Wine & Revelations

Weddings & CO

I stopped on my track for a few seconds as I realized which table I was placed on for the dinner, and almost thought of running away before I took a breath and confidently walked towards my tablemates that had already took place.

- Annyeonghaseyo…  I bowed slightly to the four men and widened my eyes as Jin Hyuk and Chang wook and Ki-clown quickly stood up to salute me indicating me to sit while Ji-Hoe was lazily sitting and staring at me. This meant only two things. First:

- Omo Oppa, I see you’re very good at keeping secrets…I ironically stated. Second, they already considered me as their friend’s wife, meaning no matter how much detail he did gave or not;  they clearly didn’t think that we had a single chance of countering this union. Meaning I was basically screwed and even more depressed.

- What secret? I heard Sue’s smoky voice behind my back.

- Nothing at all,  I answered her instantly still staring at him. Before taking a seat soon followed by her.

- Where have you been, I was looking for you- Annyeonghaseyo…bowed slightly Sunny before taking place too.

- Where is Hana? I suddenly realized looking alarmed and waiting for Sunny’s explanation as I caught Jin Hyuk taking an interest.

- Don’t worry…she ran into some Chinese businessman she apparently know from New York…she’ll be here soon.  I put back myself confortable in the chair.

- You look mad…what did Soohyuk told you? Asked Sue.

- Pretty much nothing beside the fact  that we should’ve not came and that I looked like a …I lazily said as the men widened their eyes.

- What the fu- said Sue already standing up, as I had to drag her back.

- Calm down, ordered her Sunny. Soohyuk would never say something like that especially not to you Gongju… she finished eyeing me and waiting for an explanation.

- He didn’t say it like that obviouslyI’m just summering up…

- What the hell is wrong with the dude, you guys are not even married yet and he’s already telling you how to dress…now it was my turn to widen my eyes at her comment and I couldn’t help but catch his eyes. I cleared my throat.

- Don’t be mad because of him he’s just being protective and jealous…added Sunny comforting me.

- I’m not mad because of that Sunny, I’m mad because he’s right. We should’ve not came here in the first place.

- Why? Ok now you got ME bad, how many times shall we speak about this, the deserved it…ok she ing deserved it-

- Yes Sue SHE deserved it ‘she’, Mino didn’t…we slightly forgot about him while we were blind by our thirst of revenge…we omitted that he was our friend too, he didn’t deserve that.  She stood silent for a moment before calmly adding.

- He’s not my friend. I looked at her. I stopped considering him as a friend since that London trip, and even more when he decided to marry that . So maybe, maybe… he slightly deserves it.

- Sue, we don’t know what happened in London…and-

- In case you haven’t noticed I’m sitting centimetres away and it’s my brother you’re talking about cut this time gently Chang wook looking at her meaning something deeper than it appeared but I couldn’t sense what.

- In case you haven’t noticed I’m having a conversation with my friend, I would appreciate if you could at least pretend not to hear it. She dared to reply and I feared her wild side threatening to come out.

- What the hell is wrong with that brat, who the hell you think you’re talking to-

- Oppa please…I begged him to stop in order to prevent a third world war to happen. After staring at me for a few seconds he finally surrendered. Funny thing is that I didn’t threaten him at all, I genuinely asked him.

What’s wrong with you, you didn’t have to talk to him like- started Sunny soon being cut in her talk.

-  I don’t care! I don’t care ok?  I don’t care about Shinni, I don’t care about Mino I don’t care about- she paused for a few seconds to look at Chang Wook Oppa before adding: - anythingI don’t care about anything And neither should you, she said this time eying me. Because it’s too late. We’re here. We already did it.  We did ruin her wedding and I am surely not going to regret it. First, because I hate regrets. Second, because I hate regrets, third because Hana can’t KNOW about your regrets or the fact that we actually hurt Mino unless you want to hurt her then I would care…do you want to hurt her, do you want to hurt Hana?

- Of course not Sue, what kind of silly question is that? I answered as she was pressuring me.

- Good. So get your freaking together and throw away that stupid guilt of yours away before she comes back. She ordered me before adding: – as far as we’re concerned tonight we’re mean, shallow and selfish es, am I clear? She talked to both of us.

- Don’t look at me like that, I already picked up my side or shall I remind you that my dear husband is ignoring me for the trouble we’ve created? Not that I really care anyway…

- Is he? Well he can go and do himself… What about you Gongju, what do you say?

- I need a drink.

- Is that supposed to answer my question?

- You’re right. Hana can’t know.

- Good.

- But I still need a drink.

- No problem darling I’ll get you a drink for once I’m not the one begging. She said her mood already lightening up.

