Chapter 24

CLOSER [HIATUS]

“There you are!” Ren said with relief when he finally found his mother sitting at a table in the food court.

“Hello, son!” She grinned brightly and got up to greet him with a hug. “Took you long enough to find me!” She added with a small chuckle when Ren pouted at her.

“Not funny.” He said and took a seat. “We’re busy people, we don’t have time for this.” He added almost in a scolding tone.

“Awh, you’re no fun.” She playfully reached over and hit him on the arm with her fist. “So, what did you need to meet me for?” She asked and rested her chin upon the back of her hands and gave him her attention.

“I hate to bring this up in such a place, but this seems to be the only time I’ll get to see you until next week… so I wanted to ask now.” Ren said and his expression changed.

“Oh… what is it?” She asked and suddenly felt nervous.

“Remember when I found out I was adopted a few years ago?” He asked and saw her look caught off guard by his question. “I was… wondering if you know anything about the family who gave me away?”

“I see.” Rina sat back in her seat and looked like she was really thinking about her answer.

“Please. If you do, can you tell me? All my friends say I deserve to know and I agree. I just want to know who they are…” Ren could see the hurt on his adoptive mother’s face and he knew why. “I’m not going to leave you… eomma. Relax. You will always be my eomma.” He reached over to take one of her hands into his. “You’re the one who raised me, you’ll always be the mother I looked up to and cherish, alright?”

“I know… thank you.” She gave a sad smile. “I do know the family who gave you up. I could tell you everything I know but…”

“But?”

“There are some things that I probably shouldn’t say, it’s not my place.”

“I understand.” Ren was disappointed, but as long as she could tell him something.

“I can at least show you who your biological mother is.” She sat forward and brought out her phone. She pulled up a contact and handed it over to Ren so he could look at it. The name said Jeon Hye Won and there was a picture of a woman for the contact picture. He tapped on it and he stopped and stared because… that was his mother, the one who gave birth to him.

He was awestruck, she was really pretty and he could see some of the features he shared with her. “I stayed in contact with her even though it was a closed adoption. We went to high school together, so we stayed friends after it all. She wanted me to have you.” Rina said with another sad smile.

“But why?” He looked over at her with such a lost expression. After he found out he was adopted, he tried to understand why he was adopted. Minhyun gave a few good points, “Maybe she wasn’t in the right circumstances to raise you.” That seemed to usually be the case when babies were given up, it was better than the child suffering in poor circumstances. But a part of him didn’t really believe that, and he wondered who would want to give him up like that, it hurt and so he had decided he’d never look into who his real parents were, he felt like why would he want to meet the people who didn’t want him? After hearing his adoptive mother say his biological mother wanted her, her friend from high school, to have him… why did she really give him up now?

“Well… I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to tell you why.” Rina bit her bottom lip and really debated if she should tell him despite saying she would. “She gave you up because she had an affair with her husband’s best friend. She came to Busan and stayed there for the pregnancy but told everyone else it was for work, she was pretty good at hiding it, but sadly… the wife found out later on and it caused a rift in their friendships and they ended up moving to the states for work. I felt so bad because they left behind the other child they had a year later after you were born.”

“Why?!” Ren was so sad to hear that. “If they were going to do that, shouldn’t they have gave him to you, too?”

“I was hoping for that, so you two could be together, but it was complicated.” Rina was starting to get upset now that she was retelling what happened. “He was really good friends with the daughter of your father, so they took care of him when his parents left.” At that moment, she realized she might have said too much now.

“Daughter… what was her name?” Ren’s heartbeat started to pick up when he started to think of the possibilities. He knew two individuals who would probably be prime candidates. The pair of best friends he met on the camping trip. Won Woo and Soo Min.

“I’m sorry, Ren.” She gave him a sad smile. “I have to go now.”

“Wait!” He grabbed onto her arm. “Just tell me quickly!”

“Another time, sweetie, okay?” She gave him a small hug and started to walk away.

