“I-I’ll go take a bath. Stay as you please.” I told the boys as I grabbed my towel and bathrobe entering the bathroom.

When I came out of the bathroom, the boys had already left. Jesper had dozed off on the sofa. I found a letter on the table as I walked up front.

We are really sorry for whatever happened were due to our inconsiderate acts. We really think you ought to know the truth even though hyung didn’t want you to be mad at us and told us to let it be just the way it is. We know it doesn’t make any sense at all but we know you have been suffering ever since. We apologize for not letting you know earlier thinking you could have lived happily as you wouldn’t have any contacts with us anymore.

I briefed through the content and left the opened letter on the table. I carried Jesper and placed him on the bed, pulling a duvet over his tiny torso. I lay myself down on the other side of the bed, rejecting all the thoughts in my head. Let me run away from everything tonight, I thought as I closed my eyes and let myself drift away in the plain tranquil darkness.

6.32 a.m.

I was awakened by the soft noise and the light rays blasting out from the television that is right at the end of the bed. Baby boy is awake. Well, he probably got that habit from me. When I was a kid, I would wake up and watch cartoon at 6 o’clock in the morning. I hummed with some grunting noise and pulled the blanket over my head to hide from the light that was shining. I extended my hand to pull Jesper closer to me, hugging him close like a pillow. I obviously didn’t bring my teddy bear out to travel but even though I am already 24, I still can’t sleep without my teddy. Jesper had become a pretty good substitution at the moment.

I could hear the ending song of Miles from Tomorrowland played and followed on by the Disney advertisements in a different language from what I always hear at home. I stirred awake, pulling Jesper to a morning kiss as I sat up straight mumbling good morning as a reply when he chuckled to the morning kiss wishing me a good morning. I stretched my hand to the side table and blindly touched everything to search for my phone. Feeling it, I grabbed it and pulled it to my chest. Unlocking it, I looked at the time. 7:58. Almost 8. Fine. I the wifi and threw my phone on the bed. Slipping my feet into the oversized hotel slippers, I entered the bathroom to wash myself up.

Brushing my teeth, I became rather awake and whatever happened last night burst in my mind, oh, great. I furrowed my eyebrows, frowning a little and started sorting out all the inputs from last night. I got myself a clear mind and left the bathroom pretty relaxingly with a clear decision made. I dressed myself and Jesper up decently before leaving the hotel room to the hospital.

A few days had passed with the exact same routine. Baekhyun had been transferred from the ICU to a normal ward after the extubation and when he was able to breathe properly by himself.

It was Saturday already. 2 more days to leaving this country which we had not visited much even though we had already been here for 6 days. I took an apple from the fruit basket and washed it before entering the ward again peeling the apple skin. This celebrity received a little too many apples over these few days by all his colleagues and friends. I doubt he could even finish them so I decided to digest it with his son alongside his parents who would come and go after his condition became stable.

I would say, pretty much nothing changed. EXO members still had their schedules. I didn’t remember anyone else from EXO dropping by after the first two days. I did get their phone calls once in awhile, though. I stayed throughout the days, either slacking on the couch, reading some novels I saved in my phone or spontaneously writing on my blog. Jesper would sit on the chair beside the bed and stare at his dad for as long as he could, mumbling about things his dad probably couldn’t understand at all or learn his father’s mother tongue with the iPad I brought along.

Children being children, despite the tiny brain capacity, they are able to pick up new things pretty fast. Much to my surprise, my little piggie was able to speak and understand pretty legitly already. At least the boy had got some linguistic genes from me and not like his grandparents or his dad. I didn’t exactly control his learning curve. I let him cope on his own, only answering him when he came to me for help or practice. Living in my country, Korean was just an extra knowledge. I wouldn’t want to force him to do it. I was glad (more like relieved), however, that he independently learnt the language due to his goal to surprise his dad later when he woke up. I gave him the encouragement and support he needed and left him to do everything he wanted.
