Chapter 4

CLOSER [HIATUS]

“Won Woo, please! Help me!” Jeonghan begged as he tugged on his girlfriend’s best friend’s arm.

“Help you with what?” Won Woo sighed as he was standing in line for lunch.

Today was Wednesday, they were at the small cafe area in their college campus located in the main building. It was a little past 12pm and the two were ready to eat lunch after getting out of class. Soo Min unfortunately had two classes back to back, so she wasn’t with them right now, but Won Woo was going to grab her a snack and drop it off to her when he was done.

“Soo Min’s been giving me the cold shoulder since this morning.” His long haired friend said with a pout. “I texted her but I’m only getting one word replies and no hearts!”

“Oh gee, I wonder why.” Won Woo rolled his eyes with a small snicker.

He remembered Soo Min ranting on about how Jisoo was bragging about spending time with Jeonghan in a facebook status the other day, obviously intending for Soo Min to see. She was slightly mad about how she told Jeonghan to never let his friend in on her secret shipping of JiHan(because she thought she could trust her man with her secret, she thought wrong), but he obviously broke that promise as Jisoo knew all about it now and was using it to tease the poor girl. Before the small birthday party was over last night, Jeonghan had stuck around Jisoo instead of his girlfriend. Even if that was something harmless, she ended up taking it the wrong way, telling Won Woo “What happened to him getting jealous from my question about Mingyu? It’s my birthday, not Jisoo’s!”

“What is it?! What did I do this time?” Jeonghan asked with a slight impatient tone.

“Your problem, not mine.” Won Woo shrugged the hand Jeonghan placed on his shoulder off before taking a step forward when the line moved.

“Won Woo! C’mon!” Now began the whining when he started to jump up and down like an impatient little kid.

“Eh, what’s going on over here?” Someone asked when he and another approached the two. It was Seungcheol and Junhui.

“Won Woo won’t tell me why Soo Min’s giving me the cold shoulder!” Jeonghan complained before folding his arms across his chest.

“Ah, problem in loveland, huh? Did you shout the wrong name while making lo-” Junhui was saying before getting attacked by Jeonghan before he could finish his sentence.

“Yah! You ert!” Jeonghan exclaimed and grabbed him into a headlock before ruffling up his long stylish hair.

“Stop! Stop! Don’t touch my hair! Jeonghan! Stop! My hair! Seungcheol, help!” The victim complained.

“You asked for it!” Seungcheol laughed as Jeonghan gave no mercy to their Chinese friend. “This is probably why you’re still single.”

Once Jeonghan felt the guy’s hair was ruined enough, he released him from his hold with a satisfied smile. “Try getting ladies now, Wen Junhui!”

“Pssssh, I should thank you,” Junhui smirked while he touched his tangled hair, “it just so happens girls love bed hair.”

“Only on idols.” Won Woo mumbled with a small laugh when he gave him an offended look. Both Jeonghan and Seungcheol couldn’t help but laugh before Won Woo spoke again. “And besides, you call that bed hair? You look like you just got into a cat fight.”

“Well if I didn’t know any better, I’d say I just did!” He threw a glare Jeonghan’s way who only hissed at him with another laugh.

“Anyway, Soo Min’s giving you the cold shoulder?” Seungcheol turned to Jeonghan who started to pout all over again. He looked to Won Woo who only shook his head, taking another step forward when the line moved.

“You’re really not going to tell me?!” Jeonghan was about to go crazy now.

“Find out on your own.” Won Woo chuckled just as more people entered the area.

“Oh! Jeonghan, it’s you!” There was a very familiar voice that just shouted across the room and it was enough to make Won Woo freeze in his spot. Jeonghan noticed and an evil grin spread across his lips.

“Oh, hey Mingyu, why don’t you come on over here?!” He waved his friend over to him.

“Oh my god, look!” Another voice shouted, and Won Woo recognized it to be the blonde’s from Monday night. “It’s lover boy’s fiance!”

“I’m going to kill you!” Mingyu yelled, charging at Soonyoung who quickly made a run for it, leaving his stuff behind as he was chased out of the area. They were gone now as Seokmin stood there laughing to himself.

