None of Your Business
I Fell in Love with My Best Friend
“Oh, Yifan, you know him, too?” Luhan asked.
“Yeah, I met him through Jiayi,” he casually replied.
“Oh, so are they dating?” Lay asked. Kris gave me a stern stare, as if warning me about something.
“We’re not,” I coldly replied and started to turn the other way. “I have to go now,” I stated and waved to go back to the classroom as soon as possible. I didn’t understand Kris’s actions or his spite towards the mention of Eli. Did Kris still hate him from the misunderstanding?
After class, I continued to avoid Kris and the questions that my friends bombarded me with. I boarded Eli’s car and he took me to a cafe for lunch.
Despite all his attempts to cheer me up - although I did not even know how he knew I was upset in the first place, my mind was too clouded by Kris’s glares and interruption at school to even regard Eli’s presence. Why did Kris even come by our lunch table? Was he eavesdropping the whole time? But why did he even care?
Eli had to go back to work, so he took me back home. However, I must have displayed the fact that I was beyond reluctant to go back to Kris’s apartment because Eli immediately offered to cancel his conference to spend the rest of the day with me.
“Are you okay? I can call the other company and ask them to reschedule,” he worriedly gazed at me.
“No, I’m fine. I’m just tired from the lack of sleep. Good luck on your meeting!” I beamed.
“Thank you,” he took my left hand and placed a chaste kiss on the back of it.
“Bye,” I smiled and exited the car. I forced myself into the elevator and to the apartment door when the elevator doors opened.
