Reminiscence
As promised, I took Minseok to Mokpo to visit my parents' grave. In there, HaeSeok was happily telling his grandparents about how happy he was that he finally found his father after four years. Subconciously, I looked at Minseok the same moment he looked at me. I cleared my throat as I looked my eyes away from him. I wonder what he was thinking upon hearing his son. No. I shouldn't wonder.
"Sir, ma'am..." Minseok started. I'm battling with myself whether to stay or to go away to give him space and privacy. I decided to leave him but then he gestured me to stay. As Minseok continued, HaeSeok went away to play by himself like what he used to do whenever we're here. "I'm here to thank you personally for taking care of me when I was having an amnesia. I'm really, really grateful." He paused for a moment. "And I apologize for hurting your daughter. I shouldn't have left her like that."
"Minseok-ah..." I breathed out.
"Whatever happened before, it was all in the past. The important thing right now is HaeSeok's happiness. Haekyung and I may never be together again, but I promise to love HaeSeok with all my heart. I will not leave him again."
Haekyung and I may never be together again...why do I feel like my heart is shattered into pieces? I really thought I was so much better than that.
"Haekyung and I..." I fell back to earth when he said my name again. I found him smiling at me and I smiled back. "....will be the best parents for HaeSeok." He said. I couldn't stop myself to widen my smile. HaeSeok's laughter then echoed, making us both aware that he was chasing a butterfly once again. "Is he always like that? Chasing a poor butterfly?" Minseok asked and I laughed.
"Yeah, he's always like that." I replied. "Poor city boy, doesn't always see butterflies." It was Minseok's turn to laugh as he agreed.
We stayed there a couple of minutes, talking about HaeSeok. And he also told me about his future plans for our son. I found myself agreeing with him. After all, his plans were for HaeSeok's sake. I wouldn't argue with him on that. As I listened to him while he talked, I can see in his eyes the love he has for HaeSeok. Even though he hasn't anything for me, as long as I can see that he truly loved our son, I won't ask for more.
This is about our son and not me, after all.
Thank you, Minseok-ah...I said inwardly. Someday, I'll be able to thank him personally.
Seriously now, I must move on from our past. There's a lot of fish in the sea, as they say. I suddenly remember Luhan. Even though Minseok and I were no longer together, I believe he must know what's going on between me and his cousin. "Mm, I have something to tell you, Minseok-ah." I started. He looked at me without saying anything. He was waiting for me to go on. "Luhan and I are...are dating. I-I thought I might let you know."
Minseok nodded his head. There was no sign of resistance on his face. I should've felt relieved but I wasn't. "I don't have anything against Luhan. And it's your life, Haekyung-ah. You can d
