Chapter 5

CLOSER [HIATUS]

“How was class?” Won Woo asked the tired girl who had her head buried in her folded arms on the table beside him. It was the next day, Thursday.

“It went great.” She mumbled and her voice was trapped within the small space created by her arms.

“Then why are you being like this?” He chuckled at her reply before taking a sip of his juice. He found out it was DAY6 of her monthly, usually she starts to go back to normal by now.

“Because…” she lifted her head while sitting up in her seat and rested a hand on her right shoulder. “I over did it. I went too far. I was careless.” She began to say dramatically.

“What happened?” He sighed and refrained from rolling his eyes when he reached over to adjust her beanie that tried to slid off from her sudden movement.

“I killed my shoulder!” She pouted after leaning back in her seat and let her head drop back. Won Woo quickly caught her beanie from hitting the ground with a louder sigh this time.

“How on earth did you do that?” He asked, completely curious now. He hadn’t thought Graphic Design was a sport. He held onto her beanie just knowing she wasn’t done whipping her head around!

“I worked on my portrait non stop without any breaks… my shoulder muscle is so sore now. but in the end, it was worth it, Leo came out beautifully!” She grinned, picking up her phone to pull up the picture she saved to her phone of her final piece. She had done a portrait of VIXX Leo, one of her favorite Kpop idols out of many for a class assignment.

“Wow… you did this?” Won Woo asked with his jaw dropped, taking her phone to get a better look.

“Yup!” She beamed, loving the reaction she was getting.

“Is there anything you can’t do?” He smiled, handing her phone back.

“Oh, stop!” She blushed at the compliment. She wasn’t praised a lot while growing up, any time someone would give her a compliment, she’d get easily embarrassed and modest about her talents.

“Really, Soo Min, that’s awesome.” Won Woo added, looking incredibly impressed. “There’s no way I could do something like that, I just don’t have the patience for it.”

“And I do?” She joked, pointing to her aching shoulder. “It was like I didn’t have time for breaks!”

“Nah, it just shows you were in the zone, that you’re passionate about what you’re doing.” He assured her with a small laugh. “But be careful next time, alright?”

“I will.” She nodded, leaning forward on the table again. He took the opportunity to put her beanie back on her head for her, tucking it a little past her eyes as a joke. “Hey!” She laughed, peeking over to pull his beanie down too!

It was mid afternoon right now, Soo Min’s class had let out about thirty minutes ago at 1:15pm, Won Woo’s ending at 1:30pm shortly after. They both decided to meet up at the cafe for a late lunch. She had an evening class later, but that wasn’t for another five hours or so. They were talking about going home since she could easily come back before her next class but she quickly rejected the idea, mentioning she didn’t want to get too relaxed at home and forget to come back. It happened once before already!

Jeonghan and their other friends were currently at class or their classes were starting soon, so they weren’t around at the moment. They safely assumed they’d be the only ones at the cafe until loud voices and laughter entered the building. Sure there were the occasional loud students who’d pass by, but these voices were familiar… to Won Woo, that is.

Won Woo ducked his head down to avoid any eye contact with the four heading to the area as Soo Min grew confused at his sudden behavior. When she heard a name mentioned by the noisy bunch, she instantly realized why. It was Mingyu and his friends.

Immediately she ducked her head down as well, positioning her opened(not running) laptop in front of them to hide behind as Mingyu and his other three friends passed by their table, successfully not noticing them just yet.

“What do we do?” Soo Min whispered to Won Woo who looked at her with a clueless expression.

“I don’t know…”

“Oh wow, well aren’t you two just so obvious?” They heard one of the friends say, judging by the sound of his voice, he was standing in front of their table. The two slowly peeked over from behind Soo Min’s laptop to see Seungkwan standing there with a smirk on his face, Soonyoung and Seokmin on either side of him while Mingyu was currently ordering food at the register, oblivious that his friends were causing trouble again.

“Oh my god, they’re so cute!” Soonyoung gushed when the two peeked from behind the computer, Seokmin laughed at his friend's weakness for cute things and Seungkwan turned to look at the blonde with a judging face.

“Are you serious?” He asked, a slight hint of annoyance in his tone.

“Very serious!” Soonyoung laughed.

“Don’t mind him,” Seokmin spoke up, his words directed to Won Woo and Soo Min who were still peeking from behind the computer, “he’s anti-cuteness.” He added, referring to their leader.