“Damn it.” He muttered and kicked his seat before flinching. That hurt. “Fine, okay. I guess I have to do this on my own now.” He huffed and blew his bangs out of his face. He was dying to know who his father was now. He was dying to know who his half brother really is. He was dying to know who his half sister is. He wanted to take a wild guess and say it was Won Woo and Soo Min, it had to be, they look too similar to him! But he needed to make sure…

“Are you okay?” Baekho asked when Ren got into the backseat of his car.

“Take me to Aron’s place.” Ren simply said while buckling his seatbelt. “I have a job for him.”

“Right away.” Baekho nodded and started to drive off when Ren was buckled in. He looked out the window and sighed. There were so many thoughts running through his head now. That has to explain that weird connection I felt with those two… that familiar feeling. He thought quietly. He was snapped out of his thoughts shortly after they arrived to Aron’s place and Baekho gained his attention.

“We’re here.” He said before getting out of his car to open the door for Ren, but Ren was already opening it and was rushing up to Aron’s apartment. “Ren! Wait!” Baekho ran after him and was concerned by his behavior suddenly.

Ren knocked on the door until it was opened and Aron greeted them with a smile and a happy “Yo!”

“Aron. I need you to look into something for me.” Ren blurted out. “I need you to look into the two we met at the camping trip. Won Woo and Soo Min.”

“So you’re finally going to look into it now?” Aron seemed excited, despite Ren’s serious mood. This was something Aron did, he investigates things since his father is a private detective. Ren has had him look into a few things before but nothing this serious and Aron was ready for the challenge. “You can count on me!” He beamed. “I’ll start tomorrow.”

“No, you start today.” Ren demanded and Aron chuckled while holding his hands up.

“Can’t I finish my nachos first?” He asked and gestured to the food on the coffee table behind him in the living room.

“Fine!” Ren pouted before he entered to join him. He had Beakho come in too.

Won Woo was surprised to see Mingyu waiting for him in front of his apartment for the second day in a row this week. “Hey?” At least he wasn’t in a bad mood this time nor was he on and off crying either. “What are you doing here?”

“I came to return something to you!” Mingyu said with a bright smile. “I was just about to text and ask when you’d be home, but you just showed up, like yesterday! Fate is really doing us a favor lately!”

“Maybe.” Won Woo chuckled at that comment before he noticed Mingyu had something in his hand. It looked to be like a small clear plastic bag with something inside. Because he was staring at it, the younger held it up to hand it over. “What is it?”

“Your bracelet that you lost on the camping trip.” Mingyu said and waited for Won Woo’s reaction.

“Really?” He looked like he almost didn’t believe it and took it to examine it himself. “You found it?!”

“No, I actually didn’t…” Mingyu shook his head. “Ren did.”

“Ren?” Won Woo was confused until Mingyu explained that he had run into Ren earlier when he was having dinner with his mother. So, he was busy. Won Woo was glad that he didn’t interrupt that, or he would have felt bad. “I guess I need to thank him somehow.”

“I can contact him for you, just let me know when.” Mingyu gave him a sweet smile and Won Woo couldn’t help but stare for a moment. “So… have you had dinner yet?” He snapped him out of it.

“No, not yet. I just dropped Soo Min off at the campus for her evening class, but I didn’t realize it was already that time.”

“Do you want to have dinner with me tonight?” Mingyu asked innocently before he chuckled at Won Woo’s nervous expression. “I meant as friends, of course.”

“Oh… right.” Won Woo gave an awkward laugh and nodded.

“Shall we eat something different this time?”

“... how about we eat here for a change?” Won Woo asked before turning to punch in the passcode and opened the door. “We can order something to eat and watch some TV or something…?”

“That sounds good.” Mingyu nodded with a cute smile. “We can just hang out.”

“Yeah, hang out.” Won Woo smiled and let Mingyu enter first. “You can just leave your bag at the door.” He said while also leaving his bag at the door. “Wait, do you have any homework that’s due tomorrow?”

“Not that I know of.” Mingyu gave a sheepish laugh and Won Woo frowned. “I can explain, I went to see my mother earlier so I skipped my second class of the day. But that’s a good reason, right?”