- I’ll have one two… It’ll help me feel better…  added Sunny.

- Okayyyyyy... Said Sue indicating a waiter to come her way.

- I don’t want to feel better, I want to get drunk, I want to get wasted and forget about all that . I said to what Sue and Sunny exchanged a widened look before bursting into a nervous laugh at my comment.

- I like her…you have my benediction…spoke Ki-wong to Ji as I glared.

- Thank you, but I don’t remember asking you…replied the latter before looking at me as I sipped in the martini that was just given to me without waiting for the rest of the table to be served.

- Wait…ordered Hana who almost missed the waiter who was leaving when she arrived but still managed to steal a gin tonic that was left on his tray. – O.M.G guys… coming here was such a good idea… you’ll never guess to whom I ran to, I mean it was a good idea beside that freaking picture moment, God that was damn awkward don’t you think? …She said and I avoided her look… at least she didn’t seem to have any clue about anything. But was that even surprising?

- Who? Asked Sue.

- Who what?

- Who did you ran into? Asked Sue. That was a smart move.

- Oh yes! Wu Yifan…from my business analyse class in Columbia… she answered all thrilled.

- Huh…yeah who?

- Seriously, Sue you hooked up with that guy, how can you forget about him?

- That wouldn’t be the first time…added quickly Sunny.

- WHAT THE F- yelled Sue as I couldn’t help but burst into a laugh soon followed by Sunny as Chang-Wook choked hard on his drink while Jin-hyuk cleared his throat, Ki-wong laughed and Ji rolled his eyes at the girly talk. – You think it’s funny? What the hell is wrong with you? She pressed pinching my arm. – Yah, she spoke this time eyeing Hana and Sunny. I would appreciate if you could mind the tablemates here.

- Oh what happened to ‘I don’t care about anything’? Spoke this time Chang-Wook freezing the atmosphere. I frowned. Something was wrong, I can’t say that I know him very well but he wasn’t being himself right there. That was not his style, he’s usually way above that and the way Ji sent him that funny look only confirmed my doubts. They stared at each other for another 15 seconds before she cut the stare – why are we sitting here again? whose idea was it ? She asked looking towards Hana and Sunny as no one else than Chang wook himself answered:

- Mine. She looked at him.

- Yours?

- Yes. I thought it would be a nice idea to learn more about each other as I have the feeling we’ll get to spend more time around in the future…but I guess I was wrong. He said meaning more than it appeared and obviously still bitter about the previous argument. I widened my eyes at his hint looking for Ji’s eyes that frowned at his friend and feared that mine would sense it. Hana obviously didn’t pick up as she knows about my current setting up drama situation, neither Sue did luckily and I wondered why as she’s very quick with those things, as for Sunny unfortunately: she didn’t hear it this way…

- Huh did I miss something? Why we would have to spend more time together is there another wedding being planned that I don’t know about? Oh no please no more weddings… joked Sunny as I cleared my throat taking back my martini and drank it in one go.

- Yah yah yah…slow down on the drinking…last time I checked you had already made quite an impression among the guests, no need to add the stripping part… now all of them widened their eyes except for Ki wong Sue and Sunny who burst into another laugh.

- How do you know that? Asked Sunny.

- What?

- That she strips her clothes after drinking…

- Oh god…I couldn’t help but mumble out loud.

- So who is Wu Ifan? Finally spoke Jin Hyuk for the first time of the evening and I felt like hugging him, as he obviously wanted to drift the conversation towards somewhere else.

- Huh…yes…answered evasively Hana before clearing . Wu Ifan or Kris as he was called in the US…

- Wait a second Blond hot Canadian Chinese Kris? Asked this time Sunny.

- Oh that Kris? Spoke this time Sue. Hon’…I never hooked up with him; he had a huge crush on you! God how can you be so…whatever…

- On me? That’s not -

- Crush? I irked. He was basically in love with her; the boy resisted Sue while being drunk…that’s basically scientifically impossible… Sue glared at me.

- He did? Asked Hana.  Ok the dude he’s gay…she stated as a matter of fact and we laughed as Sue rolled her eyes.

 - He’s not. Trust me I know. He’s INTO YOU, that’s it. Stated this time Sue.

- Oh my god… she thought for a second as she had realized something.  Oh my godthat’s a very very very good thing to know…she said all happy and Sue and I exchanged a look. That’s the thing with Hana. She’s pretty much clueless when it comes to men not because she’s lacking of anything but mostly because she never ever gives a damn. She’s got always thousands priorities before men. Her showing an interest to one of them is simply miraculous.

- Huh why would you say that…asked Sunny. Do you… do you like him?

