Just a Thought

Only You

Ji Hyun and Luhan were walking back home after Luhan won Ji Hyun the little angel. While looking at the angel that was in Ji Hyun’s hands, Luhan noticed a tiny piece of paper attached to the angel’s tiny hand.

“Can I see that quickly Ji Hyun?” Luhan asked. Ji Hyun nodded and handed the tiny angel to Luhan like it was glass. He started reading from the tiny tag. “This doll is said to give three wishes to whoever receives it as a gift. Whatever the heart’s desires are the doll with grant it.”

“How will a doll grant my wishes?” Ji Hyun asked skeptical to believe what Luhan read.

“Hm… How about since I got it for you, I’ll grant your wishes?” Luhan suggested.

            “Okay!”

“But you can’t wish for more wishes and you have to wish for something that I can actually grant! Also, make sure it doesn’t cost a lot of money because I’m only a kid and I don’t have a lot money!” Luhan told Ji Hyun.

“Okay.” Ji Hyun took the doll from Luhan. “I wish, Luhan oppa will always remember me and he’ll buy me ice cream!”

Luhan got up early since he’s gotten so used to people waking up early. He realized that his coffee maker was still broken, so either he would need to go out and get his coffee or he would go buy a new coffee maker. He turned his head from his broken coffee maker in the kitchen and noticed his grand piano that was in the living room collecting dust. Now, that he thought about it, he never actually touched it since he got here, since he was always playing with the one at the preforming arts school where he taught his lessons.

“Maybe I should play later?” Luhan said to himself, since he didn’t have any lessons today.

At the coffee shop, he was sitting by the window. It was pretty cold today and everyone said that it was probably going to snow. Luhan was thinking about calling one of his friends to join him, but they were probably all asleep if they didn’t have the thought to wake up Luhan like they have the past couple of days. As Luhan was watching people from the outside walk past him, he didn’t notice that he was tapping his fingers on the table as if it were a piano. The music was playing in his head, blocking out the noise of the people surrounding him. He felt like he was at an actual concert playing each note perfectly and on key, when he realized he played the wrong note or that’s how it played in his head. Opening his eyes back to reality, Luhan realized his coffee was getting cold.

Luhan got up from his seat and made his way to throw his coffee in the trash. He was looking through his phone planning to text the guys to come over to his condo, so they could discuss the Reira problem, which made his shutter every time he thought about it. Still looking down at his phone, he didn’t notice someone was walking right in front of him, that he bumped into them. Luhan felt the burning coffee that belonged to the other person seep through the sleeve of his sweater.

            “I’m so sorry.”

Luhan just looked at the huge brown stain on his sleeve not bothering to look at Ji Hyun, who covered in shock. “Watch where you’re going!” He took of his sweater and rolled the sleeve of his shirt.  There was a big red mark on his arm when the coffee touched him and he felt the slight pain.

“I’m so sorry, Luhan, I’ll pay for your dry cleaning?” Ji Hyun suggested weakly smiling.

“No, I’m fine,” Luhan tried his best not to sound irritated by Ji Hyun’s dumbfounded tone. Making eye contact with Ji Hyun he forgot why he was mad in the first place. “Ji Hyun?”

“Yes?” Ji Hyun stood there a little confused, since Luhan was just staring at her with his doe like eyes. She wasn’t sure if he was going to explode in her face, but either way she was a little frightened by his silence. “Did you want to sit down?” Ji Hyun suggested breaking the awkward silence.

“Yeah,” Luhan breathed, grabbing a chair to sit down. Ji Hyun went to go throw her coffee cup away. For some reason, the minute Luhan made eye contact with Ji Hyun, he felt a strange feeling in his chest. Almost as if it hurt him seeing Ji Hyun.

Ji Hyun adjusted her sweater before taking a seat. Once she did her happy smile faded a little when she noticed Luhan staring at her once again. She touched her cheek. “Do I have something on my face?”

Luhan shook his head. “No. Um…”

“What?” Ji Hyun started giggling, making Luhan look even more confused than he already was.

            “What?” Luhan said.

“I didn’t think someone who is always on a stage would be so quiet,” Ji Hyun giggled. “You seem like a very awkward person than how you do when you’re performing.”

“You watch my performances?” Luhan said surprised.

