You're the Potion to my Cauldron

"I still can’t control it, please don’t play with me. Why are you keeping a front? I don’t know what will happen"

Seventeen - Adore U

It was early in the morning and Hoseok lied flat on his stomach in the middle of a bathroom, cheek pressed against the cold floor tiles and breathing slowly. There was water rinsing steadily from a broken toilet close to him and the mirrors were fogged from whatever damp there was floating around.

It was way too early for Hoseok to already be up and all he wanted to do was crawl back in his bed and get a couple of hours more sleep. But instead here he was, doing his duties as the perfect BPS member. Well, there may have been another reason, that was Kim Seokjin.

Hoseok actually considered it quite unfair, they both got into trouble because of the love potion incident, helping Mr. Filch with a lot of bothersome stuff like scrubbing the hallways as well as cleaning the castle in the morning and evenings. Hoseok was the coolest guy in Hogwarts, the mood-maker of the whole castle, so cleaning after annoying first years wasn’t exactly his favourite hobby.

Seokjin definitely should consider this, but instead he used all of his energy completely blaming Hoseok and forcing him to do stuff to make it up, which lead him to this morning and the bathroom mission.

“You started the whole BPS , didn’t you?” Seokjin snapped at him, “Well, then what about you examine the bathroom a whole day, starting from five in the morning!”

Hoseok tried to protest, but Seokjin just poked a finger in his chest and glared at him. Sometimes, Seokjin scared him more than his mother.

“What are the odds of someone mysterious coming inside just when I’m watching over this bathroom?” Hoseok mumbled to himself and tilted his head to the side, looking from below the bathroom stall’s wall at the foot of the washbasins.

He totally believed there was something wrong about the bathroom and monitoring it a whole day was surely a good idea, but Hoseok was tired and hungry. He probably could doze off just like that, but chances were high Seokjin came in to check on him.

It was weird, Hoseok thought, how the bathroom seemed so much colder than any regular bathroom. Still, the mirrors over the white washbasins were fogged, as if there was some heat causing that.

Hoseok furrowed his brows and moved a bit closer to the washbasins, body still pressed on the floor. The air around him was cold – so didn’t that mean the heat had to come from inside? But then, what inside? The washbasins were arranged to some sort of column, so technically there could be something inside, even though Hoseok suspected it to be nothing but more of the white marble. Who could possibly set a fire inside the column, that’d be ridiculous.

Hoseok furrowed his brows and decided to still check on it, just to be sure. He slowly got up and brushed the dust of his robes, before taking a few more steps forward. Something about the whole situation was seriously creepy, with the dramatic white column of washbasins in the middle of the bathroom, the faint light tinting it in soft grey colours.

Hoseok felt weird when he leaned forward and pressed his palms against a fogged mirror. Warm. It was most definitely warm, way warmer than it was supposed to be in this cold bathroom. Hoseok wrinkled his nose and then instinctively flicked his wand.

“Diffindo.”

The mirror burst into thousand pieces and Hoseok quickly raised his arms to shield his face from the shards practically flying everywhere. One flew dangerously close and cut a long stripe into Hoseok’s robes right below his shoulder. Great.

And even better was the fact that all he could see was still white marble, nothing below it, no secret chimney or fire place. Hoseok groaned and reached out to touch the marble. It was just as warm as the mirror, feeling hot below his palm. What was going on? Did Professor McGonagall hex it to be some heating marble?

Hoseok was about to step back from the washbasins, planning to report it to the rest of BPS, when suddenly the door swung open. Oh. Was it finally time for the mysterious person to appear? Hoseok immediately spun around on his heels, gaze expectantly darting to the door and wand raised.

There was nothing but a silent “meow” and Hoseok groaned again. Caroline Leeker’s white, fluffy cat, Merlin, stared up at him with big, green eyes and meowed one more time.

“What are you doing here,” Hoseok sighed and bent down to pick up the cat, “Slytherin’s common room is pretty afar from here, you know? Come, I’ll take you to Caroline.”

Merlin did nothing but purr and Hoseok patted its head absentminded. The weird feelings he got from the bathroom intensified, but he couldn’t quite put a finger on it. They got so many hints, the destruction of everything around Halloween, the red stone, the roar, and now the suspiciously warm mirrors. But he still felt like they were missing out on something essential. What was it?

“Do you know what’s going on?” Hoseok asked Merlin and squished its head between his hands.

The cat meowed again rubbed its nose against his palm. Hoseok smiled and petted its soft ears. Maybe he should get himself a cat, too. One for him, and one for Seokjin, to seek entire forgiveness from him.

