Hanul's POV

I froze.

 Two crystal statues faced each other.

James broke first; he did what he always did, he offered that wan smile. Warm, with a touch of irony. 

“It’s you.”

I looked down, uncomfortable.

“I thought you went back to Korea.”

“I did.”

I looked up at him, and explained, “I’m back for two weeks as a back-up dancer for a debuting kpop band.”

He nodded, and gestured at me to sit down on the bench.

I complied, and he sat down next to me.

I watched his familiar profile against the sunlight.
Mist was drizzling down, despite the sun, saturating his hair.

Go away, mist, I thought. You’ll make him cold.
He turned to me and smiled brightly.

I stared back, had I said something aloud?

“Hanul, I’m… getting married. In two weeks.”

Startled, I said, “A girl?”

He looked down, smiling at my clumsiness.

“Yes.”

My heart started to flutter.
“What’s she like?”
“Hanul”, he said… serious. I was making this difficult for him.

“Tell me, James”, my tongue caught at his name.

He sighed. “She’s a runway model here. She’s a student at Julliard’s for theatre and contemporary dance.”

“You like to have flings with your students, don’t you?”, I said, nastily.

He stiffened. “Hanul, I’m sorry.”

I felt the weight of his honesty and I felt guilt wash over me, my so-called “justified” anger was replaced with nothing but my incompetency. I’d just hurt the person that’d given me everything I needed when I was alone in America. Besides that, we’d promised never to be in a relationship with each other.

 I’d had Nickhun. I was a , now that I think of it.

“I know you won’t come, but… “, he placed a wedding invitation on the bench.

And walked away.

I watched his familiar profile, heart thundering.

He stopped to pick up the coffee, crushed on the floor.
That’s my heart, I thought. 

I watched him pick it up; it was dripping, split open.
He threw it away, and disappeared into the mist.

I laid down on the bench and sighed.

A piece of white was interrupting my vision. I looked up and saw the invitation.

I slowly slid it towards me and opened it.

I felt my lips smile.

12:00 am- 6:00 pm
No gifts, please. If you do, we’ll throw it back at you!

I laughed.

Hope to see you there!

I slid the card in my pocket, and closed my eyes, before any tears would fall.

I’m sorry for how I acted.  James, I’m not jealous. I’m happy for you. I hope you understand that.

I stood up and stretched. I checked my watch 8:00. Mall was open! Time for some shopping!
Oh, New York, how I missed you.

X POV

9:10 Hanul: Let’s go to the amusement park todayyyy! ~ 6?
9:12 BoA: Sorry, I have to contact Prez. @ 6:30. Don’t think he’d approve if I was at an amusement park.
9:12 Hanul: >< Yuck.

 
9:20 Hanul: Want to go to the amusement park today at 6?
9:25 GDragon: Sure. :3
