A black inset shirt dress with a white collar, the end of the sleeves is also in white as well as the lightly a-line skirt. The dress is light and simple, loose but falling around the shape of my body and my legs look slim in transparent tights to a pair of beige platform pumps with an 11cm high heel. I’m without accessories; my hair is simply styled in the most natural way while I have soft red lips and not such a dramatic eye makeup. It is today’s red carpet outfit, one of the first red carpets I attend without 5 Pieces. But that doesn’t mean I’m alone; coming up next to me on the red carpet is Kim Kyung Ho, the most adorable ten-year-old ever. He is wearing a blue sweater with a white/blue striped shirt visible underneath and a pair of pants and shiny shoes. I am smiling when he takes my hand for us to walk the carpet together. It’s Tuesday, tomorrow is the last day of 2014 and this evening I am attending SBS Entertainment Awards with my Korean little brother. We won’t win any awards but we are attending because Good Sister Season1 is nominated and the two of us will present an award. I am mostly attending because Kyung Ho is attending; a sibling thing. Around us the fans and journalists are all shouting, asking for attention and to get a good picture and I am nicely walking with my hand firmly around Kyung Ho’s. He is nervous, he kept saying that in the car and his hands are sweaty now when we hold hands but he is happy too that we are attending the awards together. We get over to pose for the pictures, just standing there and I direct Kyung Ho where to look because he doesn’t really know how to respond to all the voices telling him to look here and there. I hope we look adorable together when I put my hand on his back and we both put up a peace-sign for the pictures. The red carpet goes well and when coming inside SBS I ask Kyung Ho if it was fun. He found it fun because everyone seemed to get a bit crazy shouting ‘HANNAH! HANNAH!’ the whole time, and just like me he hope the pictures will show our sibling similarities. The two of us get to sit among SBS’s entertainment favourites in front of the stage, round tables with gray settings are and we get to sit a little behind the favourites because Kyung Ho and I aren’t part of anything big in 2014. first when everyone are taking their seats, Kyung Ho is doing well by bowing to everyone even if he doesn’t know who everyone else, he is polite and we had quite a lot of people greeting us. Someone even comments that he just met Kyung Ho at MBC Drama Awards, which is currently taking place at MBC. Kyung Ho had gone there just briefly to show himself before he came here with me; other than the sweater he is in the same clothes, but on MBC he wore a suit. A really handsome young brother I have by my side. Though the two of us aren’t really anything here at SBS Entertainment Awards, we are mentioned during the opening by the three hosts that bring up special people they can see in the audience. “We even have international star 5 Pieces’ Hannah here, who showed her older sister image in Good Sister, today here with her cute brother Kim Kyung Ho who he have seen a lot on our channel this year,” the host comments and Kyung Ho starts waving his hand happily when the camera gets in front of us. I am smiling, feeling embarrassed to sit here and being seen as Kyung Ho’s older sister and not just 5 Pieces’ Hannah. As soon as the seconds of attention on us has passed, Kyung Ho turns to me, his hand clapping my leg to get my ear. “I just remembered something that I have to tell you,” he says with excitement, smiling. “The Christmas party I went to with mom and dad, the work party I told you about.” I nod, waiting for him to continue. His parents had been invited for a Christmas party for his father’s work, and Kyung Ho got to come along as it was a family invitation. Kyung Ho told me about it before, how his parents had told him to behave and reminded him of being polite and not talks a lot or makes an embarrassment of them because he is a child actor. “I spoke in Japanese to one of their friends,” he is saying while almost bouncing on his seat. “Mom and dad came over and they told me this person only spoke Japanese, apologizing to their colleague as if I had done something bad, but, but do you know; he praised me and said as expected of my parents, they have taught me to speak Japanese. Mom and dad didn’t know you taught me Japanese.” “So you made a good impression then?” I smile. He nods happily. “The Japanese person said he believes in the idea my father has to unite with the Japanese company because of that.” Kyung Ho isn’t on bad terms with his parents, he is a lonely child who grew up at the hospital with parents giving him toys as love and they work away a lot. Kyung Ho says the Japanese person had approached him at the party and in Japanese tried to ask Kyung Ho if he was his father’s son but didn’t really know how to explain it well since he only speaks Japanese, so Kyung Ho had done a full introduction in Japanese where he said ‘it is very nice to meet you, my name is Kim Kyung Ho’ and that he is his father’s son. The man had gotten such a surprise to hear him speak Japanese, and while his parents got praised for teaching their son Japanese, Kyung Ho was quiet and thinking it is all thanks to Hannah who has taken him to Japan, helped him to learn some Japanese too. It doesn’t take too long until we go backstage to prepare for the award we will present. We go through things to say, greet some of the celebrities in the back and again go through how we will present the award. When it is our turn I stand behind the stage with Kyung Ho on my left side and wait for the hosts to introduce us to make our entrance. “The next presenters are our favourite siblings on- and off-screen,” they start to introduce, “Without being real siblings they have shown us through the reality program Good Sister