- I changed my mind. I don’t want to know who this Wu ifan is. I am not interested. Spoke solemnly Jin-hyuk.  I frowned again. Is he...? No, that’s imp-

- Oh look at that…our Jincula is jealous…spoke Ji and that was it we all burst into a big laugh except for Hana and Jin-hyuk who glared. Jincula? So they’re well aware of the vampire assumptions running around about him.

- Trust me. You’re mistaken. You are interested. Spoke Hana to her boss totally ignoring the joke made by Ji-hoon.

- How come I didn’t see him, when I checked on you were talking with an old bold man…stated Sunny.

- Exactly. Who you saw was Wu Guanqiu…

- Wu Guanqiu? As Wanxiang group Wu Guanqiu, as the billionaire who started his company with 500$ in Hangzhou? That Wu Guanqiu? Stated dramatically Jin-hyuk indeed very  very interested.

- Yes that Wu Guanqiu…

- Can you explain me how my assistant who’s barely 24 managed to talk to him when I’ve been begging you for 2hours to introduce me to him? Asked Jin-hyuk to Chang wook that seemed to be impressed by Hana skills and quite amused by the whole situation.

- I don’t know … I swear  I didn’t make it up man… he has a strong disregard towards people under 45, today for the first time he actually looked at me which is a big improvement already…he only speaks to my father every time I see him and totally ignores me…I don’t understand how she did…how did you managed to talk to him?

- Well let’s say his son having a crush on me might have helped a little…spoke Hana with that victory grin and pointing at herself.

- Oh lord…spoke Jin-hyuk.

- Ohhh so Kris is the son of the bold guy I saw you speaking with you guys are dying to be introduced to? Spoke Sunny.

- Yes…

- OH DEAR LORD…spoke another time Jin-hyuk and I wondered if he was ok.

- You have an appointment with him Tuesday morning…he said he’d love to know more about our hotels projects in the country…She added all proud and I thought he was going trough a mental breakdown. – Sir …sir…did you hear me? OPPA… she shouted as he snapped back.

- Hana-yah…where have you been all these years…? He asked seriously and his friend burst into a big fat laugh as my friends and I looked awkwardly at each other. What the hell is wrong with him? Is he drunk?

- I was studying sir…

- That’s right…it does make sense…remind me to raise your salary on Monday…

- You can’t do that. It’s illegal I’m still an intern. But there’s something else I’m interested in…

- Anything you say…

- Make sure to remember it when I remind you about it… she spoke with that meaningful look he took time to study before she added, - meanwhile let’s have toast to our conquest of China…

- My company is already very well established in china, I don’t see why I should raise my glass to that…spoke Ji-hoon as a waiter was pouring red wine that was going perfectly with the course.

- He’s right, spoke Ki-wong. – Do you want to raise our glass to you and your dear future wi-

- To Jin-ha! I shouted before the clown could finish. To an amazing team and amazing projects both in Korea and overseas…I mumbled to what everyone raised their respective glasses and lookingfunnily at me. I was tempted to kick the clown under the table but first, I wasn’t sure to reach him, second he wasn’t the real responsible. His friend was for not being able to shut his damn mouth.

- Hummm… the wine is so good…spoke Sunny. - Don’t you think Sue? She asked as the latter choke on her drink. I frowned at her.

- Are you ok?

- Yes…yes…she answered me before she cleared . – Why, why would you ask me that? She replied to Sunny with a few suspicious notes hidden in her voice but clear enough for me to hear it.

- Huh maybe because you’re the wine specialist here…replied Hana not oblivious to her weird reaction.

- Oh…oh yes of course…she cleared again. It’s very good. ‘Something’ was weird I thought as I sipped again in my glass not knowing in that moment that the secret behind her behaviour took place in that exact flavour as I felt like I’ve tasted it before.

- It’s from Wook-I’s domain, these ones are from his personal production…spoke Ki-wong as I felt Sue tensing at my left.

- Oh, you produce wine? That’s interesting Oppa, I didn’t know that…commented Sunny.

- The local wine production is actually a very lucrative business…Asian have become huge wine consumers over the past years, soon european wine production won’t be enough to sustain the rising demand…spoke Hana soon corrected by her boss.

- Wook-I doesn’t produce locally; he’s got a land actually in Italy where he produces his wine…

- You do? Asked Hana.

- Yes, nothing big, just a small land in La Pallanteria, an island in the south of Sicilia…he spoke out of modesty, and that was it. Realization. Hitting me hard.

- Oh my god…I mumbled out loud as I couldn’t keep the shock for myself.

