“What are you thinking about?”

“H-huh?”

“What are you thinking about?” Jaebum repeated, “you look... troubled.”

“Oh... I'm just... thinking...” Jaeha shook her head and looked down at her copybook.

“Is it about your father?”

“No.”

“Then what? Did you fight with Yugyeom?”

“No.”

“Then... did you have a bad grade?”

Jaeha sighed and ran a hand thought her hair. In front of her, her dad was looking at her with sightly furrowed brows.

“I'm just tired, alright?” she ended up saying, “it's nothing, really.”

“Alright,” Jaebum said though it was obvious he wasn't believing a word she was saying, “alright...”

He cleared his throat and looked at his computer again. While Jaeha was working on an essay for the university, Jaebum was working on some files for his job and according to what she had understood earlier, he had a lot of surgeries coming up and he wouldn't often be home.

“You know... your father called me last night,” Jaebum said.

She stopped writing and looked at him. Her father had now been gone for one week and he hadn't try to contact her, not even once.

“What did he say?”

“He asked me if I knew whether you were mad at him or not.”

“And what did you say?”

“The truth. I said I didn't know and that if he had a question, he could just ask you.”

“Oh...” she bit on her lower lip and looked away.

“He seemed really worry though, about you being mad at him. We both know he hates it when you don't talk to him.”

“I don't care,” she mumbled.

“Jae... you haven't been sleeping and eating correctly for a week now... don't tell it has nothing to do with him-”

“Dad, please. I'm working.”

Jaebum quickly took her books away from her and ignored her complaints.

“It has something to do with his new boyfriend, right?” he asked with a very serious tone while staring right at her in the eyes.

“Dad,” she sighed, clearly pissed.

“Answer me.”

“Did he ask you to investigate? Isn't he old enough to ask me directly? Is he this cowardly?!”

“It's just me who wants to know, Jaeha. He didn't ask me anything.”

“Then leave me alone! It doesn't concern you!”

“So far I'm the one you're living with and I can't stand seeing my daughter being sad and unhealthy!”

“Then just do what you usually do!” she shouted back and she stood up, “just take care of that useless boyfriend of yours and ignore me! Whether it's you or appa you're both excellent when it comes to ignoring me anyway!!”

“J-Jaeha...” he watched her rushing into her bedroom and when she slammed the door closed, he sighed and cursed.

He didn't curse at her, but at himself because once again, he had dared to speak about something he knew was a very sensitive subject and once again, he had failed and now she was mad at him. He knew he should just stopped being this stubborn and that he should let her alone, but he couldn't stand the idea of her unhappy because of him or of her father. When Jaebum had started to date Youngjae and that Jaeha had first started to become cold and rude, he had called his ex-husband and after a long talk, they had both agreed on the fact that they should always try their best for her to always be happy even if they weren't a family anymore. And they had also both agreed on the fact that even though they were divorced, when it would come to their precious and only daughter, they would do anything. But three years later the situation was the same and it was maybe even worst than it used to be: not only Jaeha wasn't talking to her father anymore, but she wasn't talking with her dad either. And Jaebum didn't know what to do.

The bell of the flat rang and Jaebum quickly went to the hall to open the door. There, Youngjae stood still with two boxes of fried chicken into his hands. He smiled when he saw his boyfriend's handsome face and he quickly pecked him before Youngjae entered the flat as if he was living here (which was practically the case anyway, he was just waiting for Jaebum to tell Jaeha about the pregnancy before officially moving with them). The younger one put the food on the kitchen's counter and left his coat on the sofa.

“What were you doing?” Youngjae asked as he rolled up the sleeves of his navy shirt, “is Jaeha here? Since I didn't know I ordered a lot of chicken and especially drumsticks since it's what she loves the most but-”

“She is here,” Jaebum sighed and dug his hands into the pockets of his sweatpants, “but I'm not sure she's going to join us.”

“Oh? Why? Did something happen?”

“Well, I talked about her father and-”

Because Jaeha came out of her bedroom at this exact moment, Jaebum shut up and looked at her completely ignoring him and Youngjae as she crossed the house. She put her shoes and coat on and she left without a word. Jaebum didn't ask where she was going, because he knew she was going at her boyfriend's place anyway and he just sighed.

“D-do you want me to go home?” Youngjae gulped, “I don't want-”

“Come here,” the dad tried his best to smile, “let's eat, I'm starving.”

“Hey... what about not going to school?” Yugyeom whispered.

“You know my dad is going to kill me if he finds out.”

“He doesn't have to know, you just have to pretend you went just like any other day.”

Jaeha smiled and turned around so that she was facing her boyfriend. She put her hand on his chubby cheek and traced the contour of his sharp jaw with her thumb. Yugyeom was really handsome and the more he was growing up and working out, the more handsome he was becoming. Jaeha was just so proud and happy to be his girlfriend. They had been together for three years and they had only argued once (during their last year of high school when the teacher had paired her with another boy from their class, Yugyeom had been really jealous and he hadn't talked to her for two complete weeks, it was only once the project was done that he came back). And at a period of their lives where all their friends were sleeping around and weren't thinking about having a serious relationship, Yugyeom and Jaeha were just doing perfectly fine.

And yet, they were both completely different. She was a girl from a rich family with wealthy and famous parents who weren't together anymore and he was from a poor, struggling but strong and united family: his parents had sacrificed everything they had for their two children. Jaeha was a temperamental person who was often rude, mean, offending and who was looking down on the other people, while Yugyeom was nice, caring and adorable and selfless. But through the other, they had found the best and they had made their relationship to work and to last.

“We could spend our day in bed, just like this, and we could cuddle,” he smiled and snuggled closer to her, “and... we could do other things too.”

She scoffed and playfully punched his shoulder.

“We can just sleep, too,” Jaeha said, “especially since it's already three am and that we're supposed to wake up at eight am.”

“Let's not go. Let's just stay here.”

“I can't...”

“You totally can! Please~” he whined and pouted like a child, looking at her with his puppy eyes.

She stared at him and tried hard not to give up, but he was just too cute and adorable so she couldn't fight for too long. She gave in and to thank her, he kissed her.

“Jaeha,” he whispered against her lips.

“Hum?”

“I love you.”

She smiled.

“I love you too.”

And so, concerning this chapter, the first part is about Jaebum and Jaeha from Jaebum's point of view, as you can see, everytimes it comes to her father, Jaeha doesn't really like it. And then it's just a cute moment before Jaeha and Yugyeom. Yugyeom has a big part in this story as Jaeha's boyfriend, he is literaly the third man of her life. So expect to often meet him in the following chapters :)