“I’ve watched only a couple, but I do read your reviews and every review I’ve read has a picture of you looking so focused,” Ji Hyun admitted, she looked a little embarrassed of this confession feeling like she was some crazed fan. “I guess you could say I’m a little fan.”  The confession of actually being one of Luhan’s fans, Ji Hyun felt a little uncomfortable, since Luhan didn’t respond in any way. “So, I guess all your fans must be international?”

“What?” Luhan said a little confused. “What do you mean ‘international’?”

“It’s just that, no one has exactly been chasing you or there haven’t been any paparazzi.”

“Oh, yeah, the paparazzi stopped chasing me around when I turned 16. They don’t really care about me anymore.”

“Why not? You’re Xi Luhan, child prodigy, best friend to the piano,” Ji Hyun stated trying to make her voice sound deep. She couldn’t help but laugh, making Luhan feel that strange feeling in his chest again. The way she laughed, made him feel weak, a good weak.

“Ji Hyun, do you remember anything from when you were ten?” Luhan asked.

Ji Hyun shook her head slowly. “Not really, I was so young and plus why should I? I was never really an ambitious ten year old.”

“It’s just… Didn’t you make any friends or anything?”

“I remember having friends and all, but they weren’t my best friends.”

“You didn’t have a best friend?”

“No?” Ji Hyun replied. “Why do you want to know if I had any best friends?”

“Nothing just seems like you would have a lot of friends, that’s all.” Luhan felt a little nosey asking Ji Hyun all these questions, but he wanted to know. Was she the Ji Hyun he knew?

“You seem like you would be Mr. Popular yourself, plus you have all those friends,” Ji Hyun said referring to Jessica, Kris, Sehun, Lay, and Kai.

            “Oh yeah them,” Luhan muttered.

“They seem like they care about you a lot if they take the time to come to your lessons,” Ji Hyun replied.

            “Yeah, they’re my best friends.”

“If this isn’t so personal, um… How come you don’t have a girlfriend or anyone you like? I mean tons of girls like you for your looks,” Ji Hyun awkwardly asked looking down at the table. She started playing with her thumb nail as she waited for Luhan to answer.

Luhan was trying to think of an answer that wouldn’t sound so cliché to Ji Hyun. While he was thinking of something to say, he thought that maybe he should just tell Ji Hyun the truth in hopes that she would remember. If she was the right Ji Hyun in the first place. Luhan knew that this might not even be the Ji Hyun he was looking for. With the little information, he got from Ji Hyun about her living in Beijing was enough for him to think it was her. Why not just confess to her?

“I just don’t like anyone,” Luhan blurted out coming out completely by accident. “I think that being in a relationship might ruin things for my career.”

Ji Hyun felt awkward at that answer and turned looking out the window. “It’s snowing.”

Luhan turned his head the same direction as Ji Hyun, she was right it was snowing. He looked at Ji Hyun, but she was still looking at the snow falling. “What about you? Do you have a boyfriend?”

Ji Hyun looked back at Luhan, she didn’t think she would be asked that question, but it was only fair to answer since she asked Luhan. “Nope.”

            “Do you like anyone?”

Ji Hyun thought for a moment, tapping her fingers on the table. “Well… There was this boy I knew, I don’t really remember much; I just remember that I cared about him a lot.”

“What was his name?” Luhan asked nervously.

“I don’t remember,” Ji Hyun admitted. Luhan was about to say something, when Ji Hyun’s phone started ringing in her purse. “Hold on.” Ji Hyun started fishing through her purse, when she found her phone, she quickly answered it pressing the phone to her ear. “Hello?”

            “Hello, Ji Hyun?”

            “Who’s this?” Ji Hyun asked.

“It’s Baekhyun, I was wondering if you wanted to get some lunch?”

Ji Hyun couldn’t help but blush as a smile crept onto her face. Just the sound of Baekhyun’s voice made her happy. “Uh, yeah, I’ll meet you exactly at 12. Is that okay?”

“That’s perfect,” Baekhyun replied. “I’ll see you later, okay?”

“Okay.” Ji Hyun hung up the phone and couldn’t help but squeal at that thought of her and Baekhyun having lunch together. She was completely oblivious to Luhan still being there.

“Was that your boyfriend?” Luhan teased, yet hoping she wouldn’t say yes.