“That makes no sense!” Seungkwan complained.

“Does it have to?”

“Oh my god…” Soonyoung said again, looking like he was about to explode. “Make it stop! Make it stop!” He turned away covering his eyes.

“You two are the worst sidekicks ever!” Seungkwan hit both of them in irritation.

The WooMin duo slowly ducked back behind the laptop screen causing Seokmin to laugh as Seungkwan was too busy hating on Soonyoung.

“You two here by yourselves?” Seokmin asked, walking over while pulling a chair from another table to sit at their table, inviting himself!

“I guess the others had class, huh?” Soonyoung said while pulling a chair up to the table as well, even Seungkwan did the same, pulling and extra chair for Mingyu when they guy ever finds out they were at Won Woo’s table.

“So quiet!” Seungkwan chuckled as WooMin just stared at the three, unsure of what to say. Naturally, Won Woo was the quiet type around strangers, but as for Soo Min… perhaps she was just caught off guard when they invited themselves to their table.

“Oh right, we haven’t met, huh?” Soonyoung smiled at Soo Min. “I’m Soonyoung, but my friends call me Hoshi. That’s Seungkwan but everyone calls him Diva Boo. And he’s Seokmin. I call him Min sometimes.”

“Hello!” Seokmin smiled in greeting.

“I still don’t understand why people call me Diva Boo?!” Seungkwan rolled his eyes before fixing his hair in the reflection of his phone, as if he didn’t check his hair before he left their apartment, arrived to class, left class, in the restroom, on the way to the cafe, and a second before coming to the table!

“I wonder that too…” Soonyoung muttered trying to keep a straight face.

“Uh, hi. Nice to meet you.” Soo Min said, giving a small wave to them and that gained their attention again.

“Hey, you’re really pretty!” Soonyoung suddenly grinned, reaching over to fix a loose strand of hair near her face out of reflex and almost instantly his hand was pushed away by Won Woo who gave him a warning glare. “Oh, I’m sorry! She’s your girlfriend, right?” He said cluelessly!

“No, idiot! She’s Jeonghan’s girlfriend, Jisoo, right?” Seungkwan looked to Soo Min and her expression fell as Won Woo held back a laugh at the wrong name.

“My name is not Jisoo, it’s Soo Min.” She replied.

“There’s still a Soo in there!” Seokmin pointed out, not really helping the situation.

“Really? But I could have sworn I heard him talking about a chick named Jisoo?” Seungkwan looked puzzled for a second, trying to think back on it. Wasn’t Jisoo also a girl name?

“That was his best friend, Hong Jisoo and he’s a guy!” She corrected. “I knew it! I knew something was going on between them!” She shut her laptop down and sat back in her seat with folded arms, pretending to pout because honestly… she may have fangirled a little on the inside when Seungkwan mentioned it.

“So you’re not his girlfriend?” Seokmin asked as Mingyu finally spotted them at their table, quickly rushing over in time to hear his question. Mingyu hadn’t really said much about Won Woo to them because apparently he couldn’t trust them!

“Yah! What are you three doing?!” Mingyu exclaimed, interrupting before Soo Min could answer.

“Hey, glad you could join us!” Seokmin motioned to the seat beside him with that teasing grin plastered across his face.

“Did you order the food?” Soonyoung quickly asked.

“I’m sorry if they were bothering you!” Mingyu ignored the two, giving an apologetic look to WooMin.

“It’s okay.” Won Woo managed to reply. Soo Min seemed a little surprised at his answer, knowing… it was not okay! They basically invited themselves to their table without asking, and weren’t they strangers? But in the end, she remembered how he promised to try harder at socializing, so maybe this was a start.

“C’mon guys, let’s go.” Mingyu said to his friends, motioning for them to get up.

“But why?” Soonyoung frowned. “Aren’t we friends?” He asked, looking to the two. “Ah, I mean… aren’t we mutual friends?”

“We don’t have to leave!” Seungkwan smiled. “We’ll behave.”

“I don’t trust you.” Mingyu blurted out, earning laughter from his other two friends when Seungkwan gave him a shocked expression.

“What did I do?!” He asked, honestly confused… he hadn’t really done any damage yet, it was Seokmin and Soonyoung he can’t trust! “I am innocent!”

“For now.” Mingyu rolled his eyes. Seungkwan gave an offended scoff, looking to his other friends with a hand pressed against his own chest. Here it comes...