- La Pallanteria…mumbled this time Hana for herself. – I think I’ve heard about it before…she spoke this time eying Sue who was currently looking for a way to run away, kill herself, and burry her own body in the epicentre of earth so that nobody could find it.

- Wait a second…spoke Sunny this time grabbing the bottle of wine left on the table so that she could check the tag. – Yes right, that’s the bottle you brought us from your trip last summer- spoke Sunny before cutting her own words as she frowned probably because she was slowly taken by the same realisation.

- Last summer? You went there last summer…Chang wook goes there every summer, you guys didn’t meet- spoke this time Ki-clown before as well cutting his own words, as he seemed to have realized something too.

- OH MY GOD…both shouted Sunny and Ki-clown…at the same time as Ji was frowning while Jin didn’t seem to care.

- What is going on? What are you “oh my goding” about I don’t get- oh my godspoke Hana. Ok, even Hana realized it. – Oppa, I know this question might be odd but did you by any chance run into Sue hanging around with a mysterious Italian boy? She genuinely asked as Sue mumbled another ‘oh my god’ and brought her hand into a forehand. Ok forget what I said, clearly she didn’t get it.

- Hana…seriously why are you so dumb when it comes to humans beings…Chang wook Oppa IS THE MYSTERIOUS ITALIAN BOY! Spoke out loud Sunny out of frustration.

- What? She joked before looking dramatically at her then at Sue, then at me and then gasped as she had seen a ghost or a monster, or both actually bringing her two hands to .

- Wait what? What the crap is she- OH MY ING GOD…MAN YOU DID NOT…spoke Ji-hoon.

- You slept with you little brother’s ex girlfriend’s best friend who’s almost ten years younger than you? Spoke this time Jin-hyuk with the most judging tone I’ve ever had the possibility to hear.

- I need a scotch. Finally spoke Sue. Or vodka, do they have vodka here? She asked rhetorically looking for a waiter.

 - I would slightly appreciate if you could keep the lecturing for later, I don’t think it’s legal to go beyond the current humiliation level. Spoke Wook-I to his friend before addressing the waiter who had hard time processing what Sue had just asked him. ‘A vodka shot’. – Make it two. He ordered.

- Make it three…I then asked.

- Make it four…added Ji.

- Oh that, vodka round for the table…spoke Ki-wong as the waiter had that same hilarious expression.

- Sir…this is a wedding, I’m afraid-

- SO WHAT? Shouted this time Sue and Chang- Wook. To what the waiter stood silent for another 5 seconds staring at them then at each one of us and thought probably that we had escaped from a mental institution.

- Yes Sir. I’ll be right back…he said before leaving as a very needed but awkward silence took place within our table, helping me to sort my thought out. ‘Chang wook Oppa’ is the Italian romance she had last summer. Slowly recent and past events suddenly made sense to me. Why she had put up such a mystery around him, why she didn’t want to reveal his identity, she had lured the golden prince himself. That was probably her biggest trophy within her tally and she stabbed her own heart while hunting him. As long as I remembered he’s always been that tortured romantic lost soul no woman could reach. Speaking about reach, he was simply out of it. He was known to have a lot of adventures but only with older women, they had always made it simpler for him. He was a taker, not a giver. His Noonas never took anything they only gave. But then Sue was not a giver either, and certainly not a looser. They probably fought for their territory until their last breath as they conquered each other and she probably ran away before he could see her knocked down on the floor. I could see now why she was overwhelmed on the night we ran into them in the Gangnam lounge and why she was all mysterious and secretive the day after. Why she had let him talk to her this way during Sunny’s wedding, I could finally understand the secretive hints and provocations thrown mostly by him every time we had seen him lately, and tonight was definitely one of them. Now I could finally understand their earlier altercation, now I could finally understand that he was jealous. Now I could finally understand that despite the fact that I thought I had it clear when it came to her story, to their story, there was clearly more than she told me, not because she wanted to hid it but because she, herself couldn’t see it.

- Here you go sir…came back the waiter from a discreet back door probably worried about our reputation. He was nice enough to care but the dress code we had strongly violated had already decided on the reputation. Each one of us had his shot in hand and gulped it right away in one tray. Funny thing is that Sunny, Hana, Sue and myself managed to keep our cool as we’re used to take shots like a boss since Sue had taught us how to; while four men coughed and hacked from the harshness of the alcohol and then widened their eyes at our badass look. Another awkward silent invaded the table as they whole cleared their throats except for Ki-Wong:

- Yah…yah…yah you guys cheated didn’t you? You had water or something…he said grabbing Sunny’s glass that was sitting close to him. He instantly turned his head away as he took a breath in the strong smell of alcohol not doubting us anymore. – Mwoya… he added half annoyed half non-believing what he just witnessed.