“Okay, nevermind.” Jeonghan mumbled with hints of laughter before looking back to Won Woo who had pulled his hoodie up over his head, holding the opening closed making only his eyes visible. He was trying to hide the embarrassment on his face from the others, but by doing that, it made it obvious. “Fiancé, huh? Is there something you forgot to tell us?”

“Shut up. I don’t know what they’re talking about. I don’t know them…” Won Woo’s muffled words made his friends laugh before it was now his turn to buy his food. He was quick about it, remembering to get something for Soo Min, too, before hurrying off to leave. He wasn’t going to eat there like he planned earlier. No way!

“Where are you going?!” Jeonghan called after him, sounding confused. He didn’t reply to him and only kept on walking. When he came up past the table where Seokmin was he noticed he was smiling at him. Won Woo covered the side of his face as he passed him, earning a loud laugh in response.

10 minutes later, Won Woo was sitting beside Soo Min in her class building in the computer lab at the table in the back designated for snacking, away from the expensive computers.

“Wow, fiancé?” She asked, trying to hide the grin that wanted to shine. They ship them together too?!

“I think his friends are worse than you.” Won Woo muttered as he had his head buried in his folded arms on the table.

“Thanks.” She chuckled, patting him on the back. “And, sorry.”

“Huh? Why are you sorry?” He lifted his head up to look at her.

“Had I known what kind of friends he had, I’d never have pushed you on getting to know Mingyu more. I know how loud and obnoxious people make you uncomfortable…” she had an apologetic expression on her face as she stared at the french fry between her slim fingers. “Sure, you’re used to my annoying self, but they sound like they’re on a whole other level, like super saiyan level or something...” she could see him hold back a laugh before it quickly faded back into a somewhat dejected expression.

“It’s fine.” Won Woo sighed, resting his head on his arms as he faced her. “Don’t worry about me… I’ll be fine.”

“Really?” She asked, clear worry in her tone.

“Yeah. If anything, I’m the one who should be sorry…” he reached over to push her hand with the fry up to , hinting for her to keep eating. “For so many years, you’ve been there for me when no one else was and I guess I’ve gotten so used to it that I didn’t even think about how it affects you. You canceled so many dates with your boyfriend just because you didn’t want me to be alone at home. You canceled so many plans with your girl friends because you claim you don’t like doing girly things like shopping and getting your nails done… but I know it was because you didn’t want to leave me at home alone.”

“Won Woo…” she frowned as he let out another small sigh, sitting up properly in his seat.

“I’m done making you suffer.” A sad smile curled at the end of his lips. “I’m done making you worry. I’m done depending on you. I’m... gonna let you go, Soo Min.”

“Y-You’re… ditching me?” Her bottom lip quivered and he couldn’t help but laugh. Of course she had to say something ridiculous like that.

“No, I’ll be with you forever, wingman!” He took her hand into his, giving it a tight squeeze. “But in all seriousness, you know what I’m trying to say, right?”

“I do, I do,” she nodded, a small smile returning to her lips, “and I’m proud of you! Hearing you say all that… makes me really happy. I know it’s been really hard for you growing up with everything that goes on, so I’m really happy to hear you say it. I really want you to branch out and be more social with others because, if I’m not around, you’re alone. And it makes me so sad to think that I’m the only one you really have…”

“I know.” Won Woo nodded, biting his bottom lip when he noticed tears welling in her eyes, he didn’t intend for her to start crying. “That’s why I’m going to try harder, so you don’t have to worry about me anymore, okay?” She nodded before covering her eyes with her free hand, a few tears falling down her cheeks. “Oh jeez,” he chuckled, turning to grab a napkin for her, “you’re so sensitive these days-oh.”

“Yeah!” She laughed at the flicker of realization on his face when she accepted the tissue. It was that time of the month when mother nature leaves women all over the world a lovely present for 4-7 days.

“So are you really mad at Jeonghan, or not?” He asked with a curious tone now that he knew why she was so emotional lately. “He was pestering me earlier to tell him why you were giving him the cold shoulder.”

