Rae In loved to dance. She was at a friend’s birthday party, dancing with anyone who would dance with her. It wasn’t about the alcohol and the cake. For her it was all about dancing. Sitting down for a moment, she noticed a hot guy walking toward her.
“Hi,” he held out his hand, smiling. “Would you like to dance?”
Rae In grinned at him. “Sure! I’d love to.” She let him pull her up to her feet, straightening her shirt as soon as she was standing. “So, shall we?” She grinned at him again, and he led her out into the crowd to dance. The dance was upbeat and he was very good. Raein realized that she was having more fun with him than she had had with any of the other guys she had danced with. After about four songs, she felt her body begin to slow down. “I need to sit down. Would you like to join me?” She asked him casually.
The guy grinned at her, his face flushed. “Okay. I’ll go grab us some drinks. Is soda okay?”
Rae In nodded. “Sure. Thank you!” She watched him leave, thinking about how nice he was being. She just hoped it wasn’t an act.
The guy returned a few minutes later with two sodas, handing one of them to Rae In before sitting down next to her. “I never introduced myself. I’m Sung Gyu…and you’re beautiful.”
Rae In laughed at the corny pick-up line. “Choi Rae In. What do you like to do?” She started up a conversation and they talked for the rest of the night. She was sad when she had to leave.
When she and her friend got home, her friend turned to Rae In. “You seemed to get along with that guy pretty well. You talked to him all night. Did you give him your number?”
Rae In slapped her leg in frustration. “No, I didn’t. Crap,” she shook her head. “Well…he never asked for it, either.”
Her friend grinned at her. “Maybe someone we know has his number. You should call him.”
Rae In shrugged. “Maybe. We had amazing chemistry. It’s hard to find guys like that.”
Her friend laughed. “Yes, it is. You should take advantage of it.”
“Thanks,” Rae In replied quietly. She began looking through her contacts, thinking of who may have Sung Gyu’s number. She texted a few people, finally finding one that had his number. She texted him right away.
‘Hi,Sunggyu. This is Choi Rae In. We met last night at a party. I got your number from a mutual friend. I can delete this number, if you want and never bother you again.’
She got a reply almost immediately. ‘You’re not bothering me. We can talk, just like we did at the party last night.’
Rae In grinned. ‘Cool! I’d like to talk to you more, Sung Gyu.’
‘Yay!’ He continued to talk to her and they spoke for most of the day, off and on. That night, Rae In went to bed very happy. The next morning, she saw that she had a text from Sung Gyu, telling her that he hoped she had a nice day.
They continued to talk for a while and by the end of the second week, Sung Gyu asked Rae In out on a date. She was very nervous while getting ready, but when he picked her up, everything felt so right.
They went out to a nice restaurant. They enjoyed themselves, talking and laughing together. At the end of dinner, Sung Gyu opened the door of the car for her and drove her home. When they were in front of her apartment, she smiled at him. “Do you mind if I kiss you?”
Sung Gyu smiled at her shyly. “I wouldn’t mind at all. Do you mind if I sing for you, gorgeous?”
She shook her head. “Not at all. You first, and I’ll reward you for your performance.”
He laughed softly. “Okay.” He took her hand, leading her out of the car. He took her hand once again and they began dancing. He pulled her close and sang into her ear softly as they danced. He had a very nice voice, and it was a perfect end to the evening…almost. When he pulled away, she pushed him against the car, kissing him, as promised.
He smiled at her afterward. “Goodnight, gorgeous. I had a wonderful time.”
“I did, too,” Rae In kissed him softly again. “Next time we can go dancing.”