- You…you have to breath from your nose Oppa, not from your mouth, that’s the tip… informed innocently Sunny to what Ki-wong nodded ‘Oh I see’ before muting himself into a silence. Nobody dared to say anything and barely ate the dessert. I was lost in my thoughts trying to finally visualize the story of Choi Subin and Chang -

- Oh god no…no… no…I spoke out loud messing up hair as this ridiculous gesture would help brush the crazy thoughts that were taking place all over my head.

- Are you ok? Asked me Sunny as everyone was looking at me and at my weird behavior.

- Yes yes…no actually...no I am not ok...I have Wook-Bin playing on my head…I admitted before putting my hand into my mouth but it was too late Ki-wong had already burst into a laugh with Sunny leading to a general row as Chang wook Oppa seemed to be really really really embarrassed.

- GOD NO NO NO…DAMN SUBIN DID HE HAVE TO BE HIM…I dated his brother for god’s sake…shouted Hana.

- Yah. You and Mino were no longer when this happened and do you want me to head you a MIC I think my parents sitting over there didn’t hear you probably. I planned on being punished for the dress code only not for whom I with…and you whatever images are going on in your head STOP IT…am I clear? S.T.O.P.I.T ...

- Oh because you think that I like what is going on in my head, it’s not my fault you get so chatty when it comes to your ual life, I could manage the details when I didn’t have the face of the guy now you made it quite difficult… I said looking on the opposite side only to laid my eyes on Chang Wook who was coughing hard for what seemed to be the hundredth time of the evening: - God I can’t even look at him…I said looking again on the opposite side as she rolled her eyes.

- with? Asked Sunny. As we gave her that interrogative look. You said “ with” and not “ed with”…she stated sensing something.

- Because you guys are still ing around? Asked this time Ki-wong as we widened our eyes, not by the choice of his word but by the fact that neither did Sue or Chang Wook dared to answer.

- It happened only once…confessed Sue to me to what Chang wook raised en eyebrow. Ok several times actually but-

ME: - oh god…

Ji-hoe: man you need to get checked…

Hana: you must be kidding me…

Jin-Hyuk: this conversation is getting out of control…can we drift the subject?

Ki-wong: I can’t believe you haven’t told ME

Sunny: how long were you planning on hiding it? Wait a sec…did you hook up during my wedding?

Sue: I am not going to justify myself especially not now.

Sunny: so you did hook up during my wedding…

Me: what? When? This is why you suddenly disappeared after Sunny left…

Hana: I can’t believe this…

Ki-wong: cute dongsaeng huh ?

Chang-wook: man shut up…

Ji-hoe: I am really disappointed on you…

- I said S.T.O.P IT! Ordered Sue to what we all obeyed drowning in another silence. We all looked somewhere but at each other and especially not at Chang Wook Oppa or Subin until I realized something again, and gasped at that thought. – What again? Is there anything you forgot to add? I looked at her and hesitated for a second before answering her question.

- You broke the pact…I stated officially and she immediately switched her pissed expression to that innocent look filled with guilty glimpses. God, she could be really cute sometimes.

- O.M.G whispered Sunny.

- I…I…did…did you really…she started to mumble and I laughed.

- I am so taking advantage of this. I added grinning widely.

- What pact? Asked this time Chang wook Oppa clearly showing interest.

- They had both this huge crush on you back in high school and in order to not put in danger their friendship and mostly because they knew they didn’t have a single chance, (clearly they were wrong); they made this pact to not lay their eyes on you…

- You had a crush on me …asked Chang wook slightly embarrassed and I thought for a moment he was speaking to Sue but he seemed to be aware on that already as he was clearly addressing me. I felt my heart skip a beat. God, I couldn’t blame Subin. He was so handsome.

- Oh c’mon it’s not like you never noticed…I said embarrassed too putting a of my hair behind my ear.

- I didn’t know I was that popular…I should’ve paid more attention, I’m sorry if Oppa seemed to be rude back then…he added apologetically. I felt my heart literally melt.

- Oppa don’t worry you were not…I said smiling like a 12 years old girl before whispering to Sue: - god no wonder you couldn’t resist…as she let a small laugh.

- I do hope you over him now. Last thing I need is my future wife fantasying on my best friend. Spoke Ji-hoe coldly as my silly smile instantly faded away.  I looked at him he had that fire look that I couldn’t get much but I didn’t care since my eyes were sending the same fire. He had just betrayed me.

- What…what are you talking about? Spoke Sunny.

- Wife? What kind of silly and absolutely not funny joke is that? Added Sue.

