Chapter 15

CLOSER [HIATUS]

“How are you feeling?” Mingyu asked when he and Won Woo were stretching behind the van while they were at a pit stop to fill up on gas and get snacks or use the bathroom. The rest were inside getting snacks while these two were taking a moment to stretch and talk alone.

“I’m good.” Won Woo said with a small smile. “I almost wasn’t going to come because I just felt so nervous, but I’m glad things turned out just fine. It’s just all in my head, really.”

“That’s good, I’m glad you’re feeling better about it now.”

“I suppose another reason why I was a bit sad that Soo Min didn’t come along was because this would have been our first camping trip.”

“Your first?” Mingyu’s eyes went wide. “You should have told me!” He added with a small frown. “We could have arranged to go another time so everyone could make it!”

“Sorry, I didn’t really think about it until we left.” Won Woo gave a small laugh. “But it’s fine. There’s always another time. I’m fine with my first being with you.” He added before he paused and his cheeks started to turn pink. “That sounded weird.” He gave an awkward laugh.

“What was so weird about that?” Mingyu laughed. “I understood what you meant!”

“Does anyone else need the bathroom before we leave?!” Soonyoung announced after coming back to the van with some snacks he bought from inside the gas station. Jeonghan and the others were following close behind him.

“Me.” Won Woo blurted out before rushing off and left Mingyu standing there with a cute grin on his face.

“What happened there?” Jeonghan asked when he noticed that.

“It’s nothing.” Mingyu assured him.

“Are you sure? He seemed flustered.”

“Don’t worry about it, hyung.” Mingyu gave him a pat on his back before heading in to buy some snacks. He figured to wait for a moment to ask if Won Woo wanted anything when he exits the bathroom.

He started to remember about Tuesday night, when Won Woo had mentioned that he had been feeling strange feelings, that he was possibly experiencing falling in love. It seemed obvious to Mingyu who the older was falling in love with but he didn’t want to assume and get ahead of himself. Though, he definitely had a feeling it was him who Won Woo was falling in love with. There was just no denying that the guy looked a lot happier when they were together.

Even if it isn’t me who you love, I’ll be happy as long as you’re happy. He thought to himself while he stared at the small bag of chips in his hands. They were the same kind of chips Won Woo bought that night as well and last night. “Are you going to buy it?” He suddenly heard Won Woo’s voice snap him out of it.

“Yeah!” Mingyu nodded before heading to the register. “Oh… I forgot my wallet in the van.” He frowned and was about to tell the clerk to wait a moment but Won Woo had put down the owed amount on the counter.

“I got it.” Won Woo assured him with a cute smile.

“T-Thanks.” Mingyu accidentally stuttered. He was swooned just now by that small gesture and it made Won Woo laugh when Mingyu looked like he was zoning out again.

“Let’s go.” Won Woo gave him a small nudge when he passed him to leave with the paid items.

“I’m sorry, we sold the last tent you wanted to another group of friends earlier this morning. We won’t have any back in stock till next week.” The young male clerk informed Seungcheol and his small group of friends. They had made it to the store but were disappointed with the outcome.

“Darn.” Soo Min frowned and dropped her head. She looked so sad and it was enough that the male clerk cleared his throat and mentioned that he’d look for something close to what they wanted.

“I guess everyone planned to go camping this weekend.” Junhui pointed out with a small chuckle. “I heard some other students at campus were planning on it, too.”

“Well, it does seem like the perfect time to go. It’s not too hot and not too cold.” Seungcheol said and looked around while they were waiting for the clerk to come back.

“Do you think he would have gone through the trouble of finding us another tent if Soo Min wasn’t with us?” Jihoon blurted out with a judging look. He could tell that clerk had been eyeing her the moment they got there and it really bothered him.

“Probably not.” Junhui chuckled. “Wanna check?” He asked when he noticed the clerk coming back. He proceeded to put his arm around Soo Min and brought her close to his side to leave the impression they were together. She went with it since it happened often. Her friends would ward off unwanted attention if Jeonghan wasn’t there to do it.

“I’ve found a tent that’s half the size of what you wanted.” He explained while showing the ad to Seungcheol. That’s when he noticed Junhui and Soo Min. “That’s all I can do for you today. Good luck on finding the tent you want.” All of the guys could sense that dejected tone in his comment while Soo Min couldn’t. Even if she couldn’t hear it, she didn’t understand why he left so suddenly!

“I knew it!” Junhui snickered after taking his arm off of Soo Min’s shoulder. “Let’s get a female clerk, I bet she’ll be willing to go far and beyond with me around!” He said confidently.

“Are you all finding everything okay today?” Perfect timing. A female clerk had approached them.