“Yah, Kim Mingyu, is that how you really think of me?!” He stood up, his voice going an octave higher, there might have been a small crack in his voice or a squeak and Soo Min couldn’t contain her laughter, Won Woo either! It was like they were watching a comedy skit of some sort…

“Maybe it is.” Mingyu chuckled, WooMin’s laughter contagious. “Look, no need to go all ‘Drama Queen’ on me.”

“Drama Queen?!” Seungkwan’s jaw dropped. “Drama Queen?! I’ll show you a Drama Queen!”

“Now hold it right there!” Soo Min jumped up. “There can only be one Drama Queen in this joint, and that’s me!”

“Oh god…” Won Woo face palmed while shaking his head, he slouched in his seat as if that’d make his second-hand embarrassment go away now that other students in the area where staring at them. They were being too loud!

“Then you can be Queen and I will be King.” Seungkwan flashed an approving smile her way.

“But King is sounds better than Queen!” Soo Min frowned. “I wanna be King!”

“Oh my, I really like her!” Soonyoung clapped excitedly. “Dive Boo and Diva Soo!”

“Is this town really big enough for the both of them, though?” Seokmin asked as Mingyu let out a defeated sigh. He glanced over the same moment Won Woo looked up and they locked eyes for a second.

“I’ll be King and Jeonghan will be my Queen!” Soo Min clasped her hands together, looking up with a dreamy look. With eyes still locked on each other, Mingyu and Won Woo shared a quiet laugh, both were realizing how ridiculous their friends were and they were sharing that in common.

“And Jisoo will be the Queen’s mistress.” Seokmin blurted out, thinking it was funny in his head before he actually said it. Mingyu’s laughing expression quickly turned into a scolding one as he hit Seokmin upside the head for saying something like that, especially in front of her!

“Dare I ask why you said that?” She narrowed her eyes at them.

“Honey, you weren’t supposed to say that!” Soonyoung laughed quietly. “Her shipping JiHan was a secret!”

“You idiots!” Seungkwan exclaimed. “You’re banished from the kingdom!”

“I can’t believe this!” Soo Min fell back into her seat, pulling her beanie down over her face to hide the major embarrassment. Even strangers knew about her shipping her own boyfriend with his best friend now.

“Awh, don’t worry your highness… your fangirl side is really cute!” Soonyoung tried to reassure her.

“It’s true!” Seokmin said in agreement. “We’re all fangirls about something deep inside, no need to be ashamed!”

“They’re right.” Seungkwan was the next to agree. “Don’t be embarrassed, be proud! Be proud that your boyfriend is shippable with anyone!”

“Anyone?!” She asked with wide eyes, she only ever thought about JiHan…

“Yeah, like JeongCheol?”

“Did you hear something just now?” Soo Min asked the other three around him, ignoring Seungkwan.

“Nope.” They shook their heads, also ignoring the guy.

“Yah!” The ignored complained as they all continued to talk, being sure to leave him out of it.

Eventually Seungkwan redeemed himself by saying he shipped SooHan(Soo Min x Jeonghan) more, crises averted. And for a little bit, they all chatted and got to know each other more so they wouldn’t be mutual friends anymore. Despite Mingyu’s friends being a bit loud and obnoxious sometimes, they were behaving pretty well once they started talking. Mingyu was obviously pleased with how things were going.

They were having normal conversations with Soo Min and Won Woo and seeing the comfortable look on the latter’s face was a good sign. He could tell from past encounters that maybe Won Woo wasn’t as outgoing as Soo Min, so it was nice to see him relaxed around his friend, it was definitely better since the last time at the convenience store, the poor guy looked so embarrassed and awkward. He left so quick too!

Mingyu soon found himself watching Won Woo as the other interacted with him. He was amused by the subtle changes in his expression as Soonyoung and Seokmin were telling a funny story about Seungkwan who looked like he was going to strangle the both of them! And finally, when he had enough, the guy threw the trash from their food at them, making WooMin laugh.

It was such a beautiful sight, a beautiful sound to Mingyu’s eyes and ears… Won Woo’s laugh.

In a split second, Mingyu was caught by Won Woo who gave a shy smile before looking back to the others. The tips of his ears had turned slightly red as he had his hands(sweater paws) up against his face in attempts to hide the blush that painted his cheeks when he saw Mingyu staring at him, how handsome he looked doing it… He cursed in his mind, hating how easily embarrassed he got just now and swore he heard Mingyu laugh because of it.

