Chapter 20: Sing, Sing a song.
A book of debt
I woke up, past midnight, with the movements on the bed. I turned, trying to get a view what’s there. A manly figure sat beside me.
“Sorry, did I wake you up?” Dongwoon husky voice broke the silent night. Dongwoon was sitting near the headboard of the queen size bed.
“You alright?” I asked, worried, sitting up.
“Just can’t sleep,” Dongwoon replied simply, looking down at his hands fidgeting. He must be still in shock of his fight.
“Is it because of the fight?” I asked, trying to confirm my guesses.
“Uh-huh,”
“Come,” I flipped open the blanket, inviting him to sleep. He lay down beside me, his eyes not closed.
“Sleep,” I whispered. Dongwoon closed his eyes obediently. I made an effort to hum a lullaby, coaxing him to sleep. Soon, his breath evened. He’s asleep.
“Night,” I kissed him on the forehead. My back against him, I fell asleep eventually. During the night, he pulled me closer to his body, and I snuggled in his embrace.
The next morning, sun light poured through the large windows- a sign to wake up. I opened my eyes to find myself alone. Dongwoon must have left and back to his bedroom.
“Morning, Mdm Kim!” I greeted Mdm Kim as I walked out of the bathroom.
“Omo, Yoora, why are you here?” Mdm Kim was taken aback by my appearance.
“Sorry, I stayed for the night without notice.” I apologized.
“It’s alright, but did something happen?” She asked. Should I tell her the dangerous occurrence yesterday?
“Hmmm…” I was reluctant to say the truth.
“She came to ask questions on the tutorials, school work.” Dongwoon appeared at the right time.
“So late at night?” Mdm Kim raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah, it has to be handed up today,” Dongwoon nodded, smiling. “What’s for breakfast?”
“Pancakes,” Mdm Kim answered, no longer suspicious.
I gave Dongwoon a thumb up, a job nicely done!
He grinned as he headed for the kitchen.
“Please don’t tell Mdm Kim about yesterday,” Dongwoon requested, once we are alone in the car.
I nodded, if I was him, I did do the same thing too.
