On My Way
I Fell in Love with My Best Friend
“So you don’t remember anything?” Kris asked after we found our seats on the airplane.
“I do…” I trailed off.
“Just not enough,” he courteously finished for me.
“Yep,” I turned to face window and let my eyes wander into thick clouds coating the light blue sky.
“Your parents don’t know about him either?” he continued to question. Why was he so interested in my friend all of a sudden. He wasn’t this interested three months ago when I first told him.
“I think my aunt knows, but my parents didn’t tell me anything. I don’t know if they don’t know or if they’re just refusing to tell me,” I answered, uninterested.
“So,” Kris attempted to change the subject when he noticed my solemn tone, “what did you parents say about your sudden decision to go back? Since, you know, you’re going with a ‘hormonal teenage male’,” he made air quotation marks with his hands, causing me to let out a heartfelt chuckle.
“Nothing really. They said have fun, study hard, and don’t get pregnant - or else they’re out to get you with a Chinese meat knife,” I jokingly glared at him.
“But…” he shivered, “what if it’s not me who knocks you up?” Kris raised an eyebrow and scrutinized me.
“Who else is there, Kris?”
“I don’t know. Knowing you… Ow!”
I continuously slapped him on his arm until the skin under his white v-neck turned bright pink. “Are you calling me a ?! Huh?!”
“Maybe… Hey! Stop it!” I started playfully punching his face. “Don’t hurt my beautiful face, you woman!”