- Oh she hasn’t told you? Oh c’mon baby kitty you shouldn’t blame your friends for their secrets when you haven’t even told them about your new fiancé…he added confidently, that was it. The return of the bastard. He was clearly getting on me. Why? I couldn’t get it. And neither his friends as they were frowning at him.

- Man what the hell…spoke Chang-wook.

- Fiancée? Irked Sunny.

- Gongju what is he-

- We’re getting married. He added just in case he hadn’t made clear cutting Sue’s words. I stood there looking at him. War. That was what he was looking for.

- You... you’re what? Asked Sue.

- Who…who’s getting married I’m not sure to follow here…asked Sunny slightly panicked and I felt sorry, and guilty and most of all mad.

- What the is he talking about Gongju, it’s not even funny. Can you explain what’s going on? Urged me Sue.

- We’re not getting married, it’s just that-

- She’s in denial. He added and that I lost it.

- Yah. I addressed him coldly as he raised an eyebrow as his friends widened their eyes at my bold move. - I don’t know exactly what’s wrong with that piece of trash brain you have but I’m warning you. He crooked his head as I mentioned ‘trash’.  Don’t mess with me, and most important don’t mess with my friends. That’s my and I’ll handle it my way. You don’t get involved-

- Or what? He provoked.

- Or I’ll have a nice conversation with your mother explaining how I am truly happy and excited to become a part of her family, do you want me too do that that? I finished coldly and felt the tension I had put among his friends. I scared them.

- You would never…

- Try me. I dared him to almost ready to stand up.

- Yes she would… she’s got a huge pride issue spoke Hana as I was still staring at him… - Gongju don’t be stupid, don’t you see that he’s getting at you…and you what’s wrong with you? I thought you were gonna help to fix this or are you happy with that whole set up story?

- What set up story? Spoke Sunny. Hana knows about it? I could sense that she was slightly hurt. As for Sue, she muted herself. I was in trouble.

- No…no it’s not what you think…

- Why don’t you stop trying to figure what we think and tell us actually what the is going on? Ordered me Sue. She was angry.

- I…I was assigned to do a Sogeting with him 2 weeks ago. I solemnly stated and their expression got suddenly grave, as it was enough for them to understand.

- You…you what? Dared to ask me Sue hoping that she had heard wrong.

- That’s…that’s impossible…he…Gongju he doesn’t do Sogetings…everyone knows that…spoke this time Sunny as if there would be a logical explanation. Unfortunately there wasn’t, not yet.

- Do they know why? Asked Ji-hoe.

- Because…because you’re above …you’re the most powerful heir of this country once your mother decides you to soget someone it means that…she looked at me this time: - that the deal is already sealed…I could see his silly relieved expression at the explanation not involving a certain story.

- Calm down we’re not there yet Sunny, it’s undeniable that there is a deal going on but it’s not sealed yet…all we have to focus on is how to break it…

- I can’t believe you kept such a big thing from me…said Sue not wanting to hide her resentment anymore and I knew Sunny wasn’t thinking less it’s just that she couldn’t bring herself to say it out loud.

- Sue it’s not-

- Shut up brainy I’m not talking to you- she started but I cut her before.

- Don’t talk to her like that she-

- Oh so now you’re taking her side, sorry I was rude to your new Bff-

- New Bff? Irked Hana. – Sue What the f-

- I didn’t know we had new rules. Least you could was letting us know Sunny and I would’ve made sure to start a new team-

- Oh for god’s sake cut that crap Subin-ah, last person whom I should hear complains from is; YOU. I let out of anger and was regretting already the demeanour of the discussion.

- What is that suppose to mean? She asked and I knew she wouldn’t be able to let go.

- You know exactly what I mean. Even if I wanted to tell you how could I? You’ve been avoiding me for 2 weeks and I believe from tonight that your upcoming exhibition had nothing to do it. I finally said. We exchanged a stare for what seemed to be like an eternity.

- I…I do believe you’re in deep right now so in the name of our long friendship I am nicely going to put aside what you’ve just said and we’ll talk about it later.

- Sue… don’t be like that…begged Sunny.

- Stop being childish. Jumped in Hana. You know how she is she never says anything to anyone, in fact she hadn’t told me anything either if I hadn’t seen him drop her in our hotel for a meeting I would be on the same spot as you. I had to guess… defended Hana and I felt stupid. I had created all this situation if only I could be able to open up about my issues nothing like that would’ve happened. I felt Sue loosening a bit her shoulders but to say that she wasn’t mad anymore was too early.

- Wait a second…you saw him drop her? Who dropped whom? Asked Ki-wong and I frowned at him.