“We were needing a tent that can fit more than five people.” Jihoon explained.

“Of course, I’ll look for one right away!” The girl smiled brightly before rushing off to the back.

“I guess we didn’t really need you.” Seungcheol teased.

“Whatever!” Junhui pouted and the other two laughed at his deflating ego.

...

“We’re here!” Soonyoung announced once they arrived to the camping site. “We have about three hours to set up the tent before it gets too dark, so let’s get started! We’ll need everyone’s cooperation since it is a big tent!”

“Understood!” Seungkwan shouted before he looked back to the others. “You heard him, move move move!”

“Babe, tone it down.” Hansol laughed after unbuckling their seatbelts.

“Okay Chan, listen to the adults.” Jeonghan said in a motherly tone and unbuckled their seatbelts too.

“Yes, hyung.” Chan sighed, he sounded 100% done with Jeonghan’s parent role and it made both Won Woo and Mingyu laugh behind them.

“Don’t worry too much about helping.” Mingyu assured Won Woo who had started to look nervous after Soonyoung made that comment. “You can help with the smaller things.”

“Okay, thanks.” Won Woo felt a little more relieved now and they got out of the van to join the rest.

While Jeonghan, Chan, Soonyoung, Seokmin, Hansol and Mingyu helped each other organize the set up for the tent, it left Seungkwan and Won Woo by themselves to watch. It was quiet for the most part, but after a few minutes Seungkwan decided to start a conversation with him. “Having fun yet?”

Won Woo just looked at him before giving an awkward laugh. “Yeah, I guess.”

“What?” The younger pouted at that reply. “Did I say something funny?”

“No.” He quickly shook his head before he glanced back to the others. He was getting nervous now. Already his conversation with Seungkwan wasn't going that well. It seemed Seungkwan noticed and decided maybe he shouldn't say much more if Won Woo didn't know how to reply to it. He hoped in time he could have a longer conversation with him in the future. “Uh, I think I'll go see about getting some ice for the cooler.” Won Woo finally broke the silence between them.

“Sure, that's a great idea!” Seungkwan smiled and it seemed to make Won Woo feel better. “I'll open up the packages of water so they're ready when you get back with the ice.” Won Woo nodded to that and was on his way to the campsites mini convenience store.

He didn't think there would be one out here but he supposed times were changing and camping was different now. He supposed it was good since they were in need of some ice and didn't bring any. I wonder what else they sell here? He thought while.going through the aisles.

When he reached the end he noticed something. “Yah, did you end up coming out here anyway?” He snickered and turned the person with long black hair around to discover it wasn't his best friend he thought he saw. “Oh, sorry, I thought you were someone else.” He apologized quickly to the beautiful guy. He had been bent over a little to look at something and that's when Won Woo mistook him as someone he knew.

“It's okay, don't worry about it.” The guy assured him with a kind smile. Won Woo couldn't help but find this stranger a bit familiar. He kind of reminds me of Soo Min? Or is it just the hair?

When Won Woo finally snapped out of it, the stranger was gone. “That was interesting.” He muttered to himself before he resumed his task on getting the ice.

...

“We still didn't get the tent we wanted.” Soo Min pouted in the back seat of Seungcheol’s car.

“We’ll just have to make do with what we have.” Seungcheol said positively while driving. They were on their way to the campsite Won Woo left information on.

“If we have to, we'll sleep in the car.” Junhui pointed out. “But I'm sure we can have the tents up in time before the sun sets.” He added with a small grimace. By the time they get there the sun would be setting.

“We're screwed, aren't we?” Jihoon asked from his seat, he was gazing out the window.

“Let's think positive!” Seungcheol said with a worried laugh. “Like Jun said, if we have to, we'll sleep in the car!”

“This doesn't sound so exciting anymore!” Soo Min whined and folded her arms across her chest.

“Relax.” He assured her. “Why don't we do something to pass time? Like a game or something? Have you played ‘I spy with my little eye’ before?”

“I spy with my little eye, not a fun time up ahead.” Soo Min said with another pout. There was a bit of traffic and that only meant one thing… they weren't going to make it before the sun sets. “Day 1, and we haven’t made it to the campsite yet.” She suddenly said and they looked to see her talking to her phone, like she was vlogging. “The sun will set pretty soon and we’ll soon get hungry. I only brought one water bottle and ten boxes of Choco Pies.”

“Ten?!” Seungcheol and Junhui blurted out while Jihoon just snickered.

“Yeah, Won Woo is really good at packing!” She laughed and turned her phone towards them, it wasn’t recording at all and their expressions were enough to increase her laughter. She sat back in her seat and proceeded to browse on it while they waited. They still got service where they were but they knew later on they wouldn’t.

