Kim Myungsoo 

Myungsoo is a 22 year old struggling college student who dreams about becoming a musician. He spends his nights making money playing the guitar and singing at a local cafe called Angel Beats. At the age of 6, Myungsoo lost his parents in a car accident, but luckily best friend, Seo Haneul, decided to bring him home one day from school and ever since he's lived with her family. However after their break-up, Myungsoo decided to move out and live his life not bothering to look back at his former happiness. 

Seo Haneul

Haneul is a 22 year old florist who lives her life to the fullest. Although she has the potential to go to college, she decided to just skip college and work. Even though Haneul comes from a well-off family she is still kind and curteous to those around her. Haneul also harbors some feelings for ex-boyfriend, Myungsoo even after they broke up, but tries her best to hide them. She also knows many things about flowers such as their meanings. 

Lee Sungyeol

Sungyeol was a classmate of Haneul and Myungsoo's when they were in high school and was a good friend of Myungsoo's before he died. Stuck in an unhappy afterlife due to having unfinished business, he helps Haneul so she won't end up like him. When Haneul meets him again after so many years, she is surprised that the happy choding she once knew is now melancholy and somber. 

Hwang Taegi

Taegi is a 21 year old waitress that works at Angel Beats. She went to high school with Myungsoo, Haneul, and Sungyeol but was a grade younger than them. While Taegi is head-strong, she feels threatened by Haneul because she believes that both Myungsoo and Haneul have lingering feelings for each other, which causes her to hide her feelings for him.
