saw the cub on one knee on the ground, hands on her back, smiling lovingly at her.

 

She gasped and put her hand on . She had an idea on what was going on. She felt like crying but she wont assume until it’s confirmed that it really is now happening.

 

The moment she was waiting for.
The first page of her own book.
The first chapter of her story.

 

“Minari. *she chuckled* I know that I pissed you off at our first meeting. But yeah. Haha.” Chaeyoung gulped. “, I’m not really good at words.” She mumbled.
She coughed to regain composture. “Do you know the reason why I brought you here?” she smiled dearingly at Mina.

 

“It’s because this is the first time I laid my eyes on you. This is where I met you. Everything, in this park, witnessed how I bumped into you, spilled your coffee onto you, yeah typical cheesy stories and , pissed you off. But, yeah haha atleast you didn’t slap me the first we met, met. Like, yeah, when we formally met. Hahahaha…………. Okay now to the mainpoint.” She breath deeply.

 

“I brought you to this place because since they witnessed our first meeting, I also want them to witness the first day of our relationship.” She pulled out the penguin plushies that is in bouquet style. Causing Mina to gasp, her hand over .

“Minari. I know that I am not a perfect human being. I make mistakes, like not seeing you for months. That could happen again. But yeah. Minari…
