“Hey... aren't these paparazzi?” Jaebum pointed at the entrance of Jin's restaurant, “with their cameras.”

“It must be,” Jaeha sighed and put on her sunglasses, “and saying I was thinking we would have a moment just alone...”

“Don't mind them,” Jaebum kissed his daughter's temple, “don't forget to call me once you're done.”

“I can take the bus you know-”

“Just go now, don't make Jinyoung wait.”

She nodded and bravely stepped out of the car. She kept her head down as she passed by the three men sitting next to the door of the restaurant. When they saw her, they all looked up and she heard the sounds of the cameras yet she completely ignored them and entered. Inside, Jin welcomed her with a big grin and told her her father was already there waiting for her. Indeed, at the back of the nearly empty place, she saw him sitting alone at the table.

It wasn't Park Jinyoung the actor, but really Park Jinyoung her father. His bangs were falling over his forehead and he had his black glasses on. Also, the few blemishes he had on his skin were visible, proving that he wasn't wearing make-up at all. And he was wearing a plain white t-shirt with torn blue jeans. Like that, he looked like any other men.

When he saw her, he stood up and smiled before he hugged her. She sat in front of him and Jin came to take their order.

“Just order what you want,” he told her, “go on.”

“The usual,” she said to the cook who nodded.

“Just... whatever she takes will be fine,” Jinyoung said.

Jin didn't bother them anymore and so they were left alone together. Obviously the atmosphere between the father and the daughter was weird since they hadn't meet for a long time now and both of them didn't really know what to say, so while Jaeha was playing with the straw of the drink her father had ordered for her, Jinyoung kept fidgeting on his seat.

“Who drove you there?” he asked after a while, “I saw you coming out of the car but couldn't see the driver.”

“Daddy.”

“Oh... how is doing? Does he have a spare day?”

“He doesn't work on Sundays anymore, he stays home.”

“Oh...” Jinyoung nodded, “that's a good things I guess, you can spend your day together.”

“Youngjae often comes along, so not really.”

“Oh Youngjae... I see.”

He cleared his throat and took a sip of his own drink.

“How was your week? How did school go?”

“It was alright. I didn't want to go because uncle Jackson is here but he forced me to go, so... I had no other choice but to go.”

“Jackson? He is here?”

“Hum,” she nodded, “he has spent the week at home but he is leaving tonight.”

“Is he going back to China?”

“Yes.”

“I-I didn't know, too bad he is leaving already, I would have liked to see him at least once...”

“Do you want me to call him and to invite him?”

“No, don't worry,” he smiled, “I'll see him another time.”

She nodded and whispered a weak “alright” because the silence between them settled down once again.

“And... and you?” Jaeha spoke first this time, “what did you do this week?”

“Not much, I just stayed home and with Mark we ended up decorating most of the room. We can fully live into our new house now.”

“Cool.”

“You... you have your bedroom, you know? You can come whenever you want to decorate it. I wanted to do it, or at least to buy just a bed and something for you to put your clothes, but Mark told me it would be better if you could decorate it completely, so that you would feel more at ease.”

“I guess he is right...” she mumbled, yet not really convinced.

“Are you thinking you could come during a week-end? It's not that far, barely two hours, and you can take the train to go there-”

“Or a car, since I have my license...”

“Y-you what? Do you have it?” he frowned.

“It's been six months now.”

“You didn't tell me.”

“I told you. I called you especially to tell you I finally had my license. But I guess you were too busy to pay attention to what I was saying to you, this day...”

“I... I don't remember...” he admitted and looked down, embarrassed.

“I bet you don't...” she scoffed.

Jin brought them their food at this moment and so they started eating, which distracted them a bit.

“Also, you have a week of break in May, right? We... we should try to spend it together.”

“Won't you be busy?”

“I can take time if it's for you.”

“Oh... time,” she snorted, “I'm not sure we have the same notion of time you and I...”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, I've been hearing you saying you would take time to come and see me for my birthdays for the past ten years and I've only seen you for my eleventh and eighteenth birthdays. Same goes for Christmas and New Year, and for my high school graduation...”

“Jae...”

“I know! I know! You're a busy man with a complicated schedule and since you have to travel all around the world for your work it's complicated to come and see your daughter! I know! You've been saying this for the past ten years.”

Jinyoung sighed and looked away not to see her sorrowful expression. As usual, whenever they were meeting, she was always finding a way to talk about all the bad things he had done and that he was himself regretting and she was always reminding him of how bad of a father he had been and still was. And no matter how much he tried to make things change and evolve, Jaeha just seemed to be too mad at him to forgive him and to move on.

“You know I came back to Korea just for you, right?” he said, pissed, “ever since I've arrived there I've been receiving a lot of letters and mails from producers and broadcasting stations who want me to work with them, and I've refused absolutely every single one of them, no matter how much money they were offering me. And do you know why I've done that? Because I want to have time just for you. I want to be there if to call me saying you want to see me. I want to be there if something happens and you want me to come and see you right away. I want the one to open the door of my house if you suddenly decide to come and visit me. I want to be there for you and you only, Jaeha. So I know I've taken a lot of decisions that weren't the right ones and I know you're disappointed in me, but I'm still your father and no matter what you think, you're my number one priority. So don't be too harsh with me, alright? Because for you it might not seem like so, but I'm trying really hard just to be with you now.”

Jaeha let him speak and somehow, she found herself being more affected then she thought she would be by his words. She didn't know he had stopped working ever since he had came back and she didn't know she was the reason why he had done so either. For a while, she wondered if she had been too mean with him, but because she didn't want to look sad in front of him, she told herself her reproaches were true and that it was too late to apologize especially when he had ten years to do so.

“I... I just want to be part of your life, Jae, like any other fathers.”

At this moment, her phone buzzed into her pocket. She looked at her screen just to check if it was something important and when she saw her boyfriend's name, she froze.

“You say you want to be part of my life again, huh?” she mumbled but loud enough for him to hear.

“Yes.”

“Then there's someone you have to meet.”

There it is, Jinyoung and Jaeha's short meeting which will lead to something else: Jinyoung and Yugyeom's meeting! (and let me tell you this, it is on two parts ^^)