“Don’t use up your phone battery for nothing.” Jihoon nudged her arm. “Did you even bring a portable charger?”

“... no.” She pouted and turned off the apps she was using and put her phone away like suggested. “Not like I was going to use it at the campsite.”

“Still, it’s better than your phone dying while we’re away from the city.” He pointed out. “I brought three portable chargers, so don’t worry.”

“Then we have nothing to worry about!” Junhui grinned as he was also browsing on his phone, Seungcheol was too, they weren’t moving in the traffic so it was fine for the moment.

“I’m not letting anyone who stupidly drained their phone battery use my chargers.” Jihoon warned. The two in the front looked at each other before quietly putting their phones away.

“This is going to be a boring trip, that’s for sure.” Junhui sighed and let his head rest against the passenger side window. “No phone service, no netflix…”

“Are you saying our company is boring?!” Soo Min pouted and folded her arms. “I didn’t think you were that kind of person!”

“I’m not. Sorry… I was kidding.” He gave a weak laugh but he was disappointed in himself for that. He didn’t think he was that kind of person, either. “Maybe once we get there it’ll be more fun.”

“It will be.” Seungcheol assured him with a smile. “I’ve been camping a few times with Jeonghan and Chan, I’ll make sure you three have fun!” He added with a bright smile towards the two in the backseat. That seemed to brighten the mood and soon enough the traffic started to move again. Being stuck in traffic would make anyone moody or negative about things, so it was understandable that they thought this experience wasn’t going to be fun if they had to show up to the campsite super late and sleep in the car! Hopefully that wouldn’t be the case tonight.

...

About thirty minutes later, Mingyu and the others finally took a quick break and had half of the tent set up. Since there were six helping hands it was going a lot faster than with only two helping hands.

“I never set up a tent that huge before!” Jeonghan muttered when he and Chan returned to Won Woo who handed them two cold bottles of water from the cooler he was sitting next to by the van. “Why did it have to be so big?!”

“Hyung, you can relax, I'll help them do the rest.” Chan said with a look of worry, it was cute and the older cooed.

“It's okay, I can finish helping, just needed a small break!” Jeonghan assured him before looking to Won Woo. “What about you? Having fun handing out the water?” Won Woo just glared at him. “I didn't mean it in a rude way, sheesh!” He laughed.

“Thanks for going out and buying ice for the cooler. It's really refreshing to have iced water while working on setting up the tent.” Chan said with a cute smile towards his hyung who ended up returning that same smile.

“No problem.” He said. Just then, Jeonghan grabbed Chan by the wrist and blurted out he needed to show the younger something interesting and dragged him away when Mingyu showed up to the cooler for some water. I hate him so much. Won Woo thought bitterly before pushing those feelings aside and greeted Mingyu.

“Here.” Won Woo said after handing Mingyu a cold bottle of water from the cooler by the van.

“Thanks!” Mingyu gave him a bright smile before accepting it from him. He leaned against the van next to Won Woo and took a few drinks before letting out a fatigued sigh.

“Are you tired?” Won Woo asked and he looked concerned. The sun would be setting soon and they still had to finish the tent.

“I'm fine. Don't worry.”

“Are you sure? You shouldn't over do it.”

“It's okay, thanks for worrying though.” Mingyu flashed him that kind smile and it shut Won Woo up and turned his cheeks pink.

“I can help.” He managed to say after a moment. “Though I'm not sure how helpful I'll really be…”

“A little help can go a long way.” Mingyu pointed out and that seemed to make Won Woo feel a little more confident on helping with the tent.

“Thanks.”

“No problem.”

“Do you need another one?” Won Woo asked when he saw Mingyu finish his water and still looked thirsty. He nodded with a sheepish laugh before Won Woo handed him another cold water bottle to drink. He watched him chug it down like there was no tomorrow. “Easy!” He blurted out and put a hand out to stop him. “You’ll get sick if you chug cold water like that.”

“Sorry.” Mingyu gave a sheepish laugh. “I must’ve been getting dehydrated.”

“Well, stay here and drink some more water. I’ll go in your place.” Won Woo assured him.

“Are you sure?” Mingyu was a bit surprised and worried about it.

“Chan and Jeonghan are there helping, it’ll be fine.” Won Woo gave him a cute smile. “Don’t worry about it or I’ll feel bad.” His smile faltered a bit.

“Okay, then go ahead. Good luck!” Mingyu managed to cheer him on with a cute fist pump. It made Won Woo smile again before he turned and left to join the others. That left the younger to think about the trip so far and how well Won Woo seemed to be doing. He was happy. He had worried it wouldn’t go that well but he was being proven wrong. He knew Won Woo could do it.