“Period or not, I’m still mad.” She pouted, setting the napkin she used to dab at her eyes down before picking up another fry to munch on. “How could he tell Jisoo about my secret ship! Like, dude! I confided in him about it and everything and he goes and tells the guy?!”

“What a snitch.”

“No, what a !” She said with a complete serious face that had Won Woo dying of laughter. He swore the two were going to be together forever.

“Come with me.” Won Woo tugged on Soo Min’s jacket sleeve as she was typing something down on her laptop keyboard. It was about an hour later since he came to the computer lab with her snack and had that serious talk with her. He’d stay longer but he had a class in thirty minutes and he usually makes sure he’s there early.

“Go with you?” She looked up at him briefly before looking back to her screen. “To where?”

“My class is in the building next to the main one and… I don’t want to run into those embarrassing people on the way there.”

“But I’m doing homework!” She looked up at him with a frown.

“Please!” He held his two hands together, looking hopeful. “I’ll buy you take out later!”

At the mention of food, she paused to think about it. “... Min Ji,” she called to the girl sitting at a computer two seats down the table, the girl looked over at her quickly before suddenly getting shy when she saw Won Woo standing there looking her way.

“Y-Yes?” She always got like that whenever Won Woo was around(since she shared last semester with Soo Min, too), obviously finding him insanely attractive. To be honest, she was really envious of Soo Min who had an utterly hot best friend and to top it off, a gorgeous boyfriend.

“Can you watch my stuff until I get back? I won’t be long.” Soo Min said after she locked her computer before shutting it and getting up from her seat.

“Sure! Take your time!” Min Ji smiled while Soo Min brought her school bag over to the girl’s computer space along with her laptop.

“Thanks! I’ll be back!”

With that, the two left the computer lab and headed to Won Woo’s next class.

“Was her face always red like that?” Won Woo asked after they turned around the first corner.

“No.” Soo Min chuckled. “She was blushing hardcore, she has a major crush on you! My insanely attractive wingman!” She chimed while wrapping an arm around his waist to pull him close to her side. “Don’t be surprised if someday she confesses to you.”

“You mean she doesn’t know?” He frowned when he looked down at her.

“I didn’t think I was supposed to tell everyone?!” She let him go so they could walk down the short flight of stairs.

“Well, you should. I don’t want to give her false hope.”

“Then I’ll tell her when I go back.” She said before opening the door for them to exit out of the building. “She’s going to be so heartbroken, I can hear it now! You mean your insanely hot best friend plays for the same team?!

“Now you’re making me feel bad.” He sighed as they walked over to the entrance of the main building. Honestly, he could walk around it, but he didn’t like the idea of how long and complicated it’d be to do that given the layout of the building. He had plenty of time until class, too. His logic sometimes never made sense.

“Relax, it’s no big deal. All the hottest men play for the same team these days, she’ll get over it.” She assured him. By now, they were nearing the small cafe area where all that drama happened an hour ago. Won Woo was hoping everyone would have left by now but of course they didn’t! They were still there and what was worse was Jeonghan and the other two were at Mingyu’s table with his friends. They were all together now!

“…” Won Woo muttered.

“ is right.” Soo Min agreed as they were eyeing their friends from their hiding spot.

“Hey, you two shouldn’t be swearing.” A voice said behind them and caused them to jump in place. “That’s a bad word, please don’t say it again.”

“, I’m sorry, Jisoo. I’ll be sure to say it more often.” Soo Min said sarcastically with a small laugh but quickly frowned. “Ah, , that was rude of me, sorry.” Her frown turned into a look of horror before swearing again at her mishap once more. “!”

“Stop talking!” Won Woo laughed while covering before she could swear again. Jisoo was laughing by now and was obviously not offended when she was being sarcastic.

“What are you two doing? Are you hiding from someone?” He asked before he noticed Jeonghan and the others at the table across the room.

“Shhh, we weren’t here. Not a word, got it?” Soo Min said in a warning tone before holding a finger up at him. “You… go distract them.” She then pushed him away from their hiding spot. He almost tripped at the sudden action and unfortunately that drew attention from their friends at the table over their way.

