The Last Duet
Description
You taught me how to dance, yet here I am alone, reciting a routine that was so familiar to the both of us. You left me for the best of your future, and I couldn’t blame you; how could I?
Relationships were never meant to overtake one’s life, so it couldn’t overtake yours – or mine.
Our end probably never affected you much, and I wished that it didn’t alter my daily life either. Yet I found bits of my sanity withering away each day without you. Thirteen years of reliance on you did nothing to improve the situation.
But I moved on – or so I thought. I forgot about you until that day. That day that the song – our song – played again. That day that I danced our routine – alone. That day that another one came into my life and tried to cover your presence.
A duet became a solo, until he replaced you as my partner – and something more.