- Ji-hoon oppa dropped Gongjiu for a meeting in our hotel he turned out to be part of too actually…explained Hana frowning as well not understanding why was this even interesting but the funny look  the men had got me curious.

- With the Ferrari…added Jin-hyuk as it had some kind of importance and they widened their eyes while Ji was rolling his.

- You’ve got to be kidding me… you did? I’ve been begging forever to let me ride your car, or in your car, I was even willing to be put on the trunk…I didn’t know you would be this type Ji, I’m very disappointed…

- What type? Asked Sunny.

- The Wifey type…and the men burst into a laugh expect for Jin-hyuk who smirked and Ji of course who gave a tap behind his friend’s head. As for us we still didn’t really get the joke.

- Ji does never drop anyone, especially women. His mother got something like three photographers following him around.  When it comes to the Ferrari basically no human species beside himself are allowed.  I think you’re the only person on earth who got that privilege…Explained Chang Wook giving me a meaningful look I was too lazy to analyse. At least his totally unadjusted seat made sense now.

- So…you guys had to see each other beside the Sogeting part…asked Sunny. – What meeting were you talking about?

- There was a meeting they had to attend with Mrs Ju and Mrs Lee but it was a professional one although there was few hints given, and…and Ju sajanim himself had dinner at her place last night with his parents…explained Hana.

- Please tell me you’re not meaning the old monkey by ‘Ju sajanim himself’…asked Sue.

-  Subin-ah…Reprimanded Chang-wook.  - We actually call him old dog…and yes that was him…he added and I had an impression of déjà vu. Oh yes, I know why.

- God how far has this gone? How long were you going to hold on to this by yourself? Asked worriedly Sunny.

- He’s right. You were in denial… Spoke Sue this time and I thought of counter arguing but first of all she was right, so was he. In fact, I am still in denial. Also this was a good point for me, at least she could get why I wasn’t so talkative about it. – How do we fix this? She added showing that she was putting her resentment aside.

- I’m currently looking on what interests this jointure is made and how the Lees can benefit from it…

- Why is it so obvious that The Ju’s have offered something, isn’t it more logical that the deal is set the other way around. That Mrs Lee is behind this union? Asked Chang Wook.

- Because Mrs Lee and her husband have absolutely nothing to benefit from this union at least no on an official level…Answered him Sue before getting back to Hana. So you’re basically spying on her grand?

- Basically yes…

- Hana I’m sorry to reappraise your skills but you’re not gonna get anything… jumped in Sunny. There must be something else…

- Such as?

- The way I see it, it’s already too late to find out from where this whole set up story does come from even if I agree with you it doesn’t make any sense but let’s be honest, if Halmeoni is hiding something then you better give up and work straight on the problem. Break the deal. She explained.

- I like the idea… spoke Ji-hoe.

- She’s right. Sabotage. Added Sue. I raised an eyebrow. Think about it, it can’t be hard. It’s Ju Ji-hoon we’re talking about, the manwhore.

- You better stop with that- he tried to defend himself before I cut him.

- Sabotage is too easy Sue, it’s my grandmother we’re talking about she’s never going to buy that.

- C’mon I’m sure we can work something; he’s a psychopath alcoholic and has syphilis…she said and he choked on his drink as his friends burst into a laugh.  It only takes few falsified documents spread few rumours and his reputation is on your side already…

- Excuse me. I’m sitting here. This is out of question. Why does it have to me? Why shall I not sabotage her?

- Seriously? Ok go ahead…what do you have in stock? Speeding? I don’t think she even got that…answered Sue.

- Surgery. He spoke confidently and I crooked my head. What the hell?  - You went through surgery didn’t you? You can’t be 100% Korean and have a body like yours…he assured and I froze. So did my friends.

- What did you just say? I asked again and I felt a knot in my stomach.

- You heard me very well. I’m positive you went under the scalpel and I’m not talking only about the regular nose job and double eyelids package.

- She never went under the scalpel you better drop the subject. Ordered Sue and he felt something was odd, all of them did. They couldn’t get why.

- He…doesn’t know does he? I spoke looking at nowhere and asking my friends. In fact none of them does…I added.

- Don’t know what? He asked me.

- Oppa. Do you know anything about my mother? I dramatically asked and I could see him genuinely frown and slightly position himself in his seat, as the discussion was going to get serious.

- I believe she was from a lower social background as your grandparents strongly disapproved her. She lived abroad and she brought you when you were three or four…and…she died in a car accident when you were a kid…that’s what I heard…he calmly said. And from the look his friends had I believe they didn’t know more.

- Do you know what my name is? I managed to say as my whole body was shivering now. He looked at me weirdly.

