“No I don't want to go!” nine-year-old Jaeha hid behind her father's legs, “It's really scary!”

“It's not,” Jinyoung chuckled, “you've seen me do it before, you know it's fun!”

“But I don't want to do it!”

“I'll be with you, Jae.”

“But it looks really scary,” she whined.

Jinyoung smiled, fond of her cuteness, and he squatted in front of her. He put her pink beany correctly on top of her head so that it was also covering her ears and he closed her jacket up to the top. Since it was cold and they were playing in the snow, he didn't want her to be sick.

“Jae, it's just a sled. It's just a teeny tiny fall, you don't have to be scared, and I'll even be with you. I'm going to protect you and look,” he pointed at a certain spot down the piste, near a cabin, “daddy is there to save us if we need help.”

“So it means it might be dangerous, otherwise we wouldn't need daddy's help...”

Jinyoung laughed and wondered when had his daughter become this clever. He kissed her red nose and took her hands into his.

“He is also going to take pictures, so that we'll have souvenirs for when we'll be older.”

“I don't like pictures.”

“You'll like this one.”

He lifted her from the ground and ignored her screams. He quickly sat on the sled, put her in front of him and secured her thin body between his legs so that she wouldn't fall. From their high spot, he saw Jaebum waving at them and he decided it was time to go down.

Once they arrived, Jaeha, who had been screaming for the whole ten seconds of their little ride, suddenly shut up and froze. Jinyoung wondered what was going on and when he saw Jaebum coming toward them while running, he started panicking. He stood up and faced Jaeha to see if she was hurt in any way.

But right when he touched her shoulder, she jumped up and shouted happily, a big grin appearing on her baby face.

“That's was so fun!” she clapped in her hands excitedly, “Really really fun! I want to do it again! Appa! Let's go! I want to do it again!”

“Gosh you've scared me,” Jinyoung tsked.

“Let's go let's go let's go!”

She grabbed the sleeve of his jacket and dragged him behind her. When he asked her if she wanted to try one time with her dad, she said she only wanted to do it him with him, “because it's funnier with you,” she said. They slid down the piste a few times more, Jaeha always enjoying it the more she was going, but in the end, Jinyoung gave up and just told her to try to do it alone.

“Will she even get tired?” he chuckled as he watched her go up to the top of the piste, easily dragging the sled behind her.

“You shouldn't have let her eat ice-cream for dessert, now she's on a sugar rush.”

“But she loves ice-creams so much! I couldn't say no.”

Jaebum smiled and back-hugged Jinyoung. Their intertwined their fingers together to keep their hands warm and Jaebum put his chin on his husband's shoulder. Like this, they watched their daughter enjoying herself on the snow.

“She's so adorable,” Jaebum said as a proud dad, “look at her! Irresistible!”

“She is, indeed.”

Because of the several bumps on the snow, she fell and rolled over in the snow. Both fathers had the same reflex to go toward her in case she had hurt herself, but her loud laugh just confirmed them she was more than alright. She stumbled and even fell again a few times before she arrived next to them.

“Hey... my poor baby,” Jinyoung chuckled as he looked at her face and clothes covered with snow, “aren't you cold?”

“No I'm fine,” she giggled.

“There, let me just sweep away the-”

“No,” Jaebum cut him before he could move or say something else, “let me take a picture first!”

He put his knees into the snow and quickly took a bunch of pictures before Jaeha could ran away.

“Oh look at this one,” Jaebum shew him a picture he had just taken and on which Jaeha was grinning with her eyes closed. Her nose and cheeks were red and she had snow nearly all over her skin, but she didn't seem unhappy about it at all: it was even the contrary, she looked happier than ever on this picture.

“She's so pretty,” Jinyoung smiled.

“It's because she's your daughter.”

“Oh! Who's that? Is that Jaeha?”

Jinyoung jumped, startled, and then he sighed when he saw Mark looking at the picture he was holding in his hands over his shoulder.

“Yeah, it's Jae.”

“So pretty! How old was she?” his boyfriend laughed, “she really looks like you on this picture.”

“She was nine,” Jinyoung answered, “it was our first trip to the mountain and she was doing sled for the first time.”

“Cute,” Mark smiled.

“Cute,” Jinyoung cleared his throat and grabbed the nearest picture frame, “indeed.”

He cautiously put the picture under the glass and then let the frame rest on top of the chest of drawers of Mark and his' bedroom who was now done. The picture stood among twenty others, all of Jaeha through the years. Jinyoung had been smiling and remembering of the good times while he had been putting these pictures in frames, but now that he was done and was looking at all of them, something hit him.

He hadn't take any of these pictures. It had always been Jaebum or someone else who had taken them, but never him. For example, he had a picture of Jaeha at her high school graduation day, and it was obviously not him who had taken it since he hadn't even went to her graduation since he was busy with work. There also was another picture of Jaeha standing with her grand-mother, his mother, and this picture had been taken by his father while Jaeha was on vacations at their house. Fifteen pictures out of the twenty were memories he wasn't even part of and it made him feel really bad and made him feel like a failure. He thought that he was probably the worst dad a child could have.

He rushed out of his bedroom and went to the living room where his phone was. He quickly dialed Jaeha's number and as soon as she picked up, he spoke.

“I want to see you- no, I need to see you,” he said in a very serious tone, “I want to see you Jaeha. I'll be coming on Seoul on Sunday, let's meet at Kim Seokjin's restaurant at midday. Just the two of us.”

“Alright,” was her only answer, but he was enough for him.

When he hung up, he apologetically smiled at Mark who was looking at him with wide open eyes, apparently shook.

“I'm sorry,” he gulped, “but I... I really need to see her. It's just driving me nuts to know we're only one hour away from each other and that I still can't see her...”

“Jinyoung,” Mark lightly chuckled, “you don't have to apologize for wanting to see your daughter. Just go whenever you want to, don't ask me or don't apologize either.”

“You won't mind staying alone here?”

“Not at all. As long as it makes you happy, I'm fine very everything you'll do.”

As Jinyoung smiled, he knew he only needed Jaeha back into his life to really be happy.

Hello ! Here's the eighth chapter !

It's nothing much if only a flashback in the first half of the chapter, from the time when Jinyoung and Jaebum were still together, and then it's just a nostalgic and sad Jinyoung nearly begging his daughter to come and see him. And also a very supportive Mark :)
