If you had known that that video call would be the last in a long while, you would have insisted on talking longer. But as things played out, you didn’t and it has already been more than four months since the last video call with any of them. You still kept yourself up to date with their lives through frequent emails with Kibum and Jinki but you knew deep down that they were definitely not telling you everything.

Thankfully, there was one person you could always trust to give you proper updates about all of them. You knew that he would tell you everything as it was but the only problem was that you had to wait for him to get the opportunity to hijack his blur leader’s email account every now and then. You didn’t know why he didn’t just use his own email account to write to you because you would always reply to his account anyway but since it was more fun this way, you just let him be. It served as a nice surprise too, every now and then, for you to open up an email from Jinki only to realize that it was Taemin who had written to you.

He had told you about their long hours spent in the recording studio to record their songs and then long hours spent perfecting their dance moves and then more hours spent on vocal training, although that was mainly for Jinki, Jonghyun and sometimes Kibum. As the date of their debut slowly approached, Taemin started sharing his insecurities and troubles with you. You were shocked to know that he actually had a lot of worries hidden under his usual cheerful façade.

You tried your best to allay his fears as it was the only thing you could do since he was going to debut in just two days. You reassured him of his abilities and asked him not to doubt himself and to trust that his hyungs would be there for him if he needed them to. That seemed to do the trick because in his reply to you the following day (from his actual account), he attached a video of their dance practice and said that it was a special privilege given to their first fan.

You quickly downloaded the video attachment and watched it, eager to be one of the first people to see hear their debut song and see the dance choreography before their actual debut date. You were floored by what you saw. There were two things that you noticed right away. One was how Taemin transformed from being a cheerful maknae into a dancer with overflowing confidence. You could tell from his fluid yet powerful dance moves that he was the best dancer of the group and his short dance break solo in their routine confirmed your thoughts.

The second thing you noticed was how different Jinki was on the video. It was as if he became a completely different person when the music came on. His voice was soft yet powerful at the same time. You were completely mesmerized by his singing especially since it was the first time you had actually heard him sing. You had already heard the rest of them sing when they took turns to sing lullabies to Minhyuk when he refused to sleep. They were all really good singers, even Minho who was supposed to be their rapper, had a really soothing deep baritone voice. He also seemed to lose most of his clumsiness when the music started. You didn’t know whether it was because he was so familiar with the choreography that it had already become routine for him but you were half-expecting him to trip himself over his feet or fall over some invisible object. You almost felt bad for holding your breath when he made it through the entire choreography without any mishaps.

You found yourself replaying the video five times just so that each time, you could focus solely on one member. At the end of the fifth time, you found yourself getting extremely excited for their debut and sat there in front of your laptop with a ridiculously huge grin plastered on your face. 

Minhyuk must have thought that your expression looked silly as well because he giggled one of his adorable baby giggles which caused you to bring your attention back to him. You lifted him out of his high seat and sat him down in front of your laptop so that he could watch the video as well. You hit the play button for the sixth time and pointed to the screen to get Minhyuk’s attention focused on it.

“Don’t you think your appas are so cool? Hmm?” You cooed.

Minhyuk responded by reaching his hands out towards the screen and saying “GA!” really loudly. “Yes yes. Ga!” You nodded and laughed.

He was just beginning to speak and frequently said random monosyllable words. You were pretty sure that the first word he babbled out was “doh” but you couldn’t be 100% sure because it happened so suddenly one day and lasted for barely a second that sometimes you even wondered if you had imagined it. He was picking up English because of the constant exposure to it but you decided that you wanted him to pick up Korean as well, so you tried to speak Korean to him whenever the both of you were alone.

You went back to the email to check if Taemin had included the title of the song and he did. It was called “Replay” in English and “누난너무예뻐” in Korean. You typed back a quick reply on your thoughts of the video and wished them all the best before you decided to call it a night as you had a long day the next day.

I editted his chapter so many times it's insane! I'm still not too happy with how it turned out but I think I just decided to post it before I decide to delete the entire chapter and re-write it again :(

Anyway, for any of you that might be fans of Infinite and shippers of Woogyu, Myungyeol and Yadong couples... You will definitely enjoy this video.
