Reminiscence
“What are you doing here?" I asked almost the same as him. We both sounded fools for talking at the same moment for the second time already. I cleared my throat, the same moment I saw him touching his nose with his knuckles. I waited for him to speak, but I guess he was waiting for me to say something as well. I gulped and forced myself to speak.
"I actually don't know why I'm here..." It was already too late to realize that I'm not making any sense from that sentence. "W-What I mean is, um, I..."
"You don't have to explain." He muttered, probably realizing my loss for words.
I nodded. Then I looked at him with confusion. "What about you? I thought you already left for your business conference. Um, was it business conference? Well, anyway, um, I thought you've already left. HaeSeok told me you've called to say goodbye."
"Yeah, I did." He said. But then he started to fill the gap between us without leaving his eyes off of me. "I was actually on my way to the airport after coming here, but something suddenly occured to me and I found myself coming back here."
"Oh, so these flowers are from you?" I asked, at the same time gave a jerk towards the flowers on the tomb, and he nodded.
Then he suddenly looked tensed as he put his hands inside the pocket of his jeans. "So, is Luhan with you?"
I blinked at his question. "What? N-No, no. I came here alone." I cleared my throat. "Luhan and I...it didn't work out for both of us." I said as I lowered my hand and looked at my bare hand. There was no ring on each of the fingers and I hope he'll get the hint.
"Oh, I'm sorry." He said softly.
I smiled assuringly at him but didn't say anything. He went silent for a moment too. The silence was awkward and deafening. Even the birds around us chose to stay silent. "I-I think you should probably go." I told him after a couple of seconds. "You'll miss your flight and—"
"It doesn't matter." He cut me off. "I was waiting for this chance to see you and now that I am here standing in front of you, I don't want to miss this chance."
My throat suddenly went dry and gulping down was so hard to do at this point. "What do you mean?"
With eyes still on me, he took a step forward. "You probably don't want to hear this but I'm happy that it didn't work out for both of you. It sounds harsh, I know but that's what I feel. And I want to be honest with you."
"M-Minseok-ah..."
"Haekyung-ah..." He continued. "For the past few weeks, you're all I think about. You're the voice I want to hear all the time. You're the face I want to see everyday. I want to wake up every morning having you around. I feel like a jerk for having this kind of feeling. I feel like I betrayed Hyemi. That's why I went here to tell her everything, asking her permission to move on with life together with you. And you know what this means, you and me meeting out here?"
I couldn't seem to find my words. This was too much for me to absorb. I mean, I didn't expect such words from him. Did he mean all of it? Did he really mean all of it?
"Hyemi made me come back here because she knows you are here. She wants me to be happy. And she knows you are the only one who can make me happy. She approves of you...for me." A genuine smile appeared on his lips.
I almost cried. There were tears in my eyes when I met his gaze. "Minseok..."
"I need you to be here with me. I need you here with me to establish a meaningful life together...together with our son. I don't want to raise a family without you. You're the only one I could picture myself with while building a family." He said. This time, a tear did fall from my eyes. Minseok cupped my face and used his thumb to wipe my tears away. "Please tell
