Movie Date

Youngest of Pieces: NEW ME (11)

Today too we have spent most of the day in the practice-room preparing for the concert, singing Christmas carols and joking around, and now we have tried on clothes for the midnight schedule. We bring the clothes with us in the van and I am sighing several of times when we are on the road. Julia and Emelia have taken another car, letting Julia drive, while the rest of us are getting our ride in the van: Carolina is pretty quiet while Maria and I keep talking. The topic is the movie we are watching tonight, a premiere of The Hobbit that the group has been invited to see – that’s why we need sponsored clothes, to be stylish when watching a movie – and we also talk about what we are going to do now, before the night’s premiere. “I am so jealous of you,” Maria breathes out and lies comfortably in her seat. She looks so relaxed, she always looks relaxed when we are heading somewhere, her long limbs going wherever they reach in a position that doesn’t really look comfortable but Maria makes it look like the best resting position ever. “If it wasn’t a date, I would along just to watch two movies tonight.” “Too bad you don’t like Mockingjay then,” I comment with a smile at her. I am happy for going on two movies tonight. “What is Mockingjay?” Carolina asks from the backseat. I smile at her over my shoulder, unable to hide my excitement. “It’s The Hunger Games, the third movie is called Mockingjay,” I tell her. “Oh…” Carolina looks impressed for some reason when saying that. The third movie has already come out on the cinema a while ago but I haven’t had the time to go see it, but when we were told we were going to the premiere of The Hobbit out of nowhere I started to look up when to watch this movie and I called Jonghyun to say “we are going on a movie date”. It wasn’t really a question, so I surprised him quite a lot but he was excited as well and now, we are going to watch a movie together – a movie date. Going to the cinema has always been a joy for all five of us. I first went to the cinema with Emelia when I was a child and I remember how we one time went to the night premiere in our tiny town in the middle of the week, taking the next day off from school just to sleep. It was so much fun and I think I always have found something magical with the cinemas, the way people gathers to watch a brand new movie – making it an event instead of sitting down in the sofa at home, maybe missing some parts when chatting or looking at your phone. At the cinema, it is all about the movie. We don’t go to the movies as often as we would want, which is why I think we all get a bit excited being invited to the premiere of The Hobbit – how fun, we actually get paid to watch a movie. Jonghyun sends a text message when he has arrived. We decided to meet nearby the theatre, mostly for me to not be seen jumping out of the idol van right in front of people but also for some other reasons. I am wearing black leggings and a black v-neck short-sleeve t-shirt to a long necklace and on my feet I wear a pair of buckled zip boots, also a scarf around my neck in black to keep my neck and chin warm as the winter jacket doesn’t cover that. “Have fun,” Maria winks at me when the van makes it stop by the side of the street. I smile widely at her as I get out of the van, saying goodbye and ‘see you later’ before I close the door and turn around. Kim Jonghyun is standing in a too thin jacket for this cold weather, he is hugging his own arms and has a scarf around his neck covering half of his face but on his eyes I can still see that he is smiling. He lowers his head a bit too as the van behind me drives away. “Why aren’t you dressed better?” I greet him with a laugh and walk right into him, wrapping my arms around him. “I wasn’t thinking,” he admits and slips his arms around me underneath my jacket. He is cold, but I have nothing to complain about because I like this closeness. “You’re always warm, Nabi.” He sneaks a peck on my cheek when we get out of the hug, smiling at me before putting his arm around my shoulder for us to go. “How was your day?” I ask first. Though we have talked over the phone and I know what he has been doing I still ask. I love that smile h shows, and I can feel his fingers play with a lock of my hair by my shoulder. “My day has been long and tiring,” he answers, a hint of that smile returns in his voice. “I kept thinking of our date; I have waited for it all week.” “Oh…” He does seem tired, but what else to expect from someone who has a radio two hours every midnight, has just finished a tour in Japan and is preparing for his solo debut