Walking into the living room, Hye Ri squatted before L who she charged overnight after the ball. He was still in charging mode, with closed eyes. Staring at him, Hye Ri felt her eyes sting before tears began to fall. She didn’t bother to wipe them off or hide her crying face because she knew Myung Soo wouldn’t know in his current mode. She bit down at her lips really hard as she cried harder. The fact that Myung Soo would be leaving her tomorrow had been repeating over and over in her head like a broken recorder. Placing one of her hands on his left chest, she looked at L.

“Do you actually love me? You can’t feel the same way as I do, can’t you?” Hye Ri muttered as more crystal-like tears dripped from her chin.

There was no sign or trace of a beating heart under her touch which had given the cruel answer to her redundant question. Although she clearly knew the answer but she still couldn’t help but stupidly question him. At that instant, she hoped that L would open his eyes, tell him that he is actually not a robot and that he won’t be leaving tomorrow. However, that was merely a wishful thinking on her part. Unknown to her, there was a slight response in Myung Soo’s interior system which was not supposed to be present when Hye Ri said those words. Then, Hye Ri fell back and sat down on the floor in despair.

“He does not have feelings. He is just a robot but the stupid me treated him like a real human…Everything is programmed, including his love and affection towards me. Each and every movement is pre-installed but I took it for real. He was just designed and created by his company to make fools like me fall for him so that they can make profits. I am such an idiot to love you, Kim Myung Soo. Or should I call you L instead? Hahaha, Han Hye Ri… You are being stupid, loving a freaking robot.” Hye Ri said sarcastically as she laughed bitterly.

More teardrops ran down her cheeks as she buried her head in her knees. It hurt so much to know that Myung Soo was leaving tomorrow. However, she felt more pain realising that her boyfriend is actually a mere robot who never genuinely liked her. All this while, she had conveniently or perhaps purposefully ignored that fact. Now, she felt terrible inside out and all she could do was to cry. She didn’t know what else she could do.

“Fully charged.” Myung Soo said in his monotone voice.

He then returned to his normal mode and found himself staring at a crying Hye Ri. Removing the plug, he rushed over worriedly. Hye Ri looked up at Myung Soo with teary eyes and burst into a second round of crying. He knew better to keep quiet so he merely gave her a warm hug. Hye Ri swore she wanted time to stop when she was in his arms. She didn’t want another second to pass because she didn’t want the next day to arrive. She didn’t want Myung Soo to leave her side. She didn’t want to be alone in the house once more.

“Don’t cry.” He said as he tightened his hug around Hye Ri.

“I… I…won’t waste time crying anymore. I want to… spend the rest of the day with you meaningfully.” Hye Ri declared as she wriggled out of his embrace.

With a forced smile, she roughly wiped off those tears on her face. She wanted to be stronger and cherish the precious time the two were left with. Myung Soo smiled and nodded. With that, the two got changed and left Hye Ri’s house. They were no specific plans for the day so they were randomly strolling on the street. Then, Myung Soo took Hye Ri’s hand in his. She looked up at him for a second before smiling sweetly and looking away shyly.

“I wonder if there would be another chance to hold your hand after tomorrow…” Hye Ri couldn’t help but question in her mind.

“Want some ice cream?” Myung Soo asked with a warm smile as he pointed to an ice cream shop down the street.

“S-Sure!” Hye Ri snapped out of her thoughts and answered quickly.

“Let’s go.” Myung Soo said as he pulled her along.

“Stop, Han Hye Ri. Enjoy the day and stop thinking like this!” Hye Ri scolded herself mentally.

Entering the shop hand in hand, they went to the counter together.

“Welcome! May I know what the two of you would like to have?” The cute staff asked with a welcoming smile.

“I would like a mango sherbet. How about you, Myung Soo?” Hye Ri asked with a bright smile.

“I don’t want any.” Myung Soo said as he shook his head and smiled.

Hye Ri’s smile faded as she recalled Myung Soo didn’t have to eat.

“Hye Ri?” Myung Soo called out as he waved his hand before her.

“Ah, yea.” She faked a smile and replied.

Myung Soo then pointed to the cute staff waiting for Hye Ri to make payment. Hye Ri walked over to the cashier counter and paid before they made their way to one of the empty  tables. Sittting down, Hye Ri began eating. Myung Soo was staring at her with a wide grin played on his face. Hye Ri looked up from her ice cream and realized L was staring at her all this while.

“You are making me embarrassed by staring at me like this.” Hye Ri whispered shyly.

“It’s my rights as a boyfriend to stare at my pretty girlfriend, you know?” Myung Soo stated cheekily and winked at her.

Hye Ri smiled as she placed another spoon of the ice cream into . The ice cream melted and she savoured sweetness in . In contrary, she felt bitter deep down in her heart. The very fact that Myung Soo was sitting before her reminded her that he might not be there anymore from tomorrow onwards. Before tears were produced, Hye Ri shook her head, stopping herself from thinking further. She knew she was avoiding but if possible, she wanted to avoid the topic of his departure, forever.

Leaving the ice cream shop, the couple wandered aimlessly and found themselves at a random square. Then, water spurted out from holes on the ground, shocking the two slightly. Myung Soo smirked as he pushed Hye Ri into the water shooting out from the floor. Hye Ri yelled as she got wet from all the water splashing. Myung Soo chuckled at the sight. Hye Ri then pulled him in and the two enjoyed themselves in the water fountain. They were having fun chasing and splashing each other.

Time passed by quickly while they had fun exploring many other places and it was already night. Reluctant, the two returned home. After getting changed out, Myung Soo entered Hye Ri’s bedroom. She was already lying under her blanket. He went over to Hye Ri to give his usual goodnight greeting. Kneeling beside her bed, he found her with her eyes closed tightly. Brushing her fringe away, he gave her a light peck on her forehead.

“Goodnight.” He mumbled.

A silent tear slipped out from the corner of her eye and was rapidly absorbed into the pillow. She was still awake but she pretended to be asleep when she heard the door unlock, knowing it was Myung Soo. Just when Myung Soo was about to stand and leave the room, Hye Ri grabbed onto his hand.

“Stay. Please.” She said with pleading eyes.

Myung Soo smiled reassuringly and nodded. Taking the space beside her, they held hands and closed their eyes. That night, with their fingers laced together, none of them could fall asleep. They were only waiting for one dreadful thing- tomorrow.