“Hey!” Seungcheol called over while flagging them over.

“Go!” Soo Min pushed Jisoo again before turning to Won Woo. “Let’s run for it.”

Won Woo nodded his head and got ready to make a run for it while Jisoo looked at them confused before walking over to the table. He glanced over his shoulder a few times on his way over.

“Why are they not coming over?” Jeonghan asked once Jisoo made it to the table, he could see the other two step out of their hiding spot and made their way to the exit. “Hey!” He called out to them again. “Where are you going?! Come here!” The two started to run when they heard him calling over to them. “Yah!”

“What’s that all about?” Jisoo asked, he was suddenly feeling worried. Jeonghan’s girlfriend just basically ignored him in broad daylight. That’s never a good sign.

“Soo Min’s been giving him the cold shoulder.” Seungcheol quietly informed him.

“Why?”

Both Seungcheol and Junhui shrugged with clueless expressions on their faces.

“Enough about the girl, what about the guy?” One of the new faces at the table asked. He was another friend of Mingyu’s by the name of Boo Seungkwan. Soonyoung and Seokmin had been filling him on all the details about Won Woo and Mingyu’s blossoming relationship the past few days...

“He’s just really shy!” Seokmin blurted out before wincing when he felt someone(Mingyu) kick his shin under the table.

“Lover boy’s fiancé, right?” Seungkwan smirked before looking to Mingyu.

“Did I miss something?” Jisoo asked, he was completely lost now.

“It’s a long story.” Jeonghan laughed with a shake of his head. “I’ll tell you later at your place.”

“Hyung, I have an inkling maybe that’s your problem with your girlfriend right now.” Mingyu spoke up while trying to move the spotlight away from himself. Jeonghan had vented a little to him earlier before class and from the things he’s said about this week, he got an idea of what might have been going on.

“What do you mean?” Jeonghan asked with a curious expression.

“The whole ship thing with you and him,” Mingyu pointed to Jisoo, “sounds like that was supposed to be a secret.”

“Really?” Jisoo frowned and he started to connect the dots.

“Well, it’s not a secret now.” Junhui muttered before taking a sip from his drink.

“!” Mingyu slapped a hand over his face and mentally scolded himself for saying that out loud.

“No swearing at the table, please!” Jisoo warned. Mingyu’s friends didn’t even try to hide their laughter. While Jisoo scolded Mingyu and his friends about swearing and making it a laughing matter… Won Woo and Soo Min finally made it to his building.

“Must I walk you to your classroom too?” Soo Min asked after they came up to the entrance.

“No, I’m good. Thanks.” He assured her while turning around to wave goodbye. “I’ll see you at home?”

“Yeah, but if not, I’ll text you.” She smiled, though he noticed a hint of discomfort in her expression. “Good luck in class!”

“You too. Bye.” He brushed it off and tried not to think too much into it before he waved and opened the door to enter. He stopped when someone came out, their blonde hair was distracting and stopped Won Woo in place.

“Oh, hey, Won Woo.” He greeted after looking up to him because he was short… shorter than Soo Min, too, standing at 5 foot 3 inches! But then again his last measurement was a year ago, he might still be growing.

“Hey, Jihoon, your class let out early?” Soo Min asked as he turned greeting her briefly before shaking his head in reply.

“I only have one class on Wednesdays.” He corrected.

“Right. I forgot.” She gave a sheepish laugh before thinking of who else was done with class for the day. “I still haven’t remembered everyone’s schedules.”

“You have the rest of the semester to screw up, don’t worry.” Jihoon said with a small chuckle and Won Woo laughed at the pout she gave their friend.

“Walk her to her building for me, will you?” Won Woo asked Jihoon once they were done teasing her.

“Why?” He asked before looking to Soo Min, she had a slight annoyed expression on her face and he recognized it as the ‘guys are being jerks, I don’t want to deal with them’ expression'. “Got it, say no more.” He assured Won Woo with a small thumbs up.

