Chapter 16

CLOSER [HIATUS]

“Is he okay?” Mingyu asked when Jeonghan emerged from Won Woo and Chan’s shared tent room. Everyone was currently eating breakfast outside but they were wondering why Jeonghan and Won Woo didn’t join them.

“He’ll be okay. He’s got a bit of a fever, it’s probably from all the excitement. He just needs to rest for a bit. I’m sure he’ll be up and running by noon.” Jeonghan explained to the worried Mingyu.

“I see…” Mingyu couldn’t help but look sad. He didn’t think something like this would happen, but then again, he kind of did. He figured Won Woo must’ve been stressed from being separated from his best friend, given how close they were and would rarely separate. Even if it was a good chance to travel without his wingman, was it really worth the guy getting sick?

“I’ll stay with him until then.” Jeonghan said and gave Mingyu a gentle pat on the shoulder. “I know you were excited to have Won Woo on this trip, but don’t let it ruin your fun with your friends, alright?”

“Right.” Mingyu nodded and felt a tad better once Jeonghan said that. “I’ll trust him with you, hyung.”

“Of course, who else could do it?” Jeonghan chuckled before he saw Mingyu pout.

“I could do it.”

“That’s true. Won Woo does seem more comfortable around you these days.” Jeonghan nodded in agreement. “But don’t worry, I’ll handle it. We’ve been through this before a couple of times, so I’ll have him up and running by noon.”

“You make it sound like he’s a cyborg who need’s repairs!” Mingyu laughed.

“Maybe he is!” The older teased before he turned him around and pushed him out of the tent so they could eat breakfast. He went on to let the others know what was going on. They couldn’t help but look bothered about it, as if they were wanting to say “How can we have fun knowing he’s sick?” Chan assured the rest that Won Woo would be fine if he just rests enough. It was difficult, but everyone understood and went on about their morning activities.

It was hard for Mingyu not to think about Won Woo, but in time he was back to having fun with his friends and Chan and eventually they all headed over to the pond to fish. Jeonghan made sure to let Mingyu know that he’d bring Won Woo over once he was feeling better. Everyone was hoping that would be sooner than later.

“Is she going to be okay?” Jihoon asked with a worried tone after Junhui placed a wet shirt on Soo Min’s forehead to cool down the fever she had. They had to compromise since they didn’t have a hand towel at their convenience.

“She’ll be fine.” Junhui assured him. “She’s probably just stressed, that’s all.”

“She’s really good at that.” Jihoon frowned with a small annoyed expression but it was clear that he was sad about it. He never liked seeing her sick and he started to wonder if Won Woo was the same right now? Would Chan and Jeonghan be enough to keep him calm? He just had to believe so.

“Should we wait on leaving until she’s better?” Seungcheol asked when he checked his phone for the time.

“No, I think it’s okay to move her while she’s resting. At least she can sleep it off in the car ride.” Junhui said before he turned to Jihoon. “You can watch over her while we pack up the tent.”

“Right.” Jihoon nodded. A moment later he was in the backseat of Seungcheol’s car with his best friend’s head resting on his lap. It didn’t seem like taking down the tent would take long. He waited for the other two to return to the car and he muttered things to himself while her hair. He wondered if that gentle touch would make her recover sooner or something silly like that.

“Let’s see if her fever went down yet.” Junhui said when they returned to the car. He thought to re-apply the “cool rag” before they hit the road. “It seems to have gone down a bit.” He stated with a relieved smile.

“Really?” Jihoon asked with slightly wide eyes. He wondered if his gentle touch worked after all? Or it was just a coincidence.

“What is it-” Seungcheol was asking until they saw Jihoon started to her hair at a faster pace while muttering “hurry up!” It was adorable yet sad to watch. He must’ve been so worried for his best friend.

“Be careful.” Junhui chuckled while gesturing for him to slow down. “She should be fine by the time we get to the right campsite.”

“She better, my arm is starting to cramp.” Jihoon pouted and earned a laugh from the older two.

“Hang in there!” Seungcheol said positively before he started his car. They were back on the road moments later.

“Are you awake?” Jeonghan asked when he heard Won Woo shift and let out a small groan from stretching.

“What does it look like?” Won Woo mumbled in a sleepy voice before he sat up and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. “What time is it?”

“Hmm… almost noon.” Jeonghan answered after checking his phone.

“What?!” Won Woo almost shouted and looked around to see it was just them in the room tent. He could already tell they were the only ones in the tent judging by how quiet it was. “Did they go somewhere?” He asked Jeonghan who reached out to place the back of his hand to his forehead.

