Chapter 8
Cellphone (slow updates)Nichkhun put his pen down with a snap, closed his aching eyes and streched his stiff arms. He has been working at his desk the whole day and had not even stoppd for lunch, only having a sandwich and Americano at his desk as he plowed through the towering paperwork on his desk.
He could feel a headache slowly building up on the right side of his head. "No, not now", he thought. "I cannot afford to have a migraine attack now, there's still so much I have to do for this project." He adjusted his position in his CEO chair and started doing the familiar breathing exercises to relax his body. A sufferer of migraines since young, they plagued him in times of stress and fatique. It was a painful he had learnt to live with. And control, he noted with pride.
He exhaled, completing his breathing exercise and his eyes fell on a portrait of an elegant old woman in delicate silver frame on his desk.
"Tea time, grandma," he whispered with a wistful smile.
He walked over to side table in his spacious office., his body moving gracefully. On it, a glass kettle was bubbling merrily. He added tea leaves from a canister and poured the boiling water into a lovely Limoges teapot. While waiting for the tea to steep, he walked over to the large windows overlooking the bustling Busan city below.
He loved this city. He loved the wheelings and dealings of the business world. He had been brought into this world at a young age by his grandpa Edward Horvejkul and fell in love immediately. A formidable man who co-founder the family business together with his grandma Victoria Lee, she was everything Nichkhun wanted to be. His grandma, Victoria Lee was not only a great business woman, she was also a loving grandmother, both fair and nuurturing. The death of his grandmother a couple years ago was a devastating loss to Nichkhun. There wasnt one moment where she didnt think of his grandmother, of all the memories and lessons she had given him.
Nichkhun gave a sigh and set the empty cup aside. He turned back to his laptop, frowning at the screen. The project he was working on was a dream of her grandmother's, which made him even more determined to see it to fruition, no matter the obstacles. Eco-city. The Eco City is a massive project, a large city filled with housing options, retail and business, organic farming and clean energy. Nichkhun believed that this could be the first of many eco cities to come if it were a success. But the biggest problem was the magnitude of the project. It was too large even for her family's conglomerate to undertake on it's own. They need more investors and big ones at that.
Nichkhun was still staring at the screen when he heard a knock on the door,. "Come in" he said, rousing himself from his thoughts. His father, John Horvejkul, strode in. His father is completely different. Her father is not really friendly, forceful, he has a serious-look face, and his father is only cares of their business. Nichkhun and his father arent that close.
