laundry

ig collection

the door eased its way open with the help of a shoulder, giving way to a man with a laundry basket tucked under his arm. the carpet was soft under his feet, the toes wiggling into the fabric with each step he took towards the flight of stairs. byun baekhyun loved his apartment; it was filled with many kind hearted people, not that he would classify himself as one of them. he made friends with his neighbors, giving them gifts everyonce in a while, inviting the level over for a party every few months. so why wasn't he a kind person? byun baekhyun was cruel when it came to love. his heart never belonged to one man, his body resting in more unfamiliar beds than his own. he tried, of course, he tried to be loyal, but to him, it was just- the people he thought he loved would become boring after a few weeks. that was the problem- boredom.

his feet made contact with the cool wood of the steps and he shivered, fingers gripping the basket of dirty clothes even harder. the sound of his footsteps were soon drowned out by the sound of plucked strings and a low hum. byun baekhyun paused near the foot of the steps and quietly set his laundry down, taking a seat on the stairs

the sound was simple and nullifying, the male feeling his thoughts drift away at the accuracy of the notes and the low tone that accompanied the guitar. his eyes closed, hands holding up his chin. it was beautiful, sad yet beautiful. the hum soon became confident and turned into words, the tone resonating throughout the laundry room. byun baek was captivated, his lungs caught in his throat

it was then that the man who was singing attempted a high note and failed, byun baek's eyes opening at the crack in tone. but no, he didn't laugh, instead he smiled softly and sang the rest of the chorus for the man. the notes were quite easy for the soprano to reach, the sound hanging in the air for the guitar had stopped singing

the guitarist stood up and looked at the man who was staring right back, surprise written on his face.

"how long have you been there?"

"long enough to know that you're a fan of sad romance artists"

byun smiled and stood up, picking up the basket next to him.

"you should come by sometime."