“Looks like your fever went down. That’s good.” He said with a relieved smile. “They went fishing a little while ago. I told them I’d bring you to them once you were feeling better.”

“Did I miss something?” Won Woo looked completely confused.

“Well, you had a fever this morning. I suppose you were stressed. We let you sleep a bit longer and I stayed behind to make sure you were okay.” Jeonghan explained and that’s when Won Woo noticed the small bowl of water nearby where he must’ve been changing out that small rag frequently to get rid of his fever.

“Damn…”

“I’m glad your fever went away, I was a bit worried there for a second when it didn’t seem to change after an hour.”

“Sorry.” Won Woo apologized. He felt guilty that he was probably hindering everyone else’s fun on this camping trip… especially Jeonghan who was invited because of passing his math test alongside Mingyu. “I didn’t mean to burden you.”

“I know.” Jeonghan assured him. “But it’s okay. I’m glad I came on this trip. I can’t imagine what would have happened if I wasn’t here to take care of you.” His words sounded genuine and it touched Won Woo’s heart a bit. He knew they don’t get along that well but it was nice to hear how the guy truly cared for him despite it all.

“Well, thanks… I appreciate it.” Won Woo managed a small smile.

“No problem! So, do you think you’re ready to go fishing now?”

“I think so.” At the mentioned activity, Won Woo seemed to have more energy and got up to leave the tent room.

“Wait! You should eat first before you go. I don’t want you to collapse from not eating, too!”

“Fine.” Won Woo chuckled at how he sounded like a worried parent again. Maybe because Chan wasn’t around, because Chan grew up too fast.

“Go to the bathrooms nearby and wash up, too.

“I can only do one thing at a time!” Won Woo sighed at the nagging. He was happy to have someone looking out for him other than his wingman. He had to laugh at how Jeonghan really sounded like a mother just now.

“You’re alive!” Jihoon almost exclaimed when he saw Soo Min wake up in his lap. “It’s a miracle!”

“What’s going on?” She asked when she noticed they were in Seungcheol’s car. They were moving, too.

“You got sick like you always do!” Jihoon said in a scolding tone after she sat up and got on her side of the backseat. “Don’t get sick again!”

“Calm down!” Junhui chuckled from the front seat before looking to Soo Min to explain what happened. “You had a fever, it was probably from stress but it seems like you’re better now, so don’t worry about it.”

“Sorry.” She apologized with a small frown and lowered her head. She didn’t think it’d happen again like that. There haven’t been many times when she and Won Woo were separated, and when they were, they’d get stressed easily. It was definitely something they were going to have to work on.

“Don’t worry about it, we understand.” Seungcheol assured her through the rearview mirror. “Hopefully we’ll find the correct campsite this time around.”

“We better!” Jihoon blurted out with a pout on his face with his arms folded across his chest. Soo Min might not be the only one who was missing Won Woo. “What was the point of coming out here if we can’t even find the same camping site they went to?”

“We’ll find it, have a little more faith in me!” Seungcheol whined while looking at the GPS. “We’ll get there, I promise!”

“And if we don’t?” Jihoon pushed.

“I’ll take us home and buy a meal to make up for it!” He pouted.

“I’m getting hungry now.” Soo Min said softly and held her stomach.

“You still have all those Choco Pies in your suitcase.” Junhui pointed out.

“I want real food.” She sighed.

“Be patient!” Seungcheol said nicely before he gripped the steering wheel for the second day in a row. He could see Jihoon laughing at him, but it was too cute to get mad about.

To be honest, even though they got lost and it rained when they slept in their tent, Seungcheol liked this. He was used to being around Jeonghan and Chan, but this was different now that he was hanging around Soo Min, Jihoon and Junhui. It was a nice change and he felt like this was bringing their bond as friends a bit CLOSER.

“Are we there yet?” Soo Min blurted out and giggled when she literally saw his eye twitch in the rearview mirror. “Are we-” she was smacked in the mouth by Jihoon. “Ow!”

“Seungcheol may be your target but that doesn’t mean you aren’t annoying us too!” Jihoon scolded. “Control yourself, woman!” That had them all laughing in the end.

“If you eat too fast you’ll get a stomach ache.” Jeonghan warned when Won Woo was nearly done with his food. Mother Hen had the food ready by then time Won Woo was done washing up in the bathrooms.

“I wasn’t eating it that fast though, you’re just slow when you eat!” Won Woo snickered and took a drink of water before continuing. “It’s not like it was a big portion either.”

