“Please remember to return all the favors, darling.”

These were the last words that my mother left me.

I poked the book that had made my life so tough. This book, recorded all favors that my mother owed to others, be it in terms of money or as an act of kindness to my mother. All her life, she had been helped and helped others.

Being in a single parent family, my mother was very dear to me. So, no matter what she asked, I will try my best to fulfill them.

In order to clear the debts, I took up all sorts of jobs, went to all sorts of places. To me, it is like reliving my mother’s life. Though it’s hard, but with every single debt cancelled, it would be like a burden lifted off my shoulders.

“FIGHTING! You can do this!” I mumbled to myself. I flipped open the book, looking for the next favor to return. It reads:

Today, I went for an interview. The manager wasn’t very please with my resume and told me there isn’t any job the company could give me. I was so disheartened. Then, there sat a young man who had the same sad face with me. I had to cheer him up.

“Hey, young man, don’t be discouraged. If you fail this interview, there would always be another opportunity.” I told him. He looked at me, surprised.

“If you done something wrong, what will you do?” He asked.

“Apologize sincerely of course. If you really are sorry, just say. If you did something wrong, amend it, do something about it. Cheer up, life is always full of changes.”

I went off, leaving the young man to think. The next day, I saw him again.

“Hey madam!” He shouted. “You dropped something!”

“Ah, thank you,” I smiled at him. “Aren’t you the young man from yesterday?”

“Oh, annyeong haseyo!” He bowed politely. “Thank to your advice yesterday, my problems are solved. Madam, are you still looking for a job?”

“Yes, young man.”

“Why not you be a housekeeper at my house?”

With that, he dragged me to his house and gave me a job. Turns out he is the young master of the company I interviewed. Thanks to him, I managed to get this stable job to support my darling.

I smiled, there are still such nice people in this world. I searched for the name that my mother is so grateful for.

“Son Dae Ho,” I whispered the name.
