Roses and Cards
I Fell in Love with My Best FriendI woke up to the chirping of the birds on the trees outside the building. Oh, how I wished those creatures found another habitat instead of cutting my lack of sleep even shorter. I was a Saturday, but I had no desire to go out.
I curled back into my sheets until a knock on my door brought me back to my senses.
“What?” I whined through the confinements of my blanket.
No response. What the heck? But then there was another knock. And another. But still no responses to any of my calls. What the hell is this? Is this Kris? What is he doing?
Giving up completely, I decided to just get up from bed and see what the issue was. “Kris, I swear-”
A rose.
And then another.
Oh. It was a trail of red roses. But who put this here? Kris? Couldn’t possibly be. Eli? No, I rejected him yesterday. He was not one to pressure and press an issue. So I followed the train, picking up each rose as I went along. It all led to the entrance of the apartment. But who was the one knocking on my bedroom door? Without an exact clue since my mind was still hazy from recently being awaken, I decided to blindly follow the trail. I opened the door to find a card laying on the floor.
I pick it up and read the paragraph written on the inside.

一年前,我喜欢上你。