“Oh…” when Won Woo heard him say mother, he remembered that woman who comforted him in the park, how motherly she was being to him. He was slightly affected but in the end smiled. “Yeah, I think that’s a pretty good reason.”

“I’m sorry.” Mingyu apologized.

“Why?”

“I know you said your parents live overseas… I assume you miss them, right?” Mingyu was cautious about asking, because he didn’t want to be too nosy, but it was the current topic right now so it was worth a try.

“I do.” Won Woo nodded with a sad smile. “But it’s okay, I’ll be visiting them during fall break.” He added.

“Really? That’s good.” Mingyu was relieved that it didn’t go south after asking.

“It’ll be my father’s birthday… I still haven’t gotten him a present yet.” Won Woo said before he turned to head to the couch. Mingyu followed after him and they both sat down. “By the way, what do you want to eat?”

“Anything is fine… and let me pay since you’ll be traveling soon!” Mingyu said cutely.

“Sure.” Won Woo couldn’t help but find that adorable. He was happy that Mingyu remembered what he said that time he briefly talked about his parents with him. It was so brief that he was sure it would have been forgotten by now.

“So, you visit them on their birthdays?” Mingyu decided to ask after Won Woo made an order on the app. (cuz dey kool like dat lol)

“I try to. I couldn’t go last year because I was sick. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to go this year either because of school, but since I kept on top of things, I’ll be okay to go.”

“That’s good. Are you going by yourself?” Mingyu seemed worried about that idea and Won Woo smiled once again.

“No, Soo Min and Jihoon will be going since they’re invited. Jisoo, too, his mother lives in the states as well. He's always happy to visit along with us and he helps us since he’s fluent in English and we’re still learning.” Won Woo explained.

“Really? So, you know English, huh?” Mingyu asked and Won Woo simply nodded. “That’s cool!”

“Not really.” Won Woo snickered.

“It is! I’m jealous!”

“Okay, calm down.” Won Woo laughed at Mingyu’s excitement. “Hopefully Soo Min and Jihoon won’t have to cancel, but I’m sure I’d be fine if I had to go alone.”

“I want to go.” Mingyu whined. “It sounds like fun!”

“Have you ever been out of Korea before?” Won Woo decided to ask some questions himself since Mingyu was doing it.

“Yes! But the visit to the states was so short and practically nonexistent, I was only there for a few hours and didn’t get to explore. I’ve been to other countries with my mother before too, like France and Europe.”

“Really?” Won Woo’s eyes widened a little. “Was it for studying or something?”

“No, I just tagged along because I wanted to go.” Mingyu chuckled. “Actually, I guess I haven’t told you, but my mother is a model.” He added. “She had gigs in other countries and I accompanied her a couple of times, but that was a few years ago. She doesn’t travel that much anymore.”

“Wow. I can see you took after your mother the most.” Won Woo said and saw Mingyu give a shy laugh and even saw his cheeks turn a light shade of pink. “What?”

“Nothing! Thanks for the compliment!” Mingyu grinned.

“Oh…” Won Woo realized why Mingyu had gotten flustered now. “You’re welcome.”

“My father, he’s a doctor. That’s why I know first aid, he trained me.”

“That’s nice.” Won Woo smiled. “I can see you take after him, too. You’re so nice and caring…”

“I think so too!” Mingyu beamed. “If you don’t mind me asking, what do your parents do?”

“Oh, uh…” Won Woo stuttered and snapped out of it. “My father is a businessman and my mother is a lawyer. There was more work for them in the states, and so that’s why they moved there.”

“Ah, I see. You couldn’t go with them?”

“I guess not. I didn’t understand when I was younger… I sort of felt abandoned, but after growing up, I realized it probably would have been hard to take care of a kid in their busy line of work. So, maybe it was better I didn’t go?”

“I can see how that would make sense, it was for your sake. Do they visit often?” At that moment, Mingyu realized he had asked too many questions by the expression on Won Woo’s face.