“We're sleeping in the car tonight, aren't we?” Soo Min sighed in the backseat with her head against the window to her left.

“Yup.” Both Jihoon and Junhui answered with a bored tone. They had finally got out of the traffic jam after thirty minutes of waiting.

“You guys! Don't be so negative. We might still have time, just have a little more patience.”

“Are we there yet?” Soo Min blurted out. Seungcheol’s eye almost twitched. He was probably going to actually experience that scene in Shrek 2 when Donkey kept annoying his friends by blurting out “are we there yet?” every two seconds. “Are we there yet?” She asked again.

“No.” Seungcheol said nicely but gripped onto the steering wheel. He could see Jihoon snicker in the rear view mirror. He found it cute!

“Are we-”

“Shut up, you asked that 30 seconds ago!” Jihoon smacked her on the arm before she could finish talking.

“All done!” Soonyoung chirped after he and his friends completed setting up the enormous tent.

“It looks so cool!” Chan said with a look of excitement on his face. Jeonghan and Won Woo seemed impressed by it as well. The tent they finished setting up was one of them 10 person tents. Their small party had a total of 8. If only Soo Min and Jihoon were here. Won Woo thought before he heard Mingyu's friends start to claim roommates or tentmates. Lol

The two couples of the group naturally decided to share their tent room with their lover and that was to be expected. That left Won Woo, Mingyu, Jeonghan and Chan. “I'll share with Mingyu. I don't mind.” Jeonghan blurted out and for obvious reasons, Won Woo glared at him. But it wasn't like he was going to openly protest… he'd be too embarrassed to say it in front of everyone else. And it wasn't like he was ready to sleep next to Mingyu yet, either. It would be better if he shared his tent room with Chan. Or he could sleep alone, but he worried he wouldn't be able to sleep well since this was his first time sleeping outside in a tent. If he had someone with him, someone close, then maybe he could manage a few hours of sleep.

“I'll share with you then, hyung!” Chan smiled and snapped Won woo out of it.

“Sounds good.” Won Woo nodded in agreement.

“Then it's decided!” Soonyoung beamed. “Time for dinner!”

When everyone left to the van to gather the food, Mingyu decided to check up on Won Woo. “I don’t want to seem annoying, but I just wanted to check and see how you’re doing?” Mingyu asked with a sheepish laugh.

“It’s fine.” Won Woo smiled. “I’m doing alright. I had fun putting up the tent with them.” He said while gazing at the huge tent. “Never thought they had tents like these…”

“They’re pretty nice.” Mingyu commented with a small chuckle. “Pretty expensive, too.”

“I bet.”

“Well, it’s a ten person tent, I understand why it costs so much but there were only five people in our group so it seems kind of too much. But I guess it served it’s purpose in the end.”

“I guess it did.” Won Woo agreed. “You’re so tall, though, it still works out for you in the end, right?”

“Yah, are you teasing me about my height?!” Mingyu pouted but couldn’t hide the smile that wanted to spread across his lips. He liked seeing this playful Won Woo.

“What if I am?” Won Woo chuckled.

“You average folk are just jealous of us giants.” Mingyu joked. “You really should pick on someone your own size!”

“Agreed. Excuse me.” Won Woo nodded with another laugh before heading over to Jeonghan and Chan. When Mingyu saw Jeonghan give him an annoyed expression, he laughed since Jeonghan was not exactly the same height as Won Woo, he was a bit shorter and it was clear Won Woo had about his height like he did to Mingyu.

Mingyu was glad to see Won Woo was having a good time.

“It's getting dark!” Soo Min whimpered in the backseat. They still had about thirty minutes until they would reach the campsite and Seungcheol tried to keep sane through all the comments his friends made the entire trip.

“When we get there, why don't you and Jihoon gather some wood for the campfire while Seungcheol and I set up the tent? We might not be able to meet up with Won Woo and the others until tomorrow morning.” Junhui said to their two younger friends.

“Oooh, campfire!” Soo Min brightened up. “This is starting to sound fun again!” She added before she turned to see if Jihoon agreed.

“Hopefully we don't burn the place down.” So much for keeping it positive and exciting. Leave it to Jihoon. 😂

“This is starting to sound scary.” Soo Min frowned and earned a laugh from the others.

Won Woo sat near the campfire that was started a while ago and stared at Mingyu who was currently cooking for everyone. He was making a stew in a pot and Won Woo found it amazing that he was able to cook in this kind of situation. He supposed Mingyu and his friends really came compared since there was even a little table for Seungkwan to help cut up vegetables on.