“That’s why you should slow down and savor it. Trick your brain into thinking you’re eating more than what’s on the plate.” Jeonghan said with a grin.

“That or you don’t want to go fishing?” Won Woo raised a brow.

“It’s not like that!” Jeonghan gave a nervous laugh, but he was caught when Won Woo just gave him that knowing look. “Fine, if I have to be honest, I don’t want to go fishing!”

“That’s okay, you can stay here. Just point me in the right direction.” Won Woo shrugged.

“Yah!” Jeonghan pouted. “Aren’t you even going to ask me why?”

“I figured the activity is too gross and dirty for a Queen like yourself.” Won Woo chuckled at the older’s offended expression. “Did I hit the jackpot?”

“Yeah…” he mumbled. “And it’s dangerous! I’ve seen people get those fishing hooks caught on their fingers or other people’s faces! I heard you can’t just pull it out, you have to make it go through and through just to get it out without ripping your flesh off!”

“... you seriously overthink a lot of things, hyung.” Won Woo simply shook his head. “I doubt anything like that will happen to you, relax. As long as you pay attention to where you’re standing, you’ll be fine!”

“No!” Jeonghan protested.

“Whatever, just tell me where they went.” Won Woo rolled his eyes before getting up from his seat. He was done eating now. “You can stay here and catch sunrays while the rest of us catch fish.”

“Wow.” Jeonghan snickered, he felt kind of hurt how Won Woo just dismissed him like that. “Maybe I don’t want to tell you where they went.” He folded his arms across his chest.

“Fine, I’ll find them on my own. How hard can that be?” Won Woo said before heading off in the opposite direction of where Jeonghan saw Mingyu and the others go off to. The stubborn Queen just remained quiet and let Won Woo go off on his own. He figured it wouldn’t be that hard for him to find their camping tent later. Though, he couldn’t help but get a bad feeling in his gut after Won Woo finally disappeared out of sight.

“Damn it.” Jeonghan got up moments later and went after Won Woo. “You’re going the wrong way.” He said once he caught up to him.

“Maybe you should have told me which way to go in the first place.” Won Woo said with annoyance laced in his tone. “Which way now?”

“This way.” Jeonghan pointed but suddenly frowned. “No, wait… I think it was this way.” He pointed in another direction.

“... we’re lost now, aren’t we?” Won Woo deadpanned and let out a frustrated sigh before he tried to think back on which way he had been walking. The path they took was made of gravel, so it was hard to see where they had been walking. “.”

“We’re lost. Again.” Jihoon groaned as his small group were walking around. They had parked in an empty spot and figured they’d have to walk the rest of the way in. Seungcheol was a bit nervous about leaving his car unattended like that even if it was locked, but there were two other cars parked there, so he figured it had to be a parking zone, right?

“The map shows there’s a pond before the campsite.” Seungcheol explained over his shoulder.

“Oh! Maybe I can take a picture for a background!” Soo Min said with some excitement before pulling out her camera from the side pocket of her backpack she brought to hold her electronics.

“I wonder if Mingyu and the others thought about fishing?” Junhui wondered out loud just as they another path. “We didn’t bring any fishing poles… bummer.” He pouted.

“There’s always next time.” Seungcheol chuckled.

“I think I see the pond!” Soo Min suddenly blurted out and started to run ahead.

“Careful!” Junhui sprinted after her, the ground seemed pretty unleveled where they were at, he didn’t want her rolling her ankle or anything.

“It looks like there’s people.” Jihoon commented as they got CLOSER. Once they were close enough, those people started to look familiar!

“Noona?!” Chan called out with a look of shock. That caught the others attention and they all stopped what they were doing to come over and great the small group of four. “What are you doing here?!”

“I kind of changed my mind.” She gave a sheepish laugh when she locked eyes with Mingyu. “I thought it’d be fun to tag along after all.”

“The more the merrier!” Soonyoung blurted out with arms open wide. “When did you all leave? This morning?” He asked curiously.

“Yesterday.” Jihoon answered. “About three hours after you guys left.”

“What? And you just got here now?” Seungkwan was beyond confused!

“We sort of got lost yesterday and ended up at the wrong campsite.” Seungcheol explained with an embarrassed chuckle. “We had to set up the tent and slept there last night in the rain, but we got up early and got back on the road so we could get here before nightfall again.”

“It rained?” Hansol asked before he looked up the sky. The rest also did the same.

