Eyes open but still with a vision of a blind who needs glasses to be able to see things clearly. All she could come up with was three men standing before her; she was apparently laying down. On a bed, she presumed. She heard her name being called a few times but she didn't seem to have the energy to actually respond. She was somehow restless. Her body weak. She felt confused with her body feeling such a way. She felt foreign in current the situation.

"Soomi?", a voice she could never forget as it was the second voice she heard the moment she was born after her own mother. The voice of her very beloved father. She would recognise it anywhere, even if it's been edited to sound very different. She would still know whose voice it is. Her eyes would close and open alternatively as she tried to find the strength to see her father. Her breathing was heavy, her heart beat began to raise. She was panicking on the inside. She didn't understand. Why was she in such a state? Why was she weak? What had happened before?

Her breathing got heavier and she rapidly letting out heavy breaths causing the three men to panic themselves. What was happening? As quick as the wind, one of them ran out out of the sudden which surprised the two men who were left behind with Soomi. "Hurry, there's something wrong", he said when he reappeared with a doctor and two nurses behind him. Before Soomi knew it, she only heard the words, "I would have to ask everyone to leave the room. We will need to run some tests", a voice she doesn't recognize spoke. She couldn't open her eyes anymore. She was completely restless. She was so still on the bed as if she was dead.

Lay, Sehun and Mr.Go stood outside watching, "What is happening to my Soomi?", Mr.Go uttered to himself which made Lay turn to him. His heart was burning from guilt. Look at the heart he broke when he was trying to win a heart. He only ended up breaking them all. Including his very own. He should be damned, he thought. How many more times can he say sorry until this guilt that was building in him would go away?

**********

The doctor came out about an hour later, taking off the gloves his hands were covered with; passing it to one of his nurses before they left. He didn't have a good expression on his face. He came off with a very worried expression but he also showed devastation in him. All three men were worried. They were anxious as they saw Soomi fast asleep once more. "Is she okay? Is she awake?", Mr.Go asked approaching the doctor.

The doctor smiled lightly, "I'm happy to tell you that she is awake but not for the way you wished", he said as his smile disappeared and a look of terror replaced everyone's expression in that hallway. Soomi's father was lost of words. He didn't understand, what did the doctor possibly mean? "What do you mean? She opened her eyes, she was awake", he asked asking for a confirmation although his heart was breaking from knowing the truth. The doctor shook his head, "She's consious but i believe she had lost her ability to functioning her body parts", he informed the cold heart-breaking truth. There was no way of lying or hiding the fact that Soomi was to sleep forever.

Mr.Go covered his mouth with his hand as the shock on his face became permanent on his face as tears for once gathered in his eyes to know that his only child is now bed ridden forever. For the rest of her life. She would never graduate. She would never finally meet the guy of her dreams. She would never get married. She would never walk down the aisle with her old man. She would never come running home after her first day at college. She would never come back home from her first day at work. She would never cry to her old man. She would never smile every so brightly to her old man like she would. Boy that smile lights up his whole life. She would never speak to him again, her angelic voice that her father was very fond of. Her presence in the house. Her routine of kissing her old man on the cheek before bed and her routine of always having breakfast with her old man. Everything has changed. In just a second.

Lay had tears falling on his cheeks the minute he heard the words coming out of the doctor's mouth. He immediately looked away scrunching his whole face as tears left his eyes. He fell to the ground with so much pain hitting him all at once. He wanted to cry out loud, he wanted to scream. He wanted to stab himself as if the pain coming from the stab would heal his heart. The girl he loves was never going to wake up to see him again. He won't hear her voice again. Her voice that comforts every part of him. The voice that brought him back alive after all these time of longing for someone who only destroyed him again and again. She was never going to forgive him. There was no chance of a future for the both of them. He was left with a hole in his heart. Permanently. A part of him died knowing every part of Soomi had died except for her heart.