“Like what you see?” He suddenly heard Jeonghan say in a teasing tone next to him.

“Shut up.” Won Woo blurted out and didn’t even bother glancing at him, but he did avert his stare elsewhere so the annoying Queen wouldn’t keep teasing him about it.

“I’m just kidding. Of course you like what you see, you see food.” Jeonghan chuckled and Won Woo had no choice but to laugh at that. For it second it felt like Soo Min was with him since her boyfriend picked up on her personality sometimes.

“I bet you’re happy they decided to make a stew.” Won Woo said quietly while staring at the pot again. Stews were Jeonghan’s favorites, that much he knew about his frenemy. “I wonder what Soo Min and Jihoon are eating tonight?”

“Probably takeout.” Jeonghan pouted. “They’ll probably be ten pounds heavier when we get back.”

“That would be good, they’ve been looking a bit thin lately. Probably from all the homework and stress.” Won Woo pointed out before frowning. “I should have dragged them along on this trip now that I think about it. They need time away from school work.”

“Maybe, but deadlines aren’t meant to be messed with, you know.” Jeonghan was in agreement but was also thinking logically about it. “Don’t worry, I’m sure they’re doing just fine.”

“I hope so.” Won Woo sighed before he saw someone block his view of the cooking pot. He was handed a small tray with a serving of the stew by Mingyu! “T-Thanks.” He managed to say and accepted it before looking around. Apparently he was the first to be served and it made him smile a little. It was clear Mingyu was thinking about him the whole time, wasn’t he?

“Shouldn’t the Queen have been served first?” Jeonghan snickered.

“We’re far from the Kingdom, your status doesn’t apply out here.” Won Woo chuckled when Jeonghan pouted at him before laughing along with him. They were kind of getting along, weren’t they? That’s when Chan called over to Jeonghan.

“What is it, baby?” He asked.

“Nevermind, forget it!” Chan frowned and went back to getting his serving and sat with Soonyoung and the other two while Mingyu chuckled and prepared Jeonghan’s serving.

“Oh no, my baby is already going through that phase! He’s growing up too fast!” Jeonghan looked legitimately sad for a second and Won Woo looked over to Chan who was chatting up a storm with Soonyoung about something.

“He has to grow up sometime.” Won Woo said before taking a bite of the stew, Jeonghan stopped him suddenly. “What?”

“Careful, you have to blow on it first!” He said in that parental tone and proceeded to blow on the spoon full of hot liquid. Won Woo frowned and turned away from his friend, completely annoyed!

“Here you go, hyung!” Mingyu finally came over with his serving. “Sorry to keep you waiting!”

“It’s fine.” Jeonghan assured him with a small laugh before scooting over so he could sit between him and Won Woo. “Sit between us!” He blurted out and they could hear Won Woo choke a bit after Mingyu sat down and it was clear why! “Don’t die!” Jeonghan teased.

“Are you okay?” Mingyu asked and clearly sounded worried. He handed Won Woo the water bottle that was by their feet on the ground and the older took a few sips and calmed down.

“I’m fine.” Won Woo managed to say with an embarrassed frown. So much for getting along with Jeonghan, he hated him even more now! “Why don’t you go eat with your son if you think he’s growing up too fast. Wouldn’t want to miss another moment of his youth.”

“Right, of course!” Jeonghan laughed and took his small tray. He actually left and joined the others.

“He’s so annoying, I swear.” Won Woo muttered once he was gone. That made Mingyu laugh.

“I think I can agree with you on this one.” Mingyu admitted and Won Woo looked over at him, surprised that he agreed. “It was cute at first when everyone was teasing us, but now it’s getting bothersome.” He added.

“Exactly.”

“I wonder if they’d stop if we just…” Mingyu trailed off and cringed when he realized what he was saying.

“If we just… what?” Won Woo asked cluelessly.

“Nothing.” Mingyu gave a nervous laugh. “Forget I said anything!” He added and quickly ate his food. Luckily it wasn’t as hot like when it was first served. Won Woo thought his behavior was a bit strange and thought about it during the rest of their dinner. He supposed being out of the city and in the outdoors was messing with his head and he hadn’t been able to think clearly about stuff.

“Are you having fun?” Mingyu’s voice caught his attention and snapped him away from zoning out and he realized dinner was finally over. The others were currently crowded around the campfire telling stories to each other while Won Woo had stepped away for some fresh air.

“Yeah.” Won Woo nodded but it didn’t seem that convincing. “Or at least I’m trying to.”

“I understand. Don’t worry.” Mingyu assured him. “I’m just happy you came. Thanks for making the effort.”