the rest of the time; being tired has nothing to do with the fact that he is trying to hide how much he is freezing. It is fun to see actually. The last meters to the theatre I hurry my steps slightly, and as soon as we are inside Jonghyun shivers off the cold and acts like nothing while rubbing his hands together after letting go of my shoulder. I don’t know why he does that; pretending he isn’t cold when it’s too obvious he is freezing and everyone know it’s cold outside. “What?” Jonghyun laughs at the smile I give him, but I just shrug it off and walk over to get tickets. “Hannah, what are you smiling like that for?” He asks it with a laugh, a charming tone, as he walks up next to me. “You will get a cold if you don’t dress warmer,” I simply tell him, and when he leans forward to look me in the face I give him a pout. “You’re worried I will catch a cold?” The teasing tone just makes me pout more and Jonghyun laughs, his arm holds on to me tightly around the shoulders as he looks up at the desk in front of us. We are about the last ones to come, the movie is about to begin and the young girl who has come up to our counter looks very nervous. “Can I take your order?” the girl asks and she turns to Jonghyun. I think when going on a date, the guy usually pays. “What do you want?” Jonghyun asks and he turns his face to look at me. I smile, for some reason I can’t help but to smile. It is probably the way he looks at me, magically placing butterflies in my stomach. “You decide,” I answer and to not have him ask again just in case, I add; “I am not picky with snacks.” Jonghyun turns to the menu on the wall behind the girl, saying ‘hmm’ in a long tone. I am awkward standing there with his arm around me, the girl in front of us not knowing what to do and she takes a step aside to be busy sorting some things behind the counter. I am certain she is taking glances of us, but I don’t look to be sure since it would be too awkward. Instead, I pretend to be studying the menu as well. Korea has countless of things you can order, even hot dogs. In Sweden it is just popcorn and simple hot snack along with soda, so different. Here they even have flavours on the popcorns. When he has set his mind, Jonghyun asks me of my opinion, his eyes strictly on me for me to help decide on the flavours of the popcorn so I choose cheese and butter. He smiles. I don’t know why. “One cheese and one butter popcorn, please,” Jonghyun starts to order and puts down his arm from my shoulder. “And two medium sized Coca Cola.” It is my turn to smile when he orders the soda, without even asking me this time (he does know what I like to drink), and he takes out his card to pay. I take a look at the time. “Let’s hurry,” I bounce next to Jonghyun. The girl takes out the popcorn first, two flavours divided in one large bowl, and I hug on to it with both arms, keeping my eyes on Jonghyun as he finishes paying and takes the soda. “Let’s go then,” he tells me as we turn to go watch the movie. The theatre is dark when we enter and I give Jonghyun his ticket that we already had with us so he can find our seats. I follow him. It’s not a lot of people at all in here and our seats are at the top so no one is next to us or behind us or even at the two rows in front either. I am giggling when we take our seats; the movie hasn’t even started, it is showing commercials. Jonghyun sits down and is smiling at me as I have to take off my winter jacket before sitting down. “I can’t believe I haven’t seen it yet,” I comment about the movie when sitting down next to Jonghyun. “The movie?” Jonghyun smiles, “I can’t believe you actually brought me along.” “Why?” I ask with a frown at him. “You didn’t want to come along?” The thought that by not asking him to come but to tell him to come hits me, making me think that I forced him to go on this date to see a movie he has no interest in. But he smiles and holds out his hand to take mine. “I do. I just thought this was going to be 5 Pieces’ month.” That’s true – Maria said it one day when we were on the phone for Jonghyun to know the activities with 5 Pieces are as always very busy – and I laugh as low as possible in the theatre by the memory. “My ladies are always a little bit dramatic, and Maria in particular.” The movie starts and though it is a movie I have waited for to see a whole year (since the second movie of The Hunger Games came out), I might realise it was a bad idea to see it with Jonghyun. My boyfriend knows how to catch my attention; lightly caressing his fingertips against my skin as if it is the most natural thing for him to do while the heat of my blood flushes up to my