I Fell in Love with My Best Friend
I didn’t understand what happened the next day.
As usual, Eli picked me up from school. Apparently, Kris told him about Xinyi. Obviously, Eli was not happy about the entire situation.
When we arrived at my apartment, I was going to go drop off my books before going out to eat dinner with Eli, but Eli offered to do so instead.
“Stay here, okay?” I nodded obediently. There was something different in his expression though - something that hinted he had a reason for going into my apartment instead. Then, I remembered. Kris was most likely home now. Why would Eli purposely want to run into Kris?
I had a bad feeling about this, so I decided to follow Eli.
I tip-toed to the apartment and pressed my ear against the door.
Did Eli actually think that I, Janice Ouyang, would actually leave in this type of situation? Psht! No! I mentally scoffed at Eli’s naivety. Apparently, it never occurred to either Kris or Eli that I was the type of person to eavesdrop, so they carried on with their conversation. I thought they hated each other. What did they even have to talk about?
“Kris Wu,” Eli’s muffled voice began.
“Yeah?”
“How the hell did you let that happen to Janice?” he spat.
“What do you mean?”
“Your friend or whatever - you told me she deliberately stole Janice’s inhaler?”
“Yeah…”
“How the heck did you let that happen?!”
“I never anticipated Xinyi to do such a thing.”