“Hey wait,”

Taehyung stopped right on tracks, blinking down at the hand curled around his wrist. He was late for dinner because he looked after Cracker one more time, the kneazle feeling kind of cranky lately. Junhong already told him he won’t save another bowl of milk pudding for him this time, so Taehyung knew he probably had to hurry in order to still get his hands on at least some of the pudding.

So the person randomly appearing in front of him and stopping him on his way wasn’t exactly helpful.

“Taehyung can I, um, talk to you for a second?” Xero asked and bit his lower lip, his long white fringe covering half of his face.

“Do you like milk pudding?” Taehyung asked in return.

“What?” Xero seemed momentarily stunned and furrowed his brows, “No not really, why?”

“Good,” Taehyung grinned, “Give me your portion then? If I’m late the other guys will surely eat all of it.”

“Yeah sure,” Xero mumbled and took a hold of the purple haired’s hand, dragging him through the entrance hall to a secured corner.

Taehyung stumbled behind him and blinked when Xero slowly let go of his hand and then cleared his throat awkwardly.

“Taehyung, I,” he started and hid his eyes behind his fringe, “I want to apologize …”

“Hmm?” Taehyung tilted his head, “Why?”

“You know why,” Xero muttered and uncomfortably shifted his weight, “What I did to you the other day – I’m really sorry for that. You’re my friend, I can’t believe I actually attacked you …”

“Oh but weren’t I under the influence of some weird potion thing?” Taehyung said and puffed his cheeks, “The others said you knocked me out to protect me from myself?”

“Ah well I said this because of Professor McGonagall,” Xero admitted with a strained voice, “But I was actually just jealous I guess. It made me kind of furious watching that, you know?”

“Why?” Taehyung asked with a complete clueless expression on his face.

“Because –“ Xero paused and then smiled weakly, “Never mind. Just – we’re still friends, are we?”

“Of course we are,” Taehyung said and grinned, “After Jimin, Jungkook and Junhong I like you the best!”

“Wow, what an honour,” Xero mumbled but then laughed and grabbed the other’s hands, “So let’s go and get you some milk pudding, okay? You wanna sit at our table again? I promise I’ll watch out no one slips any potion in your drink again. ”

Taehyung nodded and followed him with a smile on his lips and Xero felt so incredibly glad, holding the other’s hands tightly. Nothing was worth losing his friends, not even a certain prefect.

“And he was actually pretty excited about it,” Stephanie said with wide hand movements, “Warm mirrors, warm marble and everything. Hoseok he felt like there was a fire inside it, doesn’t this sound weird to you, too?”

“Well, kind of?” Seokjin furrowed his brows and stuffed his books in his bag, “But then there also could be a logic explanation to this, you know? Maybe a teacher just hexed the marble because it’s always so cold in that bathroom?”

“But no one uses that bathroom anyway,” Stephanie said and crossed her arms, “You know, I feel like I actually read something about a case involving a bathroom in Hogwarts before. Maybe instead of stumbling over random hints we should do some actual research?”

“Sounds good,” Seokjin nodded and held the door open for her.

It was late, after dinner, and everyone huddled back to their common rooms, excited chattering filling the air. Seokjin and Stephanie guided the first years who were still too stupid to remember the way to their common room even after half a year and Seokjin hoped for Hoseok’s life that he didn’t meet him anywhere. Because on a serious note, even though the thing with the warm mirrors sounded suspicious, it could also be just a ty excuse of the other to stop with the surveillance of the bathroom. The more Seokjin thought about it, the more he actually believed it.

But there was no Hoseok on their way to the common room, instead Namjoon suddenly popped up in the midst of the students and excitedly made his way in their direction, waving his hand and showing a wide smile.

“Steph,” Namjoon grinned and slung an arm around her shoulder before lightly punching Seokjin’s shoulder, “Yo, what’s up mate?”

Seokjin felt seriously friendzoned at that moment and furrowed his brows in annoyance.

“Nothing, mate.”

Stephanie giggled and quickly freed herself from the other’s grip. “I’ll guide the first years on my own Seokjin, you two have a moment okay?”

“Wait I can help you with that –“ Seokjin protested but she already rushed off with the small first years right on her tracks, vanishing effectively in the mass of student bodies.

“Mad at me again?” Namjoon grinned and quickly held on Seokjin’s sleeve to stop him from vanishing, too.

“Of course not,” Seokjin grumbled and fell back into step with the other, “So, what do you want?”

“Just talk to you?” Namjoon suggested and then chuckled, “I heard you got into trouble the other day?”

“Well yes I did, so?” Seokjin snapped and crossed his arms in front of his chest, “I’m pretty sure you’re not in the position to make fun of me? Stephanie told me you were sent to detention several times this year already.”