“It was probably isolated showers. It came and left quickly.” Junhui pointed out. “Hopefully it’s not coming this way.” And just on cue, there was a low rumble in the distance. “I guess I jinxed it. Sorry.” He gave an apologetic laugh and Jihoon smacked him on the arm.

“The weather shouldn’t be a problem with the tent we set up.” Seokmin assured them. “And there’s plenty of room for you four to join!”

“Is it one of those ten person tents?” Jihoon expression lightened up. When they nodded to confirm it, he asked if he could go see it!

“By the way, where’s Jeonghan and Won Woo?” Seungcheol asked once the others agreed maybe they should wrap up their fishing activity before the rain starts to kick in. They could always fish again later if the storm passes quickly like Junhui mentioned.

“It seemed like Won Woo wasn’t feeling well this morning, so Jeonghan stayed behind to look after him.” Mingyu explained while his friends were ahead of them chatting with Chan and Junhui.

“Oh no!” Soo Min looked upset. “I knew I should have come along in the first place!”

“It’s okay.” Seungcheol placed a hand on her shoulder.

“She got sick as well.” Jihoon blurted out and Mingyu seemed fascinated by that. He supposed the WooMin duo’s bond was stronger than he thought. “But once Yin and Yang are back together there should be no problems.” He added.

“Right!” Mingyu nodded with a cute smile. He really didn’t want Won Woo to be sick for the rest of this trip and like Soonyoung said, the more the merrier!

When they arrived back to the enormous tent, Jihoon just stood there and gawked at it. “This is insane.” He muttered.

“We have a problem!” Suddenly Chan popped out of the opening with a worried expression on his face. “Jeonghan-hyung and Won Woo-hyung aren’t inside!”

“Really?” Seungkwan asked before going inside to double check. “They’re gone.” He frowned when he came back outside.

“Maybe they left to the bathrooms?” Seokmin pointed out to the small building out in the distance.

“Someone should go check! I’ll go!” Soo Min was about to run off but Jihoon caught her by the back of her jacket.

“You can’t go in there!” He scolded and the others laughed at her pouting. They knew she wasn’t trying to be a ert.

“I’ll go.” Hansol volunteered and started to run off.

While they waited, the storm sounded like it was getting close by each minute that passed. When Hansol came back with a small frown and a shake of his head, the atmosphere started to get serious. “Maybe they went to the convenience store nearby?” Seungkwan remembered Won Woo had gone there yesterday to get the ice for the cooler. “We’ll go look,” he pointed to himself, Hansol, Soonyoung and Seokmin before pointing to the rest, “you guys stay here just incase they come back or something.”

“Got it.” Mingyu nodded before he turned to Soo Min and the others. “I’m sure they’re fine.” He tried to give a positive smile.

“Right.” Seungcheol joined him. “Maybe they went for a walk?”

“Or maybe they got lost like we did.” Jihoon muttered and was subconsciously clinging onto Soo Min’s left arm like a scared child.

“Or maybe they’re trying to prank us!” Soo Min forced a laugh. “Friends do that all the time, right?” She looked to Mingyu for confirmation and he just looked at her, unsure of how to respond to that. He wanted to say yes, but his friends never pranked him like this before. They never used something like getting lost or missing as a prank.

When Seungkwan and the others got back, it started to rain after they told them Won Woo and Jeonghan weren’t at the convenience store. Once they were inside the tent they started to really worry now that it was raining. “Where could they be?” Chan asked and they all looked outside the tent and watched the rain fall.

“Never thought I’d be lost in the woods stranded in the rain with the likes of you.” Won Woo muttered quietly with a small shiver. He was hugging his knees close to his chest and was sitting next to Jeonghan under a tree that had a series of branches blocking most of the rain out. They were still getting rained on but not as much as when they were searching for shelter. They were almost soaked now.

Jeonghan snickered at Won Woo’s comment and rolled his eyes. He couldn’t believe Won Woo was saying such a thing in a situation like this. “Maybe it’ll stop soon.” He said quietly to be positive. When he noticed Won Woo shiver again, he took off the jacket he was wearing and tried to put it over Won Woo’s shoulders but Won Woo pushed it away.

“No, it’s not going to make a difference.” He said bluntly despite he did think it might make a bit of a difference. He was going to take a jacket with him earlier but it slipped his mind.

“It’s better than having your arms exposed.” Jeonghan sighed and tried to place it on his shoulders again, but he was rejected a second time.