that love and care is what matters, not ethnic or blood. Please welcome, Hannah and Kim Kyung Ho.” It is our cue and when I take a step forward Kyung Ho is fast to take my hand to let me lead him, and the hall is playing [POWER UP]. I glance down to make sure he is coming along and when I look up I smile at the camera following in front of us. The applauds are loud but some people in the audience are extremely loud, making me think Kyung Ho is very popular. We walk up to our spot and I let Kyung Ho introduce himself first. “Hello, I am actor Kim Kyung Ho,” he nicely says in the microphone after pulling it down to his height, bowing politely. “And I am 5 Pieces’ Hannah, nice to meet you,” I greet too and smiles around at the audience. I am not suited for this, but we have practiced and I nervously take a glance at my notes to know what to say. I start off by talking about the award we are presenting, asking Kyung Ho what he knows about the award and nominees and he gets to show his adorable self when giving out a well-studied explanation about the award but admitting he doesn’t know much about the nominees – adding that they must be pretty great to be nominated, which receives a lot of cheers. “But Nuna,” Kyung Ho then says, holding the microphone tightly to keep it by his mouth. “Yes?” “We did a show together this year,” he says and I nod saying we did. “It was a lot of fun because we got to play a lot.” “It was a lot of fun,” I agree and smile when seeing Yoo Jae Suk sitting in the audience whisper to someone, it looks like he thinks Kyung Ho is cute. You can hear Kyung Ho has gone through what to say, but it doesn’t sound like he is reading out what he remembers. He is a natural for the cameras. “Do you think we can say we will come out with a new season soon?” he asks me and I laugh when the audience starts screaming, some of the celebrities cheering too. “Kyung Ho, you just told everyone,” I laugh to him. He leans a little away from the microphone, his voice still heard when he says to me in an attempt to be secretive; “You think they understood what I meant then? Maybe I mean the new SBS drama I have been cast in,” he says and I laugh more with the audience. My brother is indeed a natural for the camera. “Kyung Ho, should we just talk about the awards before you reveal something more?” I suggest. He nods. “Like revealing that I grew seven centimetres this year?” he agrees and he laughs when I put my hand over his mouth to have myself present the award with everyone laughing. He is actually receiving cheers for his growth this year. We announce the winner of the award together, and I can’t help but to feel proud when the winner wants to shake Kyung Ho’s hand as if he is a person you should be respectful for. A ten-year-old steals my spotlight, and I love it. Going backstage after that, he is laughing so much when asking if he did a good job, saying it was really fun and admitting he couldn’t see much. After the award shows we send Kyung Ho home and I head to the agency to practice with my ladies for tomorrow’s final performance. We are attending SBS Drama Awards with Kyung Ho tomorrow, he is nominated but 5 Pieces is a guest performer. It is the first time in a week we are just 5 Pieces together – without family members – though our dancers are here too. I have barely seen most of them these days, and I haven’t told them about Jonghyun. Only Manager Lee knows. In the car on the way to practice we talked about it, and I said I’m not going to tell them as they should focus on having fun with their family now as tomorrow it’s New Year’s and all that, but Manager Lee looked doubtful when saying “if you can fool your members that things are okay, then you are indeed a great actress”. That made me worry since I’m not a great actress, but the point of the practice is that everyone is too busy practicing that it’s nothing to sense being wrong with me. But I have come to think of something. The song [Bittersweet] that Carolina and I are going to promote at Jonghyun’s radio; he hasn’t heard the Korean version. I don’t even know if he has listened through the lyrics of the Japanese version. When I listened to the song earlier I realised that the lyrics are horrible; it’s like the worst song to promote on radio with your ex-boyfriend when the song is about a breakup where you still love and miss the person. How am I supposed to promote that song on his radio, with him there? Sure, the song wasn’t written about our breakup but the lyrics are so in synch with what has happened. I have talked to him about the song before, but I don’t think I have ever played it for him. “How’s your house these days?” one of the dancers asks after midnight when we are packing up to leave. “Hannah says it’s crowded” “Ha-ha! As if Hannah would know, she is home for a few hours to sleep,” Maria jokes and pushes my arm playfully, laughing. “But it is crowded. It really is, but we have had so much fun this past week.” “And in a few days it will go back to the usual quietness,” Carolina nods, though their house is pretty quiet now because Carolina’s family left yesterday. I smile at her words knowing her family has left, and also at our dancers pointing out that 5 Pieces will head to America after New Year, so when their families leave we will get on the flight too. “We’ll be leaving first,” our dancers says their goodbyes and I happily wave them off. “We should go too,” Maria comments and puts on her jacket. “Ah, I have to use the bathroom first.” “Again?” Emelia complains. “Yes!” Maria angrily answers her and takes off, almost bumping into someone who makes her pause, before passing by. “Don’t take too long.” “Who is she saying that to,” Julia laughs, sitting down in the room to wait until Maria is back. I smile at Julia, just about to take a seat too when it knocks on the door standing wide open. “Hello,” Jonghyun politely greets us, leaning inside the room.