“Hey! Are you guys busy right now?” Soonyoung asked, bringing them back to reality.

“Why?” Seokmin asked for the confused WooMin pair.

“I just thought since we’re having such a great time right now, why don’t we go hang out at our place?! We can watch a movie or something?” Soonyoung beamed excitedly.

“Or karaoke?” Seungkwan suggested.

“That does sound fun! What do you guys say?” Seokmin turned to Won Woo and Soo Min who looked stunned at the sudden invite.

“Oh gosh, why are they so cute?” Soonyoung muttered, bringing his hands up to his face, peeking through his fingers.

“You’re so embarrassing!” Seungkwan nudged him with an annoyed expression.

“You don’t have to.” Mingyu spoke up, noticing how Won Woo was starting to look uncomfortable now.

“No…” Won Woo shook his head before looking to the others. “A movie sounds good.”

“Really?!” Soonyoung looked overjoyed, and now… the rest couldn’t help but feel a little suspicious.

“Well if you’re in agreement, let’s go.” Seokmin smiled.

“Ah, sorry,” Soo Min spoke up with an apologetic smile, “I have class later, so I can’t go.”

“Awh, really?” Mingyu’s friends looked so disappointed, it made her feel guilty. Just then her phone buzzed on the table. Won Woo could see the pop-up screen and it read “Tonight’s class is cancelled” What a timely coincidence.

“What’s that?” Seungkwan asked, being a little too nosy as Soo Min grabbed it to take a look.

“Oh, it’s nothing.” She assured him. “You guys have fun!” She patted Won Woo on the back who immediately snatched her phone out of her hand.

“You liar, that was a message saying your class was just cancelled. You’re coming with us.” He shoved her phone into his front jean pocket.

“Hey! Give me my phone back!” Soo Min complained, not liking how this was turning out. She thought he could go and socialize with them, gain some guy friends for him to chill with… without her.

“Let’s go.” Won Woo turned to the rest before getting up from his seat.

“Won Woo~!” Soo Min grabbed onto his arm when everyone else also got up... “Give it back!”

“Get up.” He shook his head.

Diva Soo in 3 … 2 … 1.

“Oh my gosh!” Seungkwan blurted out when he saw Soo Min on the ground, her hands were gripped around Won Woo’s ankle who was trying to pry her off.

“C’mon Soo Min, you’re embarrassing yourself!” Won Woo warned.

“Give me my phone back!”

“You can’t live without it, is that is?” Won Woo sighed, pulling it out from his pocket.

“What if my Queen texts me?! You’re just aiding the Mistress!”

“She’s really indecisive on that JiHan ship, huh?” Soonyoung muttered, earning a laugh from his friends.

Once Soo Min had her phone back and agreed to go with them since now that she thought about it, she didn’t want to spend the evening alone… she started to pack her things up, Mingyu’s friends helped her as Mingyu stood by Won Woo who may or may not be really nervous.

“Sorry about my friend.” Won Woo mumbled quietly.

“It’s okay, I know how it is.” He laughed. “And I have three of them.”

“I can’t imagine three Soo Mins…” Won Woo suddenly looked terrified at the thought, causing Mingyu to chuckle at his expression. It made Won Woo look up at him and he was greeted with that kind smile.

“I hope you’ll have fun with us today.”

“... I’m sure I will, thanks.” Won Woo found himself smiling back.

“Awh, lover boy’s having a moment with his fiancé!” Soonyoung whispered as they were passing by the two. Won Woo looked away quickly as Mingyu shot him a glare. The blonde only laughed in response before suddenly he was face flat on the floor.

Mingyu tripped him.

“Sorry for the mess…” Mingyu mumbled as he ran around the living room, picking up a few empty pizza boxes from last night’s dinner laying around. There were crushed soda cans and crumpled up napkins tossed around as well. The furniture wasn’t exactly placed properly, probably when the others moved it to make room for their usual night of shenanigans. He always told them to straighten up the place when they’re done but they never listen!

“It’s not even that messy.” Seokmin chuckled as Mingyu passed them to head to the kitchen to get rid of the trash.

“Well if it’s not so messy, help out!” Mingyu quietly scolded, eyeing his roommates as Won Woo and Soo Min were putting their stuff by the front door.

“Already on it!” Soonyoung responded, kicking a cola can around noisily. Seokmin joined him and the two ended up playing a little soccer match to the kitchen.