“It’s your fault that we’re lost, I don’t want help from you.” Won Woo said bitterly and something in Jeonghan broke a bit. He felt terrible now. He’s right, I should have just told him which way Mingyu and they others went earlier. He regretted being so petty in the first place, even though he did try to stop him and tell him where to go anyway. He should have known this was what Won Woo was like when he’s angry and stressed, he shouldn’t take it to heart, but he did. “Seriously, you get us lost and now you’re playing hurt?” Won Woo’s words snapped him out of it.

Jeonghan hadn’t noticed a tear had fell down his own cheek. He looked away so he could collect himself. He wasn't sure why he was being so emotional about it? Perhaps it was because he felt bad for Won Woo. He knew originally Won Woo would have said no to coming onto this camping trip because he probably wasn't ready to socialize this much with their new friends just yet. He and Soo Min probably pushed him a bit too much and now what should have been a fun experience turned into a bad one with them getting separated from the others and lost in the rain.

There was nothing Jeonghan hated more than pushing someone to do something they don't want, let alone, upset them. He always tried to help people and tried to make them happy, but obviously Won Woo wasn't happy at all in this unfortunate situation. It was clear.

“I bet you expect me to say I regret coming after you, but I don’t. You’d be out here by yourself if I didn’t follow you.” Jeonghan said calmly after a moment. “Even though you pissed me off with your attitude earlier, I was still worried about you.” He added and prepared to place his jacket on Won Woo’s shoulders again. “Even now, you’re being such an but I’m still worried about you catching a damn cold. So just shut up and take the jacket!” He said sternly and successfully put his jacket over Won Woo’s slightly shivering shoulders. “Once the rain stops, we’ll find our way back, so until then, stop being an .”

Won Woo just stared at him in response. He was kind of surprised at that reaction just now. He didn’t think Jeonghan was that upset with him and it started to make him think back on what he said earlier, when did it start? I didn’t think I was being mean. He frowned while he watched Jeonghan watch the rain fall with frown on his face as well. He called me an … he was worried now. Naturally, he can’t tell what he’s like when he’s angry, unless it was recorded and he watched it afterwards. He doesn’t usually get mad that often, so when he is, he doesn’t really notice his own behavior and it seemed like no one ever said anything about it either.

“I’m sorry.” He managed to say when the rain started to die down. How could he treat the person who helped him fall asleep last night, who helped take care of him when he had a fever earlier, who even gave up his own jacket to keep him warm despite they were already soaked from the rain… how could he treat Jeonghan like that when all he was doing was being there for him and caring for him?

He agreed he was being an in the end. How can I treat Soo Min’s boyfriend like that? He felt so guilty now. He was being such an to his best friend’s boyfriend, someone whom she really loved and cared for. “I’m sorry, Jeonghan.” Won Woo said again and nudged the older to get his attention.

“It’s fine.” Jeonghan turned and gave him a weak smile. “I know we’re in a stressful situation, but try to be a little more positive, okay?”

“Okay. Thanks.” Won Woo nodded and opened up the jacket to share with him after he saw Jeonghan shiver just a bit. “You’ll catch a cold too…” he said before he wrapped his arm around him so they could share the jacket. Jeonghan didn’t expect that and just smiled. He was happy to see Won Woo opening up to him a bit, literally. Even though not many words were said, it felt like their bond became a little CLOSER after this.

Instead of messing around and joking about cuddling close to him, he just kept quiet and made sure to keep a decent amount of space between them. He knew Won Woo wasn't big on skinship, neither was Soo Min until Jeonghan started dating her.

Hugging and handholding seemed common and familiar to her at first, but the more Jeonghan started to cling onto her whenever they went on a date or spent time together, it would annoy her. She would reject him a lot until he toned it down and she started to miss that affection. The memories made him quietly laugh since he imagined the same thing happening to Won Woo and his future lover. That caught Won Woo’s attention.

“What's so funny?” He asked with a small frown.

“Nothing. I'm just amused that you're letting me be this close to you. I know how you like your personal space.”

“Shut up.” Won Woo started to pout. “I still don't understand how you were able to get near Soo Min in the first place…”

“It took time, of course, maybe once you find a lover you'll understand.” Jeonghan grinned and Won Woo scowled before turning away. They remained like that for a short while until the rain had died down enough for them to start looking for their path back.

“Are you sure? Seungcheol and I can go, you should stay inside.” Junhui said in hopes to get Soo Min to change her mind about leaving with Mingyu to search for Won Woo and Jeonghan.

“No, I want to go! It’ll be fine, don’t worry.” She assured him and the others who were clearly worried. They thought they all should go, but it was probably better to go one pair at a time. There was a plan set in motion. If Soo Min and Mingyu didn’t return within an hour, Seungcheol and Junhui would go in and follow the trail they’d leave behind. If they all went and got lost, that wouldn’t help in the slightest!