cheeks and I feel my body get restless. For not getting to see him that often I do get restless around him, especially when sitting next to each other in a dark theatre and looking at a movie I have longed to see but half of my attention is focused on every tiny thing he does next to me. Next time, we will see a movie I am not too interested in or a movie I have already seen, just so my mind won’t get split in two for wanting to look at him and the screen both at once. I do try to focus on the movie though, because I can’t wait to see what happens in it. “Are you bored?” Automatically my hand goes up and then slaps his on the armrest between us with my eyes on the big screen. I don’t even answer that question, the question my boyfriend asked exactly when an exciting fight breaks loose. I know he teases me because my eyes will probably pop out of my head if I put more focus on the screen, but it is interesting so all he gets for teasing me is a slap on the hand – and a smile. The beginning was the worst; to get used to watch the movie with Jonghyun. After that, after not freaking out on the inside each time his fingertip moves over my skin, and after his question, it gets very fun. Mostly because Jonghyun gets focused on the movie too, so we both enjoy the movie and the company of each other. Though I am still too aware of his presence next to me, but instead of being distracted by it I end up hugging his arm to be as close as possible. At the end of the movie I get a fright to see what has happened to Peeta but as soon as the movie ends Jonghyun hurries me that we have to go, before anyone else leaves. He is pulling me along out the theatre and I have just put on the jacket when we get outside on the street. The evening air is chilly and colder than in the day, and while I am still in chock over the ending of the movie, Jonghyun is laughing. Only when we have changed the street does he walk up in front of me, turn to face me and stopping my steps, and he wraps his arms around me in a hug. “You got so scared when he attacked her in the end,” he is laughing at me. I had given a jump at the surprise ending. “I couldn’t help it,” I whine, “I was not prepared for that at all!” “Me neither, but your reaction was hilarious,” Jonghyun admits and puts a hand on my head, his face close in front of mine so the heat is returning to my cheeks. “Let’s get the car warm and go somewhere.” I wrap my arms around his waist, smiling up at him. “Did you like the movie?” I ask. It would be bad if I thought it was great and he just wished to leave, but Jonghyun says it was very interesting and that he wants to see the last one with me when it comes out too, then he kisses my forehead and we go to the car. I still have a movie left to see tonight. The Hobbit premiere is later so I have some time left with Jonghyun before I have to get hair, makeup and clothes ready for the press and he has to go work too. I’m certain that 5 Pieces at the front of the theatre will be heard the most, but we will enjoy the movie like we always do at the cinema. ++ - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + -+ - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + -+ - + - ++ After the movies we head straight home to get some hours of sleep before Thursday will be welcomed. I am so tired when we come home that I am thinking of telling Jonghyun to sleep at home. We had decided to sleep together tonight, as our schedules ends around the same time, but now I do reconsider that decision because I am too tired. Being sleepy is the excuse I tell myself for even thinking of telling him to sleep in his own bed. Emelia knocks on my bedroom’s door when she is done in the bathroom. I have a towel wrapped around me, my phone in hand and I bring my favourite raglan-sleeve print t-shirt in gray and black with me when going to the bathroom for a quick shower so I can go to bed soon. I haven’t texted Jonghyun, I don’t think I really want to tell him to sleep in his own bed tonight; I want him to sleep in mine, right next to me. I think he heard my wishes because just as I lock the door to the bathroom behind me my cell phone receives a text message; Jonghyun is here. Without hesitation I leave both my cell phone and t-shirt in the bathroom and I hurry out the room to go open the doors for him, which is a security box on the wall that I just need to press to open the front port for him, and then I go to the house’s door to open it for him. Handsome and tired, he smiles automatically when seeing what I’m wearing – something I hadn’t thought of when coming to let him in. “I’m going to take a quick shower,” I let him