“No.” Won Woo said quietly and averted his eyes elsewhere. “I understand because they’re busy, but sometimes I wish they would have made time for me.” It broke Mingyu’s heart to hear that. He could tell Won Woo was upset now because he was thinking about it. He couldn’t imagine what being in his shoes was like. After what he heard from Jeonghan recently, it sounded like Won Woo’s parents leaving him behind really hurt him emotionally. And it was probably something that he really didn’t like to talk about. Mingyu started to feel bad for even trying to ask now.

“I’m sorry, Won Woo. We can talk about something else now.” Mingyu gave a gentle pat to Won Woo’s shoulder and he looked over at him with a bit of confusion before he gave a weak smile.

“Yeah, that was a little too much talking for me.” Won Woo admitted. “But thanks for listening.”

“No problem!” And as if on cue, the doorbell rang and alerted that their food was here. “I’ll get it!” Mingyu jumped up from his seat and ran over to the door leaving Won Woo behind on the couch with a cute little smile on his face. He was liking how they were becoming CLOSER and CLOSER each time they talked. His thoughts about love at first sight was still iffy, but he knew now that he was learning more and more about Mingyu, falling in love with Mingyu wasn’t such a bad and scary thing anymore because he wasn’t a total stranger.

That was probably the part he had a problem with about the saying “love at first sight” how could you fall in love with a stranger so quickly? Unless I should be trusting fate a little more now? He thought after Mingyu returned to the couch with their food. Mingyu came into my life for a reason, I’m sure of it…

“What is it?” Mingyu asked when he caught Won Woo staring at him once again, he was doing that a lot recently and while Mingyu couldn’t help but get happy about it. But now he really wondered if there was something on his face or something wrong with his hair today?

“Nothing.” Won Woo snapped out of it with a small smile and averted his attention to his food. “I ordered the beef and broccoli dish, right?” He asked and pointed at his bowl of fried rice and shrimp.

“Yeah. That’s weird.” Mingyu looked down at his bowl that was also something he didn’t order. “Wait…” The delivery girl gave them the wrong order. Immediately, Mingyu jumped up and ran out the door.

“What are you doing?!” Won Woo called after him and chuckled at how desperate the guy seemed when he leaped over the coffee table. He is crazy! He thought while getting up to see where Mingyu ran off to.

“Wait! Delivery lady! Wait! Stop!” Mingyu was shouting from the hallway balcony. “You gave us the wrong order, don’t go!”

“Hey, it’s fine!” Won Woo laughed and patted him on the shoulder, but Mingyu kept shouting. “Shhh, the neighbors are probably going to hate me!”

“But…!!” Mingyu looked so dejected now and while Won Woo should feel bad for him, he thought it was cute.

“We can order something again.”

“And have them get it wrong a second time?!” Mingyu pouted.

“Don’t worry about it, let’s just order a pizza, how can they get that wrong?” Won Woo said after they were back inside the apartment.

“What about the food I bought?! Are we going to let it go to waste?!”

“No, I know Soo Min likes this kind of thing, so I’ll save it for her. If you don’t want yours, I’ll save it too. I mean, I would eat it, but I don’t like seafood.”

“Oh, really?”

“Yeah, so it’s better off in the King who’d eat anything’s stomach.” Won Woo joked.

“Well, as long as it’s not going to waste, I’m fine with that.” Mingyu smiled. “But I’ll also pay for the pizza, too!”

“Sure.” Won Woo chuckled before making the order a second time.

Speaking of falling in love…

Jisoo: ...

*literally made me laugh out loud while starting this scene*

Someone decided to pay a visit to Jeonghan this early evening shortly after Soo Min left. “Wow,” Jisoo said with a look of awe when he admired the huge bouquet of flowers on the coffee table in the living room. “Someone has an admirer.” He chuckled.

“It’s the biggest bouquet I’ve ever gotten!” Jeonghan said happily, he looked like the overly happy girlfriend right about now and it made Jisoo laugh at that thought. He could totally fit the part.

“Maybe.” Jisoo shrugged at that. “I could possibly get you one 10x bigger than that.” He joked.

“Is that even possible?” Jeonghan snickered at that comment.

“I could make it possible.” Jisoo said with a small smirk.

“Thanks babe, but it’s not a competition. Save it for when you do get a girlfriend.”