“Hopefully you find them on the first try!” Soonyoung said with a look of hope in his expression.

“We will, don’t worry!” Mingyu said positively. “Just be patient!”

After they got everything they needed to head out, Mingyu and Soo Min were on their way to start their small search. “I have a feeling they went this way.” Soo Min said while pointing in the direction they actually went in.

“You’re so close with the two, I should trust your instincts!” Mingyu chuckled and that made her giggle.

“That makes me feel a lot better!” She said before they started walking in that direction. Mingyu told her to walk while he marks the trees for them to backtrack later. Since he was taller and had longer legs, it wouldn’t take long for him to catch up with her.

“So… if you don’t mind, what made you really want to come on this camping trip after all?” Mingyu asked after a few minutes into their walk.

“Well, I was talking to Jihoon shortly after you all left. I supposed he could tell I really did want to go so he told me I should come. As long as I got back before Sunday evening I should still have time to finish my assignments… and besides,” she pulled out her camera, “I could use extra photos of some nature for my future projects!”

“That’s true.” Mingyu chuckled at that. He figured she’d have a good reason after all that didn’t only rely on Won Woo. “But are you sure you want to be taking photos in this kind of weather? It’s not exactly… nice out here.”

“What do you mean? It’s perfect out here! It’s perfect for a spooky concept~!” She hummed with a bright expression, it confused Mingyu for a second. He didn’t expect her to like something like that… he supposed he didn’t know her or Won Woo, let alone Jeonghan that well yet. I should try to get to know them better. Suddenly he felt her crash into him and scream!

“What is it?!” He almost shouted back.

“I stepped on a stick and it snapped. I almost had a heart attack!” She whined with her small hands clutching tight onto the sleeve of his jacket. Because of their height different, he thought it was adorable.

“If you like spooky concepts, why did you get scared?!” He asked, clearly curious now.

“I actually don’t like scary things in person!” She whimpered, still clung to his side. “I watch scary movies with Won Woo sometimes, but I get nightmares, so Jeonghan told me to stay away from it. But… how can I pass up this opportunity to catch the perfect spooky shots to make a haunted woods poster for my Image Editing class this Halloween?!” With shaky hands, she brought up her camera to take another picture.

Mingyu watched her for a moment and smiled. So he learned something today about his new friends. He knew their friendship was still sort of new and in time he would learn a lot. He shouldn’t rush it. After he noticed she had traveled further while he was thinking, he quickly caught up to her and the continued on their search.

About ten minutes later, Soo Min was taking another photo when she saw two figures walking in the distance and snapped a photo. She stopped and looked at the small LED screen and felt a cold chill run through her body. “I think I caught a pair of ghosts on camera!” She almost shrieked and Mingyu came to her side immediately to look. When they both looked up, they could see the figures still walking towards them and they had gotten CLOSER. “Wait… is that them?” Soo Min asked quietly since she was nervous. She doubted anything bad would happen, but she didn’t want to shout and they turn out to not be friendly characters. They were in the woods after all… it was the perfect setting for a horror film to be honest. The perfect spooky concept.

“It might be.” Mingyu smiled when he could see them more clearly. “Hyung!” He called out and the figures stopped and looked at them. “I’m sure that’s them!” He added and pulled Soo Min along so they could get CLOSER.

“Babe?” Jeonghan asked once they got close enough. He was tackled by his girlfriend and they almost fell over, it happened so fast! Won Woo was about to scold her for being so reckless but he was stopped when he felt someone also tackle him! It was Mingyu.

“We were so worried!” He exclaimed and held Won Woo tight. “I’m so happy we found you!” Won Woo’s mind went blank and his body didn’t reject Mingyu’s hug at all. He was in a state of shock and confusion at the moment. He tackled me? He thought when he finally snapped out of it. “Sorry!” Mingyu apologized and let go of him quickly.

“It’s fine.” Won Woo managed to say before looking over to see the SooHan couple grinning at him. “What are you looking at?” He glared before walking straight. “You two came from this direction, right? Please tell me you were keeping track?” He was too flustered to greet his best friend, but it didn’t matter, greetings were overrated for them after such a long friendship. (Lol)

“We were!” Soo Min assured him. “I wasn’t going to get lost for the third time this weekend!” She added with a sheepish laugh.

“You decided to come anyway?” Won Woo faced her with an annoyed expression but she could see the smile underneath it.