“Just ignore them.” Seungkwan chuckled towards their guests, second-hand embarrassment on his face as he grabbed a remote from one of the couches. That’s when WooMin started to look around, admiring their well designed apartment. It was a lot bigger than theirs, probably because it was more expensive than theirs.

“Whoa… something tells me we’re hanging with people way out of our league…” Soo Min muttered to Won Woo quietly.

It was impressive, spacious… like they had money oozing out of their pockets, almost literally as Seungkwan reached into his pocket for his phone a few bills fell out in the process. He didn’t even bother to pick it up! WooMin stared at the money on the floor, baffled that someone would just leave it like that. This was almost leaving a bad impression on them as they didn’t think of money as something you could just shrug your shoulders at and not pick it up.

“Yah! Boo Seungkwan, pick up your money before I put it in the saving jar!” Mingyu’s scolding voice entered the living room. He had two water bottles on a small tray as he made his way back over to the couches. The younger boy obeyed, bending down to pick it up before returning to his task.

“Please, have a seat.” He smiled to Won Woo since Soo Min’s attention was grasped by the colorful TV on the wall, Seungkwan was searching something up through an app at the moment, the faint sound of Seokmin and Soonyoung’s cola soccer match was still going on in the kitchen.

“Thanks.” Won Woo took the bottled water from the tray before sitting. “Soo Min…” he called over to her but it was like she was lost in space as she stared at the TV.

“She seems distracted.” Mingyu chuckled at the sight before taking a seat next to Won Woo. “I can assume she’s easily entertained, too?”

“Yes, sometimes… like a kitten.” Won Woo nodded with a small laugh, that beautiful laugh again! Mingyu tried so hard not to stare, turning his attention back to Seungkwan who was looking up songs to probably play. Won Woo was just an interesting character to him was all… of course he didn’t think of him any other way, right? Get it together, Mingyu!

“Yeah, I feel like I live with a sassy cat and two insanely energetic dogs.” He said, looking annoyed every time there was a noise coming from the cola can being kicked around in the kitchen. “Excuse me.” He gave a polite smile before getting up from his seat.

He watched Mingyu enter the kitchen and not even a second later, Soonyoung and Seokmin came running out, joining Seungkwan in front of the TV with nervous laughter. It made Won Woo laugh a bit on the inside, wondering what kind of scary expression the tall guy gave to get them to stop their annoying antics?

Now that they were all in the living room, it was about time they started to have fun!

For the first 40 minutes, Mingyu’s friends went back and forth turning on some songs to karaoke too, WooMin and Mingyu watched them feeling entertained, they were such good singers! At some point a dance competition broke out between the three and it was hard for the other three to contain their laughter because they were dancing to popular girl groups with such serious expressions! Because of that, Won Woo was really having a great time.

Soo Min noticed how relaxed her friend had become since they first got there and she was honestly overjoyed. Now she hoped that Mingyu and his friends would invite him out more, and without her despite she was having a blast too.

Just as she was thinking about that, she felt her phone vibrating in her pocket as Mingyu’s friends were turning up the volume on the TV to dance to a song they had put on, it was like a club now as the music blared on the nice speaker system they had.

“Yah! What about the neighbors!” Mingyu shouted over the music.

“They’re not home right now!” Soonyoung shouted back, dancing away to the beat.

Won Woo was just sitting there with a smile on his face, moving his head to the beat since he liked the tune. Feeling the vibrating continue, Soo Min pulled out her phone to see Jeonghan was calling her and she jumped up from the couch, rushing to the kitchen away from the booming music and answered.

“Yellow?” She answered with a small giggle.

“Purple!”

“Green!”

“Orange!”

“Blue!”

“I love you!” (We’ll just pretend that part was in English :D)

“Awwwwwwww!” She covered to squeal. “Ran out of colors?”

“I could have said red, but I figured I love you was better because it rhymed!”

“It’s not even a color though, you dork!” She laughed.

“Whatever,” he chuckled on the other line, “what are you doing? Still at the campus?”

“No, actually… Mingyu and his friends invited us over to their place to hangout. My evening class was cancelled so I tagged along.”

“Really? Making friends with the convenience store clerk?”

“He’s your classmate too, right?”

“Yeah, Minhyun, right?” He joked.

“Aw, is your memory already failing? What’s my name?” She played along.

“Uh, Jisoo, right?”