“Right.” Jisoo gave a small laugh but Jeonghan didn’t notice there was a hint of dejection in it. Jeonghan didn’t notice a lot of things recently, and that was a good thing for Jisoo.

“So, what’s up?” Jeonghan asked and gestured for Jisoo to sit on the couch with him. “Didn’t feel like going home yet?”

“Yeah.” Jisoo replied while taking his seat. “Our new roommate is still getting adjusted, it’s been tough since Junhui left on that camping trip. My Mandarin is a bit rusty so there were a lot of misunderstandings… I thought to leave him with Junhui for the evening. So, I’m just killing time now until I go home.”

“Ah, sounds like a headache.” Jeonghan pouted. “Well, you’re free to kill your time here!”

“I knew I could count on you.” Jisoo chuckled.

“Always!” Jeonghan beamed. “Have you eaten yet? We can order something?”

“Sure.”

Jeonghan pulled out his phone and started to make an order on the app(cuz he also kool like dat) he used last time when Soo Min was over yesterday. He asked Jisoo what he wanted and he told him his answer before he grabbed the remote to turn the TV on. When the order was completed, Jisoo had something to ask Jeonghan.

“So, I noticed you were in a bad mood yesterday. Did something happen?”

“Oh, that.” Jeonghan said with a weak smile. “It was nothing, don’t worry about it.”

“Are you sure?” He could see how worried Jisoo looked and decided maybe he should tell him and not keep him in the dark.

“Soo Min and I had a fight yesterday, but it’s been resolved… as you can see.” He gestured to the bouquet of flowers.

“Oh, I see.” Jisoo nodded. “Sorry about that.”

“No, it’s fine. It was my fault to be honest.”

“Don’t be so hard on yourself.” Jisoo frowned. “I hate to say it, but it takes two to fight.”

“I know…” Jeonghan felt bad when he started to think about it. “But it’s okay now. We were able to talk it out.”

“One of these days it won’t be enough.” Jisoo muttered and faced the TV. He was suddenly mad about it and didn’t understand why. He figured it was because he hated to see his friend in a bad mood because of a fight in his relationship, but did that really explain the weird pang he got in his chest when he heard him say it was all good? Jeonghan was the closest friend he's ever had before, so it was safe to say if Jeonghan was upset, Jisoo would be upset, too.

Jeonghan had caught what Jisoo said and was going to ask why he said it, but he decided not to and only watched Jisoo with a dejected expression. He knew Jisoo got upset whenever he fought with Soo Min, he was just that friend who cared a lot and didn’t want to see him hurt and not happy. But he started to wonder if he cared a little too much, as in… would he not support his relationship if the fights continued to happen?

The rest of the visit was spent in silence and they watched whatever was playing on the TV until Seungcheol came home. That’s when Jisoo decided to leave. “See you tomorrow.” He gave that friendly wave to both Seungcheol and Jeonghan before he stepped out and shut the door.

“At least you weren’t alone while I was out.” Seungcheol said before he noticed the expression on Jeonghan’s face. “Something wrong?”

“No, it’s nothing.” Jeonghan assured him with a weak smile and ran a hand through his long locks. Seungcheol knew that was a bad habit of his best friend’s, always touching his hair, but he could tell when he ran his hand through his hair more than once, something was bothering him. Being friends for years, you tend to pick up on that kind of thing.

“Really?” Seungcheol didn’t seem to believe his words and gave him that tell me look.

“I just miss my King, that’s all.” Jeonghan chuckled and walked over to admire his bouquet of flowers for the nth time that evening. The smile on his face was genuine and sincere and he looked so lovestruck as he touched a few petals that was closest to him. He looked so happy now.

“You’ll see her tomorrow, cheer up.” Seungcheol said with a laugh and smiled. His roommate could be so cute when he missed his lover.

“Soo Min!” Min Ji stuttered and reached out to her left to pat on her friend's arm to get her attention, but her eyes were locked on the screen in front of her, so she missed the first time before successfully hitting Soo Min’s arm.