“Yup.” She nodded with a small chuckle.

“You’re so indecisive.” He complained and flicked her on the forehead before gesturing they should head back. At least the rain had let up quite a bit since running into each other. It seemed kind of cliché for the weather to almost stop once the two found one another, like it represented their emotions or something like that.

“I’m glad you two came out to look for us. I wasn’t sure if we were ever going to find our way back.” Jeonghan said with relief when he started walking next to Mingyu to follow after the two.

“I’m glad we found you, though I probably couldn’t have done it without Soo Min. It seemed like she was able to pick the right path after following her gut feeling.” Mingyu explained as they watched the two in front of the walking side by side. Yin and Yang were able to find each other in the end. He thought with a small smile. He really found their bond incredible.

“That’s interesting.” Jeonghan spoke up. “Won Woo suddenly said we should start heading this way after getting a feeling in his gut as well.”

“Jihoon mentioned they were like Yin and Yang.” Mingyu pointed out. Though that was probably not really a good way to describe them, but the point was that they complement one another with their opposite personalities.

“That’s definitely it.” Jeonghan chuckled. “I’m jealous, I wanted to believe it was me she sensed!”

“I’m sure she sensed you, too, hyung! It made that gut feeling 2x more accurate!” Mingyu laughed at the older’s jealousy.

“True. I felt it too.” His expression softened into a sweet smile. “Did you feel anything when you started to walk this way?” He asked curiously. He was obviously hinting at something.

“I don’t know.” Mingyu frowned. “I just know I was worried sick.”

“It’s okay, you found us.” Jeonghan gave him a gentle pat on his back. “Sorry for getting lost! Must’ve ruined everyone’s fun!”

“Things happen, no worries.” Mingyu flashed him a small smile. “Just try not to get lost again, okay?”

“For sure!” Jeonghan let out a weak laugh and faced forward to see Soo Min and Won Woo further ahead of them. They must’ve been talking as well but he and Mingyu stayed behind a bit so they weren’t eavesdropping.

“Jihoon came along, too?” Won Woo asked after Soo Min told him how she arrived only about an hour ago.

“Yeah, Seungcheol and Junhui as well. Jisoo and Minghao still weren’t able to join.” She nodded in reply. “It would have been nice if they could come.”

“Maybe another time.” He said quietly as they kept walking. He was glad to see they marked the trees with some sort of reflector tape. He looked over his shoulder to see Mingyu was taking them off the trees as they passed them for obvious reason, so they weren’t littering.

“There’s real food at their tent, right?” Soo Min asked while holding her stomach. “All I ate last night were the Choco Pies you packed.” She added with a small pout.

“Are you serious?” He frowned.

“We thought we’d be meeting up with you and Mingyu’s group yesterday when we left and didn’t think to pack many snacks.” She explained before she accidentally stumbled a bit.

“Careful!” He reached out and grabbed her arm to help her stand up straight. “What’s wrong, are you dizzy?”

“I'm hungry.” She whined… here came Diva Soo.

“What’s wrong?!” Jeonghan had come rushing over when he saw what happened.

“She’s just hungry.” Won Woo sighed before he looked to see Mingyu pull off some more tape from the trees. He noticed them and hurried over as well. “Maybe someone should carry he-”

“I’ll do it!” Jeonghan immediately offered and it was expected. “You can help Mingyu pull off the rest of the tape.” He added before getting Soo Min to hop onto his back so he could carry her. When she was situated on his back, he started to walk off at a fast pace to create some distance, leaving Won Woo and Mingyu alone! Of course! But instead of playing matchmaker, Jeonghan just wanted Won Woo to spend some more time with their new friend.

“Should have saw that coming.” Won Woo snickered before he and Mingyu started to continue walking. “How many more do you think is left?” He asked and gestured to the tape.

“I didn’t really keep count but I think we’re almost there. I recognize that tree up ahead and I think we saw it five minutes into our search.”

“Okay, good.” Won Woo nodded and they started to walk in silence. He wasn’t sure what to say to Mingyu at the moment and Mingyu felt the same. But they supposed they could talk later and just focused on getting back to their friends.

While they didn’t have much to say, the SooHan couple were talking about their misadventures on this camping trip. Soo Min explained how she and the others got lost yesterday and had to camp at a different campsite, and it even started to rain. She mentioned how worried she was about Won Woo, but the thought of Jeonghan and Chan being there helped ease her mind a bit. That’s when he told her about how he was by Won Woo’s side the entire night and morning… even the afternoon until Mingyu and Soo Min found them. “Did you two bond?” She asked excitedly.