“Sure.” Won Woo said softly while looking away, he started to feel a bit embarrassed. He wished it didn’t sound like such a big deal that he came on this trip without his wingman.

“Okay, I think it’s time we head to bed! We need lots of rest for your activities tomorrow!” Soonyoung announced. The two turned to look towards the campfire before looking back at each other and gave a small laugh. Suddenly they had a curfew?

“Have you been fishing before?” Mingyu asked.

“Uh, not really.”

“Ah, then I’ll have to teach you!” Mingyu beamed and his expression had Won Woo smiling again. “It’ll be fun.”

“I’m sure it will be, thanks.” Won Woo said before Chan interrupted.

“Hyung, let’s go!” He tugged on Won Woo’s arm. “Before Jeonghan hyung changes his mind about the room arrangement!”

“Okay, okay!” Won Woo laughed before he allowed Chan to drag him away. “Goodnight.” He said to Mingyu with a small wave.

“Night! Sleep well!” He called after them before he headed to the tent a moment later. When he crawled into his shared tent room he saw Jeonghan already asleep and was sprawled out on the floor with his legs and arms. There was no room for Mingyu and he laughed. “At least there’s more rooms.” He muttered to himself before crawling out and crawled over to the one after Won Woo and Chan’s shared tent room. He could hear the two talking quietly and it sounded like they were catching up with each other, which was cute.

After an eventful evening with putting up the tent and cooking for everyone, Mingyu knocked out minutes later after getting comfortable in his own tent room. The sound of Won Woo’s voice was the last thing he heard before drifting off and there was a smile on his lips.

“Hmmmmmmmmmm,” Soo Min hummed while squinting at the map she downloaded onto her phone earlier. She seemed to be concentrating but honestly her mind was blank.

“Is this the right place or not?” Seungcheol asked.

“I don’t know.” She frowned. “I don’t see the sign anywhere.” She added while looking out the window. They were looking for the Shining Diamond Camping Grounds.

“Don’t tell me we’re not at the right place?” Jihoon groaned. They were definitely at a camping site, but probably not the right one. He did spot a sign, but it said No Exit Camping Grounds. That name didn’t sound too… inviting.

“Sorry, I’m not really sure how to read the map.” She apologized while turning her phone to see if she could see it better in a different angle.

“If you couldn’t read it properly, why didn’t you say anything?!” Junhui almost shouted. “Now we’re lost?!”

“Chill out!” She laughed at his panicked expression. “At least we’re at a camping site, even if it’s not the right one…”

“Well, it can’t be helped. We’ll just set up the tent for tonight and pack up tomorrow. Hopefully we’ll find the correct campsite then.” Seungcheol said calmly, he was the oldest in the group so he had to be the calm one and lead the other three in the right direction at least.

“Hopefully.” Both Jihoon and Junhui said in sync while Soo Min gave a sheepish laugh.

With that, Seungcheol and Junhui started to set up the tent while Jihoon and Soo Min went to look for some wood. There was an area designated for it and they didn’t really have to worry about any threats like wildlife- “Ah!” Soo Min suddenly shrieked and Jihoon almost had a heart attack.

“What?!”

“That bird scared me!” She pointed at the bird that had been on the ground looking for food and flew up to the tree when it heard the duo approaching. It made some noises and she gasped with an offended expression. “It’s laughing at me?!”

“Probably.” Jihoon was also laughing. “C’mon, let’s hurry. The sun is setting.” He pulled on her hand to lead the way. It didn’t take long for them to stumble upon some pieces of wood that could be used for campfires and they collected as much as they could carry in their arms before heading back to their friends who were about finished setting up the tent!

“Wow, that didn’t take long!” Soo Min blurted out.

“As expected from someone who’s been camping before.” Jihoon said with a small smile. He was impressed!

“I helped!” Junhui frowned when he felt like they were only praising Seungcheol.

“Let’s start the fire now.” Seungcheol said with a small chuckled and led the two with the wood to the designated fire pit. He instructed them to place the wood down in somewhat of a pattern and once they were done, he took care of bringing it to life with fire. The SooJi Duo were in awe and stared at the fire for a good five minutes while Junhui got over it fairly quick.

“I’m hungry.” Junhui pouted after sitting down on one of the big logs that was placed to function as benches.

“Anyone bring anything to cook?” Seungcheol asked while also sitting on a log across from Junhui.

“Uh… I brought Choco Pies.” Soo Min said with a raised hand.

“I brought some ramen…” Jihoon held his hand up next. They were both sitting together on the third log, naturally.