Jihoon was the third member of their close trio. He’s been with them since he was 15, about 5 years ago. He wasn’t loud or too talkative which suited Won Woo’s quiet self and Soo Min wasn’t that loud and annoying back then either. They’re close, but not as close as Soo Min and Won Woo, the WooMin duo.

“Thanks. See you later.” Won Woo waved again before he disappeared into the building.

“Let’s go.” Jihoon said while taking a few steps before noticing Soo Min wasn’t following him.

“Just give me a second.” She mumbled, she was holding her stomach with a slight pained expression. He also recognized that expression as the… ‘I may or may not be dying from my menstrual cramp, we’ll see in a few minutes’.

After a few moments passed, they heard the door open and Won Woo came out quickly while looking around before locking his eyes on Soo Min who was leaning on the wall in pain and Jihoon looked at him confused.

“Why did you come back? What about class?”

“I got an e-mail that class was cancelled before I got to the second floor. Something came up and my instructor couldn’t make it.” He explained before he walked over to Soo Min. “Let’s go home.”

“But I have class in an hour.” Soo Min managed to say when she straightened up from her leaning position.

“Can you really sit through class like that? You should go home.” Jihoon said in agreement to Won Woo’s suggestion.

“Maybe it’ll go away by then?”

“You forget I’ve been with you for 15 years, I know it’s not going to go away in time.” Won Woo shook his head before resting his hands on her small shoulders to guide her back to her building.

“But-”

“Listen to him!” Jihoon scolded. “I’ve been with you for nearly 5 years, we know what we’re talking about.” He added with a somewhat parental look. “Want me to go get your things?” He then asked.

“If you don’t mind?” She nodded weakly, she figured her protests would be useless against the two.

“Of course not. I’ll meet you guys at the front then.” He said before he headed off towards the main building.

“Min Ji’s going to die from her nerves when he walks into the room.” Soo Min chuckled when she imagined the poor girl freezing up in her seat when Jihoon asks if she’s the one watching her things. Min Ji was also familiar with Jihoon from spring semester, too. Actually, she was familiar with all of Soo Min’s friends because they would always come to see her at the computer lab if they were passing by.

“She’ll be fine.” Won Woo also chuckled at the thought. “Let’s get going though.”

“Why does the front have to be so far away?!” She complained when they started walking.

Unfortunately, they had to go through the main building again which meant they’d have to pass the cafe area. Not much time had passed since they walked through there, so everyone was most likely still there. When they curiously glanced to the other side of the room they saw Jihoon talking to Jeonghan and the others at the table.

“Backstabber!” Soo Min whispered bitterly.

“Chill out, you didn’t even specify which jerk you were pouting about earlier.” Won Woo nudged her. They saw Jihoon leave the table and the dejected look on Jeonghan’s face. He pulled out his phone and seconds later Soo Min’s phone buzzed in her pocket.

Jeonghan: Babe, are you okay? Where are you? :’(

“Don’t ignore him anymore. He probably just found your fangirl obsession cute and slipped up when he was with Jisoo.” Won Woo nudged her shoulder.

“Aish…” she sighed while staring down at her phone. She was hesitant on hitting reply but Won Woo reached over and tapped the option for her.

“Text him back. More than one word, too.”

“Fine!” She started to tap away on the screen.

Soo Min: Not really :( I’m going home.

Jeonghan: Awh! Where are you? I’ll take you home!

Soo Min: No, that’s okay. You have class soon. Don’t worry about me! Won Woo’s class was cancelled, he’ll take me home. I’ll call you later.

She looked over back to the table to see the worried look on his face as he read her latest text. He sighed and looked up briefly before he spotted her looking at him from her hiding spot. “Shoot! He saw me!” She ducked around the corner. They could hear Jeonghan’s chair scoot back and rushed footsteps coming their way.

“I’ll let you two have some privacy.” Won Woo ruffled her hair a bit before heading to the front entrance quietly, hoping the others at the table wouldn’t notice him and focus on Jeonghan’s dramatic flee to his girlfriend.

Seconds later, Jeonghan was in front of Soo Min, looking down at her with that same worried expression. “Jihoon discreetly told me at the table. Are you sure you don’t want me to take you home?”