“Whoa, I thought I could trust her with my secrets,” Namjoon acted dramatically shocked and then laughed, “But seriously though, I never expected this of you. You’re always this perfect and ambitious prefect, flying grades, excellent behaviour, and then you actually slip love potions into other student’s food? This is something I’d expect from our fourth years.”

“It was an experiment, okay?” Seokjin snapped and walked faster but Namjoon easily kept up with him, “We’re doing love potions as a class project and Hoseok managed to persuade me to this ridiculous experiment which will assumedly lift our grades.”

“And you agreed on that?” Namjoon laughed and slung an arm around his shoulders, “This is really surprising. The image I had of you is all shattered now. You’re actually quite greedy and uncaring about others when it comes to your grades, aren’t you?”

Seokjin huffed and freed himself from the other’s grip. “Of course not.”

“I like it though,” Namjoon confessed with a grin and then reached out to innocently curl his fingers around Seokjin’s lower arm, “Instead of all goody two shoes you’re a bit badass – that’s hot.”

Instead of retorting a snarky remark Seokjin was completely caught by surprise and couldn’t help but blush a faint red.

Namjoon’s dark eyes sparkled while he watched him and then he pulled Seokjin closer by his hand.

“Come on, I want to show you something.”

“What?” Seokjin furrowed his brows and stumbled behind him, allowing Namjoon to drag him down the hallway to a hidden niche behind a tapestry.

“Nothing,” Namjoon grinned and softly pushed him by his shoulders against the wall, “I just wanted to be away from the rest.”

Seokjin rolled his eyes but couldn’t really come up with anything better than “So lame …”

Not with Namjoon being so close to him, arms left and right next to him, effectively caging him in between them and staring down at him with a smirk playing his full lips.

“Okay, then next time I’ll say ‘Seokjin follow me, I really want to kiss you right now’,” he said with his deep, dangerous voice and reached out to softly place one hand on his cheek

Seokjin’s breath hitched in anticipation and before he could even close his eyes, Namjoon already leaned in. It’s probably ridiculous, how he made Seokjin feel just with a simple press of lips, how he stirred him up all inside just because of the slow, soft touch.

He couldn’t resist, not really with the way Namjoon moved his lips slowly, almost tenderly, and then softly bit down on his lower lip, drawing a gasp from Seokjin. Their tongues touched swiftly, warm and wet and intoxicating, and Seokjin curled his hand around the other’s collar.

Namjoon smiled against his lips and slightly leaned back, pressing their foreheads together.

“Seokjin, I really want to kiss you right now,” he said and ran his thumb over the elder’s cheek.

“Then why don’t you?” Seokjin whispered.

Namjoon chuckled and leaned in again, and this time it’s more tongues and less soft touches and the blood boils inside Seokjin’s body all over again, pulling the younger as close as possible. Namjoon smelled nice, especially with his body pressed against Seokjin’s, and his tongue was so skilled it left Seokjin all breathless. It almost scared him, how he felt like he could do this forever, kiss Namjoon again and again and again and never grow tired of it.

“Seokjin,” Namjoon mumbled against his lips when they broke apart again, “Do you want to – meet me on Saturday?”

“Meet you?” Seokjin replied amused, “As in hanging out?”

“As in a date of course,” Namjoon said and casually curled a hand in the prefect’s soft brown hair, “We only had one, so it’s definitely time for our second date.”

“We have Quidditch training in the morning,” Seokjin said slowly and smiled when Namjoon intertwined their fingers, “Pick me up afterwards?”

“Sure,” Namjoon grinned and leaned down for another soft kiss.

Seokjin really had homework to do and there were also prefect duties like watching over the common room, but it was all too easy to ignore right now with Namjoon’s sweet kisses and the way he held him close.

I feel like NamJin ending each chapter with a kiss is the only thing I can write about them??? Like wow I’m repeating it over and over again and isn’t it already pretty lame??? And I'm really sorry for the grammar in this chapter - I had a mental breakdown somewhere in the middle and couldn't come up with any good grammar even though I tried .....

I know you guys crave for more yoonmin and taekook and I promise, they’ll be all over the next chapter so you can definitely look forward to that.

I hope you enjoyed reading guys! :)

Chapter 27: Damn. Your story is super-duper good. Amazing fics you got here. It's not complicated like a real Harry Potter novel but you make it absolutely pleasant for a reader with limited English like me. The plot is not complex and I enjoy it very much. Don't make me start with the characters please. They're so many but you make a good portion for them to come out nicely and the couples, gosh, they're adorable. It's almost two years, yes, but you make it worth time if this is the result for waiting. I highly hope that you make another sequel for this. Please~ ^^ Thank you for the great fics. I enjoyed it very much. >_<