“You think it’s enough for all four of us?” Seungcheol asked with a look of worry. He felt bad that they were going to eat Jihoon’s ramen. He most likely brought it for himself after all!

“I think so.” Jihoon said while getting up to fetch his suit case.

“If not, I can just eat Choco Pies.” Soo Min happily volunteered.

“No. That’s not healthy.” Junhui scolded and she pouted at him. Since when did he scold her about anything?!

“I packed four cups.” Jihoon came back with the ramen in his arms. “But where are we going to get the water?”

“Uh….” all four looked around before Seungcheol jumped up and sprinted to his car. He popped open the trunk and there was a package of water inside. Thank the heavens! Someone was looking out for them! “How are we going to boil the water?” Junhui blurted out and they were stumped now, besides Soo Min who was already eating her Choco Pies.

Just then, there was a rumble in the sky. “Uh oh.” Here came the bipolar weather Junhui warned Ren about yesterday! It started to rain! “Hurry, get in the tent!” Seungcheol instructed and they all rushed in. Luckily they put all of their stuff inside already. Too bad their campfire was starting to burn out because of the rain.

“Damn.” Jihoon muttered while peeking outside. “Hopefully it doesn’t rain for long. What if this tent doesn’t survive?”

“It should!” Seungcheol tried to say positively. “We spent a lot of money on it, it should, right?”

“Does it really work like that?” Soo Min asked and bit into her third Choco Pie.

“So much for the ramen.” Junhui mumbled and they all sighed. This sure wasn’t going so well, wasn’t it?

“Let’s just try to think positive.” Seungcheol said before pointing up. “It sounds like it’s dying down already.”

“The campfire is probably ruined.” Jihoon said after peeking outside again. “It’s probably muddy, too.”

“This was not the camping trip I thought of when you guys asked me to tag along.” Junhui pouted before snatching Soo Min’s 6th Choco Pie. “Stop eating! Save some for us!”

“But they’re mine!” She protested and the other two laughed.

“Hyung?” Chan asked in a whisper a few hours later.

“Hm?” Won Woo replied with his eyes closed.

“You’re not asleep yet?” He asked.

“Almost.” He had a hint of laughter in his tone. “Why? You can’t sleep?”

“Not really.” Chan said with a frown and that’s when Won Woo opened his eyes to look at him. “It’s kind of silly, I guess I’m just a bit nervous about sleeping in a tent like this. It’s been awhile since I last went camping with the other hyungs.” He admitted.

“It’s fine. I was nervous, too.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. But I have you and Jeonghan here with me so I’m okay now.” Won Woo gave him a small smile before reaching over to give him a pat on his small shoulder. “Just relax and take a deep breath. Jeonghan and I are here, you have nothing to worry about.” He added and he could see Chan smile.

“Thanks, hyung.” The younger seemed to be in a better mood now. “I’ll try to sleep now, sorry to keep you awake!”

“It’s fine, don’t worry about it.” Won Woo assured him. Chan proceeded to close his eyes after telling his hyung goodnight once more and soon the boy fell asleep. Now Won Woo was awake and he held in his sigh. He might have lied when he said he was almost asleep a moment ago. You should listen to your own advice, loser. He scolded himself in his mind. It’s okay.

Won Woo remained awake for at least another hour before he sat up when he heard someone wake up and leave their tent room. At first, the noise startled him and any sleepy feeling he had vanished instantly! Damn it. He thought in defeat. Whoever it was, he could see their shadow come to his shared tent room.

“Can you be any less noisy?” Won Woo asked with a frown when he saw Jeonghan peeking in.

“Sorry.” Jeonghan gave a quiet sheepish laugh. “I thought to come check on you.”

“I’m fine. Don’t worry about it. You don’t have to check on me.” Won Woo whispered, he seemed annoyed now.

“Right.” Jeonghan gave another quiet laugh before he crawled in and zipped the opening closed.

“What are you doing?”

“Checking on my baby, too.” He said after crawling over to Won Woo’s side.

“Your baby’s over there!” Won Woo complained while hugging his knees to his chest, as if allowing Jeonghan more room to navigate to the other side..

“I know, but I can’t fit on that side!” Jeonghan pouted. “I don’t want to wake him.”

“How am I supposed to sleep with you in here now?” Won Woo muttered, but surprisingly he started to get sleepy after Jeonghan joined the small tent room. “We all can’t fit in here…” they could.

“Just chill out, sheesh.” Jeonghan chuckled. When he noticed Won Woo’s eyelids getting heavy, he reached out and wrapped an arm around his frenemy and made him lean on his shoulder. “Go ahead and head off to dreamland, you’re three hours late.”