“I’m hanging up, you jerk!” She pouted, about to pull her phone away from her ear when she heard him shouting for her not to. “Let me guess, you’re with Soo Min right now, aren’t you?” She asked as if their names were switched around now.

“I’m with Jisoo, but I wish I was with Soo Min… I miss her a lot these days.” He replied cutely.

“Yeah, sure.” She scoffed in a joking tone.

“Really!” He laughed. “It’s about time for dinner, let’s go eat!”

“I don’t know, I’m already here at Mingyu’s place and-”

“I’ll wear my hair down and wear that leather jacket you bought me-”

“Okay! Okay! I’m sure Won Woo will be fine on his own! Where should I meet you?!” Soo Min quickly interrupted him, making him laugh. He knew her weakness all too well.

He mentioned where he wanted to take her and ended the call. Excitedly, Soo Min rushed back out into the living room where the others asked what her excitement was all about. “Sorry! I have to go!” She said before looking to Won Woo. “You should be okay, so have fun! I’ll see you at home!”

“Wait, where are you going?” Won Woo frowned, suddenly feeling nervous about being left behind with these guys. They weren’t exactly strangers anymore but still, he just couldn’t help that feeling he got knowing she wouldn’t be there with him. It’s this feeling that I want to rid myself off the most… that co-dependant feeling.

“I have a hot dinner date with the Queen!” She exclaimed despite Seungkwan paused the music, making them laugh at her shouting. She looked so excited right now.

“You’re ditching us for your boyfriend?” Soonyoung asked as if they were already great friends and he was complaining now.

“You don’t understand! He said he’d wear his hair down and wear that y leather jacket I bought him a while back! I have to go!” She looked like a person who was seriously late to a meeting the way she was looking around for her stuff.

“Then have fun!” Seokmin waved from his seat. “Be careful on your way there.”

“Thanks! Take care of my wingman! Laters!” She waved from the front door before officially leaving.

There was a few seconds of uncomfortable silence for Won Woo as Mingyu and his friends eyes panned back over to him, almost like they were curious on what he’d do next. Luckily, Mingyu broke that silence, asking if they were hungry.

“Let’s get pizza!” Soonyoung chimed.

“We had that last night, pick something else!” Mingyu quickly shot the idea down.

“Take out?” Seungkwan asked. “I’ll pay, so get whatever you want okay, Won Woo?” He flashed a friendly smile his way.

“Sure-” Won Woo said softly before the music suddenly started to play making everyone cringe and cover their ears at the sudden loud volume. Seungkwan’s finger slipped.

“Oooooh, my heart!” Mingyu wailed, eyes closed as he was clutching his chest with both hands. The sight had Won Woo laughing, though the look on his face was a bit sympathetic, poor Mingyu.

The rest of the night passed by fairly quick, Won Woo couldn’t believe it as he was waving goodbye to Seungkwan and the other two at the front door. Mingyu was with him as he had offered to walk him home. That may or may have not made Won Woo nervous, knowing he’s had a small history of embarrassing himself when they’re alone together.

“Did you have fun?” Mingyu asked on the walk to Won Woo’s shared apartment.

“I did, thanks.” Won Woo replied, his hands shoved into his jean pockets as they walked side by side. “I’m sure you’ve noticed by now that… I’m not a very social person.”

“I picked up on it here and there, and Jeonghan told me, too.”

“Yeah, I try not to show it too much, but it’s hard.” Won Woo’s eyes were focused on the ground, watching one foot step after another. “I can’t remember when I started to be like this… feels like it’s been forever. I don’t like it.” Mingyu quietly listened to him, feeling a little glad that Won Woo was comfortable enough to be telling him this right now. It meant they were just a little bit CLOSER since they first met. “Soo Min’s been there with me since we were five, can you believe it?”

“That’s such a long time, I’m impressed. I’m sure there’s a lot of people who’ve had friends since they were children, but I’ve never met any of them personally. It’s interesting to see that kind of friendship.” Mingyu said as they came up to a crosswalk. “In a way, I’m kind of jealous…”

“Really?”

“Sure, I’ve been friends with those idiots since middle school, but… I don’t know what it is, I just really envy your friendship with Soo Min. You two are so close!”

“You really have no idea.” Won Woo chuckled. “Before she met Jeonghan, we made this ridiculous promise to each other…” he was saying until he stopped, realizing maybe he was saying too much right now and too soon.