“Oh my god, Min Ji!” Soo Min complained and that got the girl to finally tear her eyes away from the screen. “You just messed up my sketch!” Soo Min scolded while erasing the mistake the best she could.

“Sorry!” Min Ji gave a sheepish giggle.

“What are you hitting me for anyway?” Soo Min sighed after giving up on her sketch. She’d have to start over again, the pencil marks were too dark to erase completely.

“Oh, right! Look! You’re in the tabloids!”  The girl said in a whisper so their classmates wouldn’t be disturbed. It was currently a work day for their class, which meant that there was no lecture and they were to work on their current assignments and project for the class period.

“Really?” Soo Min leaned over to look at Min Ji’s computer screen and her jaw dropped. “They really published the photos?”

“What? You knew about this?” Min Ji asked, clearly curious.

“Well, I took a walk in the city yesterday and some guys were following me with cameras. I think they mistook me as someone else?”

“Apparently.” Min Ji returned to looking at the article to see who they were trying to talk about. “Who is Ren?” She asked.

“He’s a model, if you just read the rest of the article instead of just the name.” Soo Min pointed out.

“Sorry, sorry!” Min Ji gave another sheepish giggle before reading.

“I need the bathroom, I’ll be back. Watch my stuff, okay?” Soo Min said after a few minutes and got up.

“Kaaay~!” Min Ji said, not taking her eyes off the screen for a second. She was really interested in the article she was reading now.

About a minute or two later, a group of three entered the classroom and one asked if a certain student was in the class. They confirmed it and they ventured in to look for that student.

“Excuse me.” Min Ji heard someone say to her right. She turned to look up and suddenly froze in her seat. He was so handsome and she was currently dying on the inside. He’s talking to me! What do I do?!

“Look, Ren, it’s you.” One of his companies pointed at the screen.

“What, that’s not me!” Ren scowled and leaned CLOSER to read what the article was about.

Has Ren been lying about his height this whole time?

We all know he’s known for wearing some stylish shoes, even going as far as wearing heels a few times, but was that all a front to hide his true height?

His bodyguard, known as Baekho, stands at 5’ 10”(179cm) and you can see Ren is about the same height in previous photos. But as of yesterday, he was seen standing only at roughly 5’ 3”(160cm).

“Damn paparazzi, they must be blind.” Ren muttered in annoyance. Min Ji didn’t know what to say, she was still too stunned about this encounter and she wasn’t able to see that there was a third person with Ren and what seemed to be his bodyguard, that third person was snooping around Soo Min’s stuff while Min Ji wasn’t looking and other students hadn’t noticed either.

“Relax, Ren.” That third voice said and Min Ji quickly looked over to him. “Short guys are still cute.”

“Shut up. Are you done, let’s go!” Ren said bluntly before marching off.

“Sorry to bother you!” Baekho said politely to Min Ji and Aron gave her a small wave before they followed after the grumpy model.

“What in the world…” Min Ji muttered and stared at her computer screen that displayed the side by side photos of Ren and Soo Min for a couple of minutes. “They do look similar, though.”

“You think so, too?” Suddenly, Soo Min had returned.

“Jeez, you scared me!” Min Ji clutched her poor startled heart.

“Sorry.” It was Soo Min’s turn to apologize with a sheepish giggle.

She looked down at her stuff on the table and proceeded to pull out another piece of copy paper so she could start on her sketch again, but for some odd reason she felt like something was misplaced. I could have sworn I had my phone in my bag. What’s it doing on the table? She picked it up, she had a wallet phone case so she opened it up. It didn’t seem like anything was out of place but it was strange.

Just as she was about to put it away, she noticed something was different after all and frowned. Her ID was always facing inwards because she didn’t like her picture, she hated seeing it every time she opened up her phone case so she always turned it inwards so the back was visible. Her ID was facing outwards, showing her picture. Did I put it like that? She wondered to herself. I wish I didn’t have such a memory… She had to put those thoughts aside for now and finish up her sketches before class was over.

“It's about time I go pick Soo Min up at school.” Won Woo said after he and Mingyu finished watching an episode of a kdrama.