Sehun on the other hand watched the people around him break into pieces like branches being broken one by one but instead of being sad, he was furious. His hands folded into fists as he looked around angrily. He could feel his heart broken but this isn't fair, he thought. Soomi was the perfect girl who wanted no harm. She didn't deserve a life being stuck in bed; unable to do anything in her life. She didn't deserve to lay there for the rest of her life. It wasn't fair. She didn't do anything to earn this. She did not one such harm, instead she was kind. She was loving and caring. Nothing more, nothing less. Sehun ran out of a sudden. He ran as fast as he could with his heart beat beating as fast as lightning. He wasn't running out of the building but instead he was running up the building. Not even bothered to use the elevator. He ran and ran up the stairs as fast as he could; not caring if he was tired or was about to faint.

The minute he opened the door the rooftop, he ran to the edge. Crashing onto the ledge with a scream that was as loud as someone screaming for their life. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!", He screamed his heart out; angry for Soomi. He was so angry that he became sad. As he screamed, tears rolled down his cheeks. He couldn't take it. He began to cry. He didn't understand how unfair life could be towards Soomi. She had lost the happy family she once knew, broken by the guy she fell for and now she lost her whole life to a bed that wasn't going to do her any justice. "She didn't do anything to deserve this", he cried out loud to the open view of the city as if God was standing before him in the sky. "Give her life back. Take anyone's but hers", Sehun cried as he found himself dropping to the floor with his hand holding on the railing. He was finally breaking down after holding it in for a moment.

Memories played in his head on how Soomi and him first met and up till now. He had no one anymore. The person who he always run to was gone. It would never be the same anymore. Soomi wasn't going to be able to talk to him, make him laugh, listen to him, comfort him and love him for being there as his best friend. Sehun was never going to be able to hug her again, he wouldn't have the reason to go over to her house again, he wouldn't be able to sit at the roof outside his bedroom window and talk about their dreams together. He wasn't going to be able to tell Soomi how he feels about her because there wasn't a point. He would be left hanging and it would make it hard for her as she was unable to reply. Sehun cried and cried uttering, "WHY? WHY? WHY?", to himself. He wanted to understand. He wanted a miracle.

**********

6 months passed and school was almost over for all of them. It was time to go to college. It was time to move on with their lives. No one was going to stay the same age forever. Maybe that would be for Soomi if she ever wakes up, she would think she was still 17 years old. She would be so devastated if she ever wakes up to find a part of her life wasted just like that but will she remember everything that she knows while she was stuck in bed? Or would it all be like a dream to her?

Mr and Mrs. Goh had invited Sehun and Lay over to their home. Sehun found it very suspicious as they invited Lay as well. They barely knew him at first until the incident happened which caused them to have a bond between them. Sehun didn't like it one bit. He blamed Lay for causing Soomi to lose her whole life. He blamed Lay for everything that happened to Soomi. As the four of them sat in the living room, each of them began remembering moments they had with Soomi in the house. Her father could picture her in every room doing what she usually does. Her mother remembering the last memories they had together as mother and daughter. Sehun watched himself having a movie night or dinner with Soomi and her dad. While Lay remembered that very moment they had in her room when he had to clean after himself.

A dark expression showered his face as he noticed how the memory he had of her in the house wasn't even a pleasant one. Were they even allowed to have pleasant memories together. Was he never fated to be happy now that he had found the person he loves? Was he that much of a misfortune? He felt so devastated till he thought of how that was the night he had confessed his feelings and they had agreed to start something new together. Promises he was never able to keep in the first place but all these memories that was running in their heads were killing them. Killing them as much as it was killing Soomi. "Sehun... Lay...", Mr.Go began speaking.

Both of the boys looked up with a frightened look on their faces. Judging from Mr.Go's voice, it was nothing too. "Soomi's mother and I have been thinking", he began saying but his voice broke as he was about to cry. He took a sniff from holding on to his tears and continued, "We've decided it's not fair to keep Soomi the way she is. She is suffering. She can't stay forever this way. We can't let her suffer.", he said but Sehun immediately looked serious. Lay however was in shock to hear such words coming out. "You mean you plan to let her go?", Sehun asked with a slight fear in his voice; this time he didn't dare to look at Soomi's parents or anyone else.