“I’ll be fine. You have class, and I don’t want you skipping because of me.” She frowned. “School comes first, okay?” Her birthday was an exception since she also didn’t want to be alone while everyone was at school.

“But…”

“Don’t make me get mad at you all over again!” She laughed at his protest, here she was trying to protest about going home a few minutes ago, how ironic.

“Fine, okay!” A small smile tugged at his lips, he was relieved to hear her laughing. “I’ll stop by later, then?”

“If you’re brave enough?” She joked.

“Of course!” His small smile turned into a wide grin. “Anything you want? Just say it and I’ll get it for you.” He reached over to take her hand into his and held it tight.

“Take out!” She instantly beamed.

“Other than take out.” He chuckled.

“Why not?!” Her expression dropped.

“You shouldn’t be eating salty and fatty foods, it’d just make it worse. I’ll bring fruit instead!”

“Oh… yum.” She said un-enthusiastically and earned a laugh from her boyfriend. “Just kidding, I love fruit.” Her smile returned quickly.

“Good.” He gave a light kiss to her forehead. “I’ll let you go now, let me know when you get home, okay?”

“Okay, good luck on class.” She gave a thumbs up his way before spotting Jihoon returning with her things.

“Thanks!” Jeonghan gave a small wave before leaving back to the table where everyone was patiently waiting to hear what was going on.

“So, what happened?” Seungcheol asked when they saw Jihoon walk Soo Min to the entrance where Won Woo was also waiting for them.

“You all know what a period is, right?” The table went silent and Jeonghan didn’t know if he should laugh or facepalm.

“Ehem, well,” Jisoo cleared his throat, “anyone else have something non-personal to discuss?”

“Could that explain Mingyu’s mood swings?” Soonyoung raised his hand, he was referring to how said person had done nothing but glare and hit them while the others weren’t looking this whole time. “Sweetie, why didn’t you tell me you started your period!” He gushed after resting a hand on Mingyu’s shoulder. “We must celebrate! You’ve blossomed into such a beautiful woman, I’m so proud!” The whole table erupted with laughter when Mingyu gave that famous deadly glare towards his blonde friend.

“Kwon Soonyoung, at this rate I won’t be surprised if you go missing by the weekend.” Seungkwan shook his head with hints of laughter in his tone. Seeing the deadly aura around the guy, he paused. “Actually, scratch that… you’re definitely going missing by the end of the night.”

I want to mention that I don’t use text language for the texts because this doesn’t take place in America lol so like obviously they won’t have like You=U or Nevermind=NVM (In this case I’m using Lol for their ‘kekeke’ XD) and the other text slang and stuff that Americans have. It’s Korean, it’s obviously different, they’re going to have different slag and stuff but since I don’t know it, I’m just opting to use the way I typically text. Let alone when I text people I don’t use text language anyway XD

I mean it’s cool if others want to use it but I just cringe when people use it with me >< Besides, even if I knew how Koreans text, Soo Min, Won Woo and Jihoon would probably be scolding everyone and tell them to use proper sentences and grammar lol I know I would! The only time I ever use “u” or “gtg” and the other small slang text words is when I’m eating while texting someone or in a rush and twitter since they limit you on your words, so I might be a bit of a hypocrite but I prefer that we all use proper spelling! XD

But I am an adult now, I’m all grown up and I have learned from my cringy past! LOL I honestly don’t know much slang these days in the text language, took me a year to figure out what tmw and mfw meant XD tmw=That moment when mfw=My face when

Chapter 146: Welcome back back

Ohhhhhhh all the tea is dropping one by one. Soo Min if your pregnant, it’s going to be great news and protective Wonwoon + Jihoon 😎😎 Jeonghan might be toasted lol Ren is going to be that “BIG DEAL”

The parents need to stop acting up and forgive one another. Be happy for the sake of your kids and rekindle with all the kids plus Rina.

Chapter 142: 😢 Our deepest sympathy to the Jeons of course.
As far as the continuation I think it would be ok since you will be updating a few months from now. Right now it would seem a little weird, but I don't think it will be bad later. Go with your heart though.