“No, it was just one of my friends,” Ji Hyun replied. Ji Hyun placed her phone back into her purse and smiled at Luhan. “Well, I guess uh, I better go.”

“Uh yeah me too,” Luhan rose from his seat and grabbed his sweater which was starting to get the stench of coffee because of the huge stain.

“I’ll, see you tomorrow then?” Ji Hyun told Luhan.

            “What?”

“Ha Joon’s lessons,” Ji Hyun reminded.

“Oh right, yeah see you tomorrow,” Luhan replied.

“If you want I can give you money for the dry cleaning for your sweater,” Ji Hyun suggested.

“No, I’m fine, I’ll probably just throw it away.”

“You shouldn’t, you look good in it, when it’s not stained with coffee,” Ji Hyun admitted, she started smiling again, making Luhan feel the strange feeling again. “Well, I’ll see you tomorrow. Bye Luhan.” Ji Hyun made her way past him and walked out of the coffee shop. Luhan just watched her leave, realizing that the strange feeling wasn’t going away.

Mrs. Hwan was walking around the department store looking for another dress to wear for a banquet, her and Mr. Hwan were invited to. While, she was looking through the endless of dresses, Ha Joon was stuck with her again. He was looking through each of the dresses playing with the soft fabrics. As he was following his mother around he was puffing out his cheeks and deflating them by slapping both his cheeks at the same time.

“Momma, are you done yet?” Ha Joon asked for the hundredth time.

“Almost, behave,” Mrs. Hwan replied. Mrs. Hwan was skimming through more dresses she looked up for a brief moment and recognized something. She looked back up and gasped at the sight.

“Momma, what are you looking at?” Ha Joon tilted his head a little to the side confused by his mother’s sudden look at her face.

“Ji In? Is that you?”

Mrs. Hwan felt the need to just grab Ha Joon and run, but instead she stood up straight and forced a smile. “Yes, it’s nice to see you Soo Jung, unless you would prefer for me to call you Mrs. Xi, but since your husband deceased it’s alright to call you by your first name right?”

Mrs. Xi felt a little stiff and just smiled ignoring Mrs. Hwan’s comment. Mrs. Xi looked down at Ha Joon. “Is this your grandson?”

“No.” Mrs. Hwan put her hands on Ha Joon’s shoulders. “This is my son.”

“Your son? Isn’t your son in America? I thought you had two daughters and one son?” Mrs. Xi said.

“You thought wrong, I have two sons and one daughter,” Mrs. Hwan said rather defensive by Mrs. Xi’s thought. “My oldest son is in America.”

“What a shame, I’m pretty sure you miss him.”

“I do, but he loves to get away from his family.”

“What about your daughter? Is she still living here?” Mrs. Xi asked.

“Yes, she’s attending college right now,” Mrs. Hwan said. “Why?”

“I was wondering,” Mrs. Xi grabbed a small card from her purse. “If Ji Hyun would like to work for me at my bridal shop. She could be a dress consultant there.”

“Why are you offering her a job?” Mrs. Hwan asked bitterly.

Mrs. Xi’s smile faded and she looked down at the card. “I just thought maybe I should help after what you and your husband have done for me and my son.”

“You don’t have to do anyone any favors.”

Mrs. Xi looked back up at Mrs. Hwan trying her best to keep calm. “I just want Ji Hyun to work for me, I think it would be nice. Don’t you think?”

“Fine.” Mrs. Hwan snatched the card away from Mrs. Xi. “Thank you.”

“Alright then, just tell Ji Hyun to give me a call and I’ll schedule an appointment to see her.” Mrs. Xi felt the tension rise as they just stood there. “Well, it was nice seeing you again, goodbye.”

“Who was that mommy?” Ha Joon asked Mrs. Hwan when Mrs. Xi was fully out of sight.

“No one. Just a friend.” Mrs. Hwan let go of Ha Joon’s shoulders and grabbed her dresses from the rake. “Lets go pay for these.”

A/N: Yay!!! I'm back to updating!!! I thought really hard before writing this chapter, since I'm still in the process of how I'm going to end the story and everytime I start writing a chapter, I always get another idea I want to add.
Anways, Mrs. Hwan and Mrs. Xi, are just a huge question mark, huh? And yes, Ji Hyun and Ha Joon do have a brother and yes he is another Exo member! Can any of you guess which one?
