You shivered slightly as you soundlessly slipped out of bed. It was already early December and the weather was getting much colder every single day. You threw on a thick fluffy bathrobe before padding softly to the cot beside your bed to check on Minhyuk. He was still sleeping so you made sure that he was warm enough before you went out to make breakfast.

You yawned while pouring out some juice for yourself. It was very early in the morning, almost too early to be awake, but you had to wake up this early if you were to get breakfast ready in time for Kibum to eat before he left for school. He was having his exams right now but, he was still diligently keeping up with his training. You admired his self-discipline and sometimes wished that you could sit in for just one of his practice sessions. You were really curious to know how he was like when he was dancing.

You prepared blueberry waffles for breakfast and sliced up fresh strawberries to go with them. You poured out some maple syrup, instead of honey, from its bottle into a small glass jug and set it down on the table, in front of his plate. Just then, a very sleepy-eyed Kibum appeared and uncharacteristically plopped himself down onto the chair. He had obviously woken up some time while you were preparing breakfast because his fringe was still a little wet– from washing his face, and he was already changed. He sat at the table but didn’t pick up his fork and knife to eat. Instead, he looked up at you sleepily and pushed his lower lip out before opening his mouth.

You looked at his unusually cute demeanour and chuckled. It was really quite amusing to see him so out of character but since he was so tired and he did have an exam that day, you decided to play nice. You sat down beside him and brought his plate over to you. You drizzled some maple syrup over the waffles and cut them into bite-sized pieces before using the fork to bring a piece up to Kibum’s mouth.

He happily opened his mouth and ate the portion of waffle and you couldn’t help but smile. This was a new side of him that you had never seen before and you found it rather amusing yet really adorable. You had to resist the urge to reach over and pat his head whenever he swallowed his food. You were sure that he took almost twice as long to eat this way as compared to if he fed himself but he didn’t complain. In fact, he seemed to have enjoyed himself more than he should have.

When Kibum finally finished his breakfast, he went into your room to check on Minhyuk before he left for school and came out of your room a moment later with a beaming Minhyuk in his arms. You shot him an accusing look when you saw him carrying Minhyuk.

“I swear it wasn’t me! He was already awake when I went in to check on him.” Kibum protested his innocence.

You wrinkled your nose slightly, not knowing if he was telling the truth or not, but walked towards him and plucked Minhyuk from him so that he could leave. You followed him to the door and waited as he slipped on his shoes. “Goodbye, Minhyukkie. Appa will see you later.” He said and gave Minhyuk a peck on his head.

“I’ll see you later too.” He said, this time to you.

You smiled. “Good luck for your exam! Do your best!” You encouraged.

“Thanks! I will. Oh, and thanks for breakfast too!” He said with a wink before he left.

You prepared MInhyuk’s bottle, fed him and burped him but when he didn’t want to sleep no matter what you did, you decided to place him in his bouncy chair and moved the chair until it was beside you in the dining room. You set up your laptop and decided to play some music while checking your email. You found the angel playlist that Kibum had transferred into your laptop and played it. You checked your email and wrote back to Soojin while glancing constantly at Minhyuk. Before the first song in the playlist was finished, Minhyuk had stopped wriggling in his bouncy chair and by the start of the second song, he was already fast asleep.

At some point, you had stopped typing and just watched Minhyuk as he calmed down while listening to the music and fell asleep. You were squealing inwardly and wanted to jump around the house but you didn’t want to wake him up so you just crawled towards him and tucked the blanket around him before going back to replying your email.

It was actually Minho’s birthday today and you wanted to plan something special but Kibum was so preoccupied with his exams and the other members were also becoming busier. They rarely even had the time to skype with you or Kibum anymore these days. So you decided to record personalized birthday video messages to both Minho as well as Jinki, whose birthday was just a few days after Minho’s, and forced Kibum to record something for the both of them as well. You edited and attached both videos to an email before sending them to Jinki, telling him to watch his on his birthday and to pass Minho his video.

It wasn’t until two weeks after you sent out that email that you heard from Jinki again. It was the eve of Christmas Eve and you were extra busy trying to get everything right for Christmas. After you discovered the way to make him sleep, Minhyuk became the most wonderful baby you could ever wish for. He never threw temper tantrums and only cried when he was hungry or needed a diaper change. He was, literally, a bundle of joy.

As for Kibum, his exams had ended but he was still spending a large portion of his day at school with, what you assumed was, dance practice. You didn’t pry into it because you knew that he wouldn’t tell you anyway, so you just let him do his things while you were kept busy with the household matters.

You really wanted to make a perfect Christmas meal and you had no idea that it would be so time-consuming. You had ordered the Christmas ham but not the turkey because you wanted to try your hand at making it yourself. There was no way you could try out the recipe beforehand this time so you were rather stressed out about it.

It was already close to 10 at night and you had just given Minhyuk his bottle and managed to successfully put him to bed. Kibum was holed up inside his room while you were on your laptop in the dining room. Suddenly, you heard a loud commotion outside which was followed by shushing and then silence. You shrugged it off as guests from one of your neighbours’ early Christmas party and went back to what you were doing.

A few minutes later, the distinct sound of someone knocking on your door reverberated through the house. You got up from your chair and walked towards the door, curious as to whom it may be. Probably got the wrong house. You looked through the peephole. Your eyes widened and a gasp escaped your lips before you quickly unlocked the door and pulled it open.