- No…I…wouaouh I actually don’t…Since I remember everyone called you by your nickname…I know your American name though…he added, almost feeling guilty or trying to justify himself, I wasn’t sure. Sara right? Why are you asking this? I don’t get it…he finished clearly uncomfortable.

- I…I don’t have an American name…that’s my actual name…the one I was named with when I was born. My mother chose it. She named me after her favourite childhood book ‘Sara Crew’ a story of a little girl who had lost her mother and was raised miles away from her dad in a boarding school where everyone considered her as a princess because of her dad’s wealth and mostly because she was obsessed with conveying that kind and perfect image of herself.  I know right…that’s pretty much the story of my life…I mean why would she name me after such a pitiful orphan and pathetic character? I said laughing while my eyes were glistering and my voice slightly choking. It turned out to be real, isn’t that the silliest thing you’ve ever heard… He looked at me as I was crazy yet there was something deep in his look. Maybe he just pitied me. - I never went under the scalpel Oppa, but then you’re right. I’m not 100% Korean. My mother was French. I saw him widened his eyes as his friends looked at each other as mine looked at their feet. – This is why my grand parents didn’t approve her, because she was a foreigner. It had nothing to do with her social background. You…you had no idea about it?

- I …I didn’t. He solemnly stated.

- It does all make sense now. Why she’s willing to sell me to the Ju’s, why she accepted their offer. It’s not that she’s been threatened of something or hiding a supposedly secret scandal beside the one behind my birth. She just still haven’t gotten over the shame brought by my mother thus she’s putting me in the most wanted family so that nobody dares to speak or mention the secret behind my birth. Secret. I repeated to myself. I didn’t even know it was one…

- Sara-ya…spoke Sue.

- Oh so now you dare call me by my name? What happened to the Gongju/princess you give me all the time…oh…you actually thought it was a secret too didn’t you? She looked down to her feet. Obviously they were my friends, they knew that my mother was not Korean, they’ve seen pictures of her. But how could they think that it was a secret.

- It’s just that you never liked to speak about her with us or in public …spoke hesitantly Sunny feeling terribly sorry.

- That’s because I’m the one who killed her…I let out as a tear rolled down in my cheek and felt sobs threatening to come out as I had trouble breathing. I was loosing it. I stood up. So did Sue as Hana and Sunny were paralysed on their seats.

- Don’t follow me…I ordered before leaving and I could feel Sue trying to disobey me but being stopped by Hana and I secretly thanked her for that. I really needed to be alone. No actually, I needed to be alone with someone in particular.

Chapter 42: OMG! You're back! You're here! With so many updates! Miss you! LOL! I woke up in the middle of the night to see a notification update on this. I thought I was dreaming!

And the updates...so juicy...what happened at that dinner and the big change in Sara? I feel she is backed to a corner to agree to this.

I'm curious to Wooky's reaction. He wanted that relationship with Sue but marriage is totally different. I hope he is happy with the turn of events.

Don't worry about the light interaction between Hana and Jin Hyuk. I was laughing while reading it. It is nice to read the vampire is shaken by something.

Great great updates! It is always always worth the wait. Hope you are doing fine with work and all. Take care!

Chapter 42: Finally ! I'm back...I missed you my dear reader and I am so sorry it took me forever to post these...I wanted to post this in September then December then Valentine's Day but never managed to meet any of these deadlines.
I wrote these three parts were supposed to came out as one chapter but I ended up dividing in parts so that it makes the reading easier. I had written the confrontation with Sue and her dad plus Gongju and Jihoon but I thought it would be great to insert a lighter interaction with Hana and Jinhyuk but god I got stuck forever on it... I like the idea that they would be together when they would find out about Sue's father wanting to meet Wooky but then I since I've had put so much energy writting these heavy confrontations that I couldn't write a "lighter interaction"...and since I wasn't satisfied with the results...it was just getting dragged and dragged ...and then I realized that would never be satisfied so let's just go with it...hope you like and that it doesn't sound off ! let me know what you think...I've seriously missed you !!!

Chapter 39: Wow! Such a long chapter! I was reading it since this morning (sneak reading a paragraph between work stuff...hehehe)...the wait was so worth it. I love everything.

Each and every interaction...from weird to wild (Ji-Sara), from platonic to playful (Ki-Sunny), from nothing to something (Jin-Hana)...everything was awesome.

I for one don't mind the detours. Hey, you're the author...you are driving, we are just here for the ride.

(Just a note: I particularly like how you've written Ki as a smaller character so far then all of a sudden...BAM! Now, I can't help but imagine that tattoo. LOL!)