“What kind of promise?” Mingyu asked, looking pretty interested. “You can tell me.” He added with that kind smile.

“Ah… well,” he stuttered out, “this was back in second year. Around the time everyone around us were hooking up with others and I suppose we were just jealous and bitter. Soo Min had just broken up with an ex boyfriend and no one ever caught my interest at school. One day during lunch, we were watching how many students were actually together. Soo Min had said, let’s make a promise. 20 years from now if we’re both still lonely and single, let’s get married.

“No way! She really said that?” Mingyu blurted out clearly shocked. He had no idea they had that kind of relationship. He supposed they were going to be permanently together forever whether they were friends or husband and wife!

“She did.” Won Woo chuckled at the taller’s expression. “But obviously that promise no longer stands. She has Jeonghan now. I suppose that’s why he gets jealous when I’m around since Soo Min told him about it before. It’s kinda funny because I don’t see her in that way at all… I only see her as the sister I never had. I’m not into relationships. He has nothing to worry about.”

“True…” thinking about it, Mingyu curiously looked his way again, “would you have really gone through with the promise had you both been lonely and single 20 years from now?”

“Not really.” Won Woo shrugged. “But, Soo Min is really special to me since she’s been with me through a lot. In the end, I don’t think I’d mind if we got married since we’re not really siblings, at least I know I wouldn’t die alone later on when I’m 120 years old.” He gave a somewhat depressing laugh. He really wondered if he was going to be lonely for the rest of his life. “I really doubt with the way I am… no one would really want me...”

“That’s not true!” Mingyu said quickly, causing him to look up with a slight surprised look. “You shouldn’t think like that… I’m sure there’s someone out there who wants you just the way you are!”

“Sure.” Won Woo nodded, facing forward with a small scoff, he really doubted it.

“I’m serious!” Mingyu pouted. “You’ll find someone, I’m sure of it… you just have to be patient.”

“In the meantime, I’m crossing.” Won Woo gave a small snicker before walking forward. Mingyu was a little caught off guard by that before rushing to catch up with him halfway through the crosswalk. “You know, you say such nice things… I’m sorry if I was rude.”

“That’s okay.” Mingyu assured him. “I completely understand.”

“Do you?”

“I try to…”

“Then… thanks.” A small smile spread across Won Woo’s lips this time. Mingyu swore it was his favorite thing… whenever he smiled, he looked so cute. “I guess we’re here.” Mingyu snapped out  of it, noticing they were at an apartment complex now. “Thanks for walking me here, and for inviting me over. Maybe we can hang out again soon, if you want?”

“Sure! Of course!” Mingyu’s smile was huge, he looked just as excited as Soo Min when she left for her date earlier!

“Perhaps… do you want to exchange numbers to stay in contact?” Won Woo asked, his voice suddenly softer, he was getting shy!

“That’d be a good idea.” Mingyu nodded, pulling his phone out.

The two quickly punched in each other’s numbers, exchanging friendly smiles while they were at it.

“I’ll go inside now… uh, goodnight. Get home safely.” Won Woo backed up to the entrance door, bumping into the wall when he over calculated how far he was from the door.

“I’ll wait till you’re inside.” Mingyu chuckled, he found it incredibly cute the way the guy looked so embarrassed just now. “Goodnight, Won Woo.”

Won Woo was gone in two seconds, rushing inside with a blush on his cheeks. Mingyu had to wonder how he was still the same person? Regardless, he knew he was growing really fond of him and his adorable clumsy self. After a moment or so, he headed back home, replaying Won Woo’s clumsy moment over and over again in his mind on the way there. The smile on his face never went away.

Once Won Woo made it to his floor, he entered his shared apartment quick and leaned up against the back of the door, letting out and exhausted sigh. It was a pretty eventful day after all.

Taking off his shoes at the door and placing his bag by the wall, he walked in to be greeted with the sight of Jeonghan lying on the couch, Soo Min lying on top of him looking at her boyfriend with that loving look as he was running his fingers through her hair. They were being lovey dovey and it brought a smile to Won Woo’s face. He could see how happy Jeonghan made her and… it might be a little cliché, but when Soo Min is happy, so is Won Woo and vice versa.

He quietly entered the room after the two shared a small kiss, making his way to the kitchen when Soo Min looked up at him. “You’re not going to greet us?” She pouted as Jeonghan tried to look at Won Woo from his position but failed miserably, hurting his neck in the process. Soo Min gave a sympathetic laugh as she placed her hand over his that was rubbing his strained neck.