“Shut up.” Won Woo mumbled with his sleepy voice and didn’t make a move to reject Jeonghan’s gesture. “You should be there, too.”

“I will, I’ll meet you there in a bit.” Jeonghan said sweetly and gave a few gentle pats on his arm. “You go first.” Won Woo didn’t reply this time and moments later he was asleep. Jeonghan was glad he didn’t make such a fuss about leaning on his shoulder at least. But he felt bad that Won Woo had been awake all this time, he probably should have made sure he and Chan were sleeping okay before he went to sleep himself. Helping with the tent did tire him out and he knocked out the moment he lied down, but it couldn’t be helped! “Sweet dreams, dear Prince.” Jeonghan said softly while shifting and helping Won Woo lie down properly without waking him.

He lied down next to him a moment later and got comfortable before knocking out again.

“What is it?” Jihoon whispered when he heard Soo Min whimper next to him in the tent. Seungcheol and Junhui were on the other side sound asleep but it seemed like Soo Min hadn’t gone to sleep and Jihoon was about to fall asleep until he heard her.

“Nothing.” She whispered back.

“Are you sure?” He frowned while sitting up and looking down at her.

“... I’m just a bit scared.” She admitted.

“Scared of what?”

“Sleeping in this tent.” She said while sitting up to face him. “And the rain… what if we drown in our sleep?”

“We’re not going to, idiot.” He flicked her on the forehead and she pouted while rubbing the sore spot. “You’re over thinking it. Just relax and take a deep breath. You’ll be fine. I promise.”

“Really?” She looked so worried.

“Yeah, I’ll make sure of it. So, just try to sleep, okay?” He said while pushing her to lie back down. “I’m sure Won Woo and Jeonghan are doing fine, too. If you worry about it too much, they might sense it.”

“Ah, okay… I’ll try to calm down.” She pulled the blanket they were sharing up over and stared up at the ceiling of the tent. There was a flash of lightening and she flinched and almost shrieked. She shut her eyes tight and whimpered again. How was she going to sleep now?!

A moment later she felt headphones being placed on her ears and she opened her eyes to see Jihoon give her a small smile(OHSHC moment x.x). He gave her his headphones to block out the noise and played some relaxing music, particularly his compositions. It was enough to keep her distracted from the faint sounds of thunder outside, she could still feel the ground shake a bit. Just focus on the music! She thought to herself and shut her eyes tight again.

Now she felt Jihoon rubbing her arm, as if to distract her from the feeling of the ground shaking when the thunder would echo. It was actually helping and soon she was slowly drifting off to sleep. She couldn't imagine what things would have been like if he hadn’t come along with her. Seungcheol and Junhui had already gone to sleep and they also weren’t close enough to help her out like this either. She just hoped that someone was there for Won Woo tonight just like Jihoon was there for her. Of course she was thinking of Chan, if it were Jeonghan, they would have probably bickered the whole night. That thought almost made her laugh and it was the last thing she thought of before finally falling asleep.

When Jihoon noticed she was asleep, he stopped rubbing her arm and let out a small sigh.

“Is something wrong?” He suddenly heard Seungcheol ask on the other side of the tent. It wasn’t that far, maybe about six feet. “She can’t sleep?”

“She just fell asleep.” He replied since Junhui was almost snoring and Soo Min still had the headphones on.

“Ah, I see.” He nodded. “Will you be able to sleep now?”

“I don’t know. Not really tired.” Jihoon shrugged and faced Soo Min again. She was starting to shift in her sleep so she could lie on her side. He took that chance to take the headphones off since that would probably be uncomfortable and wake her up. He just hoped the thunder would stop soon along with the rain and wouldn’t bother her anymore.

“You should try to get some sleep at least.” Seungcheol frowned at that answer.

“I’ll try. Don’t worry.” Jihoon assured him before turning the music on his spare phone off. He wrapped up his headphones and put it back into his duffle bag nearby. “Night.” He said to Seungcheol before lying down.

“Night.” Seungcheol said with a small smile. He watched Jihoon get comfortable for a moment before he lied back down as well. A moment later, he heard Jihoon groan on the other side of the tent and looked over to see he was getting a koala hug from his best friend in her sleep. Her arm was hooked around his neck and it looked like she was suffocating him! Before Seungcheol could get up to help, Jihoon handled it on his own. He knew Jihoon would fall asleep soon after that and he did. He felt kind of jealous though, he wished that could have been him cuddling Jihoon. He was able to push those feelings aside so he could go back to sleep when the rain finally stopped.

As far as the continuation I think it would be ok since you will be updating a few months from now. Right now it would seem a little weird, but I don't think it will be bad later. Go with your heart though.