“Wow, it's that time already?!” Mingyu was surprised. “I should really go home, I have work in two hours!”

“I'll drive you.” Won Woo offered but Mingyu shook his head to reject it. “Why not?” The older frowned.

“I don't want to burden you. You'll be late on picking her up.”

“She won't mind.”

“I'll mind.” Mingyu chuckled. “I spent the evening with you, enough about me, go pick up your bestie, okay?”

“... thanks.” Won Woo felt conflicted but overall he was happy at Mingyu's words. It seemed like the younger was really making many efforts in their friendship. “Be careful on your way home.”

“I will!” Mingyu smiled after putting his bag over his shoulder and opened the door to leave. When he saw Won Woo's expression stiffen, Mingyu turned to see someone standing in front of him. It was Ren.

“Hi.” He waved at both of them. “Sorry for stopping by without calling.”

“Oh, uh, were you wanting to meet with him?” Mingyu asked and looked back at Won Woo who was confused. “You could have told me earlier? How did you know to come here?”

“It's a secret for now.” Ren placed a finger to his lips before looking over to Won Woo inside. “I hope you don't mind, I would like to talk with you, Won Woo.”

“Uh, sure.” Won Woo nodded and gestured for him to come inside.

“I'll get going now,” Mingyu gave them a smile before leaving out the door. Once he was gone, Won Woo told Ren to take a seat.

“What did you want to talk to me about?” Won Woo asked calmly. Usually he'd be nervous but he wasn't and he found it strange. Maybe it really had to do with the fact that Ren looked too much like Soo Min.

“Uhm…” Ren was ready to ask a million questions but at the last second, he chickened out! Damn it! “Uh, I was just wondering if… uh…”

“Yes?”

“Uh…” What do I say? WHAT DO I SAY?! He could see Won Woo tilt his head in confusion. “Do you like… Lady Gaga?” He finally blurted out. Won Woo stared at him for a second before laughing.

“I like her music, yes. Though Soo Min is a bigger fan than me.”

“Soo Min…” Ren repeated and he felt strange saying her name. It was almost like it was a name he should have been saying all his life along with Won Woo's.

“, speaking of her, I have to go pick her up at campus!” Won Woo jumped up and rushed to the door. “Sorry to cut this sudden meeting short. We can meet again another time?”

“Yeah, sounds good!” Ren got up to follow him out the door since Won Woo was in a rush. He barely got a goodbye out before he ran to the car down in the lot and that left Ren standing at the complex entrance with a small chuckle. The guy looked so frantic rushing like that, he must've been super late!

“Did you find out anything?” Aron asked once Ren returned to Baekho’s car.

“No.” Ren frowned. “I chickened out!”

“Why?!”

“Because… I'm scared!” Ren admitted. “I know I shouldn't be, but I am.”

“Awh, Ren.” Baekho felt bad for him. He couldn't imagine how he was feeling. It must be a lot to suddenly hear one day that he was adopted and then a few years later told he actually has half siblings he could have grown up with. Ren always complained how he had wished he had siblings growing up, especially a sister and to hear he actually did but never knew about it…

“It's okay.” Aron said a moment later. “It’ll be okay. Just take it slow.” He added.

“Thanks.” Ren said softly while he stared down at his phone. He had the picture Aron took of Soo Min's ID earlier and was admiring her similar face. Could you be the sister I've always wanted?

A lot of authors tend to cringe and get embarrassed over their past works... Then there's me, laughing my off as if I didn't write this myself lol

Chapter 146: Welcome back back

Ohhhhhhh all the tea is dropping one by one. Soo Min if your pregnant, it’s going to be great news and protective Wonwoon + Jihoon 😎😎 Jeonghan might be toasted lol Ren is going to be that “BIG DEAL”

The parents need to stop acting up and forgive one another. Be happy for the sake of your kids and rekindle with all the kids plus Rina.

Chapter 142: 😢 Our deepest sympathy to the Jeons of course.
As far as the continuation I think it would be ok since you will be updating a few months from now. Right now it would seem a little weird, but I don't think it will be bad later. Go with your heart though.