“I guess.” He said in a small voice and despite she couldn’t see his face properly, she could tell he seemed a bit bothered.

“Did something happen?” She frowned.

“It’s fine.” He assured her. “Don’t worry about it. It’s all good now.” That really worried her but she didn’t want to be annoying a pry too much, especially after what he just went through with getting lost and soaked in the rain. Speaking of which, she hadn’t noticed that until now, possibly because she also got soaked a bit while they were searching in the rain and now she wondered if her camera was waterproof or not?! Crap. They didn’t have any umbrellas nor rain ponchos to keep them try and had to make the sacrifice of getting drenched. Now she was praying to the Choco Pie Heavens that her camera was fine.

It grew quiet between the couple but it didn’t last long since they finally made it back to the tent moments later. “They’re back!” They heard Chan exclaim and they all piled out of the tent to greet them. Before they could ask why Jeonghan was carrying Soo Min, Won Woo asked if they could feed the poor girl since she complained about being hungry on the way back. Jihoon apologized for not realizing that sooner, he should have suggested she eat before heading out earlier.

“It’s alright. What matters is we’re all together now!” Seungkwan blurted out in a happy tone. “Let’s work together and make this dinner a memorable one!” Everyone was in agreement and once the rain had finally stopped, they all got to work on preparing the food.

Won Woo, Jihoon and Soo Min were all in a single tent room while the food was being made. Mingyu was the head chef for obvious reasons, and Jeonghan insisted that he helped along with Chan. Seungcheol and Junhui helped Soonyoung, Seokmin and Hansol start the fire with the wood they collected earlier before the rain started. Seungkwan played assistant chef, sous-chef if you must, with prepping most of the food and preparing his homemade kimchi.

If you would like to see how it’s done by a pro, please refer to Episode 3 on Seventeen’s One Fine Day in Jeju to see Seungkwan’s demonstration.... Lol. (Ignore the fact he had to perform CPR on it the next day)

Author-nim: I’m sorry~!

While everyone was busy with their tasks, the trio of friends took some time to catch up with each other and would help clean up later. It seemed overwhelming to them to have so many people around at the moment that they had to corner themselves off for a few minutes.

“You better not catch a cold.” Jihoon scolded after making sure Soo Min and Won Woo were bundled up in some blankets and hoodies to keep warm after being out in the rain. He had also prepared them some hot tea to drink as well.

“Relax.” Won Woo chuckled. He found Jihoon’s expression quite adorable when he was worried about his friends. They didn’t see it too often in the first place.

“Once we eat and get a good rest we won’t have to worry about it!” Soo Min said happily while going through her photos within the warmth of her small cocoon. Her camera had made it through the weather, thank the Choco Pie Gods. She got so many good shots, she was glad she came after Won Woo and the others despite the unfortunate mixup on directions and the bad weather.

“You were taking pictures?” Won Woo asked when he noticed she was distracted by something. She must’ve been a little too distracted since Jihoon had to answer for her.

“She missed you like crazy after you were gone.” He blurted out. “She had a hard time deciding if she should really come after you or not and I suggested she should. Then she had the bright idea that she could take some nature shots for projects later so it was a win/win kind of deal. She got to come on the trip after all and also get some homework done.”

“She couldn’t have thought about it sooner… as in, right before we left?!” Won Woo pouted, but in the end he was glad she decided to join, even though it was a day later. “And she dragged you along?” He snickered at that question.

“Pretty much, though, when I heard you went camping I did think it would be fun so I’m okay with it.” Jihoon said with a small smile. “This is our first camping trip.” He pointed out.

“It is.” Won Woo also smiled and they looked to Soo Min who was still glued to her camera’s LED screen. “Hey, we’re having a trio moment here.” He nudged her and she looked up almost startled.

“Want to take a picture?!” She almost shouted.

“Don’t be so loud!” They scolded her but nodded their head in agreement. “I’ll take it since both of you have short arms.” Won Woo teased and the younger two pouted at that. “Ready? On the count of three say to have short arms! One. Two. Three!”

“Everyone loves small things!” Jihoon and Soo Min chorused and Won Woo scowled after the photo was taken. He tossed her camera back to her and claimed he wasn’t going to take anymore photos with them. Soo Min took a photo of his grumpy face and it ended with Jihoon trying to stop the two from wrestling for her camera.

As far as the continuation I think it would be ok since you will be updating a few months from now. Right now it would seem a little weird, but I don't think it will be bad later. Go with your heart though.
