Apology
Living As His Fiancé
Donghae peered through the curtains leading to the living room.
"They are out in the patio, sir" the butler stated gesturing towards the opposite side of the room.
Donghae nodded and approached the glass doors leading to the courtyard. It would only seem likely that the boys would be in Eunhyuk's place after the unfortunate argument that took place last evening. It was the second place the boys visited most often after Donghae's house. Before taking his first steps outside, he stalled for a moment and awkwardly fidgeted with his fingers. What was he supposed to say to them? The usual case would be when the boys would apologize to Donghae for their carelessness but this time, it was the other way around. In this reverse situation, Donghae couldn't help but feel uncomfortable. He sighed. He just couldn't bring himself to do it. Just as he was about to turn around, a small voice rang in his head. It was a voice that was so familiar he could have sworn he had heard it before. The voice clearly belonged to a lady and it sounded so pure and gentle:
Donghae-ah, it's never easy to forget. But those who do are the happiest. It's never easy to forgive. But the people who do are the strongest. And it's extremely hard to apologize. But the first to do so is the bravest.
Donghae bit his lips and shifted his gaze upward to face the glass doors. Sooner or later he had to face them. He took a deep breath, shunned away the pride averting him from losing his friends and walked outside. As usual, they were playing soccer in the grassy fields with Heechul refusing to join them in a sport that could cause him to sweat. Donghae shook his head in amusement and approached them. Almost immediately, the boys stopped playing as he made his way over to them.
"Uhhh I uh . . . ," Donghae mumbled while gazing at the grass.
"What do you want?" Eunhyuk asked casually spinning the ball on his fingertips.
"About t-the other day . . . I didn't really mean . . . What I am trying to say is-" The other boys dipped their heads a bit closer. "Mianhe," he said inaudibly but it was obvious that the boys had heard it due their smiles.
"Sorry? I couldn't quite catch that," Leeteuk replied playfully just to piss him off further.
"Yah, you know what I said."
"Sorry we don't."
"I said I'm sorry all alright?" Donghae suddenly exclaimed, "I'm sorry for acting like a jerk all the time. You guys didn't deserve that." There was a brief silence in the air. "This is the part where you guys forgive me and we move on."
The boys exchanged looks for a second. "We'll have to think about whether or not to forgive you," Leetuek replied being the leader, "but until then, we need another man on our team cuz diva Heechul doesn't want to break a nail."
"Aish! YAH! Why would I play something like this when all it does is make me all sweaty and gross?"
Donghae chuckled along with the other boys and nodded. Leeteuk tossed Donghae the ball and prepared to run out into the field with the other members when Eunhyuk stopped them.
"Hold on a second," he stated, "What about Mei Ri?" Donghae eyed his friend curiously.
"What about her?" He had strange feeling about Eunhyuk's intention and it made him slightly uncomfortable but he brushed it away for now.
"I don't really care if you act that way to me but you shouldn't be like that to Mei Ri. She did nothing wrong."
"I did apologize to her. Don't worry," Donghae stated and then shyly averted his gaze, "We've reconciled."
"Seriously?" Leeteuk asked.
"Really?" Eunhyuk asked softly almost in a saddened tone. He should be happy for his friend right? Then why did he feel so disheartened?
"Umm . . . yeah," Donghae replied.
"Whoa you mean you two are . ." Sungmin asked curiously. Donghae nodded.
The boys couldn’t believe their ears. “Yah, our Donghae is actually in a legit relationship? That never happened before!” Heechul exclaimed.
"Yeah, so the bully falls for the girl he bullied. You don't see that often," Shindong stated.
"How did you know about that?"
"Eunhyu