“You two seemed busy, I didn’t want to interrupt.” Won Woo came over to the couch, looking down at Jeonghan who pouted when he saw that teasing look on his face.

“You know, if I didn’t have 120 pounds of cuteness on me right now, I’d smack that grin off your smug face!” Jeonghan warned, making the WooMin duo laugh.

“No need, I’ll go. As you were.” Won Woo was about to leave, but Soo Min propped herself up, ignoring the small grunt that came out of Jeonghan’s mouth as she called after Won Woo to stop.

“How did things go at Mingyu’s place?!”

“It went fine.” Won Woo looked back at her before continuing to the kitchen.

“Just fine?!” She shouted, more grunting was heard under her as she used her knees to pick herself up, climbing over the couch to head into the kitchen, leaving Jeonghan on the couch holding his stomach in pain.

“Did you just run over your boyfriend to come in here?” Won Woo chuckled as he saw Jeonghan sit up on the couch.

“He’s fine!” She giggled. “So, what happened after I left?!”

“Not much.” Won Woo said, getting something to drink out of the fridge. “They just danced around a lot and I just watched.”

“Just watched?!” She sounded so disappointed in his answer. “Anything else?”

“Nope.”

“I see…” she sighed, looking to the floor.

“Mingyu walked me home, though.”

“He did?!” She looked up at the speed of light, almost falling over.

“Don’t hurt yourself, sheesh!” Won Woo reached out to steady her by the shoulder. “I got his number too, you know… to keep in contact.”

“What?!” Her face lit up like lights on a Christmas tree. “You got his number?! Oh my gosh!”

“Why are you getting all excited, we’re just friends…” Won Woo blushed, avoiding eye contact now.

“That’s what I’m excited about! You’ve gained another friend!” She jumped before grabbing him into a tight hug. “I’m so happy, I could cry!”

“Yah! Let go and don’t cry!” He complained yet made no move to push her away. He’ll admit he was glad that he made progress on his new promise to Soo Min, working on being more social.

“Well,” Jeonghan’s voice said at the kitchen entrance, “I’m going home, if anyone cares?” He added, looking quite jealous at the moment as Soo Min was still giving Won Woo a koala hug.

“Come join us!” Soo Min laughed, beckoning him over.

“No thanks!” Both Won Woo and Jeonghan managed to say at the same time.

“Aish, you two.” She shook her head, letting go of Won Woo before turning to Jeonghan. “Don’t go, stay over!”

“I don’t know, should I?” Jeonghan said, eyeing Won Woo with a teasing grin. He knew how Won Woo didn’t like him staying over, being overprotective of his little wingman sometimes. Last time was an exception because the girl was sick and he looked after her.

“Yes! No need to ask!” Soo Min nodded.

“Well, okay. Though I need to shower, why don’t you join me?” He winked her way, causing her to freeze in her spot, her cheeks flushed a deep red in response.

“Get. Out.” Won Woo glared.

“Aw, c’mo-” Jeonghan was saying before he ducked, Won Woo had thrown a dish towel at him. “Okay! Okay! I get it!” He laughed. “I can’t really stay over, I have errands to run early in the morning.” He explained. “We can shower next time!” He dangerously teased his girlfriend more.

That’s when he noticed Won Woo glance at the frying pan in the dish rack and he was gone in a blink of an eye and out the front door, running down the street all the way back to his apartment like his was on fire.

Oh yes! Today was the first snow of winter! It snowed a lot, but didn’t stick >.> I actually had to go outside and walk to the convenience store down the street to get something… WHILE IT WAS SNOWING! My sister thought it was fun, but I didn’t! When we got back she threw a snowball at me and we had a mini snowball fight. She threw one at my blue cat eared hat and I was like, not cool bro! So when we went to the back of the house, she was taking a picture to send to a friend and I threw on and it hit her in the jaw! She was like...

(Literally the best visual because I have long hair and she has short hair like these two!)

HAHA She was mad! WHOOPS!

Anyway, hope you all enjoyed this chapter! Look forward to future chapters, I have a lot in store! I really hope I don’t disappoint but I’mma do my best! Bye for now!

I hope everyone enjoyed the chapter. I tried to progress things a bit, but I suppose it wasn’t enough DX but I’ll definitely try harder next chapter! XD
