You woke up the next morning and found Minhyuk all smiley and looking extremely pleased just to be rolling on his back in his cot. Looking at him so happy, you couldn’t help but smile as well when you bent down to pick him up.

The house was surprisingly quiet today and you found it a little strange until you remembered that Kibum was going to bring them all out today so that you could enjoy some quiet and prepare the Christmas dinner in peace, and also without having to worry constantly about people (aka Taemin and Jinki) stealing the food. It was also a good thing that you wouldn’t be seeing Kibum for most part of the day because then, you had more time to think about what you should do.

You fed Minhyuk, had your breakfast and then did the laundry. You also managed to get some cleaning done before you stopped for a quick lunch and then decided to start preparing the turkey since it would take the longest to be done. Kibum had called you only once to make sure that you and Minhyuk were alright. You reassured him that everything was fine at home, that you had everything under control and told him to just have fun with the rest.

While the turkey was doing it’s time in the oven, you quickly made the chocolate mousse which was to be served as dessert because it needed to be chilled in the fridge. After that, you boiled the potatoes and carrots and cut them up into bite-size pieces and set them aside for roasting later. You made some cold pasta salad and then made the cranberry sauce for the turkey and mushroom gravy for the Christmas ham you ordered. When the turkey was finally done, you took it out of the oven and wrapped it in foil so that it would remain warm then you mixed the potatoes and carrots in the juices from roasting the turkey and then returned it to the oven. Lastly, you wrapped the ham with foil and placed it into the oven to warm it up and then took it out to apply the glaze and returned it back into the oven again.

You looked at the clock when you were done and it was close to 6 in the evening. You only slightly longer than you expected because you had to feed Minhyuk in between when he woke up and after that, he was just happy to watch you bustle around the kitchen from his bouncy chair. You switched off the oven and then placed the wrapped turkey into the oven with the ham to keep them warm while you went to take a quick shower.

You heard muffled voices outside when you were in the middle of your shower and figured that Kibum and the rest had come home. You were right because you walked out of the bathroom to see Kibum carrying Minhyuk while Jonghyun and Minho were trying all ways to steal Minhyuk away from him. Taemin looked like he wanted to hold Minhyuk too but was a little hesitant on whether he should join in or not. Jinki, on the other hand, looked like a lost puppy and you realized that you’ve actually never seen Jinki playing or holding Minhyuk.

An idea stuck you and you grinned as you walked towards Kibum and reached out for Minhyuk. Needless to say, Kibum immediately allowed you to take Minhyuk from him and you walked over to Jinki, who by now had a wide-eyed panicked look on his face. You held out Minhyuk towards him but he backed away at once, shaking his head and saying that he couldn’t carry Minhyuk.

You persisted and continued to move towards him. “You’re his godfather! You can’t be afraid of him. Just try to hold him. I promise you that I’ll take him back if you can’t manage. Ok?”

You knew you had managed to convince him when he stopped backing away and looked up at you. “Promise?” You could hear the fear in his voice and see it in his eyes so you nodded.

“Don’t worry. Just put your hand like this and hold him against your chest.” You instructed and he mirrored you.

When you finally placed Minhyuk in his arms and let go, you could see that Jinki held his breath and squeezed his eyes shut as he waited for something major to happen. When nothing did, he slowly let out his breath and opened his eyes. Minhyuk was just quietly leaning against Jinki’s chest and smiling as his head was facing you. As the seconds ticked by and nothing disastrous happened, Jinki slowly got more confident and even relaxed enough to play little games with Minhyuk just to make him laugh.

You stood back and watched their cute interaction, not wanting to interrupt them. The rest of them also watched Jinki and Minhyuk but with awe, probably because they knew about Jinki’s fear of babies and never expected to ever see him holding Minhyuk without freaking out. Soon though, everyone was crowding around Jinki and trying to get their turn at carrying Minhyuk.

You left them to bicker amongst themselves while you went to the kitchen and started to plate everything and bring them out to the dining table. You were carrying out the turkey when Taemin suddenly appeared and took it out of your hands. “Let me do it, noona.” He said as he began walking towards the dinner table. “Where do you want me to put this?” He asked.

“You can just put it somewhere in the center.” You answered before continuing, “How come you’re not out there with the others?”

Taemin pouted a little at that. “Hyungs won’t let me hold Minhyuk so I came to see if I could help.”

You ruffled his hair. “My dongsaeng is the best! I’ll let you play with Minhyuk later.” You promised and was rewarded with a bright smile before you headed back into the kitchen, with Taemin in tow, to get the rest of the food.

“Noona, did you really make everything by yourself??” Taemin asked incredulously after the last plate was brought out and the table properly set.

“Nope, not everything. I didn’t make the ham.” You answered truthfully.

“But still! That’s almost everything! I’ll go call the hyungs.” Taemin exclaimed and bounced off in the direction of the living room.
