Chapter 41 – The ….

Recap:

You took your last look at the night sky

You shut your eyes

Your eyes fluttered open and you could feel warmth again

“Oh, you’re up..?” Jaejoong said in happiness

“Jaejoong..?” your head turned to the side to where he was

“Yeah, it’s me.  Are you feeling better?” he asked in concern

You nodded slowly “What… happened?” you scanned the room

You were in his room. And it seemed like he got a single one too

“I think you passed out while on the way to the resort…”

“Oh right..”

“How long did I pass out?” you asked

“I don’t know. Maybe 3 hours...” he answered

“3 hours? What time is it now?”

“3 in the morning”

“What?! Did you.. possibly.. waited the whole night for me to wake up?”

He answered with a weak smile “Yeah..”

You quickly sat up but then winced when the pain came rushing in

“Ya ya ya! You just got frozen out there, don’t move so rashly!” he scolded

“Sorry… But, aren’t you tired?” you asked in concern

He shook his head “As long as you’re okay, I’m okay” he smiled weakly

You couldn’t help but to feel guilty after what you had done to him

“Thanks, Jaejoong-ah” you smiled “I didn’t break anything did I?” you asked

He chuckled “I don’t think so. Maybe some bruises”

“Oh good” you sighed in relief

“How did you get there anyway?”

“Umm.. Well I…”

Should I tell him about Jessica? I mean, she tried to kill me…

“I fell” you said

“You fell?” he wasn’t convinced by your answer

You nodded “Yeah, I fell”

He looked at you deeply “You’re lying” he said

You sighed “I really fell, Jaejoong. Let’s not make this an argument, please?”

“Fine” he gave in

 

“..Hyeri” he called

“Yeah?”

“What happened..? You know… Between us?”

“We…” you tried to search for an answer

“Did you really leave me for Donghae?” he asked another question

You couldn’t answer it

“Hyeri, look me straight in my eyes…” he held your chin and turned your head to face him

“Do you still love me?”

You couldn’t look at his eyes, you bit your lip “I can’t answer that..”

“Why? Why can’t you?”

“Because I can’t!”

 “Well what’s the reason?! Donghae?!”

“No, it’s not him! Jaejoong, I just can’t tell you!”

“Just tell me!!” he insisted

“I can’t!! If I tell you Hyemi will-!” you quickly stopped when you realize what you were saying

“Hyemi?” he raised an eyebrow “What’s wrong with Hyemi?”

“N-nothing…”

This couldn’t work out…

If you choose Jaejoong, you lose Hyemi. And if you choose Hyemi, you lose Jaejoong

“I’m sorry, Jaejoong. I can’t… I just can’t be with you anymore” tears were welling up in your eyes

“What..?” he was confused by what you just said

“I’m sorry” You got up and ran towards the door

But he caught your arm first “Hyeri!” he turned you around and gripped your arms

“Why can’t you be with me?!” he searched for your eyes “Tell me the reason why!!”

“Because I can’t!! Please don’t make me say the reason. Because I can’t..” you lowered your head as tears started flowing down your cheeks

“If there’s a problem, I’m sure we can work it out” he cupped you face “Right?”

You started crying again as you shook your head “No, Jae. I don’t think we can”

“Can you just give it a chance?” he asked with a hint of hope “Please..?”

You both gazed at each other

Then he moved closer and closer as you close your eyes slowly

Then you felt his lips on top of yours

And at that very moment…

Everything didn’t matter anymore

You didn’t want to change anything…

You didn’t want to end that kiss…

So warm... So sweet...

You wanted to stop time just right at that moment…

Because everything wasperfect

 

Jaejoong deepened the kiss, and the kiss turned more passionate

You didn’t want to stop… You wished the kiss would last forever…

 

But the kiss ended after a couple of minutes since you and Jaejoong were out of breath

You both stared into each other’s eyes and you both knew

You loved each other

 

But life isn’t always fair…

You knew this couldn’t work out. Not unless you want Hyemi back safe and sound

 

“I... have to go, Jaejoong. I’m sorry” you pushed away his hands that were cupping your face and went straight to the door

“W-Wait! Hyeri!” he caught your arm again

“I-I thought..-“

“Sorry Jaejoong. I’m really sorry. But this just can’t work out…” you shook your head as you had your head hung low

“No! Don’t say that! It CAN work out!” you saw tears flowing down his cheeks

“Jaejoong-ah… Just…” you looked into his eyes as you hand reached for his cheek

His look was confused, he couldn’t find out what was the problem was

You sighed “Give me time, okay?”

He looked at your eyes

He didn’t want to wait anymore

But since it was for your sake, he had to agree

He hesitated but then nodded slowly

Then you left the room

What am I gonna do..?  you thought to yourself as you walked down the hallway

I hope Jessica doesn’t find out about the kiss..