Mrs.Go's eyes became teary again as she spoke and tears escaped her eyes quickly. "It's time to ask Soomi's friends to come and see her. We can't keep her there Sehun, think about what it would feel like being in her shoes", she said before breaking down as she was making the hardest decision in her life. That is to put out her own child's life to end the suffering for her child. Of course she wants to keep her daughter in the world with her, but would she be happy to lay there until it was her time. Years and decades in the same position with nothing to do but hear the things around her. Lay began tearing although he sat still. He couldn't say anything. He caused this all to happen but he felt his heart aching so badly knowing the fact there are chances he was going to lose Soomi forever now. He was never going to see her physically too now. Every inch of him ached so badly that he wanted to end everything and to begin with, it would be his own life.

"I'm sorry", he said suddenly causing all eyes on him. Eyes that are filled with tears, pain, anger and heartaches. Lay stood up and kneeled in front of Soomi's parents in tears which became a bigger surprised; making the situation excruciatingly devastating. Soomi's mother began crying as she fell on her knees in front of Lay. "What are you doing?", she cried but Lay wouldn't budge. "I'm sorry. This is all my fault. It should've been me. Soomi was the perfect girl. A perfect daughter to loving parents", Lay began to say while Soomi's mother cried and cried as she tried to make Lay stand back up on his feet. They had never blamed him. They had never thought he was at fault.

"Get up Yixing. Get up", Mrs.Go raised her voice as she cried but Lay stood still on his knees crying as he kept bowing and bowing. Asking for forgiveness. In fact, he wasn't asking for forgiveness. He was begging for it. He had never let out his feelings ever since it all happened. He had so much guilt in him that he wasn't able to hold it in anymore. He had broken so many hearts for his selfish acts and now he was losing the girl he loves forever without being able to make things right. He crossed his heart to his death that he will make things right the moment he is given a second chance at it.

Soomi's dad couldn't help but cover his face as he cried seeing the way Lay was. He was bowing non-stop with words coming out so painfully. He could see how much this was hurting everyone in the room. It hurt him himself as a father to have his daugther's life stopped without a choice as he didn't want to be selfish to put her in such a state for her to suffer. He wanted what was best for her and that would be to let her go and be free. Not being cooped in a body that she wasn't able to use. Not being cooped there, laying there her whole life. It would ruin her, it would break her at one point and they wouldn't even know it as she would not be able to tell them.

Sehun stood up, both hands turned to fists but his feet stayed as tears came running down. "You can't do this to her. Not like this. She doesn't deserve this", he said as his voice kept breaking from crying but he saw chances of Soomi staying was slipping away. Life had been different for everyone ever since. Lay looked up at Sehun after hearing his words and something sparked in him. His eyes was teary but it was wide open all of a sudden. "She'll wake up", he said which made everyone turn to him with confusion on their expression. Was he insane? The doctor has informed them countless of times that Soomi had lost her ability to function her body. What more wasn't clear to him? Sehun however felt hope when he heard Lay utter such words although it sounded completely stupid.

"Lay, don't do this to yourself. You heard was the doctor said. She's not... She's not waking up", Soomi's mother cried covering her face. She didn't want to accept the reality but reality was catching up to her every single time. It was catching up on every one of them. Lay looked disappointed. Why was everyone giving up so quickly? Why didn't anyone have any faith? Why were they not fighting for what Soomi actually deserves? Lay stood up, "I'm sorry. I have to go", Lay said standing up; still choking on his words as he ran out of Soomi's house and ran as fast as he could. The hospital was all he could think of. He needed to see Soomi. He needed to see her right away.

When he got into the hospital, everyone was surprised by the sudden gush of a young man running fast making his way around. Lay wasn't going to stop for anything. The moment he got to Soomi's room, he stopped immediately and saw her laying there on her bed through the window. He wanted her to open her eyes so badly. He wanted to see those eyes she loves so much. With all his heart, he wanted t

Chapter 33: Author-nim well written! What a intricately written story, the varying levels of emotions was well displayed in all the characters and there was a lot of maturity from Lay. The strength and variety in the words and tones used throughout the whole story was probably the strongest point about your story :D
